Mate 9 and UHS-1 micro SD card - Huawei Mate 9 Questions & Answers

Hi there. I've been using my Mate 9 with Samsung Evo 64Gb card without any issues. I ordered 256Gb UHS-1 version and it arrived today. Although it's Class 10 card, and UHS-1 require special hardware, but should work fine but at slightly lower speeds, I have a notification that says that it's a low speed SD card. I formated it, to no avail. Warning is still there.
Has someone else had this issue? If so, how did you resolve it? Thanks!

Did you get a genuine SD Card?

is micro sd card sandisk 8 gb class 4 good for apps?
if it be like the internal memory of the phone?
Hmm. i guess its ok. today i ordered Team 16GB class 06 micro sd for my SGS
I've read sandisk is not fully compatible with the sgs so it would be better to buy a different one.. kingston should do the work!

Is that so?
But what i heard was sandisk working like a charm with SGS. don't know for sure because i didn't use it
I've never used 'em too, but according to can't-remember-which forum sandisks work well at the beginning... sooner or later, however, they give some problems, like difficulties on reading/writing... after your reply I went to the forum again and read that probably you can encounter this problem only with android 2.1 or lesser so if you've got froyo you should be ok... sorry for causing confusion, just tried to help making things clear ^^
ps sorry 4 my english, but I haven't practised it very much lately

So what brand currently are you using ?
I have always used SanDisk cards in all my gear, have about a dozen of them. Never had any trouble.
In fact the very card the OP mentions (SanDisk MicroSD 8GB Class 4) is in my i9000 right now.
Samsung Accessories
I am using my data cable to transfer file from phone to PC. The transfer rate is low and was in search of card reader i can used it with my samsung phone card or will i have to purchase some other samsung accessories.
Maxflash micro sd rox
i use 8GB transcend class 2. works fine.. i stored all my videos included HD videos. works too good.. with stock froyo 2.2
Recently bought sandisk 32gb class 4micro sd card, no problems as of now noticed using froyo 2.2.1.
I've always used Sandisk, usually when I read about problems its non-Sandisk brands. I've had my Class 2 32GB card since a couple of days after they came out, more than a year now, no problems whatsoever.
You don't really need more than Class 2 in your phone, its fast enough for decoding and encoding 720P video, and I don't know of anything that would need quicker read/write speeds than that. If you can afford faster you'll notice a difference when loading stuff onto the card from your computer, but in the phone there won't be any particular difference in performance. I've benchmarked a non-Sandisk Class 4 32GB card (mymemory brand) in crystaldisk and its performance was better for reading (although again, the Sandisk was fast enough for anything you'd need to do in the phone), but its write performance was worse across the board, particularly when doing smaller or random writes (which for the most part is probably a better mimic for in-phone use than large sequential R/W activities). Whenever I've seen non-Sandisk ones benchmarked Vs Sandisk ones the Sandisk ones are always better within the same Class, and even above their Class, as I've seen in the benchmarks I did.
I definitely agree. The cost to performance of the higher class cards is not worth it.
Can somebody offer me a relatively cheap 32gb micro sd card? I bought one on Ebay, but it was fake (luckily i got my money back).
Kingston su**** my kingston microsd card (8gb 04) don't work anymore . . . i dunno why .
I'm using a SanDisk 4GB Class2 card and hard to reformat it twice in the last 5 weeks (somehow corrupted after reboot).
unfortunately I cannot tell you my exact rom version since I upgraded, but it was 2.2.1 on some doc rom with speedmod kernel.

Need feedback on Samsung and Sandisk Micro SD cards

Im looking to get a new 32gb micro sd card for my wife's Galaxy S5. I cant decide between the Samsung Evo Micro SDHC and the Sandink Micro SDHC class 10 UHS. Which one do you guys recommend?
I have the sandisk ultra 32gb and it works perfectly. Either one should work great.

I have a SanDisk myself but I was just wondering if there was any difference in speed or durability between the two. They are the same about the same price. Anybody care to comment on the Samsung microsd?
Any branded one's should work find, remember not to buy from ebay or amazon, only from reputated or authorized dealer.
I have a SanDisk that only gives me problems. So I bought a Samsung is undoubtedly much better, no problem in 2 months.
I'm using a 64GB Samsung EVO and has no problem so far.
I have Samsung 64 Pro with the following specs:
Read : up to 90MB/s with UHS-1 interface
Write : up to 50MB/s with UHS-1 interface
I cannot tell if the transfer between the internal memory and the scard is fast but when I compare the speeds by copying to/from internal and and copying to/from sdcard via computer the sdcard is way slower.
It is probably something related to UHS-1 interface because the speeds through USB 3 do not go above 10-12 MBps. Very lame.
Im leaning more towards the Samsung Evo micro sd just to try it out. Ive read that its water and magnet proof. Is that also true for the Sandisk micro sd?

Works good.
Benchmark:
Read: 34.30MB/s ~ 35.75MB/s

Yeah I have an unbranded 'class 10' 32 GB from eBay however it is definitely not class 10 as it kept screwing up the photos I took.

I'm curious why you didn't consider the 64GB, the price differences isn't that much, and extra storage never leaves you short of.

Shes not really a power user. She had a 16gb card for the longest and never ran out of space. 32gb should be more than enough. I might give her my 64gb card and get the 128gb but I dont think I need that much space.

I updated OP , sorry for the confusion

Bought it! Thanks man. I have a Samsung Pro 64GB (their top tier MicroSD) and I can't wait for this bigger size. Besides, I don't need that fast speed or durability that their Pro provides (it uses MLC). Besides, the EVO should last me longer than I would use it for anyways.

Hopefully the price will gradually down so I can get it later with great price

If anyone here has this Samsung 128GB EVO microSDXC card, can you run the CrystalDiskMark benchmark on PC, and also the A1 Benchmark on Android?

SDcard issues

Has anyone had the SD card become loose and need to open tray and reseat the SD card to get it to read the card again.
nopes
change your sd card
or use sd card of some other company which provides you standard size sd card
thanks
You could try putting some Scotch tape on the top side and use a razor to trim tape. Make sure you apply some pressure to tape on SD card, this thin bit of tape make be enough to make your sd card tighter in your device. Like member before me try and buy a original brand sd card. So make fakes on the market it's hard at time to know real from fakes..
I'm using a sandisk card bought from best buy. The card is not the issue, it's the looseness of the slot. I like what Huawei is doing but shouldn't have to rig a brand new phone.
I called there support number and asked if 64gb phones were available. All the reviews say 32 and 64gb versions. Guess the USA got the short end on that one. This one is going back, which sucks because I like the blue color.
Oh, and I've also had software issues with two different SD cards. I've gotten corrupt messages but a soft reset fixes it.

Here's my suggestion:
1. Copy all of your files in your PC or laptop.
2. Insert your SD in your phone, then format the SD.
3. Copy your files back.
4. Done.

Already formatted card once after the first message. I think I just got one with a loose slot. It was the only blue one in San Antonio so no chance at exchange until November. Going to return it.

Exchange it immediately man. You just can't use it well with a loose slot.

You might have a defective tray, in which case you could try with a different one. Better than just exchange the whole phone.
Also, not all SDcard are equal, even from the same brand. My caliper told me so when I modded to have 2 SIM and SDcard in the same slot.
SD Card Loose
Hello, there are differences between the design and actual specifications may mean the SIM card holder fits only loosely into the phone.
Huawei smartphones are tested thoroughly before leaving the factory. The Huawei standard for the gap is ≤ 0.25 mm, ahead of the industry standard (≤ 0.3 mm).
If you still have concerns or issues with your SD card slot, please back up important data and take the receipt issued with your phone to an authorized Huawei service center for repair. [ns]
If you have got it recently and if you have time to return, get a replacement. Else go to the service center to rectify it as said by Honor_Noah

But you don't have read problems do you?
I picked up my blue Honor 8 from Best Buy on the 4th. The exclusive to Best Buy thing with the blue color was supposed to end this month and I thought did already. Newegg had preorders for a 64 GB blue Honor 8 for $50 more than the 32GB one. I just didn't want to wait any longer (my phone was a two year old ~$150 Samsung one and I've been eyeing new phones since February waiting for the right one).
I'm using a Samsung Pro+ 64 GB UHS3 in my Honor 8 and had no problems with it fitting snuggly or data transfer speed or integrity. I'd like to get a 128GB (or 256GB since I've heard reports they work) card to expand my storage even further, but I still have ~30GB free so it's not worth it at the moment.

Everything I've read says you can add up to a 512GB SD card. What isn't clear, is that because that's the max size it will accept, or is that because at the time 512GB was the biggest SD card available.

Just did a quick Google Search. Granted that you didn't see the fact that the page only mentions a "SD Card" and not a "Micro SD Card", I did see this video.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gv2j0KIzLLw
So, it looks like it IS a reality, yet this was dated back in Sept 20118. So it's just a matter of when it'll be released. But, it was probably inevitable, anyways.
Keep in mind, I didn't watch the whole video, just paused it when I saw the 1TB MicroSD Card on the screen at 0:07.
Dfwfreaks .. BS
I've always wondered what the problem could be with supporting more storage via sd cards. I mean it is just more storage after all, right? Like if you put a 2TB flash drive in your old PC which was made when the max was 512GB, it should still work fine lol

I'm no expert....
With that said, I'd say it'll work.
The same scenario has played out the same on past phones, exceeding the stated spec when the phone was released.
The 1TB Micro SD Card wasn't on the market when the Note 9 was released, 512 GB Cards were tops at the time, so, I'm guessing that's why 512 GB is the stated maximum external storage capacity.
I understand the hesitation on buying a 1TB Card w/o 100% certainty, as the current pricing on the cards from SanDisk & Lexar are north of $400.
There is a possibility that the Note 9 might support the use of a 1TB microSDCard. As when the Note 9 was release it was said to be able to support microSDCard up to 2TB.
@Arobase40 I didn't know there is a 1TB micro sd card other than Lexar wtf :d
