Substratum working with Andromeda w/o root - Google Pixel 2 Themes, Apps, and Mods

What the title says- just have to buy $2.00 Andromeda add-on and download and run the desktop client.
Installed Swift Dark and it works great. Said there was 1 error during applying, but I can't tell; everything looks good to me. Great to have substratum working.
With substratum and LMT working, along with button mapper for vol button next/prev track long press ... I'm actually doing okay without root or custom roms.

Oh yeah Def glad to have the Andromeda add on for Substratum, all my themes work great and its so easy to use.

Are you switching to USB file transfer instead of charging in the notification when you plug it in? Do you have developer settings enabled and USB debugging checked?

Yes, I changed to file transfer when i connected it and i also turned on developer mode and USB debugging as the tutorial said. I read a few forum posts on here about it boot looping the Pixel 2 XL but i wanted to try it anyways and still couldn't get it to work. Do i have to restart it at some point? I also tried to use the Java steps but i couldn't get that to work either.

Once you have both substratum and andromeda installed on your phone, have the desktop client downloaded, and run the "start_andromeda" batch file while the phone's plugged in, it should automatically start substratum on your phone, and then apply like normal.
Those are the steps; if that's not working for you then I'd recommend reading through the original thread: https://forum.xda-developers.com/ap...top-clients-release-notes-t3668682?styleid=18

At least for OS X, you need to connect phone to computer, open substratum app on phone, mount dmg on desktop, open andromeda on desktop, and select the mounted dmg.

Too bad I don't have a working computer xD

Is it normal that it slows down the app launching and themed apps in general?

[BUG LIST] JellyBean 4.1.1 , 3.16.401.8 WWE Firmware

I just found few bugs:
-Touchscreen hangs on first boot, have to power off and on the screen to make it working
-Also is impossible to disable ADB, strange behaviour with Developer Setting menu too (adb can be disabled only with Developer Setting ON, if i select OFF, adb auto-re-enable it self when USB is connected again)
-mouse cursor with USB Host is really SLOW and LAGGY
-on USB Host disconnect, "Select method od writing" doesn't disappear, if i select HTC Sense Input it's still there, cannot remove from the notification bar
-MTP it's FUUUUU**** SLOW!!! Bugged, cannot copy flac file!!! When first file is copied, than it stop copying!!! This ruined my day, tomorrow i have no music on my phone!!! FU** HTC!!!
New feature! USB Host now is self powered! USB mass storage is working without external power!!! :good:
Big changes:
-USB connection is changed
Pro: no data corruption, now ADB/Fastboot is working ok with Win8 Computer with Intel USB 3.0 too
Con: we are force to use htc sync manager, and MTP to copy files, TOO BAD
I haven't any problem to transfer flax file

Regarding the file transfer thing, a workaround to access and transfer files as "Mass Storage", try using AirDroid: https://play.google.com/store/apps/...t=W251bGwsMSwxLDEsImNvbS5zYW5kLmFpcmRyb2lkIl0.
You can transfer and speed install apps and stuff, for more info: http://andystudenthandbook.blogspot.com/2012/11/when-cables-desert-you-airdroid-app.html
EDIT: Another workaround: Instal the HTC Sync Drivers, then launch the internal storage from the "Portable Device" in My Computer. You should be able to copy files this way.
Do you also have a two drives after connecting HOS to PC (In My Computer)? One with internal storage and second one visible as blank CD/DVD? This second one can be also accessible after switching on ADB? I can instal HTC Sync from that.
No bug till now

Qwertz keyboard mode in landscape mode shows Z instead of Y.
Ugly calculator widgets.
Using new power save mode, when phone is sleeping, and you connect wall charger, the phone will not charge until you wake up the screen...
If you have another keyboard like swiftkey, every time you reboot your phone you have to activate it from the menu. Can people please confirm?

And why wouldn't you have the driver already installed I hate this new way of doing it its really crap, I have to reboot the phone to get to see an up to date file list so just don't bother with it and use TWRP.
I am curious would anyone who is in the TMo's beta testing program can report these issues to them so that HTC can fix it.
When you receive a text message there isn't a box on the lock screen with 1 or 2 lines of the message content and the senders name. There is just a little number on the messages icon on the lock screen. Don't think it's a bug but it's definitely a change. the first image is what the ics lock screen was like and the second is what happens now. It's quite annoying because you can't see who the message is from without unlocking your phone! WTF

Another bug, with swiftkey Keyboard on as default the keypad for unlocking the phone with PIN code is not as before much smaller and annoying.

Can't Use My Phone with CM11 For Developing

Hi to all, I wanto to use my CM11 nesus 5 for developing but I've run in a problem. I've activated developer mode on the phone but when I try to start my application from Eclipse I get the attached screen, and the button at the end of the window is disabled, so I can launch my app. other devices with stock android works. CM version is: 11-20140702-NIGHTLY-hammerhead
anyone have a solution?
Run another ROM? Dat simple, it isn't like all people use CM or even custom roms. IMO, you should be testing dev progress under stock Android.
Anyways... Can you connect to your device through ADB? Do you have the very latest version of the sdk?
I used Eclipse this weekend with the 08-18 nightly and my device was correctly recognized.
Try this:
• Reboot your phone
• Disable then enable usb debugging
• Close Eclipse, kill then relaunch adb server
• Do not use a 3.0 usb port
• Did u validate the warning pop up? ("Allow USB debugging?")

in case of a production app, of course but it's for educational purpose and the nexus 5 stock rom is pretty unusable in everyday life
sure, last version. I did not completly understand what do you mean with "connect to your device through ADB"

if you are developing apps for android, then cm would be a terrible rom to use. stock android and aosp android use the same base, the same thats in the aosp source. cm doesnt use it, cm bases on CAF. if you get apps working on cm, it doesnt mean that they will work on android. and of the user base, cm is a very small percentage. if i wanted to get an app out to as many people as possible, id use stock or aosp android.
and why do you say stock is unusable? its extremely usable, no issues with it, it runs great. maybe you were doing something wrong?

A small example: if you want to disable wifi on the stock, you have to: pull down the notification window, tap on the upper right corner to show the shortcuts, tap on wifi icon, it opens the wifi section of the settings, and then you can disable it. With cm I pull down and tap the wifi icon. I can also customize all the shortcut. however I think we are going off topic

Android Wear Pip-boy

For those who don't know what I am talking about.

This is an android app that allows you to use your phone as pip-boy. It actually syncs with your game, so all information is real-time and, yes, it works on our android wear devices!
Do you have to side load it to the watch? I have it on my phone, but there is no option to open it on my zenwatch 2.

Yup, you need to extract apk and sideload it. Also, notice how it cuts off 40% of the app and clicking on the buttons is really hard as they are so small. So, its only good for showing off to your fallout 4 fan friends. Although, using the map for fast travel on the watch is not that bad.
[Added]
However, if you are really determined to have it showing fully, you can try playing with DPI values.
I figured it out. It keeps randomly closing for me though, and the left and right half of the screen are cut off. I'm new to sideloading apps to my wear device, so now I need to figure out how to remove it from my watch

I tried some of the methods posted on the net, but none seem to work. What you can try is to load TWRP recovery into your watch and just delete folder that contains works like falloutcompanionapp inside /data/app/. Or if you already rooted your watch, you can just access that folder without recovery.

I did some research, and it turns out I don't have to be rooted. Don't even need that special CAT5/USB cable that the Moto 360 requires. Just Sven's toolkit.
That's right, you don't need a root to sideload apps. You just need to activate the adb mode in developer settings. Its best to use adb over USB since Bluetooth is so painfully slow.

Custom lockscreen not starting when I restart phone

Hey. i have a T-Mobile Revvl 4+
I tried using multiple lockscreens because I don't like the stock one. I really like Canyon. My problem is that it doesn't start up when i turn phone on android. So if someone got my phone, all they would have to do to get in it is power it off and then on.
Any suggestions?

Themes / Apps / Mods Zui14PcModeSwitch Pre-release

Update : I've finally managed to do it without need of installing "Setedit".
As I have repeatedly read of users being disappointed with the lack of PC Mode in ZUI 14, so I decided to look into this.
My application simply does this with no other manipulations than a simple click on the application.
The first time you will run it, this will ask you permission to modify settings but your device will go to the desktop mode before you have time to do it.
When you will be in desktop mode if you run again on the app. You will be asked again and have to allow permission to modify settings. For a strange reason that’s only really required, for going back to the classic mode.
Zui14PcModeSwitch Pre-release
are you saying that if we use your application we dont need to use the staredit hack ? we simply run your app and it switches to PC mode ?
does your app switch to pc mode even when the tablet is not connected to external monitor or TV ?

Yes like, with setedit you will be able to switch to pc mode even when the tablet is not connected to external monitor or TV.
no, your apk file app-debug.apk.... if we install this apk file we can switch pc mode on and off ? or do we still need to do all the other stuff as well ?

If setedit is installed and if you have already run it once to change zui_pc_mode. Install my app, allow it to change system and you can turn PC mode on and off just by launching it.
I can confirm this works great. Typing this now from within Desktop mode!
Incase the app not working like mine I keep pressing but not working
You need to long press the then select app info then permissions then select modify system settings then click accept. The app will now work
Also thanks on the creator of the app because I don't need to use set edit to just go on PC mode
I wanted you make an update that I can add a shortcut on the control center
Here a GitHub and the Pre-release
It worked very well, you can download it that works. Thanks to the app developer
I just uploaded a new version.
Contrary to what I had first thought. The only really useful element in the source code of setedit, is as far as we are concerned: "targetSdkVersion 22" present in: build.gradle.
The shared key, present in the Sources of Setedit, pushed me to do the same. For this new version made available to you, I did not make this mistake, since nothing prevents you from compiling yours with your own key.
Hi, thank you for the PC mode APK. but somehow when I tried to go into the menu, all the icons are somehow overlays and it is not showing the full icons and it is making it hard for me to identify or click.
And problem is that my game used to be in portrait mode in PC mode but now it is not and the game somehow just grey screen upon starting the game.
Any idea why is it so? Thanks.

Hi,
I haven't noticed any of these issues on my device: TB-J716F ZUI 14.0.127.
Which one is yours ?
Have you tried changing the font or icon size?
Have you tried rebooting to see if the problem persists?

Thanks for this app, it works well and has made me see for myself how pointless this mode is now.
Fwiw I also have the half icons on apps screen in productivity mode and it persisted after restart/font size tweaks..
Thanks, app works fine on Pad Pro 2022 SD870.
I mostly use it in portrait mode for writing and manga reading so PC mode will be a rare but useful mode when I need it.

Are people able to get the video output working on the China rom? Mine hasn't worked since the beginning, thought this mode might get it working but alas no.
I have manage to resize manaully the window to portrait to able to run the game without issue. But is there any way that the system is bale to resize it automatically?
But I am still not able to resolve that overlapping icon in the menu. Tried to find way to resize the menu but somehow it doesn't let me resize.
Is there a function or setting that I can set to automatically resize all open window to let say half of the screen in portrait mode?
Thanks
