Hi guys,
I have a Moto G4 Plus, running stock OS but rooted. I've recently noticed that out of nothing, the Location History feature stopped tracking my locations. Now let's be clear about these things:
1. Location is enabled. Google Maps shows and tracks my location perfectly. GPS Test Plus shows a myriad of satellites. Location IS working.
2. Location History is also enabled.
3. My device, inside Location History, is also enabled, but it says "Location last reported: Sep 29th".
So far I've tried removing and reinstalling Google Maps and erasing the cache partition. Can't think of anything else. I've searched on the net and seems to have affected several people but can't find a solution, and I don't want to do a factory reset.
Anyone here experienced the same?
Thanks!!!

Running Galaxymod 14.1. I don't think I had this problem before this ROM but my GPS won't find me. Uninstalled maps, earth and street view. Cycled all 3 location permissions on and off, toggled GPS on and off multiple times, restarted the phone at least 5 times. Reinstalled maps, still can't "find my location". Cleared cache for Google services... Probably other things too I just can't remember.
Any suggestions? Is it me, GalaxyMod, or Google Services?
It isn't the ROM, I am running it and it is working great. If you will search the forums, there is an app that people were downloading and fixing the same problem that you are having. It is GPS something, I can't remember.
I've got a problem. When I open Google Maps it doesn't seem to activate my GPS so my location is decided by the operator-network and/or wifi, and is not very precise. I've tried to keep Google Maps open for a long time but my location is never that precise as when the GPS is activated. Also if I log into Android Device Manager on the web, I only get a location with an accuracy of 1.5-2 kilometres so that's neither located by GPS.
But if I then enter a route in Google Maps and use the Navigation, the GPS is turned on and everything is fine. It's the same if I use Sygic GPS Navigation. I've got Avast Anti-Theft installed on my phone and if I log into avast.com and send a location command to my phone, it's also located by GPS with an accuracy of 5 metres.
I've installed 'GPS Status & Toolbox' and set the app to show an icon in my navigation bar when the GPS is used. And it's the same as described above - when Google Maps is open there's no icon but when I use Navigation the icon it's there.
I'm pretty sure that on my last phone (Samsung Galaxy S II) with Android 4.4.2 Google Maps also used the GPS and I've got a precise location every time, so my question is how to get it in the same way on my new phone (Sony Xperia Z1) with Android 4.4.4? There are many times I just want to see on Google Maps exactly where I am without using the Navigation directions to a specific location.

I'm having a similar problem to this where GPS is a bit inaccurate. Would love to hear peoples solves for this. Thanks.

Have either of you guys tried clearing app data and see if that works? Every once in a while I get that to resolve my issues.

i don't know about the gps not turning on at all, but it is a somewhat known bug on googles end when wifi is used to help location services, it frequently causes accuracy issues.
try turning off your wifi and see how it acts.
Yeah, off wifi it's more accurate. But yes, rooter, just cleared my app data and that did the trick, thanks.
Hi,
This started happening a few days ago. I haven't made any changes to my phone, haven't dropped the phone etc., in the last few weeks. Rooted Nexus 5, stock android 5.1.
Google Maps and GasBuddy show my current location, incorrectly, at a spot located a few miles from me. I haven't been in that area in a long time.
MapQuest and Waze show my correct location, and so does the "GPS Status & Toolbox" app which shows my correct GPS coordinates.
If I set my Location settings mode to "Device only" (use gps to determine your location) then Google Maps and Gas Buddy time out 'waiting for location', it seems that they can't access some part of the GPS functionality. MapQuest and Waze aren't affected by the Location mode, they work the same no matter what the setting is.
Also, I have deleted and re-downloaded my "AGPS" data.
does this sound familiar to anyone, any suggestions?
Hi
My device is running the latest firmware (132), needless to say it's a Chinese version.
When I try to share my location on Google Maps, I get the following error: "We couldn't turn on Location History for [email protected]. To turn on Location History go to Location settings". However, when I click on "Open Location Settings", the Location History setting DOESN'T even EXIST so I cannot toggle it ON.
Any idea how to fix this issue? I tried almost everything except factory setting which I don't believe would help.
Thanks
David
Hi David,
I agree with your request. I had also opened a topic about it because I can not activate the Google Maps history.
I tried to restore the Honor Note 10, to install Google services (Google Services, Google Framework) but I was not able to enable the history anyway.
Someone says that it is the Chinese ROM that does not allow it to do so, another user reports that the chronology works for him https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=77741213&postcount=32
Hello, I spoofed my location with FakeLocation app prior my trip to somewhere. So I'm not sure if my problem related with spoofing or not, because I actually visited that place for couple days.
Google Maps shows the location I spoofed first then after couple seconds shows my real location. İf I close/open app it happens again. Yandex Map stucks on wrong location permanetly. I searched on the forum and Google before posting this thread and tried all of the solutions recommended. I'm trying to fix this over 2 weeks now.
I turned off Mocked Location on developer setttings
I deleted app data/cache uninstalled/installed Google Maps
I deleted app data/cache of Google Play
I tried to deleted Google Location History (it was turned of already)
I opened/closed High accuracy/Wifi/Bluetooth Scans
I tried to reset A-GPS data with GPS Status App and GPS Locker
I wiped dalvik/cache on TWRP
I installed lastest Eurom for my phone
+GpsFİx Apps shows
Android GPS Provider - Spoofed Location
Android Network Provider - Spoofed Location
Google Play Services - Real Location
+CIT GPS test (Hardware Test) Passes with Real Location
I feel like I tried evertyhing except factory resetting. Do you have any recommendations?
