HTC U11 Sense Home app issue - HTC U11 Questions & Answers

Hi Guys,
I just recently bought the U11 and I noticed that when double clicking the power button to launch the camera, the camera would launch, then dim, then un-dim.
I thought this was odd, and I eventually realized that it's due to Sense Home launching in the background as well.
So when I double click the power button, launch the camera, then tap the "Recent Apps" view, I see Camera, and Sense Home open in the preview.
When I tap Sense Home, it just brings me to my home screen with all my icons and whatnot.
Weird thing is that when I launch the camera by tapping the camera icon I don't get the dimming/un-dimming, and Sense Home doesn't launch.
I occasionally see it in the "Recent Apps" view, so it's being launched by other apps as well.
The minor annoyance is that when I close the open Sense Home window in the Recent Apps, it takes maybe 2 seconds for the icons on my home screen to load up, and they load bottom to top individually.
Usually, when I don't see Sense Home open, then go to my home screen, all apps load instantaneously as if they had always been there.
I'm assuming it's like ending the process on explorer.exe on windows and running it again.
So I'm looking for a solution where I can prevent Sense Home from being launched as an app.
Android version: 7.1.1
Software number: 1.20.762.2 (no other updates currently available in Japan)
Carrier: Softbank

[REQUEST] [APP] Fast Home Long Press App?

I've been using http://www.appbrain.com/app/com.esdmobile.taskswitcher with a single Home button tap to activate, but I'm not a fan of the huge app previews. I'd like an icon only view (especially since it's 15 apps on one screen via CM6).
So I'm looking for an app that will open the Home Long Press by tapping the Home button once (ie NOT a long press), while still allowing use of LauncherPro etc. (A second tap would bring it back to the actual home screen.)
Does such an app exist?
have you tried quickdesk?
Power Strip is nice. It is so much more than just recent apps though. But I have it set to start with the recent apps tab, and can also use it to check a few widgets or as a launcher.

Yeah, didn't like it.
I'm just looking to open the Recent Apps list via a single button tap.
You could tap on 'more recent' on your desktop

Aye. It's a start I currently have More Recent set to LauncherPro Dock middle button swipe up Although it's not as fast as I would like: when in an app, need to go Home -> Swipe up, so an extra step.
If the Android Recent Apps list is completely inaccessible, then More Recent on a single home tap would be just as good

[Q] "Show All Aplications" is missing

I use CM 7.2 ROM. There are 3 "buttons" at the bottom of any home screen. The one in the middle is for showing all the application. Apparently, my kids deleted that icon action and I don't know how to put back the previous action.
Done it before mate, all you got to do is long press the home screen, go to launcher actions, then open/close app drawer
u try rebooting the phone?

How can I designate a default homescreen on Nova Launcher Prime?

This has been driving me batty for months. I note [email protected] is a senior XDA member so I'm hopeful I'll find a solution here.
I'm running Android 5.0.1 on an HTC One (M8). I've had Nova Prime launcher as default for a couple years and love it, but I cannot find the magic formula for designating my primary homescreen (the one with my clock app and primary app icons--there are two screens to the left; three to the right of this screen) as default. when I tap home twice and get all homescreens in view, there are white house icons above every screen EXCEPT the one I want as default, which shows a black house icon. When I want to go to the homescreen, any of the six may come up when home is tapped.
What I'm trying to do is set my chosen homescreen as default so it pops up whenever I tap home. Not sure if it could be a factor, but I'm also using the Next lockscreen widget as well.
It used to be pretty simple to designate the default homescreen, but either it's become more complicated (or I've gotten stupider)
Any help out there?
Thanks
Go into the home screen overview, then tap and hold the home icon of the screen you want to be your default. That icon should turn white and become the default screen.
Thanks, Scottjb
This is what I find bizarre--what you've suggested only seems to work in reverse: 5 of my homescreen icons are white houses--if I tap and hold on one of those it turns black, however if I tap and hold the black house on the screen I want to designate, absolutely nothing happens. Confused here!

Different Multitasking Windows

I have been aware of multitasking by holding down the app manager button, but in the process of playing today with Chrome I realized that if you hold on to the top right edge of the screen just past the options menu and drag down to the center of the screen you will resize the app into a window. I tried this with other multitasking apps and it worked. It's cool too that they get minimized into chat head like circles if you return to the home screen and can have more than 2 running. Just wanted to share this in case that people weren't aware if it.

Can I create new home screen panel to the left of the “main” panel in Android 10?

I have Pixel 3a running Android 10.
I can create new home screen panel by moving application shortcuts to the right of rightmost existing panel. However, I can't move them to the left of the "main" panel (when I say "main" I mean the one to which you navigate by pressing "Home" button).
Is it possible to do in Android 10? The panel to the left of the main one used to have Google News, I turned it off but can't place anything else there.
I am coming from old phone running Android 4.2 and there it was possible. "Main" panel was in the middle and I could create new panels on either side.
yes. you just need to create 3 screens and have your main home screen be the middle screen. then from the middle screen you can move left or right. not sure if thats what you want though cause you are correct that they only get created to the right.

I don't think this is what I want because if I click "Home" button I am always brought to the leftmost panel. I updated my OP to be clearer on what I mean.
ok. but when i create the 3 screens and press home it navigates to the middle screen. so i do have a screen to the left and right of the home. thing is i'm using the nova launcher so that's probably it. i guess you're using pixel launcher? might want to search for pixel launcher apps that change the function.

Yes, I am using Pixel launcher.
Apparently the Dec Android update brings gestures to third party launchers which is been a missing element up until now. Once you take the update, you may want to try out Nova Launcher or another third party launcher to achieve what you are looking for. I know I had to stop using Nova on Android 10 because I wanted to use gesture navigation. Now that Google is allowing gesture navigation on third party launchers, I'm sure I'll go back to Nova. I really miss the app draw folders!
But you can definitely add as many screen as you want and even reset the "home" screen easily using Nova. So if you want one screen to the left, then home screen, then a screen to the right - that will be no problem using Nova. In fact you can turn on the infinite swipe feature where the home screens won't ever hit a hard "end" but keep flowing when swiped. So if you have three home screens and swipe right from the third screen you will flow from 3 -> 2 -> 1 ->3 ->2 ->1 etc etc etc. But anytime you press the home button, you can set it to be taken to the middle screen.
