I had cracked it 3 Month ago. But had an inshurance. I payed for that 85€. Th coasts of the repai 210€.
But at repairig they damaged the Mainboard so it is about 500€
Now i get a new phone .
But until now I wayt tree month to get my phone back
Got mine cracked 2 days ago while it was in my pocket although it was fitted in a decent case (https://www.spigen.com/collections/htc/products/htc-u-11-case-rugged-armor) and nothing else was inside my pocket.
I had almost 9 HTC phones and this by far is the worst not to mention the touch problem.
Patiently waiting for the V30
....
I thought for sure I was gonna end up with a shattered phone at an amusement park, always ride with phone in pocket but not a good idea with this phone.
....
Well at the moment there are no parts available at all! How much HTC wants for the repair?

No parts available in the market or eBay or aliexpress. I am sure HTC does offer repairs for the U11 but no one knows the exact price. Mine is cracked as well and I would like to fix it.

That's ridiculous. This is my first htc phone since I had the Droid Incredible. I won't be buying another one. They seem to be out of touch with the rest of the oems. I've never had a problem sourcing replacement parts for other brands.
I can't believe HTC don't have their own screens for their flagship phone, ridiculous. I'm in same boat but sick of it so got a s8+ and the screen makes up for the htc's advantages, defo, cheap too now on contract. Selling my fully working U11 for £200
Oh my GOD! My htc u11 is cracked also and the original lcd screen cannot found in the Turkey! I cannot purchase even ebay because it exceeds tariff limit. And I decided to wait until the prices decrease and the lcd screen is available. It is nonsense that HTC cannot provide replacement part!!
You can find them on Aliexpress. They cost around 150 $.

Witrigs now also has OEM lcd + digitizer sets for about 110$ : https://www.witrigs.com/replacement-parts-for-htc-u11
It's just sad that they don't have a disassembly video for our model yet.

Well there are a couple of teardown videos and it is pretty straightforward.
The only thing that concerns me is that I cannot find an LCD adhesive tailored to the screen size. I don't want to cut stripes.

Well, just cracked the screen 4 days of. Rang HTC, they said the mobile would be without warranty even if I send to them. Then I'd need to fill some form, send, wait, pay, etc bla bla bla and all that would take around 2 weeks.
As I was gonna be w/o warranty, I decided to fix here in London. Sent yesterday and got it back today. £149 was the cost.
Looks the same, service well done but I THINK the whites are a bit washed out when using the camera. I might be wrong but I have this impression.
HTC U11 screen crack repair
If the screen gets crack you better apply some tape on it before repair, to prevent further injury. Just get a new screen from witrigs, cost $48.85 to fix a crack screen, budget.

which one will live longer as in year or more ?
I heard that the Mugen and others lose the ability to hold charge faster than the stock ones ?
I bought a third party one off ebay and it stopped holding charge in about 4 month.
Although the mAh has high numbers on these batteries, they don't make a difference in usage time with the original htc batteries imo.
Sent from my HTC Desire HD using XDA
If you are into DIY, I would recommend using the Sensation battery mod. If you want a second battery, not as replacement, it is always better to use stock battery for longer lasting.
Read through the Mugen threads on this forum (and other devices' accessories forums).
I think the feedback is generally positive.
After 1 year, my OEM battery was OK, but far from its original capacity (subjective, but still). So any "good" phone battery will degrade over time, it's a very punishing environment.
I don't know how the Mugen will be after 1 year - I hope it's OK, since I bought one 2 months ago. The 1500mAh seems real, and it's started well for me.
I think the Mugen is actually cheaper than a replacement HTC battery (don't even think about the ebay rip-offs), so since they are well constructed I think it makes sense to buy one of theirs.
Also consider a battery pack, you can get a good (NewTrent) 5000mAh pack for €25 or so off Amazon. They are even made with a 11000mAh capacity...
Stock battery is the best option. Mugen has not that much more capacity, and is 4 times more expensive.
I replaced my old one by 1 year, and keep the old one for back-up.

How much is a stock battery for you???
I bought the Mugen one for €32, I think it was, free shipping.
In HTC's online store their battery is on sale at €40. Could be cheaper elsewhere, but I really doubt you'll find one for €8.
They are for sale for around €10 on Ebay. Bought mine here in The Netherlands for €13...
That is much cheaper then the Mugen, I'm not paying triple for maybe a few Mah more.
And all original items in the HTC shop are way overpriced;p

Beware of most of those cheap original batteries. Although original, they are refurbished items. So they are used items, usually from returned phones, or dead phones, or whatever. So they're not new.
Sometimes, mostly not. Most of them are brand new, and if not the seller attents you on this.

Unfortunately I made both experience on ebay. It seems like luck which one you get.
My stock battery was really down after one and a half year usage. It didn't reach a whole day anymore... But I bought a new stock version.
Well if you don't trust it on Ebay, lots of shops in the UK/US sell them for a little bit more, just as were I bought mine.
Everyone who wants to pay more for almost the same, buy yourself a Mugen

So i bought from ebay new screen .. got it when I was in holiday in Ireland and from dosens of youtube turtarials 'how to' replaced my screen
now replaced it by the book, and before glueing and srewing everything back i tested my work... BUT when phone boots up screen was pushing itself(like I was touching the screen but he did that for himself), turned off and tought maybe i didnt connect propely the connector, reconnected, booted up but the same... Now rubbed the connector with vodka and connected but also the same.. conntaced the seller and in the end sent back the screen and got a money refund.
Now I'm looking again into this because i cannot live without my sensation ... Can you think was the previous screens digitalizer to fault or something else that i should keep in mind in buying&replacing screen, what sellers can you reccomend in ebay(that ships to Latvia)

My screen broke too on falling...
and my phone was out of warranty..
I am in India...i went to the HTC service centre and they said it would cost INR 6500 (£ 72)...too high...
but then I spoke to one of the HTC employess in private and he agreed to do it for INR 1800 (£ 20)...I did not get a receipt obviously as he did it unofficially..he did a fairly decent job...screen has been working flawlessly for about 2 months now
since you are spending £ 11 on the screen...you could try something like this...
Also HTC customer care has a special tool to remove and reattach screen...bcoz when i tried replace the screen on a friends sensation with the help of you tube vids...I ended up with poor results (improper sticking and dust)
Replaced screen successfully! with great quality! Thanks! Can close the thread
Hello,
I need to change my faulty z1c (D5503) screen (lcd + digitizer) for the 2d time in a few months (broken screen in the 1st time, water damage + alcohol isoprop ... in the 2d time) and choose the right seller.
I checked on the market + this forum and here are my findings :
1) Witrigs (100 US dollars, so quite expensive) http://www.witrigs.com/oem-lcd-with-digitizer-for-sony-xperia-z1-compact
2) Stellatech (quite expensive - 100 EUR) : http://stellatech.com/sony-xperia-z...lete-display-lcd-touchscreen,a,en,816110.html
3) Aliexpress : (24 us dollars ...) : http://www.aliexpress.com/item/For-..._73_74_75,searchweb201527_3,searchweb201560_9
Could anyone tell me if the 3) can be as good as the first 2 ?
Cheers to all

Can you share a pic of your Z1C with this screen pls?
i've got some through a dutch shop, costing me 77Eur, seems to me that it isn't exactly same as original sony as colors were quite different (too much saturated/red).
now it's only WITH a frame, not sure if that's easier to deal with for repair:
http://telecom2day.com/sony/sony-xp...ay-lcd-unit-met-frame-sony-xperia-z1-compact/
ps, aliepress is not fast in delivering stuff, so if you want it before the end of the year, better look somewhere else
I bought this one and mounted it myself, and i have'nt noticed any difference in quality from the original display. Just make sure to watch a video tutorial on how to change it.
Adhesive tape and correct tools was not included, but ordered from china.

Some how, I got unlucky and touch input broke down on me. Tried a lot,but phone is written off now. Went to nexus 5x and happy.
I bought a display from ebay for 30$, and it is working great. Not original though, but have'nt noticed any difference at all. Been using it for 3 months without a single problem.
It was this one: http://m.ebay.com/itm/UK-Touch-Disp...i-Compact-M51w-D5503-/221822457294?nav=SEARCH
To people who ordered from ebay: Which glue did you buy?
And what does it mean "no frame" ? Do you need to salvage this 'frame' from your broken screen?
I just broke my screen. Dropped it from 20cm at just the right angle I guess I've been doing some research, looks like you can't replace only the digitizer without special tools?
I've got mine from Ebay, it came with glue also. It has the same colors like the original one and it's working flawless for 5 months now.
Here is the link for the display I've bought.
Hello,
let me throw another hat in the ring: I bought my screen assembly from parts4repair, they sell them starting at 32 €. I bought the one for 42 €, as it is supposed to be the original replacement part. I did not realize any different colors. Delivery took about 6 weeks and packaging was really good (stable, well protected).
In another thread I already posted about this little project, here it is again:
I did completely disassemble my Z1compact recently and replaced back housing and the screen, using adhesive stickers (they were even said to be the original, real deal. I cleaned the contact areas with cleaning alcohol prior to reassembling the phone, so everything was just as intended). Everything worked fine, looked just as new - but after only 2 days, the adhesive did already start to loosen again in different areas!
I told a friend of mine about the problem (he fixes mobile phones the whole day long, as a profession), and he answered that they never use the stickers, but a special kind of silicone! The important part is, that it is a silicon which hardens without releasing acid (normally acetic acid is fumed out), so the electronic circuits do not become damaged. I bought one like this: Silicon Adhesive and everything worked fine It's been two months now and there are no problems, it's even water proof again.
Some comments: The silicone needs at least 24h to harden, I placed my phone under 4 heavy books in order to apply steady pressure during that time. That may have been a little bit too heavy, however, because the screen is a little bit lower than before and I can see small, somewhat "lighter" areas right where the contacts of the screen are, just the kind like pressing your finger on a lcd display too much. So better use only 2 books during hardening the silicone
Happy tinkering!
I got the same problem with my phone - I broke digitizer on my weekend trip... I don't know guys if it's an option for you, but in Poland you can replace screen much cheaper:
https://www.w-support.pl/klienci-indywidualni/koszt-naprawy.html (sorry, it's in polish... w-support is official Sony service - whole screen replacement costs 399 PLN (less than 100€)

I bought LCD with digitizer, tools and glue for about 200PLN (less than 50€) and the seller claims it's an original one... Of course there may be some problems with foreign shipment but I think it shall work in EU for most of the sellers.
I let you know in a few day - I am waiting for delivery right now...

I made a post HERE about a water damaged screen, long story short after buying two cheap screens online and sending them both back for a refund because I wasn't happy with either of them I bit the bullet and sent my phone to Sony for a genuine OEM replacement to be fitted. Neither of the cheap screens came with the ASF and didn't have the foam that was attached to the back of my original.

The first screen had lifted a little so that made me question the adhesive too, from reading online I then thought it was because I hadn't cleaned the frame properly, so made sure I had before laying the second screen, but that eventually started to lift too. I found the same as you in regards to the screen, the colours just weren't right and had to use full brightness which then obviously chews through the battery. I even reflashed my phone to see if that made a difference, as we know there are two different panels used I thought maybe when the phone gets reflashed it may configure it for the display that's attached but it didn't.
If the X Compact had a better spec I would have bought it and a cheap screen for the Z1C as that would be going in the wardrobe along with the Arc S and Ray hopefully never to be seen again for another 50 years, but as it's going to be my daily for a little while longer I just want it perfect.
UPDATE:
Just heard back from Sony today and not good news. First of all they emailed me to say a quote was available to view in my support which basically said it was uneconomical to repair and offered an equivalent phone for a cost of £250+, baffled by their quote and comments I then got straight on the phone as all my Z1C needs to function is a screen , the operator told me to get the phone back to a guaranteed status the technician had wanted to replace more parts. To a degree I can see where they are coming from but having already had two screens on with no issues other than the poor quality of them it's quite annoying.
So as my hand has been forced a screenless Z1C will be going on ebay as soon as I get it back, and I'll be ordering a Z5C tonight.

Screen arrived last friday, picked it up at the local postoffice today. As far as I can see so far it looks good, I still have to install it later this week.
I just got the built screen in, it is working fine! just have to get it in so it is fixed as it should.
To get the glue strips in is a very precise job that requires patience.
But the bottom-line is that it fits and works well!
Need to replace my cracked screen. Been looking on Ebay and I'm noticing the average price for screen+digitizer
+frame is $150...seems a bit high. Am I missing something or are there cheaper alternatives.

With screens... You get what you pay for. I would highly suggest shopping around in the average price range that they are selling for. The nexus 6 screens are still around $140 to $150 and the phone is older. So it's a fair price.
Go too cheap, you get a crap product most times.

At the end of the day how do you truly know that anyone else doesn't source the screen from the same Chinese knockoff factory as just getting it directly from that same factory. There's another thread on sourcing batteries and it's the same problem. Claims of "oem" quickly disappear when you have product in hand....
What I WOULD like to know why the heck the 6p screens are so expensive. Even as eBay fakes or Aliexpress... The price hovers around $150
Sent from my Nexus 6P using Tapatalk
Oh. We all know you won't get OEM. That's almost impossible. But... If it's less than let's say $125, I'll likely pass it up. (some circumstances may be involved to sway my decision) From my experience, cheap means cheap. I've always had better products going with products that sell for the average price or slightly above.
The reason they are expensive is because they are good products. Just because it's not OEM doesn't mean it's not good. Chinese doesn't mean bad product either. I wish people would drop that. They are one of the world's leaders in manufacturing technology. They can have decent stuff. And they do.
To touch on the battery thread. Most people shoot for those $10 batteries. Those are cheap and will perform like a cheap battery. But if you go for the ones in the mid 20s, you usually get much better quality and proper temperature sensing. Usually.
In the end, it's your choice. Are you willing to risk your device and possibly your safety by going the cheap route?and that's perfectly fine if you do. I've done it. Or are you willing to fork over a little more for a better chance at a more reliable products? I find that balance gives me the best results.

Just wanted to mention that Huawei is still doing screen replacements for $163.46 total. I bought a Nexus 6p with a smashed digitizer and bent aluminum frame and sent it in. They replaced the screen and digitizer and replaced the aluminum while they were at it! Turnaround from shipping to receiving was exactly one week.

You need to call or chat with Huawei tech support and tell them you need to buy a screen replacement. Once you give them the details, they send you an email and a link where you can purchase the service. Once that's all done, they send you a label and you're ready to go.
i bought a cheap 5X screen to replace mine on my old phone after water damage, it ended up ruining my cell signal, dont cheap out.

That sounds more like the water damage you had ruined your cell signal. A few connectors in your phone probably started corroding.
I bought this one yesterday:

I find it ridiculous that most other screens of similar size are under 100 bucks off ebay but ours average at $150. Regardless if it's off ebay or Aliexpress or Amazon

For what it's worth the Huawei tech I talked to said that Huawei doesn't sell the OEM screens to anyone else. It seems sending the phone into Huawei is the best way to ensure an OEM-quality screen is installed.

I bought mine from eBay , 95€ and I'm good. Just a warning. The new screen doesn't come with the vibration motor nor the volume and power buttons. Be careful when removing those , my volume down cable broke , so I had to replace it , but I already had everything glued in. Took it to a repair store and they fixed it for 30€ , so yeh , be careful. Buttons cost 3$ or so , but the backglass often shatters when removed , so 10 more dollars for the back glass , plus the shipping , turns out to be pretty expensive. Careful. Also top earpiece is tricky to remove , is sealed with glue and everything pops out but it has a copper cable in it, if that rip off , you messed up. Careful with usb board , it has some contacts underneath , you got to do it perfectly , otherwise , no charging.
Best of luck boy ! Tell me the results at the end !
