Phone bricked after updating - Honor 8 Questions & Answers

Yeah. That's it. I just clicked on Update (from Settings menu), it rebooted. Completed the whole process, then booted into Huawei eRecovery. Which has three options:
Download latest version and recovery
Reboot
Shutdown
Chose the first, it connected to WiFi and searched for 'package' from server but didn't find any. Then just showed me the other two options. Now I'm stuck here. I choose the first option, it searches, fails and tells me to reboot.........................
Note : Never unlocked bootloader, rooted, custom recovery or anything.

That didn't happen to me. Are you sure about your phone's model? Flashing wrong ROM doesn't cause phone to not turn on. Check if it charges

hello. i have unlocked lg d800 undroid 4.4.2 not rooted and whont update knock code and when i trie to update it cpmes messige "youer phone not registered yet" whot can i do? please help. thanks ))
most probably you'll have to root your phone.
Kernel with the knock code update is available here (last one) https://www.lg.com/global/support/opensource/opensourceList?types=NAME&search=d800
So according to my knowledge you can get the knock code update simply by flashing the D800-20u kernel on top of the KITKAT(original) rom.
i can't get it without root?? i never root this phone
Well it seems that you need to root to flash which is really easy. Rooting is not rocket science

No data will be lost. So that suggests you it is a simple process and you always can unroot the device.
****For your information Even if you do a factory reset only the settings will be gone. Non of you photos or files will be lost.

Well i think i found to flash the update without rooting. Download the kernel (last one in https://www.lg.com/global/support/opensource/opensourceList?types=NAME&search=d800 and extract it. If it contains a kdz file then tell me. Im at work btw)

Hi, i have a galaxy j1 mini sm-j105B . I tried to flash this custom recovery i found on the internet, intended for the sm-j105H , and it worked fine to use it to flash SUperSU on it. But the TWRP i believe its not working 100%. The partition layout is different from H to B model. I dont know how it will work on your F model, but as i said, it worked on mine to use it to push SUperSU inside, root works fine. Want to try ? i can provide the links, but no guarantee it will work for your F as it worked for my B. Cheers

I will try to port this TWRP for the J105F . Please let me know what firmware version you have on your phone, dial to *#1234# and let me know whats your AP , CP , CSC and model. Also which country .
Telstra just gave me a J1Mini free for my Note7 Exploding model. They dont want it back when I get my non exploding N7 replacement.
I have a SM-J105Y is this Recovery ok for that phone.

It's not a bad thing since I have the original stock recovery. I just flash it again and try another custom recovery with the hope that one will eventually work

Just to clarify, the twrp i will provide does show that message before it boots. But that does not make my device bootloop like i read somewhere, nor it stops it from installing supersu correctly. It seems to work just fine. Anyway, if you dont want to see that message simply flash the stock recovery.img (easy downloadable) via Odin compressed as .tar . It replaces the recovery without changing the root status. While in download mode, your phone status will still be "custom", but no more seandroid messages will be displayed and the root works just fine.
I have seen and fixed that "recovery not seandroid enforcing" and it doesn't make me panic anymore. As for the custom part, my phone has been like that since I used a custom bootloader to achieve root via ChimeraTool then SuperSU failed to update binaries and I am stuck using 360root:crying:

Developer options -> Enable OEM Unlock + USB Debug.
Flash with Odin.
In case it does not work, let me know.
Mine have the "recovery not seandroid..." but it works just fine. Also in case it does boot ok into twrp, press the touch button right above the home button and check if there is any stuff written there in RED. report to me please in case it does. Press the same mid touch button to go back to the main menu.

1 out of 10 people had an issue where Odin would "PASS" the twrp flash, but the stock recovery would remain. We managed to fix this but then you would need extra files.

I have this same phone......rooted. Can use your help. I want flash any working verizon rom. But more importantly I want to know how to recover from a brick..............
Noticed you were able to recovery from a brick......with Odin? Curious how. I tried to flash a stock Verizon rom, while rooted with ODIN, and pit file.......but it fails.
I am nervous of trying to flash TWRP and custom rom, if I don't know of a full proof recovery method.
Any help is much appreciated.
Thanks

Last question, does that stock contain the modem (modem.bin)? My phone is unbricked but the EFS is messed up because I flashed a marshmallow update via TWRP and did not backup my EFS. I eventally had to restore my original 5.0.2 stock rom.

I would take Edd's suggestion and use FunkyHuawei.
Sent from my MHA-L29 using XDA Labs

Yeah, but i cant set an DNS Server on my wifi, so i think that it dont work.
Or is it possible to change the DNS just on my PC?

Check the post #2 on FunkyHuawei's thread. I have used the new method were you change your PCs DNS settings (or edit the hosts file). Granted my phone wasn't 'bricked' but should work for you.

Yea, TWRP works. But I've been just sideloading ota's instead of unlocking and rooting for the last few years. It has also been super fast and easy with the essential.
Drivers:
https://www.essential.com/developer/current-builds
Google and install "Minimal ADB and Fastboot."
Download and put the ota zip file in the fastboot folder (I always rename it to the build number, too)
Rest:

I'm on sprint and rooted to "F".
someone please confirm: to go to "B", first I need to uninstall majisk, the flash the stock recovery, then sideload the OTA, then flash the new TWRP then reinstall magisk?
How do I find the non Sprint/Telus OTA file to side load?
Worked fine for me. Phone is running great now with no hiccups. The past week I started getting freezes that required a reboot.. but all is well now.
Snappy and fast again.
my mic seems to stopped working since this update :/
