Hi Guys, I know it's a frustrating situation when your phone reject your lockscreen password. There are some solutions and I had made a flashable zip which will make the task easier for you instead of deleting the files yourself. This has been tested on Xiaomi.eu and Lineage OS ROMs.
This .zip file delete these files from "/data/system":
-gatekeeper.password.key
-gatekeeper.pattern.key
-locksettings.db
-locksettings.db-shm
-locksettings.db-wal
The link to the flashable .ZIP is on the attachement below.
Have a good day and Thank me if I helped!

If the phone is not encrypted, you should be able to use a deep flash cable to unlock the bootloader, then install TWRP and delete the password files. Just remember, then you have a phone that is more insecure and it should remain encrypted from that point onwards, or relock the bootloader if it is possible.

There's a couple of ways to make them, or you can buy one from ebay/amazon/etc.
This is the item I am talking about.
I have heard that it unlocks EDL mode, bootloader or both. It seems to depend on the model of the phone.
I am using LineageOS 14.1 and it works for me. Thanks!
Currently I have enabled fingerprint unlock, which forced me to also use PIN or pattern as a screen lock. I want to be able to unlock my device using my fingerprint without having any PIN or pattern set.
If I remove my PIN/pattern by removing these files will I still be able to unlock using my fingerprint?

helpful info. You are a real problem solver.
I had to do this whole **** every time I want to restore an encrypted nandroid backup from my FIRST moto z to my SECOND moto z manually (after entering the correct encryption password in TWRP, otherwise you cannot access the folders and files, so it is luckily nothing to get around encryption . This looks like a nice solution!
Could you enhance your install script for saved fingerprints as well, please:
/data/fpc/
/data/system/users/0/fpdata/ (0 stands for the user, 0 is standard)
/data/system/users/0/settings_fingerprint.xml (0 stands for the user, 0 is standard)
Thank you very much!
Rainer
Thank you very much, you saved me from clean flash?
can data be backed up on a locked phone?
Will this erase all data on the phone? Is there a way to either first take a backup and then do wipe data on a redminote 4 which is locked?

Discoverd today that my videocamera map in Quickpic was lost, must be deleted in some way
My OPO is not rooted.
So when Im connecting my OPO to my PC it finds the telephone but not as e:,f:... It find the device name, so Recuva or ohter recoveryprograms wont recognize it.
So I downloaded this https://www.recovery-android.com/oneplus-phone-photo-recovery.html
The problem is when Im going to use this program is that the phone restart itself all the time.
I have read that it is much easier to recover files while OPO is root, but I find to problems:
1. If I root the phone all data will be erased.
2. If I root some programs might overwrite lost data...
Anyone know any other solution to this problem?

Dont know how to svolve this, because if I unlock the boatloader I must wipe everything. Is it still possible to recovery deleted pictures and videos after an wipe is done with recuva? Isnt a wipe actually the same thing when you format?
I also find this, someone know if this is a safe way to root?

In one plus one, no bootloader unlock zip like tool needed as per above forum thread , because fastboot oem unlock command only unlock OPO. Above thread for bricked phones.
You can store photos, videos and other files in pc, then unlock then transfer all data again to your mobile, for apps use es file explorer and backup your apps as apk filesand transfer them to pc, then restore
Only 3 steps
1.unlock bootloader
2.flash or boot twrp recovery
Flash permanant recovery change
Boot one time recovery change, after boot into system recovery changed again to stock
3. Root with supersu or not.
An OPO-owner's pc recognize his OPO as a cd-unit and he can access it to copy and delete files on it
So my question is, are here other owners that have the same thing on their pc when they connect their opo and is it possibile somewhere in the settings to make my pc to recognize it like that?

Ok, I have a problem with the adb, I tried many times but it still freezing and my cellphone screen too, I searched in the internet many ways to mount the system partition as read and write but all failed. Im thinking that the problem is the nougat version, I have the J1 and Im downloading the D1. Pst, the drivers and the cables are ok, I used another adb codes and they worked.
Seems like it only works on Qd1, so if have updated QI1 or QJ1, got to flash back to Qd1 to get it to work
...
I flashed DQD1 via Odin and after that, I flashed the .tar, but it still freezing my screen, I tried first without flashing the .tar because after flashing the firmware, the custom logo appeared. But again, the adb process failed, itsn freezed like the other but was unable to copy the su.img
---------- Post added at 07:06 PM ---------- Previous post was at 06:13 PM ----------
I did the same process that you made, so, I don't know why this happen, can you please assist this?? The phone doesn't matter, I just want to prove if this really work. I'll be amazed if this really do.
I´m facing the same problem on my device as @NerdTronik , just frezes when try to remount system as rewritable.. No succes as yet and I'm on Qd1 with the same kernel version.. Dont know How you Got to succesfully Remounted the system..
Another one stuck scratching my head with the phone locking when the batch script gets to the first adb shell mount command. The flash to DQD1 (from here, all 4 files) went fine. Flashed the new boot image without issue, reboot reflects custom image. Enabled debugging, connected with ADB, but that mount would be the final thing that would occur. Hoping this is just something we need clarified in the instructions.
Ok for all of your problem tonight i will make a youtube video learn how to root with the proof of it ☺?
Thanks for the root! Tell me, after I get the root of what custom firmware I can put? I understand you only need the development of verizon?
I did a Google for the the boot image file name and came across this link:
http://www.techzai.com/eng-root-file-samsung-android-7-nougat/
NOTE: I accessed this via Google's cache, and with NoScript plugin in Firefox. The firewall I was accessing through blocked the site for a reason... unsure if that could be that it isn't safe, work just didn't want me going there during business, etc. Go at your own risk.
But one thing that was noted in those instructions was to not only enable USB Debugging, but to also enable OEM Unlock in the developer options.
The thread for the S7 (which I think would apply but we just need to use the later released S6 boot image) mentions disabling secure startup. https://forum.xda-developers.com/ve...-to-notes-root-install-xposed-unroot-t3411039
Might have time to play around with this more during the coming weekend, but maybe @faw_wal or another member will get additional info before then.

For many users, unlocking the bootloader is unacceptable, because the tablet will stop updating via OTA. However, there are ways to save important partitions without unlocking them, which can be useful in case of damage during flashing or update.
1. The first method is described here. It works, I tested it. The Read button reads the partition to a file, the Load button writes from the image file to the partition.
Disadvantages: you can't copy the whole FS of the tablet at once, you have to copy the partitions one by one.
2. The second way goes here. It works on Linux, Windows, and MacOS. I checked it on the Live CD Mint 20.2. The tablet was recognized, the partition table was read and I successfully copied one boot partition.
Disadvantages: Difficult for Windows users.
Cons: You can copy selected partitions in any combination or the whole tablet at once.
---
It is very likely that these 2 methods will work for other models of tablets as well...

Yes, you are right. This command not works, it made backup of all partitions. I made issue for author.

I have a question, what about userdata when it is encrypted?
How to get/set the key from the TEE?
Or are the chinese ROMs are unencrypted?
Best regards

My userdata permanently unencrypted with no-verity-opt-encrypt. TWRP says "Decrypted with default password"

Hi mate,
I've used the method #1 that you linked, to take a full backup of my pad pro (thanks for sharing this, helped a lot since I really wanted to have a backup to restore to out-of-box if needed in the future).
I ended up with 91 partitions saved, but it seems a lot of these partitions would never really get touched or changed, no matter what you do to your tablet (in terms of rooting, custom roms etc), so I wanted to ask you if you could give a break down of what you think are the essential ones that would need to be restored to revert back to "out of the box". For example. I suspect a lot of the partitions house data such as serials, mac addresses, component firmware etc, etc, and such-like which would not need to be written back to the device during a restore.
I'm attaching a pdf I made showing all the partitions available through use of QFIL, if you could reference it in any advice/help with your answer I would be grateful. Thanks
The firmware writes to different sections, in particular to frp and frpinfo and others. If you want to get the tablet back to the same state as you backed it up, you must have a copy of all partitions.
For a regular backup you don't need a copy of all partitions, just the ones you need.
Besides, I recommend to have backups of those partitions that are not in the firmware in case the internal memory fails or human errors (like ticking "Erase all before download" in QFil settings)

You need to download rom (firmware) for your device, unzip it in separate folder and point to folder from QPST.
@f1tm0t thank you for your reply.
The reseller send it (TB-J716F) to me with custom global rom and unlock bootloader, so i follow the guide to flash stock Chinese rom and lock bootloader, it worked but widevine L3. Then i put the update.zip to push it through version 14.0.127 with locked bootloader but still widevine L3.
I'm going to backup 5 important partitions: fpinfo, persist, uefivarstore, secdata, frp, then redo all processes again.
BTW do you have any idea what is this: https://github.com/zenlty/Qualcomm-Firehose
in the extracted ROM (ZUI 12) there is 2 firehose which one should i use?

Edit: oh well, i flash the ROM ZUI 12 again, stick on option Reset State machine and Delete before download, my device able to boot up again to ZUI with unlocked bootloader.
I hope anyone had the same issue can fix it.
All i can find are tutorials for the Neo and Pro versions of this device. Can this version be rooted? How?

Well, don't get me wrong, but if that's all unknown to you ... you'd better don't root your device ;-).
The risk to brick your device or open unforseen security wholes is quite too large, you'd better read some tutorials about flashing roms and customizations before trying to get into the world of Magisk.
Cheers

I've installed Delta Magisk through adb on Lineage OS 20. It was quite a fast and interesting process!
Thank you.

Instead of being helpful you give some strange lessons it seems to me that you are useless here. If someone asks you politely for help, explain it to them. Every phone unlocks differently.

Well, i tried to figure out, that not knowing the basics of running the phones recovery and using sideload is a bad starting point to open root access on the device.

Well, that's not the core of my answer and i do not disagree ... just wanted to prevent a newbee from bricking his device and not beeing able to recover ;-) or walking around with a spy-phone recording and sharing his whole live-data with someone who should not know anything of it at all.
@Kasjopea73 : if you volonteer to answer request like "i tryied to root and bricked my device" in personal chat, then it's ok ... i've seen too many chats on other devices beeing flooded by those kind of requests, rendering these chats useless for developers who tried to exchange information on fixing problems.
Ciao

The best thing to do is not to write anything anymore, you are no help here and it is better to disappear. This is a forum for development, not for throwing obstacles under someone's feet. Rooting this phone is trivial, just extract the boot.img from the rom you are using, not from any other, and in magisk make a patch, instructions you will find below the post. If you don't know what is going on don't write nonsense to anyone.
Instructions Steps: Unlock Bootloader and RootPlatform Tools:
For Windows:
Download File: Download
For macOS
Download File: Download
For Linux
Download File: Download
At first, you need to connect your device to PC via USB cable.
Next, head over to the platform-tools folder, then you have to type in CMD in the address bar and click enter. Command Prompt window will popup.
Now type the below command to boot your device into fast boot mode:
adb reboot bootloader
Next, you will need to get your device-specific unlock token. For that, execute the below command:
fastboot oem get_unlock_data
You will now get an alphanumeric character, that you have to copy all of the codes without the bootloader prefix. To follow this step, you may copy all the commands, paste it in a Notepad, and then delete the bootloader prefix. Further, make sure that there isn’t any space between any line of codes.
Now go to Motorola Unlock page and sign-in with your account. After this, copy that code and paste that into provided space. Then tap on the “Can my device be unlocked button”
Then, you will receive a Unique Key on your email. In normal scenerio, the code usually takes a few minutes to reach your email. But if not wait for few more minutes and you will get the code.
Go back the command prompt window and execute the below command. In the following command replace the UNIQUE_KEY with the key that you have received from Motorola.
fastboot oem unlock UNIQUE_KEY
Your bootloader is unlocked, after the whole process is done which will take few minutes. Now if your device doesn’t reboot to the system then you can use the below command to do it manually.
fastboot reboot
CONGRATULATIONS! YOU HAVE UNLOCKED THE BOOTLOADER OF YOUR DEVICE. NOW LET’S PROCEED TO ROOT THE DEVICE
2. ROOT MOTOROLA EDGE 30, PLUS ecc......Thera are two ways root motorola edge plus: one is flashing SuperSu Zip with TWRP Recover and another one patching the boot.img file. Currerntly, there is no TWRP Recovery for motorola edge plus, so we will be choosing the latter (patching) option.
Instructions Steps:
First download the stock firmware and extract the firmware file. Now search the stock boot file which would be named as boot.img. Copy this file to your Motorola edge plus.
Install Magisk Manager which you have downloaded earlier.
After installation, open magisk manager and tap on Install > Install > Select and Patch file (Here you have to select the boot.img file)
{

"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",

}
Magisk will start the patching process which will take just a few seconds.
After the patching process is done, you should see the magisk_patched.img in your internal storage’s Downloads folder.
Now you have to transfer magisk_patched.img to your platform-tools folder. Open CMD in this folder by searching “CMD” in the address bar and hit Enter.
Connect Motorola edge plus with PC via USB Cable and type the following command:
adb reboot bootloader
Now you have to flash magisk_patched.img and for that type the following command:
fastboot flash boot magisk_patched.img
The process will take only a few seconds. Once its complete, you may reboot your device via the following command:
fastboot reboot
Now you can open magisk manger and very the root as well.
CONGRATULATIONS! YOU HAVE SUCCESSFULLY ROOTED YOUR MOTOROLA EDGE PLUS.
There is another solution for making Root on Telegram groups. Unlock the bootloader and install TWRP then Magisk.
I did this as described, it works fine. I tried a couple of days with root and stock ROM but revert back to the original because of google wallet that didn't work suddenly.
