Since purchasing my S8+ I've been experiencing a problem with music files that I transferred to the device. After most songs play (out of over 8,000) and it fades out, when it should start the next song, it instead plays the last 5 seconds or so of the song that just played. I have tried multiple music playing apps with the same result. I then factory reset and only had the stock music player, with the same problem. Installed several different music players, again with the same result. My music collection does come from my iTunes account, but that shouldn't matter. I did try loading MP3 files that had never been in iTunes, and those do play without issue. That's not an ideal solution, though, since the vast majority of my over 8K songs were in iTunes. Thanks in advance - I would be very grateful for a solution.

I don't like the Google Play Music application much, so basically what I was wondering was if I could play kept google play music songs and albums in another player such as PowerAmp somehow. From what I have seen there is no way to do this because google incorporates some sort of DRM in all of their music files, which makes sense, because they don't want people just copying and pasting kept music files that they didn't actually buy. I have determined the location of the saved music files to be in "root\data\data\com.google.android.music\files\music" if I am in the wrong spot please let me know. I have pulled the saved music files (MP3's) from this location but can not manage to play them in any music player. I also tried running them through a converter just for the hell of it but the converter instantly crashes when I try converting the file. I don't think there is anything that can be done about this but if anybody has any ideas please let me know!
not possible. stop trying
I don't think you can get them from your phone but you can most definitely download the songs to your computer as regular mp3's. You can then put them on your phone and use any media player.
on a desktop/laptop, open google play music. pick what songs you want, then press download. the downloaded songs that you got using google play music desktop can now be played in other music applications.
Even still...if you have not purchased the song, you cannot download it. All of the music in "My Library" that you've uploaded can be dl'd but not songs you randomly hear and "Add to my Library"
Unless I'm doing something wrong....
You can not download music on a pc unless you have purchased that music. On the android application there is however and option to download music to the device in a hidden location (root\data\data\com.android.google.music\files\music). You can download them, but like I said they are encrypted or have some sort of DRM incorporation so you can not play them anywhere but within the play music application. I don't think it's possible. I just wanted a few opinions on it.
Hi Androiders!
I am looking for a particular music player app that is able to mark the point where I stopped listening each mp3 file, so that next time I can resume my listening from that point, even if the device is restarted.
ANY IDEA?
I'm not sure but I think "Poweramp" can do that.
I think u should try Google play music.
GoneMAD does the trick. There's a free trial available and -- at least a few days ago -- there was a special offer for the full version.
A lot of music players do this. But you can try Poweramp ?
Hello I am new here. I have the 5.5" Alcatel Onetouch Idol 3 Unlocked. i am running the most recent version for this phone. I have noticed that there is a playback issue on Google Play Music. Every once in a while it will 'stutter' the music. for example if i am playing a song it will randomly pause and play inconsistently for like a 1/2 a second. I have noticed this only on songs I have uploaded to my Play library from my computer. It does not matter if the song is streaming or downloaded, happens all the time. This does not happen when I am listening to music 'added to my library' from the Play selection. I have not noticed this with the stock music player because I don't use it.
I have also played with developer options but to no avail. I have tried changing the media player from "NuPlayer" to "awesome player" and no change. (However I did notice it made web videos play MUCH BETTER). I also changed logger buffer sizes to the biggest size; 16M per log buffer, I also changed it to the smallest size. No success.
Any solutions?
Thanks is advance.
Known issue with stock. Some people got around it (myself included) by putting downloaded music on internal memory and that stopped it, though never once did streaming music ever skip for me. That being said, there is no reason not to use Cyanogenmod at this point, especially over stock. Those issues do not exist there. Alcatel's stock ROM is pretty god awful, in my opinion.
Howdy, I'm not having any luck getting my playlists I've run for years recognized on this phone. As far as I can tell from my research, Nougat simply does not recognize playlists not made on the phone anymore. Is there not any player that will recognize imported playlist anymore? I cannot believe that after a year of this operating system, there is simply no way to populate playlists off the phone. And I can't even get Music Manager to update online to Google for Play Music either. Is everyone spending hours remaking all their playlists? Am I doomed to use an iPod whenever I want to play my own music as I'd like? Thank-you for any input. I'm tremendously frustrated with this.
I've finally gotten Music Manager to delete the outdated library and am in the process of reuploading my library. However, I'd rather listen to music on my device rather than from the cloud if at all possible.
Update
I was able to accomplish outstanding music management and bring my playlists along to my current phone using iSyncr. It recommends music players of its own which are sufficient. However, the playlists it recreated from my laptop made my old player (PlayerPro) of many years and even Samsung Music start playing playlists again on Nougat. The syncing process was fairly quick and painless.
I was previously the owner of a Samsung Galaxy 10, and had a library of over 2500 songs. This phone had no trouble playing any of them. Now my Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra keeps popping up a message that it is unable to play that song, and plays the next one instead. I thought that because I was using a free music player app that this might be the cause, so I downloaded the Samsung Music Player. It still will not play some songs.
I'm also a bit annoyed that the Samsung Music player will only allow a playlist of 1000 songs maximum. So I now have three Playlists, and must cycle between them. Sure, I could remove 1500 songs, or go through the whole lot and divide them into genre, but I shouldn't have to.
Can anyone tell me why my phone won't play some music (yet my much older phone coped with it easily).
It's possible that those files got corrupted when you transfered them from your old phone. If that's the case, then you'll have to re-copy those files.
What is the file extension on the songs that won’t play? WMA, Windows Media Audio files are not supported by many player apps. I use the Poweramp app on my phone which plays everything I have in my media library.
+1 for PowerAmp.
+2 Poweramp paid version
