I have an android head unit 5.1.1 and a s Samsung s7 7.0
I have tried using easy connected but it will not connect it says something about not having access the the serial number, It has been upgraded to the latest version and my phone is up-to-date and have usb debugging turned on.
Is there an alternative app I can use that only needs the usb cord?

Hi all,
I have a stock galaxy note edge, I'm attempting to perform some debugging and I have developer options turned on. When I turn on USB debugging and attached my phone to my windows laptop, it constantly connects and disconnects. You can tell from the sound that windows makes when a new device is connected/disconnected. However when I turn off USB debugging, I am able to browse my phone on my laptop with no problems at all. I have installed the drivers from the samsung website, but to no avail. I tested the same setup and usb cable on my older S3 with cyanogenmod and I could dab to it just fine. Does anyone have any idea why this is happening?
My phone stats:
Android version 5.0.1.
Kernel version 3.10.40-4144270
Baseband version: N915GXXU1BOC4
Which version of Windows are you running?I found XP to be a no go (even with Kies installed),but Seven worked just dandy.
Go figure.
i have a Pioneer AVH-X8700BT and it is both IOS Auto & Android Auto compatible.
Problem is it works fine with an iphone 6s but when i tried it with my new samsung galaxy s7 nothing works!
i tried using both Android Auto and the Mirrolink mode but both nothing.
Tried restarting both car device and phone but nothing.
Also tried with a samsung galaxy s6 and also nothing.
Any ideas?
Same issue here.
My S7 won't connect via Android Auto either. (VW Golf)
Do you have a setting inside the radio for pairing? At least with my radio you have to activate pairing to see the radio
Had the same problem with my S7 Edge from Verizon with my Pioneer 8100NEX. Finally figured out that I have to change the USB options to get it work. After you connect the USB cable, pull down the notification drawer and look for "Connected for charging" notification". Tap that and change "Use USB for" to "Transferring media files". Android Auto worked after that for me.
I didn't have to do this with my S4. Unfortunately for the S7 I have to do this every time I connect my phone. I found this thread because I'm looking for a way to make it the default but haven't had any luck yet.
I had the same problem. Thanks for posting this. Now I also am looking to set the default functionality. Crazy to have to manually switch this every time.
Thanks,

If this works for you to connect - the default functionality can be found under developer options. You can manually force charging, MTP etc there. USB debugging - off / USB configuration - MTP
This is a known official marshmallow issue not isolated to GS7 , LGG5 has same issue listed in google support page. some devices (like my GS7) will not connect after switching USB connection options. I have tried every mode and mine will not work - need a more advanced workaround. I also can't root phone because of corporate network restrictions.
Anyone have an update on this? I have the same issue using Galaxy S6 Edge Plus. I've enabled the developer options and enabled USB Debugging and MTP for the USB connection type with no success. I also can't change options with the connection type in the notification panel.

My S7 Edge Duos seemed to require the disabling of Car Mode as it was interfering with AA's connection. It's a default Samsung piece of unneeded. You can download "Package Disabler Pro for Samsung" from the Playstore. It will allow you to disable apks and stubs without root. I disabled Car Mode and now AA works with the Pioneer 8100 I have. the S7 worked fine with the wife's '16 Accord and AA which was my sticking point. I guess the Pioneers support Car Mode and Mirrorlink so it confuses the hell out of the deck. It's worth the 0.99 cents to see if this works for you. You can also disable all the other bloatware you don't want with it. So it's kind of a win/win for a buck.
Hi I have a Pioneer AVH X8890bt and I want to connect my s6 edge to appradio, however, everytime i plug my phone to the usb it gets connected to android auto, Could anyone guide me as to how to establish a connection. Also, there is a HDMI port at the back of my system and I have learnt that to connect a samsung device you need miracast dongle, so if I buy a dongle will i be able to use the touch function of my car audio or everytime I will have to be dependent on my phone. Please advice.
I flashed the MM upgrade on my US 5.5 and then did a factory reset, but now my Android Auto will not connect to my phone. I've tried swiping down and choosing MTP, but still does not connect. The phone is connecting to Bluetooth. After researching it seems to be a problem with Marshmallow and Android Auto. Does anyone know a fix?
Uninstall drivers and reinstall

There aren't any drivers. This is for Android Auto when I plug in to my Kia Sportage. Android Auto did work before the MM update, and it still works on other phones running 5.1.
Cant you just remove the device from android auto and then reconnect it?

I did remove the device, but Android Auto will not find the phone with the MM update. Seems to be a know issue with Samsung and LG devices.
I finally got Android Auto working by using the Developer options, Select USB configuration, RNDIS (USB Ethernet)

I have the same problem and i tried to put RNDIS but my cell doesnt get the configuration. Did you do something to put it on RNDIS?
I got a new car (Hyundai Kona) with android auto but my Idol 3 5.5 (6045I) will not connect to the car screen. I have MM on it (but not the 2 latest garbage updates). I have tried USB debugging, multiple(10) USB cords. I cannot get RNDIS to work on the USB -it reverts to charging. So my USB is set to MTP. My phone plays AA on it's own screen just fine but will not send it to the car screen. Bluetooth works fine.
The auto dealer rep tried his iphone (apple carplay) and another android phone and they connected just fine so it is not the car.
Any suggestions?
Hello, so i just updated my Galaxy S5 to the newest android 6 version but for some reason i cannot tether it to my PC or to my laptop. I connected the phone via USB to my PC and connected the phone to my wifi network but as soon as i tick the USB tether option it deticks itself back in a matter of just a few milliseconds, i don't know why, i would like to find a solution for this because tomorrow i will probably need to tether my phone to my work laptop.
This quote taken directly from PDANET's website: "Android 7.0 (Nougat) or later no longer allows WiFi mode even for Verizon phones. Please use USB mode or Bluetooth mode instead using our software."
I want to tether the phone to a tablet. I have a cable on order to try the USB method; however is there any sort of work around for this wifi issue?
Thanks
