Battery issue, software or hardware? - Galaxy S6 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello,
I bought a second hand S6, and after some while I noticed a battery issue.
While discharging, everyting is normal until about 11-12%, when it drops to 5% and then continues like normal, 4-3-2-1-shutdown.
If I put the charger even for a second in any percentage below 5% it jumps to 8-9% , and then contunues the discharge from there without missing capacity.
If again I continue to charge without disconnecting, if goes lets say from 1% to 8% instantly and then continues charging like normal.
Is this normal for an old phone? Or can I fix it somehow?
I had never noticed anything like that in any of my android phones before, ever 3 years old.
I have already deleted battery stats, and performed 2-3 times full charge/discharge cycles, without results
The ROM is original 6.0.1 rooted.

Hello,
Tried at 100% and stayed at 100%
Should I try at 10% or 1% ?

It happens for me too. It's just Samsung's failure. Sometimes my battery jumps %1 to %17 when i plug the charger.
To be honest, you can't do anything about it.

I did the proceadure at 14% it dropped to 0% after some seconds and then shut down.
I charged it OFF but when it reached 95% went to 100% in seconds.
When I unplug at 100% and wait 5 minutes (always OFF) at next connection to charger showed 95%.
So it took me 1 hour of intermitted charges to reach 100% and stay there.
We'll see what happens next. I'll keep you updated.

I cannot understand why my phone shows battery full when it reaches 96%.
I also tried with a wipe with no results.
Ideas?

I must be blind... I'll have a look for the third time
Thx
from what i've read it does that to preserve your batery. if the baterry is charged to 100% and then discharges to 0%, doing that will affect your baterry life so by not charging to 100% your batery is going to last longer.

[BUG] Full Charge Oddity, Charge to 100%, Unplug to 97%

I'm having some even more strange battery performance. So over the past couple days my phone has charged to 97% then stopped charging. By that, I don't mean that it started discharging but rather it stopped showing any indication of charging and stayed at 97%. To try and see what was going on I decided to "calibrate" my battery. I absolutely killed it yesterday and plugged it in over night. This morning when I woke up, it was at the usual 97% so I unplugged and replugged it back in. I left it for a few hours and came back and booted it up to find it was at 98%. Odd because it charged from 30% to 97% the other night in 2.5 hours. So I powered it off again and checked back another few hours later. This time it had dropped to 97%. What the hell is going on here. I've decided to forego the calibrating and just see what the hell happens when I leave it on and plugged in. Its currently back at 98%
According to battery graph it did hit 100% about 2 hours ago for about 10 minutes then dropped back down to 98%. I'm completely baffled here...
So it hit 99% and stopped charging. Again, its not just saying fully charged, it actually is acting as though it is unplugged yet not discharging battery...Roger please help lol

[Q] RAZR HD Maxx EB40 voltage ranges

What voltage ranges do you guys get for 100% and 1%?
I bought a new EB40 for a friend's phone and am getting some weird effects. I've previously done the EB40 in Atrix HD in my own phone and it's been fine, but I haven't actually let it run down below 50% yet.
Full Story:
At first the phone wouldn't turn on, but the LED would turn on when I plugged it into the charger. I left it on the charger for 10 minutes and then it would turn on to the battery charging screen, reporting 1% battery left.
I then made it boot into the OS. After a couple minutes charging, it jumped to 100%. I left it on for an hour, then disconnected it, and then it was slowly going down like normal. However, after it hit 85% or so, it just suddenly died.
Then I had to charge it and it was back to 1% and the same thing repeated.
I tried clearing battery stats (/data/system/batterystats.bin) but it seemed similar. Now I'm trying to run the battery till it dies, it's been at 1% for quite a while. Then I'll charge it back to 100%, but is it possible I got a dud?
We ran it down to 1% again, it died, and and it went back up to 100% again. I'm figuring once I get down to the real 1% and dies, when I turn it on it won't be at 100% like every other time. Then perhaps it will charge all the way up to the real 100%.
So far it's been like this voltage wise:
3.966V: 3%
...
3.725V: 1%
died
3.696V: 100%
...
3.663V: 1%
died
3.661V: 100%

i believe when these batterys are fully charged it should be around 4.300 so if the most your getting up to is 3.700 there is probably something wrong

Z5 battery loses charge when left charging at "100 %"

I have noticed that when i plug my Z5 in to charge overnight, it will charge to full in just a few hours and then remain plugged in for the next ~6 hours until i unplug the phone 'fully charged" in the morning.
My theory is that the phone loses charge (maybe to protect the battery?) when left plugged in at full charge.
I will only get 3 hours SOT max if i leave my phone charging overnight. But if i unplug my Z5 as soon as it is fully charged i get 5 + hours SOT.
Also, often when i plug my phone into charge at 1 or 2 %, it sometimes actually causes my battery to die, before the phone boots again and starts to charge. Does anyone else notice this?
I am using the stock sony UCH 20 charger with came with my Z5.
What do you guys think?
That does sound peculiar. It should be noted that while it is normal for the phone to protect the battery by cycling between 90% and 100% when plugged in (battery gauge doesn't account for this, that's why it appears full all the time), it definitely shouldn't cause a 40% difference in SOT even if you happened to unplug when the battery is at 90 percent.
Yes, you're right. Once the battery is charged to 100%, the phone stops charging and will let the battery drop to around 92% and once it hits 92% it will start charging again to 100%. Even if you unplug the phone when it's showing 100% after charging at night, it might actually be charged to 93% for example. That's why very often people complain that the first 10% of the battery drops very quickly, while in fact it's just the battery meter catching up with the battery charge. This is done to protect the battery and ensure it retains charge after many cycles.
Regardless of that, the difference should not be that huge. For me it's usually extra 30 minutes SOT.
It seems the stock firmware has a load of random wakelocks but I have hope that a soon to come update will fix most of the issues, if you are rooted I suggest that you use greenify or amplify (reqires xposed)

Pixel on Android 10 doesn't fully charge when off

So I've noticed that the phone doesn't charge above approximately 73% when fully turned off. I'm using the standard Google charger for the phone. It also charges normally when the phone is turned on. See screenshot...
My refurbished Pixel also does not show only around 65% charge after being plugged in for the whole night.
But then when I use it, it sort of freezes at a specific battery percentage, so it is on for example 30% for two hours, before it goes further down. See the attached picture.
So at least in my case, the phone is fully charged when turned off and plugged in, but somehow the percentage count of the phone does not recognize it. Maybe it's more or less the same in your case?
I too am having battery issues since updating to the latest October Android 10. I have bootloader unlocked and rooted with latest magisk Canary build.
I can charge to 100% but it then tends to stick at a certain% for a while and then the battery dies at 15-20%. I've tried battery calibration but it doesn't seem to help
I've had a dose of the same lately, had a couple of days where my charge has reached 42% for the entire day? Still charges fine but from a 100% charge I will lose at least 13% - 16% charge in a few hours on idle with nothing showing as draining heavy in battery manager. If I run it down to 18% or less and try and use the camera it will shutdown and if I can get it to reboot it's on 1%. I've come to the conclusion its the battery (could be wrong) purely as it's acting exactly the same way as my nexus 6p did when it's battery started to fail.

Why does Mate9 sometimes refuse to recharge battery

Can anyone suggest what is happening here please with Mate9?
My phone has a new battery for last 6 months after original battery started swelling and expanding the phone case. New battery works like original except very occasionally, maybe once a month, the battery runs down faster than normal. It might normally last 36 hours whereas once in a while it would run down in 12 hours - last time the usage attributed high power consumption by Huawei Health app, but I don't know if this was culprit before. HOWEVER, when I plug in charger the phone doesn't charge but continues to run down. If I turn it off it doesn't charge but continues to run down. Then if I wait a few hours with it turned off it then acts normally and recharges 100% in 90 minutes in the turned off state for a full 36hrs++ usage when powered on again.
So what is wrong? Just and old phone needs replacing?
