hi everyone so hopefully by this evening I will be providing instructions on a how-to, to obtain root (bootloader is still locked) with the latest official update AQGL, or GL. Everything is running smoothly so far since yesterday and I have a short video to show that it is rooted on the latest firmware. Here is the link.
Hopefully I can get to it soon. Thanks guys

Hey all,
I immediately blocked any OTA updates since I got my G4 in anticipation for root.
I have three questions
Do the AT&T OTA updates have that anti-rollback feature? I didn't see it confirmed in the thread regarding the anti-rollback but I'm not sure if the info is current.
Is the latest OTA for AT&T the 10g version? Should I enable OTA on my LG G4 now to get it prior to rooting?
Thanks.
So far as i know..no anti-rollback features..
As stated of some members here, latest ota updates doesn't affect rooting...for now

10g is the latest as of yesterday (before I rooted and blocked OTA). If you absolutely can't wait for root, then unfreeze the update apps and get the 10g OTA. If you're on 10e, there's a strong likelihood that you will softbrick your phone if you try to flash the rooted system.img (at least a couple people already did). If you can wait a couple of weeks, just hang tight and wait for codefire to release their one-click unroot since we still don't know about rolling back the bootloader or future unlockability of the 10g bootloader.
I'm on 10g and rooted. I have no intention of running a non stock rom on this device, so blocking updated with Tit back up now, removing bloat and coasting with what I've Got till we find out about a method for custom recoverys yet.
Could someone link me to the thread on how to disable the OTA function? I remember seeing it, but can't find it.

Can you or someone else please list the app(s) that need to be frozen in order to block updates? Thanks in advance.

Has anyone successfully rooted the T-Mobile 5.1.1 OTA update? When I see things like "You can not downgrade from 5.1.1" I get nervous that T-Mobile may be jumping on the signed bootloader bandwagon like AT&T....so I keep postponing it.
Latest from Dec is cok2, and rootable.

Read the entire thing !!!
Read the thread too
I currently have a shield tablet Y01 ,its on stock Nougat (5.1 ota update). not rooted or bootloader unlocked
Previous owner did the recall and new tablet will be here in 3-4 weeks , so tablet is currently working
What can I do to make sure this isnt killed ?
Need a n00b guide really as havent flashed anything since a htc desire
no one ??
Root, then use a root explorer to delete TegraOTA.apk.
Root guide is here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2399737
TegraOTA guide is here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/shield-tablet/general/kill-kill-switch-shield-tablet-xx-t3179489
Alternatively, you can flash any custom ROM. They will prevent the tablet from updating as well.
So... The old killswitch-killer still works on Nougat? I could flash the nvidia stock, delete the TegraOTA.apk and go on with the newest official nvidia version?

Yup, did it successfully yesterday also. After stumbling onto this thread, i was encouraged enough... Went pretty smooth.
BTW, newest FullOTA (WiFi) is available directly from nvidia servers, as An Droid mentions here: http://ota-downloads.nvidia.com/ota...-full_ota-1928188_850.6612.20170219210839.zip
Hello,
Sorry for up this last thread, but I'm in the same position that the OP.
I have a pyro tablet on stock Nougat (the original owner did the recall) and it is still working (for 3 weeks). Is the kill switch disallowed for Nougat?
Should I unlock the bootloader and root it for remove the TegraOTA?
Thank you!
Yes.

Thank you, even for the newest Android versions, I understand. I will try to do all the steps without WiFi, but all seems to be ok until now
Hi everyone!
I recently got my hands on a s8+ (G955f) and i'm trying to root it buy i'm really lost.
I did try to root it one time, twrp+no verity+magisk while on Oreo, then i installed magisk manager and both things seemed ok (at least to my knowledge) but the second i take my eyes off the phone, "only official released binaries...".
After that i installed Pie stock firmware since i couldn't use Oreo.
I'd like to try again but theres a lot of info (new and out of date) and i don't even know whats good and what isn't.
TL;DR: Want to root the phone but i don't know what to do, can someone kindly point me out on what to do/share me a link?
Thank you.

I did look at that but some latest comments saying they got some errors made me wait and ask here, before doing it wrong again but maybe i should just try it.
Anyways, thank you!
Hello All, I know I'm late to the party but I just grabbed a Tab Pro 12.2 VZW version(SM-P905V). I am desperately trying to root to eventually push Linageos. I searched here and there but no luck.

So here we meat again
Did you see this post?
<there appear to be 3 builds of 5.1.1 so far.
the first has had success with kingroot. the others have not been rooted so far.
P905VVRUANK5 - rootable with kingroot (though some people noted they had to run it multiple times)
P905VVRUBOH1 - not rootable so far
P905VVRSBPL1 - not rootable so far>
Which version has yours?

Thank you for responding. Sorry it took so long for me to do so. I had all but given up with the possibility of rooting the device and sent it back. But I ultimately do want one. With your information I now know which unit to look for. Thank you once again, much appreciated.

Imo best would be a P905 without "V".
Effortless rooting and flashing.
The qouted post only refers to V models.
You are privileged to hit the "Like" button now
Well crap I'm stuck. I have the p905vvrsbpl1
. I have had it for years love it but need to update. Can't use it on directv anymore. There has got to be away.
