S7-G930F/FD Issue - Samsung Galaxy S7 Questions and Answers

Hello everybody,
Yesterday I went to local phone reseller and bought used SM-G930FD for a good price. It's condition is flawless, came with tempered glass aplied also stickers on camera and heart monitor. Tested before purchasing and everything was working. When I came home only then I noticed that it had SuperSU installed and at that moment ran android 6.0 with 2016 security patch. After some reading I loaded the firmware from 2nd post via odin selecting three options :https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s7/how-to/official-stock-firmware-update-odin-t3369431
1)Auto reboot
2)Re-partition
3)F-reset time
Note that the phone had no "secure startup" option so I didn't need to set pin. After it booted up the phone no longer detected my sim, which prior worked with android 6.0 also download mode says it's SM-G930F, but software reports it being SM-G930FD and I have option to select 2 sims in menu?
Also yes, the knox is tripped, which I didn't notice before purchase, I have few options in mind, which one would you do if you were in my case?
1) Return the phone with reason that there's no signal and choose another SM-G930F which 95 percent will have knox tripped aswell, as they're all used.
2) Solve the no signal issue myself and continue using the phone with knox tripped as the condition of phone is 10/10 (Is my phone more prone to viruses and malware without knox? I came from iphone, but prior used android and take good care of my phone)
3) Ask for refund
Note 2: The seller also gave me a 6 month warranty which might work/might not depends if the seller knows about knox?
Thank you.

Im downloading SEB(Baltic firmware), that should fix the sim issue. Can't tell you why I loaded netherland firmware
Imei should be okay, incase not, how do I check?
Could you possibly check how fast does this file is being downloaded for you? For me 6-10 hours.

Had the same exact issue. I've noticed the presence of SuperSU and I know what does it mean on a Samsung device. Checked both IMEI (*#06* and on the back of the device) and turns out it was changed or swapped to a different one... and just like you, my phone was running Marshmallow with Security patch from 08-2016. I though there was no problem updating it to 7.0 but after phone booted up i've noticed it lost network connectivity (kept on "Emergency calls only"). Started to research and found out that there is a box which is called "Z3X box or Samsung PRO" which modifies the IMEI and then patches the phone in certain way it becomes dual sim even thought is not really (you will see a second IMEI with only zeros and phone becomes G9XXFD but it's really a F only). The solution, at least for me, was to get someone to patch the modem once again using the box i've mentioned and I got signal back. Only downside is you won't be able to factory reset nor update in any way, flash another ROM or remove root because you will lose the patch again and lose signal. Hope I was clear.

You should download the latest firmware from sammobile
To check IMEI *#06#
If it is like 000.. or "null" then it is IMEI problem and then You need a z3x box to properly fix it (or give it to mobile repair shop)
If it is okay , then no problem . . . . .

Yes , z3x box is the best toolbox for changing or repairing IMEI or for doing other useful stuffs
but if IMEI is okay then there is a option to repair network
it directly repairs the efs folder and get the network active again
In my case , I am using S3 i9300 and whenever i flash stock firmware with odin then the network issue always SUCKS even if IMEI is okay !!!!!!!!

There's 2 Imeis, one with numbers, one with 0000

Yes, he could patch the modem using Z3X but like I said he couldn't be able to update the phone nor flash custom ROM's. That's the catch with the S7

Check if the one from *#06# is different from the one on the back of your phone, look carefully because sometimes it can be 90-95% similar

I returned the phone and instead he gave me a golden one. This unit runs 6.0.1 with 2016 March 01 security patch. Only one imei and know is not triggered. The drawbacks are some dents on metal frame, slight burn in of Facebook, didn't came with tempered glass and no more stickers on camera or heart monitor. I plan to flash the baltic firmware via odin, is there any chance it'll trigger knox? I'll do repartition as well

[Q] Mobile network not available & Serial number messed up

Hi,
My Verizon galaxy S3 has not been able to connect to anything but data (4G LTE only though, not 3G/2G/anything else) recently.
I can remember going through some flashing where I flashed Cyanogenmod (Nightly from around March 28th 2012) and the latest modem.
The issue is that neither calling nor sms works.
I noticed that when I flashed (using heimdall) 4.0.4 back to the S3, the serial number was all 0s (eleven if I remember correctly, so it was 00000000000).
The IMEI is correct, according to the settings.
What should I try to get it working?
Some background info on it: It was purchased at Walmart in mid-March, so it can't be returned to Walmart due to being passed the return window.
Currently I'm running 4.1.2 which I had to flash via Odin (I decided to try Odin since I had access to it for a period of time). It was not possible to update the phone from 4.0.4 to the newest system because of it only downloading about 30 MB (over Wifi, which still works).

Thanks, I'll give that a try.
And just FYI: The IMEI isn't all zeros, but rather, the serial number is.
Update: Still not working.
I entered the IMEI from behind the battery in and nothing seems to have changed.
One thing I found interesting is that the MEID is not the same as it is when the program says it has changed it.

I dont remember where I found it but look for a program on xda called "Samsung MEID Repair V4.0" or "XDA Samsung Repair Utility (Verizon Galaxy SIII). I believe you can use that program to repair your MEID #.

To be honest, those programs were in the linked page for the first reply you gave me.
They didn't work for changing what the program sees as the MEID.
But the phone reads it in Settings just fine.

helpmeee please :crying:
I'd recommend using Odin/heimdall to restore to stock, then have some Verizon person try to fix it.
That's what I did (be sure to reset flash counter) and they got everything but SMS working, which installing CM fixed.

Extremely weird stuff going with S6.

Hey, so I just bought a second hand s6. When purchasing I only checked the major hardware stuff like everything in *#0#* and the calling etc and didn't bother to check other stuff which is stupid on my part. Anyway, when I got home and tried to use themes nothing happened. The Theme Store button didn't do anything when I tapped it and still didn't work after I added a samsung account and everything. There a bunch of other issues as well such as all the options in the System Update menu being pretty much useless, they all did nothing when I tapped on them.
Sorta got fed up of all this and decided to do a factory reset. Once I get back into the phone after reset, the screen grid option that you get when you pinch in was greyed out which is really annoying since the 4x4 is just not for me. Then I decided to root it so I can just get a custom rom in and get rid of all these issues altogether but when I got into download mode it said the phone's version is G920P instead of G920F. The guy I bought from said it's the international G920F and it even says G920F in the about phone section. The confusing thing is that it instead says G920P when I get into download mode. I don't even know what it is anymore, is it sprint or is it international ?
Anyway, is there any fix to all the issues I've been having like the screen grid option being greyed, the system updates menu being useless and the theme store not working at all.
Also, what do I do about rooting and roms ? Do I treat it as a sprint variant or an international variant? It'd be a pretty massive bummer if it's sprint since there are pretty much no worthwhile roms for me.
Pls halp
Here's all the stuff it says in About Device:
Model Number: SM-G920F
Android version: 5.1.1
Baseband Version: G920FXXU2COH2
Kernel Version: 3.10.61-5496010

This bad or good ? ;-;
Also worth mentioning that it says 920F on the back as well. Would flashing the whole stock firmware of 920F through odin be a feasible option ? It says 920F on the back so it has to be that variant right ? If this is possible please direct me to a firmware I should flash and a guide of how to do it, bit of a noob here.
Bumping this up before going to sleep, any help would be appreciated, thanks.
When I get mine s6 there was a sticker at the back showing its serial number. It's written on its box also. If you have this you can use Samsung kias to flash the firmware designed for your phone.
There's an S/N at the back, I'm assuming this is the serial number. I want to root and install some custom roms though but I'm not sure how to go about doing that since I don't know what version my device exactly is.
Pls halp
Attached a screenshot with more info. Hope this helps.
I'm not sure what the previous owner did but your device code name zerofltespr is P variant.
I see, so I should treat it as a sprint variant for rooting and custom roms then ? Just making sure before I go through with the stuff so I don't brick the phone.
Also, anyone got up to date links for how to root and install custom recovery on the sprint version of the s6 ?
@Skyrus5150
Download the Phone Info app for Samsung, take a screenshot and post it here.
Settings show G920F, that can be changed by editing build.prop but the back cover shows 920F as well? That's the odd part.
The previous owner has somehow got the device name to show zerofltespr which is a G920P (Sprint). Not sure how he got a CDMA device code on a GSM device.
Boot into Download Mode, see what it says there, that can't be changed as far as I know.
It will show the actual model number, whether it's 920F or 920P.
Here you go, what should I do. Yeah the bootloader says 920p but the back is 920f, maybe the phone was opened or smith.
Pls halp
Downloaded root checker, according to it the phone's rooted as well. Downloaded TWRP Manager as well, should I just go ahead and install custom recovery with it and select S6 Sprint in the device options ?

Rooted with 0x0 KNOX, some dark magic is at work here. Maybe engineering bootloader?
Anyway, just download a G920P stock firmware and flash it. Then proceed to do a factory reset/data wipe in stock recovery and have your phone back to normal, which is a G920P.
Back says G920F, but it should show an IMEI and S/N as well, do they match those of your phone? I'm certain they don't, but still... check.

LOL, the back says 920F but I entered the IMEI into two different checking services and they both show it as a 925F (S6 Edge), this phone is going places.
Anywho, the stock firmware is supposed to be flashed through odin yes ? Could you please link me to a guide and links to download, maybe even let me know which specific firmware I'm supposed to install. Sorry, I'm a former LG user and I have no idea how Odin and all these shenanigans work. Also, the phone will remain unlocked even after flashing stock firmware, yes ? Currently using it in Pakistan.

920i - no sim/no registered network after marshmallow update

Hi,
This is my first post but, I'm an avid lurker. I am having some issues with my girlfriends 920i. It received an OTA update to marshmallow and ever since it won't read the Sim card. I've tried to flash the official fw through Odin and still having the same problem. Because it doesn't read my Sim card, I have zero access to any mobile network settings.
I am wondering if when they updated the marshmallow, I lost unlock capability.
Also, her imei and sn still match. Most of the problems I see people have are mismatched numbers, and her phone seems fine.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
So, I checked the firmware that I flashed and it was INS which seems to be the locked version.
I flashed the INU firmware this morning but still not reading my SIM.
I'm out of options at this point, I'm going to go back to lollipop and see how that goes.
Hi,
I am having this issue for my SM G-920I since 2/3 Jan, 2017. I am using fine on US Tmobile network since Oct 2015, but all of a sudden got the no SIM, emergency calls only and continues to stay like this.. I am curious to know if you resolved the issue and how. Thanks for any feedback!
Help me please
I'm having the same issue. Just flashed INS 6.0.1 firmware on my brand new G920I and now i can't get any mobile signal or data. Tried to flash ZTO firmware for my country, but same issue. My phone was fine before flashing INS firmware. IMEI it's fine too. Recovery shows: Applied multi-csc. What can i do? ((((((((((

Already updated and tried to downgrade to 5.1.1, but no sucess. I don't think it's a hw problem, cause it was working before the INS firmware flash, and IMEI number still shows right, no matter what rom i flash (now on MIUI). Can i clean EFS partition and try to flash ZTO firmware again, or i might lost my IMEI and get more problems? Also, wondering if advanced wipe with everything checked on TWRP can help. (data, internal storage, system, sbfs, cache, dalvik cache)

Codes on my dialer doesn't work, but i'm sure the IMEI is right cause it's showing in phone information. Also, radio is on cause when i search for mobile networks the carriers of my country appears on the screen but when i click on then, just appears a message saying that can't connect
Same problem, any solutions?
I had same issue for over a year, you can check details in my thread, resolved by factory warranty motherboard replacement (free of charge, even thou knox was tripped when I bought it, and I told lady in authorised repair shop that i don`t have warranty).
Forgot to mention that I also tried to repair it via Octoplus box, both by me and some other people (wanted a second opinion), DRK fixed, few new certs written, etc.), not only by flashing fw via Odin or Smart Switch.
And I was 99% sure it was hw, turns I was right.
P.S. country dependable: - in some countries they will probably want to sell you a new motherboard in Samsung (happened to me), but in other factory warranty will be accepted (probably, if the phone is not older than 3 yrs I guess)

Samsung Galaxy S7 G930F with G930V Bootloader??

I recently bought S7 SM-G930F, but when I went into it's phone info and recovery, I saw that it has a Verizon bootloader. All the rest is of 930f. even the phone says 930f everywhere. I am not sure what this is. I am also facing some signal dropping issues, especially when I switch on to data network. I did the refurbishment check and it came out clean and original.
Can someone please guide me how to fix this? Perhaps a way to change the bootloader to that of 930F without screwing up the phone?
Please find the pics attached for reference.
Thanks in advance for the help.

you phone is a verizon see the snapdragon chipset and the baseband version
either you have flashed a phone with G930F kernel and rom
or whoever sold this to you tried to scam you
dont flash the F bootloader
Your phone is the verizon version which are much cheaper in comparison to the unlocked exynos variants
Flash verizon rom to get back proper caLL functions

Thanks for the response. I think I got scammed then. Two things though:
1) It somehow seemed to work the 1800 band for 4g, which is supported by 930F and not 930V I believe.
2) secondly, even the back of my phone says 930F .. like everything about it says 930F .. like is even the body changed??

2) secondly, even the back of my phone says 930F .. like everything about it says 930F .. like is even the body changed??

you can get a new back which can say anything for 10$

i don't have the option to update either! i'm guessing i'll face the same problem with odin, or possibly brick it when trying to flash it with Verizon rom. so not sure what to do.

does your mobile network (signals) die randomly? especially when you turn on 4g?

I recently bought S7 SM-G930F, but when I went into it's phone info and recovery, I saw that it has a Verizon bootloader. All the rest is of 930f. even the phone says 930f everywhere. I am not sure what this is. I am also facing some signal dropping issues, especially when I switch on to data network. I did the refurbishment check and it came out clean and original.
Can someone please guide me how to fix this? Perhaps a way to change the bootloader to that of 930F without screwing up the phone?
Please find the pics attached for reference.
Thanks in advance for the help.

I flashed S7 Verizon Sm930v Android 7.
Firmware - G930VVRS4BQC9
Process is simple if u know how to use odin its like regular flash.
And yes this firmware comes with all the verizon bad stuffs but good thing is that most of them can be disabled.I wouldnt care if i wanted to use Nought on my phone.
Still network signal is poor though.

more surprises. damn. but hey thank you for this. can you please tell me which site you used to check this?
so I successfully managed to flash the Verizon rom. Now my question is, can we altogether remove Verizon and have some debloated or 930f bootloader/rom instead? I saw one video where he converts 930v to 930f but he gave no links to the files he used.

I flashed this rom but my network issue is still there, it just got 'x' and gives me the error of no connectivity. Happens mostly when I turn on the data, and just doesn't come back.

Baseband and IMEI unknown after attempted downgrade.

Hi! I had tried to downgrade my note 5 back to marshmallow, and have no imei and cannot connect to the network now. I have flashed back to nougat and still have nothing. Could anyone please help?
Hello all! It seems when I tried to go back to nougat I wasn't installing the latest nougat update, which caused the baseband to be mismatched with the bootloader. I installed the latest version of nougat (which I paid $15 for because software update websites did not have it to download in fast speeds and I was anxious that my precious note would be dead) by flashing it with Odin. I am posting this update to make sure if anyone else has the same problem they will successfully be able to recover from the issue.

Unfortunately, I did exactly what you've done, came here with same problem, and still need solution. My baseband info is null, IMEI blank, and my phone can't receive cellullar network.
the worst thing is, I forgot to backup EFS before doing this :crying:
what I've tried :
1. flash again to stock nougat : didn't bring back my IMEI and baseband info
2. flash again with stock MM : didn't bring back my IMEI and baseband info
3. flash with lollipop rescue firmware T-mobile (4 files-got somewhere in google), odin failed when flashing s.param, as in pict attached below
Really need help please, what else can I do to solve this problem. I don't want my note 5 become an iPod Touch
If someone have link for rescue firmware for N902T or solution for odin failed above, will be grateful

i also have the same issue....is there anyone who can help us
I just encountered the same thing except I'm still on the start screen. I can't get into the device due to FRP but I feel I may have null IMEI and baseband too. If I don't get it fixed soon then I guess I'll just sell it or something.

This ERD1 flashing also worked for my SM-N920T which lost its baseband, IMEI and subsequently SIM Network. Now its fine again.

Hello guys I did the same thing on my Att Note 5! And found the easy fix to get everything back to normal!
Fix:
1. Just use Odin as usual!
2. Put files in appropriate slots AP, BL, CP, CSC
3. Go to options and check nand erase all, re-partition, auto reboot and F. Reset time.
4. Hit start and wait for the green Pass! Let it reboot as usual and Boom, all will be back to the way it should! [emoji106]
Hope this helps!

Heya @Goody68, tried that because I have the same problem (no efs back up, baseband unknown, imei null) but re-partition doesn't seem to work. Odin fails and log shows:
<ID:0/005> Can't open the specified file. (Line: 1892)
<OSM> All threads completed. (success 0 / failed 1)
Any idea what to do next?

this what worked for me after sleepless nights for just reading and searching the google. lot of website gives instructions, but non of them worked for me.
i am not good at giving instruction but i will just say what i did, and it's up to you if you will follow it. this is just to add idea for you that may work for you.
i apologize for not providing link. just google them and add "xda" as keyword to your search as much as possible.
downloading from sammobile gets error when using winzip or winrar to extract them. just use 7-zip. they are working i guarantee you.
the root of all these baseband unknown, no imei error is after i flashed to nougat first version.
what i did exactly that worked for me after hundred of trial and errors from the tip of all website and for my own experiment is,
1. i rooted my phone and flashed Nobleltetmo_N920TUVU3DPG1_Stock_Deodexed.zip to make my phone lollipop version.
2. then flashed as of today feb 2, 2019, i downloaded from sammobile N920TUVS6ERH1_N920TTMB6ERH1_TMB.zip downloaded from sammobile, when extracted this is the file N920TUVS6ERH1_N920TTMB6ERH1_N920TUVS6ERH1_HOME.tar.md5
i don't know but it worked. probably luck. anyway just try the latest version.
this is all i have tried that did not worked for me, i have deleted others to free space on my pc. just keep away from these list.
