Clock icon strange behaviour after rooting - Samsung Galaxy S8+ Questions & Answers

My clock app icon is behaving strangely after I rooted my SM-G9555FD with @Chainfire CF autoroot, and intalled the official xposed of Nougat by @rovo89. My clock app icon just started changing its appearance randomly without any recognisable reason.
I am on Samsung stock rom, android 7.0, Samsung Experience version 8.1. I am on stock theme as well, no third party theme or launcher.
I am attaching a few screenshots of clock app icon having different appearance.

Samsung's Clock and Calendar apps both have animated icons that show the current time and date, respectively, so I expect there's an incompatibility somewhere.
Samsung's stock theme also has the option to convert any non-Samsung-shaped icons (Samsung's are the "squircle"-shaped ones) into ones that conform to Samsung's native icon shapes by reducing their size and rendering them in a white "squircle"-shaped box.
That option is the default, and I can tell from your screenshots that it is enabled on your phone, since the non-Samsung apps all have had their icons "samsungized".
I don't know if this will work, but you might try disabling the automatic icon conversion option, to see if somehow the combination of that option and the Clock/Calendar animations are broken by your modifications to your phone.
To turn off icon conversion, search for "Icon Frames" in settings (it's under the Display grouping on my phone).
Good luck!

If nothing else works, just switch to a theme that uses non-animated icons for the Clock (and likely the Calendar, too) app(s).

Can anybody point to the underlying cause for this anomalous behaviour of clock icon, what could have triggered this?
As suggested by @TJCacher after turning off the "icon-conversion" the clock icon is behaving normally. But I loved the look of "samsungized" icons. I would love to have them back after understanding the underlying cause for the anomalous behaviour of the clock icon and getting it fixed!
Thanks a lot to @TJCacher for his reply!

Did you ever resolve the problem?

Apparently not. And there are already many threads covering this topic, so performing a search is advised.
With Xposed and the latest version of Flat Style Indicators it is now possible to remove the carrier text from statusbar.

Just gave it a spin, nice app! Though I don't mind the way the status bar looks with the EMUI skin.
Interesting, it seems Huawei's skinned status bar can be disabled after all. When I uninstalled the module and saw that the status bar didn't revert to default automatically, I restarted System UI and got the stock Android status bar design. So I wonder where in the system this part of the EMUI skin can be turned off. The same should also be possible with the navigation bar and other things.
Hm, any developers around here that would like to give a shot at making EMUI 3.0 look and feel more like stock Android, both in terms of looks and functionality?

Which ROM do you use? Did you unchecked the "Show Carrier" option in "Carrier" or did you try to remove it by editing a custom carrier text?

Did you activate the module in Xposed (check the box in "Modules") and reboot after you installed it? The module doesn't do anything per se to the Huawei notification bar, but instead completely re-skins it.

Samsung's New Notification/Lockscreen App

Hey all.. I don't think I've seen a post about this so I thought I'd be the first to give you all a heads-up on Samsung's new lock app called Good Lock. It's a fairly new app and I'm sure they'll make improvements. It pretty much changes your lockscreen, notifications tray, and recent tabs. Let me know what you think of the app.
**Apparently some rooted users are having various problems (constant reboot and randomly uninstalls itself), so keep that in mind...
You can download this in the Galaxy App store

I downloaded this today, and so far I like it! I wasn't sure at first, but the more that I use it, the more I enjoy it.
I like the new notifications menu. Looks a lot like stock Android. Wish u could use a custom lockscreen wallpaper, but besides that, it's pretty cool! I'm surprised that Samsung created something like this.
To answer your question, I'm pretty sure that those icons are from a previous theme. I haven't found any icon customization with this app
I tried the app, but it uninstalled itself after a bit playing around with it. It looked better than the stock lock screen and notification area (although I don't like the colours) and I'd like to keep the app. Is there a way to prevent that the app is automatically uninstalled?
In Nova Launcher pulling notification bar down is not flawless if you use gesture...
Just a warning that it doesn't work with rooted devices. I made the mistake of installing it on my rooted S7 and it caused constant reboots.
I've also uninstalled in for ithe time being because it didn't work with my Samsung led case. it kept asking for location. I've never had the uninstall problem or reboot problem. you can change the lockscreen by going to Samsung settings. I really hope they polish the app a bit more.

So far, I'm liking Good Lock. just a couple weird things. Looks like you no longer can customize the quicksettings tiles, and the recent apps switcher is much better, but if you use the button to bring it up and dismiss it (also using the button) then it goes to the Home App instead of the app I was in.

Are you rooted? If not, that explains why the reboot issue would never have happen for you.
Downloading now.
I tried it and uninstalled within minutes. The recent apps is horrible - separate chrome tabs are now nameless icons making it useless to find the tab you wanted, and I like having a preview of the open apps. Also, as mentioned, the MM notification draw pulldown bug in Nova is present, which drives me insane. And no lockscreen wallpaper choices, no thanks. The only reason I'd want to use it is the more stock android look, and that you can finally double tap a notification on the lockscreen to open it, which should be a thing on the current lockscreen anyway.

Hi there Sir Eagle. Could you upload the apk to dropbox or any? Seems like I can't download it through the GStore. Must be a country thingy.

Samsung's new update isn't complete

1st is background color for navigation bar, they forgot to put the colors, all of them are white.
2nd is if you don't want full screen on the app like nova launcher. It has an ugly text "tap here to full screen" although this problem doesn't exist. The only solution is to go full screen with nova launcher. I don't mind losing the navigation button nova, but I'd like to see the status bar.
BTW, TouchWiz doesn't have this problem.
Anyone find a way to fix this?

This is now your navigation bar if you don't full screen. Very ugly.

The immersive mode do not smart enough but at least it is there. Finally now all games in full screen.
For the dot not appear in stock home launcher, so I am very ok with it. Others launcher I don't think Samsung going to do it.
Navigation color options reduce do is stupid but at least now 99% apps follow color set. Now I already remove the navigation colour apps. I prefer white and now at least it is proper white.
well, the navbar immersive mode in the last update is smarter than native hiding with ADB command line before, because this immersive mode does not allow overlaps for navigation keys when swiping up in any app.
ADB command line immersive mode made these overlaps though.

It's called Veggie Burger font. There is no flipfont for it or anything.
I made a flashable zip for it. You must flash in recovery.
This zip replaces the default font with Veggie Burger as its replacement
I'm happy to share it with you, use at your own risk.

New Update gives FC and message UI has stopped on some apps for example Go Launcher at the startup and in Trials Frontier, Badland, Prince of Persia, Rainbow Web and the nav bar disappears. It seems this happens in every 3d accelerated app. No root at this time, only immersive mode enabled via ADB. I've erased the cache partition, the apps cache, the apps data, it does the same.

[PROJECT] Native Blur PORT for T580/T585

CALLING FOR SUPPORT ON NATIVE BLUR PROJECT
Hello community,
I really hate the fact that Samsung decided to NOT implement NATIVE BLUR into ALL OF THEIR software, for all phones and tablets. Only a few phones have native blur, and I think it would be possible to bring it to all tablets and phones, first for the above mentioned tablet, because I have it and could test it. I HAVE READ a few tutorials on this forum, but they are old and not up to the firmware. Are there any guys who would like to work on this project? Thanks!

I dont think that that would work, since the tablet doesnt have the native blur icorporated into the System UI file ...

Can I do the steps without root? Can i clone the app with an AppCloner App?

The key to Native Blur is in the TouchWiz launcher that you are using. My Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 doesn't have Native Blur because of its launcher's version, but after I had manually updated it to v9.0.01.51 (an Oreo beta TouchWiz version), I now have Native Blur, plus I can now swipe up and down to access my Apps drawer than to only press the Apps button to access the drawer.

I really think that it doesnt have anything to do with the Launcher .. I think it is the system ui ... the same way with GoodLock i think or something like that, you can download a samsung app to change the status bar (notification bar) and when you enter the app you can enable blur BUT it doesnt work, the blur in the app doesnt work to blur the background of the notification bar
Im on Oreo, that works only on 9+ (Pie)
I just did ... no blur
I just got HUGE icons on the home screen
The blur isnt in the launcher it is in this: https://forum.xda-developers.com/ga...ide-how-to-add-native-blur-stock-rom-t3717950

They may have done away with them but I doubt it. Search in settings for "status bar" it's likely due to a 3rd party app interfering.
Same in safe mode?
Good Lock Quickstar isn't installed and stock launcher? The status icons should be visible on home page...
Malware is another possibility.
I use a combination of different settings in Android 9 and 10 to disable all of the icons on the status bar.

I agree that one UI is a thousand times better than it used to be; I have been using samsung phones since the S1, and I remember how horrible it was for a very very long time.
In spite of that, I prefer the customization's you can do with Nova Prime, and, aside from a few years recently being an Iphone fool, I have gotten used to Nova over several of my recent phones. Plus I have a few saved Nova customizations, and you dont get the option to have other configurations on One UI the way you do with Nova..

The N10+ is totally different. Nova doesn't manage the app tray as well.
Pick theme (the basic high contrast ones work best)>pick icon pack>pick wallpaper then use the Goodlock family of apps and One handed Operation plus to modify it further.
