Post Your First Impressions

Always curious to hear.
Got mine yesterday.
It's all screen! Lighter, thinner than GS3. Feels more like a small, thin Note 2 which is a good thing to me. Not so bubbly as GS3. Screen is amazing. Bloatware is out of control. The back looks kind of like snake skin.
The speaker is much louder than GS3. So far, I love it. Haven't even tried the features yet!

Got mine yesterday as well. Extremely nice screen! Gorilla Glass 3 resists finger prints better then advertised in my opinion and the overall 5 inch display is incredible. Super zippy but yes, comes loaded with Samsung and AT&T Apps but this shouldn't be too surprising as Samsung did advertise there software quite a bit. Only natural they put there mark in it. On the flip side all this is easily fixable once a root is out but EVEN with this stuff the phone manages to handle it's memory well and work fast.
Overall I am glad I waited and after a couple of weeks I think there people freaking out are really gonna kick themselves for getting all worked up over stupid problems that are easily dealt with.

Hardware is amazing and top notch. Software is so bloated and bogged down that, when combined with locked bootloader, I will strongly consider returning.
People might flame me for this, but even with the bloat disabled and using Nova launcher, my gs3 running slim bean is faster on everyday tasks.
Just hit 5% battery life and the phone just automatically reduced brightness to a point that I can barely use it, and phone won't let me crank it back up. Just way too much garbage.

screen is mind blowingly good, i had a HTC one for 3 days before i got my GS4 and honestly the one was closer to the s4 then i thought it would be. the one had less bloat and it stutter a bit less (after freezing bloat my phone has gotten ALOT better). camera is awesome love the quality and wow this phone is so small for 5 inches. coming from a note 2 and a temporary lumia 920 this thing feels tiny and light, honestly one of the major selling points of the gs4 is it's bezel less design (imo). if bootloader stays locked for long i am selling it or trading it for the one or octa core version.... its a shame that the stock rom is so bloated, i traded the one back because i thought sammy software would blow htc out the water but it didn't . One more thing, the GS4 tv remote works 10000 times better then the htc one. htc could not sync to my sound bar or u-verse box no matter what i tried, the GS4 had that working in seconds. i have 3 remotes just for my bed room and the fact that i do not need them is a huge plus.

You might need to play with the settings some more for the auto brightness settings. As for the lag, AOSP ROMs have always been faster (in my experience) to Touchwiz Roms. I'm going to put up with the stock Touchwiz for as long as I can before trying out the first releases of AOSP on the GS4. I'm hopeful we will see some crazy development action if it's true the Quad-core international version ROM's can easily be ported to the US versions and vice versa. The international GS3 had so much to chose from. I was perfectly happy on my GS3 using AOKP, but I'm sure I'm not going to regret moving over to the GS4. I had the same debate when switching from the GS2 to the GS3.

I dont get mine till tonight, but I found one in a best buy mobile store and was surpised at how much stuttering I saw just going through the homescreens.
Im hoping that when I disable all the eye tracking stuff that will all run better.

I tried the htc one remote control feature and liked it. Only thing I really liked, glad to hear the gs4 one is better. Definitely comes in handy.
How is the camera? Especially the dual shot feature(I feel I'll be using this alot )? And the other camera features?

just got the phone yesterday but i have not played with it a lot, studying for finals . but i did dual shot and it is cool and i could see it being fun to use. have not tried all the shooting modes but i am flying to NYC tonight and i plan on taking a bunch of photos and playing with the camera in depth over the weekend

Overall, better than Galaxy S3 by a decent margin. But I used to have an iPhone 5, and my initial impression is that the IP5 takes better pictures than the GS4, at least in these conditions. I feel like it was extremely rare that I got a bad photo out of that phone, even in a relatively dark room as in these pictures, but as you can see in my link, several of these are pretty bad.

Your pics look pretty good to me. I'm viewing them on my 24" monitor at work though. Cute dog btw. I'm sure compared to the ip5 the gs4 will have better detail due to the higher resolution in normal conditions? Is there an exposure setting? Or other settings to help low light conditions?

Now that I've taken a second look, I guess you are right that they are pretty decent, except for one of them. I'm so used to looking at things on a small screen that when I blow it up on a big monitor I expect it to be just as sharp on a big screen as it was on a small screen!

i agree. those pics you posted dont look that bad. that's the problem with the htc one camera (i own one) when you increase the resolution of the pic, the quality suffers due to only being 4mp. the gs4 is 13mp so it wont be as bad when you increase it's resolution (although there will still be some kind of quality drop off).

Just frickin' awesome. After having the Note this "cheap" plastic feels luxurious

Got mine today. Coming from an LG Optimus G. Here's a few thoughts.
1. I really like the keyboard. But since I've been a swiftkey user for a long time that's no surprise.
2. Screen is very good. Wish it was a little brighter when using auto brightness, but it is very good nonetheless.
3. Maybe I'm just not that picky, but I don't notice any lag. At least not anything bad enough to complain about.
4. Seems to charge pretty fast with the included 2 amp charger.
5. It might be plastic, but I can tell you I like the light weight and the feel in my hand better than my LG Optimus G...
6. I thought the 'swapped' menu and back buttons would bother me. But to be honest, I kind of like it better...

I have a few questions,
1. Does the speaker have 'stereo sound' like the HTC one? Can you hear the base? What about hooking up to the headphone? Does it sound better than S3?
2. Anyone here uses Allshare cast? I have a Samsung LED Smart TV that I stream movies directly from my phone to the TV with a touch of a button on the S3. It does have occasional lags, however. Does the S4 do the same?
3. Does the S4 have the same amount of ringtones like the S3?

I actually really like the button setup. When I got my first smartphone like three years ago, it was a Blackberry, and it had a similar button arrangement. It went [PHONE][MENU][HOME/SELECT][BACK][END CALL]. My current Galaxy S2 is [MENU][HOME][BACK][SEARCH]. So the S4 will be the same as I am used to, and I will appreciate not having to get used to a new setup.

two issues.
1)wifi keeps on disconnecting... very annoying
i have another device on the same wifi, but it's not disconnecting at all.
2) RAM. even if i clear everything, i'm at 1.2GB ish.. i always notice the homescreen widgets refreshing themselves due to low RAM.
anyone else?

I honestly dont feel a need to root with the One S4 I can see being pretty much the same. Too me stock is way more boring =/

This is the best Android phone I've ever used.

Yeah, it's pretty close to the best Android phone I've ever used. It is the full package: battery life, performance, camera, software. Only problem I'm finding is that after a week of use, I'm running into bugs with the camera, Bluetooth, and calls. I'm sure these will be fixed in an upcoming software update.

Best phone I've owned. I just enjoy picking it up and using it.

IMO its a 9 out of 10. Camera has been great for me, battery life fits my daily usage perfectly (never been in power saving mode) and I only charge over night. Bright screen with no color issues to my eyes, fast performance with all the apps and games I use.
Most of my problems are simply due to me not adjusting to the placement of things on the phone yet. I have a tendency to power the phone off when trying to adjust the volume, and lowering the volume when playing certain games.
The only true "issue" I am having is the phone has powered off and rebooted on me 3 times since I got it. I don't know if it is going to be an issue, but it is annoying when it happens in the middle of a task I am trying to complete.

I consider it more of a desktop phone. I now really use it for so much more than a phone. And the battery life over my Nexus 5 is not even comparable.

Easily the best phone I've ever used. A week in and not a single issue yet.

Fantastic phone. My first Stock Android experience. I actually like it as-is (coming from a Note II with Nova Launcher).

Nexus 6p owner coming from Nexus 5, Nexus 4, Galaxy Nexus, yadeya...
The good:
Hardware: Really nice, premium build. If I'm being honest, I find it a touch slippy in the hand and I'm quite worried about dropping the damn thing, but I'm hoping a case will make this better...once it arrives!
Performance: Excellent. Zero lag, zero slow down.
Battery: Coming from the Nexus 5, it's really good. This was actually my primary reason for buying this over the Nexus 5x - bigger phone == more room for battery, and so far this shows. Today has been a light-use day, to be fair, but still sat at 76% at 8pm is just awesome. My Nexus 5 wouldn't do that well even if I didn't use it all day...in flight mode...switched off. Exceptionally happy here.
Stability: Have had the phone for 7 days, uptime: 7 days. Nuff said.
Camera: Too early to say, but I don't think it's quite as great as everyone says it is. There's still no way in the app to do manual control (e.g. shutter priority for capturing pictures of fast moving objects) so the results still look, well, like they've been taken with a phone. That's not to say it's bad - it's certainly better than the Nexus 5, which was leagues better than the Nexus 4 - it's just...average. Give us some manual control, Google! Lens Blur still takes great shots and it's very responsive, so I would give it a B at the moment, with scope for more in future.
The only elephant in the room is the size. OK, so this isn't the phone's fault and I knew what I was getting, but don't kid yourself that it's anything other than a big phone. I picked up my old N5 the other day and, frankly, it still feels the "right" size for a phone. Oh well, I guess we'll have to see how things go here...

So nice, I unbound it twice
I ordered the phone yesterday and got it about 3pm today. I set it up, played with it for about an hour and thought " this isn't so special". I threw it back in the box and decided I wasn't decided on keeping it. I left it at my mom's house, went home and played around on my Note 5 for 10 mins and ran back to the Nexus.
The title was supposed to say unboxed not unbound

Easily the best Android phone I've ever used. The combination of battery life, performance, screen quality, build quality, Camera, quick charge, Verizon compatibility, stock Android, hackability, Marshmallow features, speakers, quick fingerprint sensor, first-to-get-updates and just a general smooth experience, make this phone a TOTAL WIN.
Only wish it had SD card expansion! That's like the only thing, to me, it's missing.
I am REALLY LOVING this phone experience! It's FANTASTIC. Instant recommendation to friends.

Loved my nexus 5 but the 6p is sublime
Loved my nexus 5, but the 6p is awesome, just got to resist the urge to unlock and flash !

I've been with the Nexus line since the Nexus S and only strayed once last year buying a Moto X 2014. A week later I returned it and got the Nexus 6 instead. The 6P is the Heir Apparent of the Nexus project. I love it.
It took me three tries to get here though. #1 a few cosmetic defects out of the box. #2 perfect but then i bought the folio case and it got stuck on the phone. #3 perfect again. Happy camper...

One or two teething problems but the best phone I have ever had, great to have an all aluminium phone too instead of Samsung plastic. 10/10

I'm actually coming from the Nexus 6 and had no real intentions to upgrade, but..things. It sort of feels small to me, which is odd to say. It doesn't have any downsides that I can see yet, outside of me having to buy a couple extra cords for work, etc. On the other hand you don't need to charge it much. It has the best panel I've ever owned, a factor which actually had me thinking about buying a Note 5 earlier before I remembered I was on Verizon and used Touchwiz before. Somehow they got a comparable screen on a Nexus phone which I consider to be no small thing. Great phone, well done Google.

in love with the phone. very happy with the purchase and it has everything I need. Now all i need to do is find a wife and I am set.

First Impressions: New V10 coming from Nexus 6 (VZW)

My first thoughts after having V10 for couple of hours (most in comparison to Nexus 6, but not all). I didn't need a new phone, but just get bored after a while and upgrade fairly often:
- I like the feel, width is nice and feels noticeably smaller in hand. Don't notice the extra few grams weight and feels balanced in my hand. Like the grippy feel and will probably go without case a while because of "durability". That in itself will make all the difference in size anyway as I used an Incipio case on N6. Not as much to protect it, but I like to set my phone on center console of F150 as I drive, and need a grippy back to keep it from sliding off when stopping/accelerating quickly...V10 fits that need without case and N6 had too slick of a back. The above size comparison is done without case on N6 though.
- Screen not as bright as N6 at comparable settings (40%) sitting in my office. Gonna have to see about that one as I don't want to sacrifice battery too much to get brightness level I like. I really like how the screen looks though. I get around the big icon thing by using Apex so no that's not even an issue.
- Phone is every bit as much, if not more snappy than N6, which is rooted on Marshmallow using beans Pure nexus rom. That gave me great battery life, soo I will update my battery life after a couple of days with this phone.
- Call quality is amazing compared to N6. Not sure if HD/call over VoLTE is reason why or not...I had it disabled on N6 because I couldn't get good call quality in my office due to tower location. Which leads me to this, V10 has much better 4G/LTE signal on VZW than my N6, at least sitting in my office where I was on fringe before, with data and calls hit or miss. Sucky thing about N6 was it would get just enough signal to not switch to 3G, will be interesting to see how that works on V10.
- Plugging in the phone gives me a "fast-charging" notification but doesn't seem to charge as fast as N6, by a decent margin...will have to do a real time comparison to be sure.
- Double tap to wake is faster on V10.
- 2nd screen seems useful to me, either for contacts or favorite apps, as I like to keep my home screen clutter at a minimum. Will see which one makes the grade permanently, hopefully no butt-dialing.
- Camera is pretty nice but I'm not much of a photo buff, but few I have taken around office and outside this afternoon look pretty darn nice.
- Speaker is louder than my N6 for incoming ring tones but kind of tinny. Haven't played music or used speaker phone yet.
- Overall, I like the phone a lot after playing around for a couple of hours, but will be doing a lot more fiddling over the next few days and hope to update this post accordingly.

The LG v10 like the LG G4, disables quick charge when you have the main screen on. Speculation is to save the battery from the added heat lowering it's life expectancy.
The v10 charges slightly faster (2800mA) than the G4 (2200mA) in quick charge mode, and slightly slower than the Moto Nexus 6 (3200mA) in my experiences.
EDIT: Below I included screenshots today while charging using a Tronsmart car charger. 2840mA screen off, 980mA and dropping while screen on.

I use my Samsung adaptive quick charger because it charges noticeably faster than the provided LG quick charger.

I came from the N6. That being said, I have come from a long line of Nexus phones, since the N4, actually. But since this isn't offered through the carriers, I figured I'd try something new. Loving it. Google is offering many way to give a stock experience these days. The launcher and most apps through the play store I mean.

I too came from the n6 to the v10 and I have say that v10 is easier to see in the sun without having to turn brightness all the way up.:good:

I guess many of us were getting bored off our Nexus 6's bc I too am a convert to the V10. Most of the pros of the LG V10 were cons of the Nexus 6 and the only thing I miss so far was the dual front facing speakers.
I had an HTC One M7 before the Nexus 6 and I loved that phone. The V10 is winning me over similarly as well. Stock Android is overrated if the manufacturer gets it mostly right and packs in this many features.

Nexus 5X to Pixel experiences!

I’m sure many 5X users will upgrade to the new Pixel with similar size.
So I’d to know the differences you have experienced upgrading from a 5X to the Pixel (not the XL because It has different resolution and battery) and I’d like to hear from users who upgraded from the 5X to the Pixel.
This will help me and a lot of people that'd like to upgrade to the Pixel.
I’m interested in these 4 aspects (always vs the 5X), you can talk about other things obviously. I’m adding some descriptions explaining each them.
1- Battery (I don’t care about your SoT or standby time, that’s a bit useless to know. What I care about is the difference (%) in battery between your old 5X and your new Pixel (SoT is OK if we are comparing your “personal old SoT” with the 5X and your personal new SoT with the Pixel under the same circumstances, usage).
2- Comfort when is used with only 1 hand (this is one of the most important things I’d like to know about. Because you can’t know this just reading the specifications or reviews. I own a Nexus 5X Black and I use it naked, the Black 5X has some grip in the back cover, and with that grip I have a good “one-handed” experience. (In the contrast, I had an Xperia Z5 4.6” Compact for 6 months and I had to put a case on it because it was very slippery compared to the Nexus 5 2013 black and the 5X 2013 black). I’m more interested in the difference between the Black 5X and the Pixel here.
3- Performance (Does it throttle less or more? Does it has less animations stutters?. The RAM is the big thing here, no more need to reload apps many times during the day)
4- Camera (I understand that picture quality is similar, but I read that the speed and experience of the new camera is in another league. However, if you’ve found a much better picture quality it would be nice to know it too!).

Battery - Anything has to be better than the 5X. 5x on Nougat was very poor on battery.
Performance - Anything has to be better than the 5x. 5x on Nougat was the laggiest phone I ever used. It's only been a day with the new pixel but it's very zippy and fluid.
Camera - there are hundreds of camera reviews and shootouts online for the pixel, just go to youtube. General consensus is that it's right up there with the best cameras, if not a tiny bit better than them all.
Ease of use - the 5x wins this one. The Pixel is thinner on the sides, and is much slipperier.
I was seriously regretting the 5X after years of great Samsung phones, but got it only so I could move to Project Fi, which I love. I also had a nexus 5 two years ago and loved that phone. I thought the 5x was a poor successor.
I am hoping the Pixel turns out to be a great phone overall.

Battery - Hard to say so far, I charge too often, but the battery life seems better than the N5X by quite a bit, currently looking at the graph after some fairly on and off usage browsing youtube and sending videos to my TV it's barely lost 25% over 10 hours, and it claims it will last another day and an hour. (Standby, mixed with SOT?)
One hand - Infinitely better in this department, I wanted a 5" phone from the start and settled for the 5x, it made me sad.
Performance - I didn't expect it to be severe, but it is. The Nexus 5X is a steaming pile of ... well a horrible mess. The Pixel is fluid, the animations can be shortened for instant back and forth between apps, and nothing unloads!
Camera - I don't get the big deal, but it's a pretty good camera I guess. The stabilisation in video is kinda weird because it produces a really unrealistic kind of jerkiness.

Just wanted to chime in on the camera. A few reviewers already said that it's not really "the best" but "up there with them. That said, a few of the reviewers still chose samsung's over the Pixel. Battery is slightly better so far, from what I could remember with the 5X. im at 32min SOT with 90% left.

I'd like to know about something else..."Compass" difference between 5X and Pixel. Is the Compass now always working without need to re-calibrate it every day or at some random places?
I'm talking about this issue and other that are similar (north accuracy, etc).

1. Battery life seems good. I'm a heavy user though so I keep chargers nearby but the quick charge is nice. It's fast like the 5X.
2. I came from a 5X with a TPU case. I don't like to leave my phones unprotected from drops (it happens). The Pixel feels slippery in my hands but my hands are naturally dry so I have a case on it.
3. Performance is fluid. I had changed my 5X to 0.5x in the developer settings and the Pixel is at 1x so I changed those to 0.5x. But the 4gb of ram makes a difference. I noticed my apps would reload on the 5X. I can't even remember if apps have reloaded on the Pixel when task switching. Scrolling is definitely smoother.
4. Speed is excellent. Haven't noticed any issues other than the occasional flare.

I'll put in my 2 cents here too.
Battery: Good, not great. Unfortunately for me I had the 6p for about a week when they first came out but hated the size. However, the battery on it was just amazing. 5X not so much. And it degraded rather quickly to the point I had to almost keep it plugged in during the day. The battery on the Pixel is much better. I've tried not to plug in at all during my 15 day trial period to see if it warrants the cost. I end up about 20 - 30 % at the end of the day with normal use. I even used Strava for a couple of hours the other day and still ended the day ok. Tomorrow I'll use the Strava/GPS for at least 3 hours so I'll see how that does. All in all, satisfied. I do believe after I get over the obsession with looking at the battery I'll do a quick charge during the day so I don't have to pay attention to it.
Comfort: Love it! I "inherited" an iPhone 6 from my son and once I held it I was amazed at how well it felt and handled. Then this came and it's almost exactly the same. Great design. The black 5x I still have and actually ordered a Fi data sim for it. I used it on wifi this morning and it felt big now. Thicker and heavier. That being said, the Pixel is slippery and I'm being overly cautious for now. I did put on a screen glass protector which I like because I like to clean it after the dirty gym germs get all over it. But it is slippery and I'll have to get used to it. I refuse to case it and kill the design although for this price I can understand doing so.
Performance is unmatched, I can't say much more than that. Display is absolutely incredible and quick as a bug in opening apps and switching between them. You will not be disappointed on that front.
Camera I'm not much of a picture taker. I should probably start, I might like it. Bottom line, even though it's hard to justify the cost I will keep it. I'll keep the 5x as a backup in case some disaster hits and with the data sim perhaps use it for gps and navigation in the car since I do not have a car charger. Takeaway.. you'll love it if you can afford it.

Switch from Pixel 2 XL

Hey guys I'm thinking of switching from the Pixel 2 XL to the OnePlus 6.
Some of the reasons I'm thinking of switching is that I miss having the headphone jack. It's gotten quite annoying not having it. I don't take many pictures, so I'm not too concerned with the camera downgrade. Price is definitely a big deal. I can sell my Pixel on Swappa and essentially break even. If I wait til the Pixel 3 and trade mine in, I still have to come up with 300-400 to upgrade. If I switch the the OnePlus 6, I'm getting the latest specs, extra RAM at pretty much no cost.
What do you guys think? Wanna help me decide?

I came from the HTC U Ultra, and for me atleast the One Plus turned out to be a really good investment. I also switched in part to the Headphone jack, and extra RAM. I do like he the phone so far, and found the camera to be on par with my HTC phone if not a bit better. The only complaint I have is I find the speaker , and vibration quite weak as compared to my HTC. In the end, the specs are quite good for the price

I've been a 2XL owner since January and I just bought the 6.
The 6 has a much worse vibration motor than the 2XL; to me at least, it is a huge difference and I really dislike the feel of the motor on the 6.
Colours/screen however, looks better to me on the 6, despite having a lower resolution - colours are more vibrant and no screen issues that many users report on the 2XL.
Performance is better on the 6 and that is a bit obvious I know, but I was shocked at the difference - it's actually noticable! Apps launch insanely fast while the 2XL is still stuck on that same app's splash screen.
The camera is not great at all in my opinion (on the 6). I could even go as far as saying it's slightly below average. Maybe it's because the Pixel's camera has spoiled me. You mentioned this isn't an important thing to you so you should be fine in this department.
I have all Bluetooth accessories, including headphones, so a headphone jack isn't necessary for me, but for your needs, it seems like another plus! (No pun intended lol).
Not sure if custom development (ROMs, kernels, etc.) are important, but OnePlus should have a lot more of that than the Pixels.
And finally, the biggest "feature" is the price - OnePlus is the clear winner here as well (especially for what you get in return).

I'm using pixel 2 XL as my primary phone and this device as my secondary phone.
I'll never keep one plus 6 as my primary device cos I'm into photography. The only reason I have this for dash charging and dual SIM. Also I'm a digital nomad and I carry multiple devices. I retired my LG G4 which was an excellent shooter and was my back up device, now that's been replaced with one plus 6.
The extra specs and Ram doesn't really scream performance when you pit it against pixel 2 XL. One plus reduces all the animations to make the device faster but it doesn't have a very noticeable performance than my pixel.
I'm not bothered with the notch.
If you have the budget do both and you'll be happy. Else get this device and play around with both and sell what you think doesn't work for you.
My pixel is very dear to me so I would never think of replacing it with any other device. Also with one plus you lose the water proof thinge!!

I can see how the speaker and vibration could be bothersome. I love my Pixel 2 XL speakers, but I don't get to use them much because I'm at work or out a lot, and headphones would definitely come in handy. I have some Bluetooth headphones, but I have a lot more regular headphones that I have in my backpack, laying around at work, etc. It definitely seems worth the price!

It definitely helps! I've seen plenty of reviews where the reviewers say that the Pixel is faster. I'm not saying mine is slow, but it definitely hangs on some apps and I just have a hard time believing that the newest processor plus more ram isn't going to be faster than last years with less ram.
You've made great points, I hadn't thought about the screen. I definitely could see how the OnePlus 6 has a better screen! Thanks for your input, it's definitely been helpful

I love my Pixel, and I think I'll want the Pixel 3 when it comes out. But price wise for now, it's either sticking with the Pixel 2 XL or going to the OnePlus 6 for a wash. But I hadn't thought using both to see which I like better. I guess I could always return it within the 15 days if I don't like it right?

I sold my 2 XL a couple of weeks ago in anticipation of the OnePlus 6. I loved my 2 XL but personally found it just slightly too tall and I just couldn't get used to the screen. Even with "Boosted" and "Saturated" color calibrations the 2 XL screen paled in comparison with my wife's Galaxy S9 and my iPhone X (for work).
As for the camera, the 2 XL notably outshines the iPhone X in almost all conditions. Surprisingly, the pictures from my OnePlus 6 really are not that far off from my 2 XL. The OP6 still outperforms the iPhone X camera with much more clear and color accurate photos.
I loved my 2 XL, overall. But the iPhone X really showed me what a well designed bezel-less phone should be. The OP6 is Android's best alternative to that, IMO. The notch never bothered me on my iPhone and it doesn't bother me on my OP6. I'd make the same switch again in a heartbeat. And the best part is that I sold my 2 XL on Swappa for $710. This allowed me to pickup the OP6 (8GB / 128GB), the Nylon Bumper Case + screen protector and still pocket nearly $100.

I have both and agree with everything you've said. My biggest disappointment with the OnePlus 6 is the speaker. It's awful. I don't know if I'm going to keep the OnePlus 6. It is substantially faster than the Pixel.

Switch. I had the 2 XL, S9+, 5T before this. Camera is good but nowhere near the Pixel (neither are the S9+ or 5T), but if that's not your primary focus you'll be happy with the 6 until the Pixel 3 comes out. You'll probably have better resell value than your 2 XL too.

I am so torn. I have both phones and have about another week to decide if I'm keeping the OnePlus 6. Even though I have cases on both I just saw this guy who did a drop test and completely shattered the OP6.
Sound on Pixel 2 much better. Speed on OnePlus better.

People are down playing how bad the camera is. It's 2x worst vs most of phones listed above. Software hopefully will help it.
Speaker is not great for occasional usage. Few things missing in software.
Luckily OnePlus holds there value. especially next few weeks plus 15 return window to try out.
Phone is very fast and ultimately stock Android. Haven't had any issues with day to day usage. Think it's a decent upgrade till the pixel 3 comes out.

Don't choose the OP6 over the 2XL. It's a big downgrade, from the camera to the screen resolution to the terrible speaker to the vibration motor.

I love the screen, the speed is unmatched, and the form factor is more pleasant to hold. Also a big fan of the nav system in Oxygen OS.

I disagree that it's 2x worst most phones. It's not even 2x worse than most flagships. I've seen several pics where it outshines the iPhone x or s9. The problem, in my eyes, is consistency. I'll take 4 pics and get 4 different results. 3 of them will be over-sharpened so much there is noticeable halos if you zoom in, etc. But it *can* take good pics, which leads me to believe with software (or Gcam!!!), we'll be money.
Also, the video is above average for sure. Once they get the focus hunting dealt with that is.

I completely agree with you about the speed and form factor. My biggest hesitation is the speaker and volume.
I've heard conflicting things about whether it can be improved with a software patch or if we're stuck with a hardware problem.

I don't use the phone as a loud speaker, I have Google home devices as well as Bluetooth speakers. That said it's plenty loud enough for me to play games or watch videos.
