While I'm using my phone it keeps discharging. Screen is on minimum brightness, all apps closed, charging with original charger. Stock ROM, same happens with franco and ElementalX kernels. Haven't tried with stock ROM, but that would probably be even worse. Is there an app to check my charger, IE an app that would show charging amperage or something? Thanks
EDIT: The beggining of the post sounds so dumb What I wanted to say is that the phone keeps discharging while charging and using it at the same time. I'll just leave original text like this, it may make some people laugh
well, it depends what you are doing. if its discharging while using and you are only reading a web page, then its not supposed to. but if you are charging and using, and its discharging while you are gaming, thats normal. also it would matter if you are charging it via ac or usb(check how your phone shows the connection). if usb, than it discharging while using is very normal.

Just browsing on 3G. Sometimes listening to music too. It discharges even faster if I'm listening music with my headphones too. All I'm using is chrome beta or Flow for reddit. I'm using xposed, all location and wifi scanning **** turned is off...

right, but does your phone tell you its connected usb or ac? usb has a much lessor charge, and using it while its charging usb can easily drain the battery. oh, and xposed comes with a multitude of undocumented issues. most probably wont affect you, but some possibly can, the modules.

AC. I know about all these things, it's just that my discharge rate while charging seems not to be normal. It is 1.2 A charger, but it isn't behaving like one... Or am I just not used to nexus and that thing is totally normal?

1.2 amp charger is pretty weak, im using a 2.1 amp. yea, i know the stock charger is 1.2, but google also sells a 1.8 amp charger for the n5, they advertise more power and a faster charge.

It would be nice if google sold those in my country... Funny thing is that my ~10$ dual usb car charger charges my phone 2x times better than this ”original” one.
The stock charger should be able to keep up with heavy usage, let alone basic web browsing. I can play intensive 3D games and still get a trickle charge. Something is wrong with either your charger or the device. The tricky thing is that all the current meter apps measure current by checking the net current on the battery... which means you're obviously going to have a negative current since your phone is discharging. The only accurate way is to get a USB ammeter. Do you have another charger from an old phone you can try? That would be my first step here.

sounds like the charger might be going bad, they can go bad fairly quickly, and often. try a different charger as said above.
UPDATE:
Original charger is ****. Overnight it charged my phone to 88%. No wakelocks, no sync, just wifi. When I woke up, it discharged to ~70s. Then I said f this ****, plugged my old 0.5 A charger and it charged my phone faster with screen on than the original one on deep sleep. I don't like this.
Go to the general sub forum. There Is a thread with the best charger you can get. The folding blade charger. Charges your phone from %15 to full in just over an hour. 3 for $5 free shipping in USA. I got 6
Seems like it's charging super slow for some reason. I'd do some troubleshooting maybe it's the power source or something if anyone having the same issue please let me know how you guys fix it.

Ok, so oddly enough, I noticed the exact same issue last night. I did a few searches online, and found something interesting. According to one of the sites I visited, the fast-charging only kicks in when the battery is below a certain level, 15% I believe. Then, as it's charging and the percentage rises, the charging slows down. Long story short: the lower your battery is, the faster it'll charge. I guess Sammy didn't want to burn out your Note 5 battery by fast-charging all the time. I'll try to find that article and post it here for you!
Note: I let my phone drop into the low teens last night, and sure enough, it began fast-charging as soon as I plugged it in. Maybe it's just coincidence though...who knows.
Edit: Here's the article: http://www.gottabemobile.com/2015/08/20/5-quick-chargers-for-the-galaxy-note-5-s6-edge-plus/
That's false, actually it will fast charge on any percentage level.
Right now I'm at 10% and it says cable charging, sometimes I'll be at 90% and it will say fast charging. No fix yet? I do know if you unplug and plug back in several times it will say fast charging. Sometimes one time, sometimes 4-6 times...

I have the same issue. Tried different kernels. Haven't tried switching roms though. I'm on breakdown v3. Rom isn't the issue though. No idea what is going on
Maybe it's the cable? I had to get a new one. Like I burned the old one up.
My cousins note 5 wouldn't fast charge, and I told him to swap out the cable, and boom it worked again.
So, seemingly, we have a sudden burst of people with this issue. I guess the OEM cable has a couple month life expectancy lol
Yup, cable
I've noticed this issue too. I just keep plugging it in until it fast charges (usually 5 or 6 times). Not a great workaround, but it works.
Mine has thus problem too , but if I use the same USB cable and the charger that came with my Note 3 it at least charges at regular speed, but with the fast charger and same cable I get less than that .
My indian note 5 has the same problem. Sometimes it fast chargesvand sometimes not. I went to Samsung service center and got the charger replaced. Now it is workinf fine.
I tried using the cable that came with my Note 4, and now it works fine. It's a longer cable, maybe that has something to do with it.
It's clearly not dependent on being at a certain percentage considering mine is fast charging right now and it's at 57 and will continue to fast charge until full or at least display a notification that it's fast charging until it's full.
In all my testing it's the cables. I have 4 power adaptive blocks that came with various models including N4, S6E, S6E+, and N5. All the blocks work with my N5 as long as I use the USB cable from my Note 4. If I use a cable from the S6E, S6E+, or the N5 it doesn't fast charge. The N4 cable is much beefier then the newer cables. Maybe they are just making cheaper cables nowadays. The N3 charger was beefier then the N4 charger although that's kind of expected being usb 3.0.

Is it the cable or the adapter that determines the fast charging??? For instance can I use my longer thicker note 4 cord with the new note 5 base and get fast charging?
I think the USB cable that comes with the Samsung fast chargers is faulty. I have 2 fast chargers, 1 from the S6 edge and 1 from the Note 5 and neither one of them will fast charge with the supplied usb cable. I can use any other usb cable and fast charging will work, it just won't work with the Samsung cables.

Hi to all i have very strange and f*cked up problem that drives me crazy and i might change my opo just for this. When i plug my phone to wall charger, charging starts with normal speed(1200-1700mah) but after a few seconds(sometimes munites) charging suddenly stops and re-starts after few secs but this time, speed drops to 300-400 mahs. And it happens to me like all roms(currently using tugapower but was same on lineage too) with stock kernel. Changed my charger for this to original samsung 5v 2a charger but it happens with it too. I had to replug the charger for couple times(if i am lucky) for fix it and then it charges with full speed until i use my phone. As soon as i start to use it while charging, it stops again and speed drops. And weirdest part: it doesnt happen when i use my mi powerbank 2(quickcharge 2.0 certificated,10000mah) even when i use my phone it charges with around 1500mah. But if i want to use my wall charger it SUCKS. Please somebody help me with this. Thank you.
wow is that how fast our phones supposed to charge at!? mine charges at 400-600mah and i thought that was fast hahah wow, it was 100-200 with other cables as well i thought i was doing good :/

400-600? that is so slow dude it takes about 3-4 hours to fully charged right? it is not normal. Our phones regular value is around 800-900(1A) but it supports 2A(1400-1500) via kernel.

No mate, about an hour. I'm on jgcaaps rom though, with any other rom it could take anywhere between 2-3H. I'm also telling porkies, I just double checked and I'm now getting between 900-1100mA. I'm using the cable that came with my Smok Alien.
Hi,
for me, the charging speed varies between 50 and 75 minutes for a full charge. It says warp charge 65 on the lockscreen. Any idea, what might cause it being slower than it should be? I am on OOS 11.0.4.5.
Thanks
Mine actually charges faster than advertised. It charges from totally discharged to fully charged in 35 minutes with the phone turned off.

Check to see if you have optimised charging enabled. If you do then that slows down charging.

Thanks, it is switched off. Do you know how much current is used when charging at about 60%? According to 3C, it is between 1,800 and 2,800 mA. Only once, I have seen about 6,000 mA in a similar situation. Somehow this looks rather random to me.
Warp charge is as advertised for me. Any other charger is extremely slow. Gsam shows I'm at about 3400 while charging from 60-70.

I stop paying attention to the current because in the end it doesn't matter what instantaneous current I am seeing. I always see it starts with 5500+ mA for just a few seconds and drop to 3000+. I ignored it and just let it charge (phone on, screen off).
I usually charge from 2x % to 90%, and it takes no longer than 25 minutes most of the time. Averaging 2.5~3% per minute.
Usb cable or usb port of your phone might be at fault.
My 8t takes less than 40 mins even with optimized charging turned on.
Because my phone says Warp charge 65, I do not think charger or cable are broken. I try to avoid uncharging my phone to a low level, so I cannot tell how long it would take from empty to full.
The other observations are like what @zellleonhart is describing. I had just wanted to rule out hardware issues for a new device.

That used to happen to me. 65w would only happen for some charges and other times it would be slower taking over an hour to fully charge. Now it charges fast every single time in 40 mins or less. Not sure what fixed it but I have a t mobile variant converted to the latest eu 11.0.5.6 and optimized charging off. I don't always charge full but the first 15-20 mins being fast seems important imo since that can be done after waking up and getting ready
I think we are all forgetting that we aren't charging one 4500 battery but actually two 2250 batteries at the same time. It legitimately charges from 0-100 in under 40 minutes, I've tested it. The problem is it's not compatible with any other charger I've tried. Quick charge 1,2,3,4 or PD or even the warp 30 from my OnePlus 7 pro. Any other charger I try is like plugging it into a computer and would take 24 hours to charge. OnePlus definitely messed something up and really needs to fix it soon.

My original observation (and this was confirmed by multiple people now) was that using the original charger and cable, charging speed varies a lot and only sometimes had cuurents for a few mins, which could charge in 40 mins if it would be constantly at that rate.
Your comment about slow charges using other chargers unfortunately is very true. I have tries lots of combinations (chargers for Macbook Pro, Xiaomi phones, older Oneplus chargers and cables from 3T) and the fastest of these would need about 3-4h and the slowest about 10-12h (estimates based on current).

My phone has charged at the advertised speeds every single time I've ever plugged in the warp charger. It charges my phone everyday from 20%-80% in 18 minutes. I've charged it from 0-100 in 38 minutes.

Just tried the 30W Warp charger of my OP3T again after installing xXx_NoLimits and now this is also charging relatively fast. Estimated full charge time is 1:35.
And yes, I understand that for some folks the full speed has always worked
This is the absolute best warp charge magnetic cable I and my friends have ever used. Been using it for years now. Both warp and dash changes and better yet. None of my phones have charging port issues ^_^.
Hello everyone, i just bought a new wireless charger form Baseus and charge my s21+ with fast wireless charging on, and while charging i notice that the phone battery get as hot as 40 degree Celsius. SO i try turn off the fast wireless charging option and let the phone cool off to ambient temp (around 32-34 degree) and charge again, but it still reaches 40 degree.
I want to ask is this normal, and please share your temperature while using wireless charging and the brand of charger you use.

Well, phones getting hot while charging is usually normal.
Sometimes it happens when the phone charges for too long and at a higher voltage and amps.

Yeah, fast charging is faster, and wireless charging sometimes in some phones is hitter than cable. Depends on the manufacturer of the phone and the model and the wireless charger itself.

Hmm maybe it would be online, I don't have the particular phone and a thermal imager so i wouldn't know exactly.
Hi guys, hope it's ok I ask a similar question here.
I do to have S21 5G (exynos) and samsung 15w wireless charger with 25w brick.
The issues I'm having is with charging speeds. If I use fast charging, the current is around 2700mA. But as soon as the temperature hits around 35-36 degrees charging current starts oscillating between 300-600-900 mA. It takes around 5 hours to fully charge the phone. It's faster if I turn off fast charging. It takes around 3 hours.
Room temp is around 26 c.
I don't remember having similar issues with S20.

Fast charging increases the wattage of the charge so your phone overheats.
If it overheats too much the phone limites the charge rate to protect the components.
It seems like a flaw in the fast charging or smth like that
keep fast charging off if it overheats your phone, and maybe try keeping it in a cooler environment
