Honor 8 FRD - ALD00 Not working well - Honor 8 Questions & Answers

I bought a Honor 8 FRD ALD00 and after 2/3 days, he went on an update and since then never worked well...
I send him to a friend that supposed knew how to fix, but after 1 week the phone went crazy again! Turns off often, Reboots, some apps don't open, others close after some seconds, and many more bugs...
Can anyone help me?

Unlocking using fingerprint slower after a week

So I got my Mate 8 last week and for the first few days the fingerprint reader was extremely fast, maybe less than a second. Now in the last few days it doesn't seem as fast. I don't know if I'm just imagining it or it really is that half second slower? Has anyone else experienced this?

I read somewhere that having more than one fingerprint registered can slow it down. I had 4 registered so deleted 3 and it did seem a little faster.
I experience the same. Maby it's because we have it unused for a longer of period now days and our phone have to come out of deep sleep/doze.
have u tried a cold reboot? i do that once a week and it really helps keep the system fast n snappy

Yes I would reboot my phone fairly regularly but doesn't seem to make any difference. Also I earlier mentioned only having one fingerprint registered speeds it up, I've now found this not to be true because after a few days of only having one fingerprint registered it has gone quite slow again. I notice if I haven't unlocked my phone in a while, like maybe half an hour, then it is particularly slow to unlock. I would guess that the problem is that phone is gone into a deep sleep and thats why it takes that extra half second to unlock?
It's not a huge issue for me so I can live with it for now. Hopefully they might fix it in a future update because it's almost certainly a software issue.
+1 Tried starting and other stuff but issue stil persists. Not that I cannot live without it.

Should I update to EMUI 5?

Hello there!
So from today (After much waiting and checking the updater app) I can update to EMUI 5 (B360)!
But I'm a little bit unsure if I should update because many people have reported issues with it, will just factory reseting the phone after updating to EMUI 5 fix the problems or should I stay on Marshmallow until full Nougat comes out?

This is the only Nougat your going to get
And sure a factory reset is always good after a major OS update

If you care about battery life you shouldn't upgrade imo

I can confirm my battery life took a dive. I am now *charging* my phone when I drive home from work. I didn't need to do this before with MM. Sadly Huawei screwed up the battery life and no solution in sight.
Here are some likes and dislikes on it. I do suggest you read before you update. Once updated, rollback would require you to reset.

I personally can´t recommend it. Battery for me isn´t bad but I´m having a ridiculous amount of graphical glitches, bugs with notifications and sometimes apps like camera, can´t be opened on the lockscreen cause some lockscreen elements overlay and won´t allow interaction with the camera app until I restarted my phone.
Seems like people having all kinds of different issues, that others don´t have.
Really weird.
I have been running EMUI 5 since the UK beta ( about 3 months)
I have only ever put official OTA updates on my phone.
I'm having none of the issues with my phone.
No glitches, no lags no problems.
My battery life is excellent it lasts from 8am through to 7am the following morning and normally has about 30℅ left when I charge it each morning between 7-8am
I use my phone heavily all day and watch TV on it in bed every night for at least 2 hours
I'm very pleased with my honor 8

Battery is a tiny bit worse, but it fixed the NFC issues, so definitely worth upgrading (no more red lights 1/3 of the time rendering it useless on Transport for London services, and it can read a passport now, and an HK Octopus card consistently...).
A factory reset was needed after upgrading to fix some weird behaviour.

Updated, and well the battery is draining faster than usual but it drains about the same speed that it drained when I first got the phone.... But I believe that the battery will be back to normal in a couple of days.

I have updated and I must say, I really love the new features and that they fixed some of the bugs
Only glitch I've found is with the gyroscope. Only had the phone a day so not sure what it was like before the update, but this video suggests it only happened after updating;

Whether anyone else has had this problem?

How to fix shaky Gyroscope in Honor 6x

I just purchased new Honor 6x from Amazon in India. I tried watching VR videos today with Aura VR headset. The video was constantly shaking. I did not see such issue with my earlier Honor 6 (no x..). I tried to calibrate the gyroscope using a few apps I could find in the playstore but nothing helped. This is a great phone but gyroscope is really messed up. I tried using Bubble Level and the reading continously fluctuates on a flat surface from 0.2 to 0.6 on both axis.
Is there a way to fix this issue?

Ok. Received the replacement phone and it has the same issue.
After talking to Huawei Tech Support, I did, firmware upgrade (though I had the upgraded version already) and factory reset. Nothing seems to be working and my phone still feels earthquake on a flat stable surface.
Is there any non-rooting way to fix this issue? I am being asked by Huawei to take my one-day-old phone to service center...
Went to Service center. They did software reset but no help. They wanted to keep the phone to do hardware testing and I denied - didn't want to have a one-day-old phone opened and played with. I returned the handset. Issue still exists.
Ur phone is not defective
It is rhe problem with all honor 6x devices and not just urs maybe it will be fixed in updates.. Just to let u know Ur device is not defective sadly gyroscope is like that in all 6x
All the Honor 6x's have the same problem because huawei decided to cheap out and use the accelerometers as a virtual gyro. It sucks but i dont use gyro that much, no big deal for me.

EMUI is not for me

Hey there
Not a bad horse that M8 ... Battery lasts for ages, no regrets having swapped it for my N6P that was complete garbage.
But it seems like EMUI is not all there... Lots of quirks, error messages all the time.
I don't mind flashing a new rom in there but it seems like CM is not an option.
Can I get some advice about good stable ROMs for my phone? I'd me happy with just a generic Android...
Cheers.

What errors do you get? And what build do you have?
I've never had any issues with EMUI and it is the best phone I've ever had.

I think developer for Mate 8 is no more. If you can see here, only 1 developer have succeed to make custom rom for this phone but only with alpha build. so what do you expect from mate 8..for now i just saw that Honor 8 came the same spec as Mate 8. If someone can port the rom it can be a first step to make it happen.

Loads. Sometimes it just reboots by itself.
Cant use voice control with Waze as I get some error messages relative to recordings. Cant use beautiful widgets, the time wont update. Cant use ACR, getting error messages relative to recording, and this is only a few examples.
When an error message comes up, no matter how many times you press ok, it keeps coming back, only a reboot can stop that.
The worse bug I have is with the alarm. Sometimes it just wont wake me up and I turn up 1hr late at work. Sometimes the calibration of the GPS goes completely off, especially in the CBD (this is possibly not due to EMUI).
Seems like EMUI is not really adequate for western type apps.
So is it not possible at all to have a genuine Android version running on Mate 8??
Why is it the best phone you ever had?

i do not have all the above problems.
Try to reset the phone.
For the widget not update, you need to excluded it in the battery settings.
For me, i like to manually update the widget as auto update will consume more battery.

WTF is happening with Huawei devices right now?

My Huawei devices have started refreshing the screen every few second. It started this evening, and is happening with ALL apps and browsers, and when turned off, the login screens keep coming back on on their own. It is impossible to do anything with them. This is happening to my P40 Pro, P20 Pro and Mediapad M5 10.8. Its an absolute nightmare. A friend with a P30 says his is doing the same thing. Is anyone else experiencing this with a Huawei device?
It sounds unbelievable, have you found the problem and solved it?
Your phone is possessed. Time for an exorcist. Obvious is obvious.
maybe check developer settings ....
No problems on my wife's P40 Pro.
My guess is that there's an app that's installed on yours and your friend's phone that's causing this issue.
Since no one else got this issue
Never heard of this problem. So yeah...must be something you and your friend have in common.

Someone else said, you must have something installed that's causing this I have both the p40 pro and the matepad and I have zero issues & my wife has a p30 pro (my old device) and she has zero issues.... how long has it been going on? I would compare the apps that you both have with your friend and see if you can pick out what maybe causing it?
Potentially have a look into your App Permissions. There is an option under "Advanced" for "Draw over other apps" which potentially could be the issue (Facebook bobble heads prime example)
My P30 and P40 Pro both working fine here!
Seriously, it was impossible to use my phone or tablet on Saturday night with this happening. Everything seems to have calmed down now so unless a load of app updates were installing and that was the issue, I can't think what else it could've been.
