Hello guys!
It would be so nice if you can help me out here...
What I want:
I would like a specific app to show ONLY LED light when receiving notifications. I don't want the app(notifications) to appear at lockscreen, in status bar or whatever.
Is there any solution to turn only LED notifications on for one app?
I think so. Try to intercept the notification using AutoNotification or Notification Listener, then create your own generic Led Notify notification.

Try intercepting the notifications with the 'Tasker' application with the 'autonotification' plugin
I thought this was in the Tasker section.
Anyway, @outis151 has in mind what I had.
You would need two things, the app "Tasker" and the plugin "AutoNotification". If you are not familiar, the Tasker app has a steep learning curve but adds a lot of functionality to the phone. AutoNotification is a plugin for Tasker that allows you to handle notifications.
What you would do:
Create a profile that triggers when you receive a notification from your specified application.
Then you assign a task to that that contains the following actions:
1. Dismiss/cancel notification and also make it prevent sounding
2. You start an action called Notify Led to flash your led.
3. Set a variable to true when message received
Then you need one more profile, that when the above variable is true and when the specified app is started, then you trigger notify cancel (to cancel the led, assuming that when you open that app you see the notification).
Hope this explains it a bit more. Sorry, I assumed you had some knowledge before.
Both Tasker and AutoNotification have their evaluation period, so you could try it out. I'd be happy to help you build it up and send you some files, but you'd need to see some tutorials to understand what the apps are and what they do.
If you need any more info, feel free to ask.

I'm totally new to tasker, not a little bit of knowledge here...
But I'll give it a try tomorrow!

Hi everyone.
To keep the Smartwatch Impressions Thread clean of bug-reports for my Apps i wanted to provide a own thread for them.
I just started developing for Android and the Sony Smartwatch because i missed so many functionality on my Smartwatch and the apps where missing in the market.
Some of them are done after people asked they want a app like that. For example the GPS Maps apps and the whatsapp notifier.
So if you miss some app for your smartwatch i might look at it to make it.
So here they are:
the Mail notifier (1.0.2.3):
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=de.bytewiese.liveware.extension.imapnotification
is using the javamail library for android. So there might be some bugs in it from me and from the library.
GPS Maps (1.0 Beta):
using OpenStreetMap: http://bytewiese.de/fileadmin/_media/dl/smartwatch/SmartwatchMap.apk
Does show a Map on your smartwatch with your position with the GPS-Data of your Phone
Google Maps App (currently v1.0.9.1) in the Google Play Store: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=de.bytewiese.liveware.extension.gpsmap
Calendar Events (1.0.0):
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=de.bytewiese.liveware.extension.calendarevents
shows the current/future event of your default calendar and you can swipe to the left/right to see the next or previous Event with time and description.
WhatsApp notifier (2.1 Beta):
http://bytewiese.de/fileadmin/_media/dl/smartwatch/SmartwatchWhatsappNotifier21.apk
shows a notification from the WhatsApp application when it is installed and running with notifications enabled. (still buggy as it looks.)
Calculator (1.0.0.4):
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=de.bytewiese.liveware.extension.quickcalc.
Calculator for the smartwatch.
Thanks for all your reportings and ideas and i hope we can continue in this thread.
Great
Kudos for the thread
will continue to support ur app and report my findings
Sorry to trouble u again but could you fixed the Call log Smart Extras™ since it doesnt support ICS thanks again
TIPS: Whatsapp notifier
- If stop giving notification please disable & enable it back on the phone, also opening the app on the phone trough the watch might prevent it to notify again.
Disable & enable it back again
Thanks for your hard work!
Regarding the mail app, the "action toast button" doesn't do anything.
Also if i put my phone in airplane mode at night i get a flood of "failed to connect to server" messages. Would be sweet just to have one error which clears after the connection returns if possible.
Whatsapp notifier, don't use the open on phone option for now as it will stop alerting on new messages.
Seems as though something else stops it notifying time to time but don't know what triggers it. Disabling and enabling app fixes it.
If received two messages and both have been unread, will show an alert saying "2 new messages"rather than the actual messages. Customnotifier does the same thing so there may not be a workaround.
I'm here to continue testing at your will. Your apps will be great to end up on the market.
Cheers

Sorry if this sounds like a stupid question, but has anyone tried how well the old OpenWatch app fares with the new SmartWatch?

Hi beowulf,
The gps maps app does not work on my sgs2. It only shows a white screen. I only saw the map once for a short moment.
Hi. The loading sometimes takes a bit long.
But you can try the new version of it which will hopefully soon be available from the google market.
It is uploaded and published so look out for it. But i will hint to it as soon as i see it in the market. (I hope i am allowed to post links to my apps in the market)
It will have some new features you will hopefully like.
(You will need to remove the old version manually though)
//edit: ok. Finaly my first app in the android market.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=de.bytewiese.liveware.extension.gpsmap
I think i already found a bug though. It seems as soon as the app is closed and reopened on the watch that there is stil a old picture flickering. Will look at this. I would be happy if you continue to test and report bugs and ideas.
Just downloaded it from the Play Store!
Still not working though. Even the gps does not stop after closing the app.
Congratulations Beowulf6!
Thank you very much for your work.
hi Wop2k,
yes. was the same cause of my problem with the flashing screen.
i hope i finaly fixed it. I already updated the app in the market and i hope it works now for you now without a white screen.
if it is still not working i would like to know your android version.
Thanks.

Hey, I recently released an app to Google Play and was wondering if you guys could help me out to test it and to give me feedback!
The app is called Sms Replier and it's a tool that can be used to send texts to people who call you while you're unable to get to your phone to answer(while you're in an exam, or playing a game of soccer, etc.). I know this idea has been done before, but I want to know whether you think it's worth it for me to keep working on it so as to add features which have not been done in any other app. Please let me know how well it performs/what things I should change about it, and please rate it on Google Play!
I am excited to get some real criticism from android users so that I can continue to make this app what I originally set out for it to be!
The app is completely free! Thank you in advance.
I like it! Simple, but I would love a widget.

Hey. Can the app send sms at a specific time? For example set it to send an sms to a contact at 2pm and when the clock becomes 2pm it sends the sms. Cz I'm looking for such a feature.
Also it would be great if the above could work on whatsapp too. Thanks

what would be good is to have either a widget to toggle on / off, permanent notification to enable access to the menu, or an idle / activity monitor like if phone left idle for x minutes then enable it; as soon as there's human activity then de-activate it (could be linked to the auto screen dim/off).
A very nice app, very useful for businesses. Out Of Office Reply
A great start! I would also like to add some suggestions (some may be repeats).
1. Widgets that you can add to turn on and off selected notifications.
2. Auto respond based on a pre-determined schedule.
3. Auto start on startup option (for scheduled events).
4. # appears over icon to notify user how many messages were replied to while away (like mail or missed call icon).
Keep up the great work!

as bigdog said those are very essential to complete this app.
first time i installed the app.. i was really surprised to see its simplicity really awesome
i would like to add some suggestions and doubts from mine sides too even though they may be repeated
some brainstorming got me to bring up these elements
1. sometimes there can just be miss calls.. you can add up timer like (send sms before ringer, on one ring, on two rings, or like if didnt pick the call at all will send an sms)
2. a status bar indicating that the sms replier with number of sms sent. [a widget would also be helpful]
3. then you can add some templates or profiles like driving, in class or let users create their profiles or templates.
4. there is one more thing that u can get access of contacts and just disconnect the unknown numbers[ofcourse getting the notification with number at our end] and donot sent them a reply in order to maintain the privacy and not let the unknown numbers know what you are upto.
5. and if i may add a option.. a counter to be set to ring if a same person is trying to call for more than two three times or in case of emergency
i will add more when it comes ...
Would be great if it could work on whatsapp!
The difference is that you don't need to click the template to send it when you're receiving the call. It sends automatically when a missed call is recorded. Sorry to assume, but it doesn't seem like you actually tried using the app at all.
Sent from my Nexus 4 using xda app-developers app
@saredev, does your app have feature that can exclude certain numbers from auto responding but they are in the contacts list. For example, notifications banks or credit card companies. These companies don't need to receive auto-response. I think you might have to check the number when it arrives whether it's a phone number or shortcode before auto-response. Or include a list of numbers from auto-response.

I have searched the web, xda and television advertising (oh wait, that was just the television program I was watching...) to find an answer on how to disable the notification that you stopped an apps permission.. I find it rather annoying that is has to be displayed when I know that it is disabled.. A notification would be fine if I tried to perform an action that required that app to have access, but not a constant reminder that I don't want every app to read all my emails.. I am looking for a script, app, updated fixes on other roms?? or something that will let me use it, but not be hounded over my paranoia.. ;p I think Slim Rom has this ability, but how?? I do not want to use only Slim for this one feature.. I turn off debugging notification and others by a simple change in the build.prop.. Could I get a fix in a similar fashion for this notification as well??..
Thanks in advance..
P.S. the finder of the fix will get a free..... ... .. . So act now as that pre-mentioned free thingy is in short supply!

Saw a thread about this on reddit and took a stab at it.
Curious if there is anyone with root that does not have Tasker installed that would want to test it for me? It works on my Moto X, but I have Tasker.
The app fires a notification with the current song playing on Pandora so it can be seen on Active Display. It's still in the early stages, so it's not perfect.
If you're interested in trying it for me, here's a link. The only requirements are having root, using Pandora, and having a Moto X, obviously
https://copy.com/LlLkiTAtpdxnsFt
It will ask for root the first time it tries to run, and it updates every two minutes. Once I can tell that it's working on other devices, I can decrease the refresh time in an effort to be more accurate.
Note: It will ask for root the first time it runs, so you might want to keep your screen on for a few minutes until you see the root request. After that it will just fire the notification.
Edit 3/26: Also make sure that the app is enabled in your Active Display settings if you disabled the option to automatically enable all new apps
Thanks!

Did it request root? It runs on a two minute cycle, and scrapes the existing notifications, one of which is Pandora. It then assigns those to variables and makes its own notification.
If it did ask for root and still didn't work, can you check Settings > Accessibility and see if Tasker is checked?

Does this affect battery life?
For those of you who are not having success, and meet the requirements of the first post, please try it again. The app only updates every two minutes so you will not immediately see the notification appear. Let the sing play for a bit and then it will appear.
Needless to say mind works and I learned the lesson above from my own experiences.
Works Here
Followed directions, SuperSU installed, activate in Active display settings, small delay before it becomes active, works as advertised. Thanks for this.
Could you link Musixmatch Lyrics to Active Display ?
I am huge fan of MusixMatch Lyrics plugin, and love to see the lyrics playing on the Active Display mode itself, so we can see the lyrics without unlocking the phone.
You don't need root to do this with Tasker. All you have to do is use autonotification intercept to intercept the Pandora's notification.
I'll write a profile for you if you want
Lyrics aren't possible, Active Display only allows two lines

I have this pokemon app which sents me a notification with a link to a newly unlocked gym every 3 hours and I want to catch the data of this notification and send it to my computer.
I have thought about this problem and what I came up with was that maybe it's possible to build an app that listens for notifications of other apps and writes them in a .log file which would be accessible to my computer if I used an emulator like bluestacks.
I'm really not sure what the best way to go about this is, or if it's even possible to get a link of an android notification out of the notification bar.
Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance
anyone?
AutoNotification and Tasker should work, but they aren't free.
They do have a 7-day trial though, so you can test with that.

You could probably make a tasker profile to trigger when a notification arrives and then send the contents of the notification to your PC
One idea to send the data from tasker to the PC is to use a flask server on the PC and an HTTP request in tasker. I'll make the code and a setup guide for you if you want.
