If i was in the market for a new phone should I buy Pixel before U11. I have the U11 today.

the only thing for you to go to the pixel over the U11 is if you want 100 percent stock android look other than that in my opinion the 6gb/128 U11 is better

What you mean??

I have the U11. I'm waiting for the U11 plus to come out before I decide what I'm upgrading to this Fall.

Me too waiting for plus or mate 10

don't like the fingerprint sensor in the back, but it's personal preference. I like to unlock phone when it's sitting on a desk.
And is the Pixel camera better or is it just the software? I see that U11's camera has a larger aperture 1/1.7 vs Pixel's 1/1.8. Don't know about the sensor pixel size...
The squeeze feature on the Pixel can only launch the Google Assistant? I like it on U11 to launch the camera, quickest way to do so.

yup, U11 looks much more pretty and I think 4GB ram for this price is real over priced so U11 6GB is probably still the best option. Plus I got dual sim and microSD on U11 which is also important to me.
It looks like pixel 2 only used the same rear camera sensor with U11 now with an improved HDR+ algorithm and software only. U11 Plus 18:9 6" screen will be coming out at Nov/Dec and I believe we will get some updates on camera later.

What made me decided to pick U11 over Pixel1 bcoz I dislike the over saturation color from google and it looks like the same color reproduction found on Pixel 2. For me the color is much more accurate from U11 and I hate the yellow coast everywhere from Pixel1/2.

4GB of RAM is enough IMO... I certainly haven't been able to slow down my U11 w/ 4GB of RAM and I imagine that stock Android has a much smaller footprint than Sense does. The Pixel has a bigger battery and the lack of a SD card doesn't bother me either. I have already pre-ordered the XL and I think my time supporting HTC is over. Unless they can really turn things around, I don't see them garnering any more support from me. There's just much more support on the Pixel side of things and HTC's support, especially when it comes to things like accessories, has been dying for some time. It's been great and I do love my U11, but I just want less hassle and HTC seems to be the red-headed stepchild among the others.

HTC U11 or Oneplus 5T

Hi awesome XDA community, not sure which one to order, £350 for the U11 or £450 for the Oneplus 5T, one of the main points is the camera, I've heard wonders about this camera in low light, which is what I'll use it the most, for this Christmas pictures... I know there is a big price difference, but I'm not taking that into account, just wondering if you guys had the chance today to order one of these two, which one would you guys order and why.
Can't wait to read your opinions, thanks everyone =D
U11. The 5T camera just isn't fantastic.

And the screen is awful
Well I think that's a no brainer. The only thing that U11 lacks is the 18:9 screen but for a 100 less there is no competition. U11 beats OP5T camera in low light situation by a mile and that's the main feature you will be using.
If you were considering the Oneplus 5T as an alternative, consider also the ZTE Axon 7. But as others have said, the U11's camera will blow both phones out of the water with its low light superiority.
If you care about the system experience, do not use OnePlus. Because it will certainly disappoint you, such as the recent exposure of their fake 8.0 system (actually 7.1).

PS: Chinese content you may not read it, but as a Chinese I hate their practice.
Just had the same decision to make myself, and went with the U11 for it's camera. I've had Oneplus phones in the past and the cameras are never as good as the hype. Definitely not disappointed so far!
the 1080p pentile screen just killed the 5t. (66% of true 1080p resolution on a 6' screen)
I've actually had both and they are both amazing phones.
I've stuck with the U11 because the camera is better and battery life is I a big step up as well.
The OP5 is a bit thinner and OLED screen is nice to have.
guys, any news on the "horizontal lines" that appear on the u11 display? is it widespread like lg g4`s bootloop? I want to buy this phone but I`m honestly afraid of stumbling on this issue.

Food for thought, or perspective...the mere fact that this thread has less than 10 posts can tell you it's pretty specific for a few devices. I wouldn't worry about it.
Edit: I didn't realize that this wasn't the horizontal lines thread. Either way, I wouldn't worry about it. It isn't a widespread problem either way.

No white lines here. My phone is perfect.
Thanks everyone for the replies and read till the end so I went with the Mate 10, got it at a unbelievable price of £350 on eBay, in very good condition, so got it for the Xmas period and I must say, very impressed with the Mate 10, great camera, screen and battery, impressive headphone jack output quality too, but still the thought of the U11 still hangs, so I sold my Mate 10 yesterday and I have the U11 on the way now, it will take about a week to get it, but I'm sure it will be worth it =) I'll give my impressions on the camera compared to the Mate 10, when I get it.
Thanks again everyone and have happy new year.
For what it's worth, I constantly am switching between phones and always keep two on me. It's not the 5t, but the two I've been stuck on for a while are the OnePlus 5 and U11. The U11 is my main device and has survived all others that could have potentially taken its place. Among others, S8+, Pixel 2 XL, Mate 9 & Mate 9 Pro, Xiaomi Mi Mix 2. The one I miss the most honestly is the Mate 9. Anyways, I'd imagine if the two best devices out in my mind are the 5 & U11, then surely it would now be the 5t & U11. You really can't go wrong with either, but the U11 for me is unmatched. The Mate 10 has been in my sights ever since letting the Mate 9 go, can't wait to try it as well. Hell of a find on eBay btw...lol.
Its no contest. U11 wins hands down.
Ask on HTC section - answer: get U11
Ask on Oneplus section of forum; get Oneplus 5T
I don't have 5T but I'm heavily thinking about buying one.
What I suggest you? It depends, which device you had before?
Before U11 I was using Oneplus 3, well I still have.
And I don't feel like big upgrade expect camera.
So, few my thoughts:
Right after using U11 for week:
- yes camera is much better, 3D audio and audio focus while recording video is great and very useful.
-same screen size but U11 is bigger: wider and more thick - less comfortable in hand.
- screen does have better dynamic range, showing more in shadows, much sharper. But it's not as bright as on Oneplus or 5T.
- Audio quality on headphones with this dongle is much better than on smartphones without special audio features (features mean additional DAC/AMP like in LG V30)
- Performance is very good but don't see upgrade over my Oneplus 3 which is still one of the fastest devices, maybe animations are smoother and Facebook app start little faster.
- Edge sense is more useful than I thought. For example, short squeeze slide down notifications (I don't need to reach top of screen). Long squeeze to turn ON flashlight, even if screen is off - well quickest way and very handy.
Now few annoying quirks:
- I don't understand why fingerprint scanner is so small. I often miss click trying go back to home screen. It's not as fast as on Oneplus devices.
- You can't skip/minimize incoming call while you using phone, home button doesn't work. What the hell? Is this a Nokia 3310?
- you need to set automatic battery saving for minimum (5%) or turn this completely off because it will blink in your face (ye it's annoying on night), even when you are using phone.
- if you want to root, change ROMs etc. It's much more complicated and you will lose warranty.
IMO Don't buy U11 4GB version if you are heavy user. I'm using 6GB version and it's great like one my Oneplus but, 4GB for heavy multitasking it's not enough nowadays.

HTC U11 is IP67 water and dust resistant while 5T has none. U11 has a QuadHD screen while 5T does only with the lower 1080p.
U11 has a microSD expansion slot which 5T does not have.
Ye, Oneplus doesn't have micro SD. But still have plant of storage:, 64 and 128GB version. More Important it's same over world. HTC have strange fragmentation, single sim, dual sim, dual sim with 6/128 GB in few regions. Many software versions depends on CID its very confusing for someone who didn't had HTC device before (I mean whole thing if you want root or custom ROM: CID, MID, ruu, unlocking bootloader void warranty, S-off)
About waterproof:
Did you read HTC warranty statement? I would be worried to use it inside pool or shower.
"
Normal wear and tear may decrease the water and dust resistance over time.

OnePlus is known to not respect your privacy. I'm fine with OEM's collecting data, given they make the practice known and give users the option to opt out.

Ive owned both 5T and changed it for the U11.... Awesome speakers, much better display on U11... AMOLed is too saturated.. Camera is Much better on U11.... except the noise on images thats cropped up since the September camera app update.. Hmmm... but it is 100x better camera than the 5T...
However, 5T is better for Headphone Jack and more modern UI... the U11 Sense UI is looking very dated... some aspects from the M8 are still here... but on the whole.. the U11 is fast, practical and very reliable..

HTC U11+ or Google pixel 2?

Has anyone tried both the google pixel 2 and HTC U11+? What are your experiences and opinions? Which one performs better, in terms of overall performance and quality?
also, in terms of camera, if i will download the google hdr+ camera on the HTC u11+, will it be at par with the google pixel 2?
here in my country, In terms of price, HTC U11+ seems to be the more worthy phone. (HTC U11+ 128gb is just around $20 cheaper than the google pixel 2 64gb variant)
BUT i don't have much information about it and i am afraid that i might regret not getting the pixel 2 instead.
I am so confused on which one i should buy and i assume both of them seems to be a very great phone.
PS: if there are any similar post as this, please feel free to put it here. I can't seem to find any similar post/answers in the search bar.
Thanks in advance for your answers. cheers!
If you're into custom rom and more updates and fast updates and amoled go for pixel 2 ,

If I were you I would definetly go for HTC U11+, the phone looks great performs really good and then again from the price point of view (not that big of a deal though)
Just in case if you are planning to get a HTC U11+, get the silver one it looks amazing. I got one and its freaking amazing.
I just bought the transparant one and sold my Pixel 2 XL
I was hesitating at some point between the pixel 2 xl and htc u11+, and couldn’t see any big advantage over the u11+ other than the obvious camera and faster software updates.
I was able to handle the pixel 2 xl in Germany and the feel in the hand was kinda “meh”... when the u11+ feels quite premium. Obviously this is just a personal preference, but if you want to compare specs, the u11+ is indeed on top (mainly battery, ram and memory).

I have both the Pixel 2 XL and the U11+ in this moment.
I was originally going to buy the U11+, but I bought the Pixel 2 XL with a nice offer 2 weeks ago.
Yesterday I bought the U11+ because I'm not happy with the blue issue in the Pixel 2 XL screen.
Phones are similar in many ways, but for me having a blue tint is kind of annoying, so that's why I got the U11+ to test it and see if I like it.
I think that if you can overcome the blue tint issue, you can enjoy a nice phone with the Pixel 2 XL, but for me, each time I see the screen, it makes me sad.
I tried to RMA, but Google said they are not making replacements for blue tint, and I have only 2 more days to decide if I return it or I keep it. For the U11+ I have 2 weeks as probation period.
If you have any specific question, I would answer happily.
I switched pixel 2 XL to HTC and I don't regret it.
i needed a second play device and tested the Pixel 2XL for a few days. decided against the Pixel 2XL (even though it has all the features i was looking for) and tested the OP5T. i returned the OP5T after 2 days use because i was running short on space so i ordered the 4GB/64GB U11+ transparent black. i've had it for a week and it's a keeper for me; n0 storage space issues, great looks, premium feel and that battery! so far it's working well... my only gripe is not being able to use the Google Dialer; it installs fine, but the dialer component always FCs.
If you're still thinking about which Phone to get, this may help you out.
The Pixel 2XL is made by LG, but many suspect that the HTC U11+ was also candidate for being the Pixel 2XL however google decided to stick with LG.
There's some features that make the Pixel better and there's others that make the LG better.
Pro's XL2
- Camera software
- Software update
- Unlimited storage for photo's and videos in the cloud
- Stock ROM
Pro's U11+
- Good camera
- Large battery
- Edge sense
- IP68 water proof
Cons XL2
- Back material will change when put in pockets of denim jeans (overtime)
- blue screen
- burn ins
Cons U11+
- portrait mode
- HTC support (not always the fastest)
- Screen isn't as bright

How did you manager to install the Google Dialer ?, but it doesn't work ? Do you have the simgle SIM version of U11+ ?
I have the Dual SIM version and I can't even install the G Dialer, it gives an error in the installation screen.
I think I read somewhere that the G Dialer is incompatible with all Dual SIM phones, because Google never had a dual SIM one.

I will like to add a couple more:
Cons XL2
- Super slow charge
- Random Bluetooth issues
- Slow fingerprint scanner
- Random mail problems
- Mediocre signal
Pro's U11+
- Really nice audio
- Super nice speakers
- A lot of accessories included
About the screen of the U11+, is true that is not bright as many other flagships, but for me is not a problem because I don't like to have a super lamp in front of my eyes; I usually stick with medium brightness always, even on TV and monitor. With the Pixel 2 XL I had the screen at 35% with adaptive brightness and with the U11+ I have it at 50%. I tested yesterday in direct sunlight and I didn't have any issue looking at the screen.
I made some other tests, and overall, the 100% brightness of the U11+ is like ~80% brightness of the Pixel 2 Xl; I think this shouldn't be an issue because the U11+ screen also has HDR10 support, so is more than enough for most people, with the exception if you like really bright displays.

Ohh i wasn't aware of these issues just yet, good thing i didn't decide to go for the pixel in the end as it also was a 400 euro increase compared to the U11+.
The slow charging speed, was an issue related to the maximum voltage output i believe. I was under the impression that that was fixed in an update.
The screen brightness will be an issue once summer starts again, when walking or watching something outdoors it'll be annoying.

yes. for me too, i usually don't maxed out on super bright screen displays. i usually just set it to 30-50% unless i use it in direct sunlight as it usually strains my eyes when the screen is always too bright.

I have been 3 days with the U11+ by now and overall I think is a lot better value for money, but also it depends on your needs and tastes, because the Pixel 2 XL was its own nice features (mostly useless, but still nice), like the songs listening feature, the AR stickers in the camera, the live wallpapers and other than maybe are appealing to you.
If the screen in the Pixel 2 Xl was as good as the one in the U11+, it would be an easier choice, but for that money and receiving sub-par quality screen, is kind of lame.
I put yesterday side by side the phones to compare the screen and I was amazed with U11+ screen. It has perfect calibration and smooth colors. The Pixel 2 XL, even with the blue tint, looked yellowish in white.
I'm quite happy with the phone overall, and I think is a really nice buy, but if your heart is with the Pixel, even with its flaws, go with the Pixel. The important is to be happy with any decision you make.

First, my dual sim u11+ is rooted so I flashed the Google framework.zip from another thread and the Google Dialer installed with no problem. The problem I have is with the dialer component; it will FC when I attempt to dial numbers. The in-call UI feature (appears after initiating a call) works just fine.
I'm not sure about the Google dialer not working with a dual SIM phone, I was able to install the Google dialer on the OnePlus 5T and it worked with no issue.

I've had them both but kept the pixel 2 (the small one). My u11+ was on the October security patch until January 16, after which it was updated to the December patch and who knows for how many months it will stay at that version. I have the impression that HTC will soon forget about this phone so I decided to sell it.

My u11+ was on the October security patch until January 16, after which it was updated to the December patch and who knows for how many months it will stay at that version. I have the impression that HTC will soon forget about this phone so I decided to sell it.

I don't think so, and more over than Google and HTC are working really closely right now with the Pixel line and also sharing a lot of patents and other things. Maybe you won't have the monthly updates, but at least every 2-3 months and also HTC is known because it updates its phones at least 2 years.
Maybe I'm wrong, but only time will tell.

Indeed, time will tell. Don't get me wrong, the U11+ is a nice phone and a good value compared to a Pixel 2 XL. What bothered me most of all about the U11+ now I think about it, is how incredibly slippery the glass back is. To me the phone was an accident waiting to happen. It looks amazing, but I prefer a less slippery phone since I dislike using a case.
BTW from a performance perspective, after the January update I got the impression the U11+ was even smoother than before. I couldn't really tell a difference between it and my pixel 2, and I consider myself very sensitive to those differences.

Should I swap the P20 Pro for Pixel 2 XL?

Hi guys,
I've had the phone for a couple of days. What bothers me are the fact that as a latest fragship, it cheaps out on bluetooth chip(4.2). Other devices like pixel 2 from last year already start using 5.0. Not that I really need the bluetooth 5.0. I just don't like being cheaped out to. Also no gorilla glass? I'd admit these are very minor "issues". Maybe I'm a bit of a brand whore. I just can't seem to enjoy looking at the ugly logo of the brand inside and out. The phone is from a contract with the carrier and therefore my choices are limited to what they have at this time. LG 7, V30, Pixel 2 XL to name a few. I'm not interested in anything with storage space less than 128GB (I don't like using sd cards, sorry but I think they are inferior), which brings me down pretty much to Pixel 2 XL. Now I notice there are people here who are coming from Pixel 2 to P20 Pro. I'd really like to hear their thought on comparing these two phones from all aspects before making the decision. I'm also open to other suggestions. Would really appreciate the input!

I would suggest waiting for Pixel 3 which is due out in October/November as it would be pointless buying it now.
You have described that you require Bluetooth 5.0 (do you have any devices that specifically require it). Bluetooth 4.2 can still be pretty decent as it has low power consumption
P20 Pro does come with gorilla glass

I don't really need the added benefit of the Bluetooth 5.0. I just don't like the fact that they have cheaped out on this comparing samsung has started using 5.0 since s8 and lots of others. It doesn't offer any confidence in this phone when knowing this. Waiting for Pixel 3 is probably is a good idea. Thanks for the suggestion anyway.
The phone costs less though so you gotta expect some compromises.
Hell no, from my experience the XL2 runs fast BUT very unstable. Apps especially Google Map can quit while you're driving, or whole system can reboot anytime.
My answer is no, if you want to go down pixel line wait until 3 comes out.
I've owned the nexus range and the pixel xl and was going to get a pixel 2 xl, but they are overpriced for what they are (just like apple) and they are full of bugs just like the XL
Pixel line of phones have long lost there edge compared to the Nexus line.
One plus in my opinion make the best "stock" android phones. Anyway back onto topic.
Gorilla glass Vs the tempered glass on the p20 Pro. Both scartch at a level 6 on the Moe's scale of hardness. So I wouldn't be to concerned
Bluetooth 4.2 Vs 5 can't really see much of a argument in a real life setting to why anyone would need 5 compared to 4.2.
If you can't get a one plus 6 and you have to make the choice like now then it feels your online option is the pixel.
There is no way I'd swap my phone for the px2
Or the XL.
The 3 ? Maybe but I'd have to see it

am personally let go my pixel 2 xl after having p20 pro.
camera is more versatile. smoothness is comparable. screen color is better for doing graphic works (at least IMO), and this one might surprise you, my apps crash less on this phone than on my pixel 2 xl, and 6GB of ram wont hurt either (disable zRAM to feel the true smoothness of this phone)
now am using p20 pro as main driver and redmi note 5 Ai as secondary phone. saving 400++ bucks by doing so. cant be happier
If I could go back in time, I would keep my Pixel 2 XL. That is not without issues though.
On the Pixel 2 XL, Touchscreen is a bit iffy. Battery life is worse (7 hours SOT over a day as opposed to 9 on the Huawei). Display is a little dark, not enough brightness in sunshine. But, if I could go back, I would keep it.
The Pixel is smoother and faster in apps, scrolling is much quicker, graphics power on the Pixel 2 XL is better, the P20 is quite stuttery and laggy.
But I would stick with the P20 for now.
Pros of switching to Pixel 2 XL:
1. Faster, fluid and cleaner software stock android experience. I used Pixel 2 as a work phone and love the Google experience. People buy Pixel for software and camera
2. Faster update to Android P
3. Snapdragon 835 is faster than Kirin 970, especially GPU
4. Google's camera is much simpler than P20 Pro's
5. Pixel 2 has better Stereo speakers
6. Pixel 2 has Bluetooth 5
Reasons for sticking with P20 Pro:
1. P20 Pro has a much better screen to body ratio, more content on a smaller screen
2. P20 Pro's camera hardware is future proof; amazing night mode, the best in market; P20 Pro is basically a camera phone
3. P20 Pro has a bigger battery and well optimized, resulting in much better battery life
4. P20 Pro's face unlock is more convenient than Pixel 2's rear mounted fingerprint reader
5. Pixel 2 XL's screen quality is inferior to P20 Pro's, which has fantastic AMOLED display
6. P20 Pro is future proof because of 6 GB ram, although Pixel 2 XL works equally well with 4GB ram.
Long story short, P20 Pro has a better hardware, but poor software experience in my opinion. Pixel 2 XL's Google experience is a class of its own. Never got such a fluid experience on any phone ever (Not even on One plus series).
I hope it helps

Development hasn't been looking good so far, but i do hope we get some more going eventually. Also, yeah i hope stop EMUI gets improved as well.
If P2XL didn't have the issues with screen I would have probably got it as liked the Pixel XL, but I had the initial issues with the halo when taking photos, I couldn't automatically connect to Bluetooth devices and had to manually switch over. It never 6with wifi calling when switched network as that feature was locked to EE and it same on the Pixel 2.
I have a Huawei Watch and switching over phones lost my data as couldn't be backed up on Pixel phones and Google Fit is more than useless with not keeping GPS data and not showing correctly across devices. Apple, Fitbit, Sony and even Garmin apps better.
Even Huawei Health provides better data than Google Fit just shame it can only be backed up and restored on Huawei devices otherwise u lose all data.
I'm still debating which device to get next and may depend on Watch compatibility.

Thread from the dead: which phone should I keep?
So I found myself having my P2XL 128gb replaced by Google due to screen burn and a new (refurb) one arrives tomorrow.
In the meantime I had been rolling with a Huawei P20 Pro and it's not bad... Camera IS LOVELY and battery life amazing but I run Rootless Pixel Launcher as I can't stand whatever Huawei call their interface.
So, I can get £300 for my pixel 2 on popular recycling sites or £353 for the Huawei. My buy out on contract is £267.50 so either way I'm quids in.
Now, which one do I keep? It's worth noting my work phone is rolling a P3XL and, to some degree, I need to be in Android Beta Programmes (Q next?) as I'm a dev PM. The P3XL answers this need.
Heart says keep the pixel and flog the Huawei. Head says Huawei mobile the newer model (though not newer handset as, if you remember, just getting a replacement from The Big G).
The pixel FEELS better to me but, as this is my social phone, I'm more concerned with the camera than anything else. Does the P20 Pro triple camera make it worth getting rid of the P2XL? The snail pace of updates to the P20 annoys but thata just me wanting latest and greatest all the time.
Oh, decisions decisions. Either way ONE phone must go tomorrow in the post as I've locked in the prices for both with recyclers.
What would *you* do? Snapper or Pixel?

Do not get rid of the P2xl because of the triple camera on the P20 Pro. The pixel is still the better all round camera regardless, and with its own new night sight mode, it just got even better.
Keep the pixel
Is it though, Patchy? I took an awesome shot on holiday where you could see Saturn and the P20 picked it out.
Ugh. I'm so conflicted!

I have both phones. It comes to preference, but yeah I find the Pixel always takes nicer photos. Way more consistent. Your call man.
i traded my pixel 2 xl because i was bored with stock android and the ram management was crap . portrait mode was better on pixel 2 xl. But i love the p20 pro for when zooming in pics the pics are still amazingly sharp

Where to physically inspect the OnePlus 6 (USA)

Hello everyone,
I currently own a Nexus 5x running Project Fi. I am TIRED of the lagginess, no matter which kernel/custom ROM I have on the phone. I think the issues are thermal throttling, and I don't feel like going down the rabbit hole of trying to improve its cooling.
The OnePlus 6 has everything I want from a phone (full hd screen instead of stupid QHD screens that draw more battery and decrease performance, headphone jack, future proof 8Gb of RAM) but my only caveat is the increase in size. I really like the size of my Nexus 5x and before making the jump to the OP6 I'd like to physically hold it and see if it will work for me.
Is there any place in the US where you can check this phone out? (NYC if that makes a difference)
Thanks!

You could order a cheap thin case? I don't know of any stores that would carry it or have it on display.
There aren't any physical locations in the US right now. Best bet is to try and find someone that has one. OnePlus phones are becoming more and more common in the US.
There's 15 days to open a return request, and 14 to get it to them, prepaid overnight shipping, so close to 30 days to return it if you don't like it.
Source: returned mine with the reason I don't like the color but I bought it again lol

Try Pixel 2 XL at a Best Buy or Verizon or something. It's nearly identical in size.
OP6 - 155.7 x 75.4 x 7.8 mm
P2XL- 157.9 x 76.7 x 7.9 mm

Coming from a pixel 2xl, which OP should I buy?

So I see and read all the videos how disappointing the Pixel 4 series is. I'm thinking of getting a One Plus. I see that there are different varieties of the 7 series . On your suggestion please keep in mind thdt I do like My pixel 2xl size. For a big phone it's comfortable to hold and now too tall. I see that the 7 pro is very tall.
So I'm open to hear what you owners think. Also to stay with Verizon , is the One Plus website the only deal ? Lastly would you know what Google features I'd miss or not get
Thanks!

Hey man, I also used Pixel 2 XL since it was released. I was disappointed in leaks of 4 XL so I picked up 7 pro about 2 months ago. Size they are fairly similar in size, weight you definitely feel the weight difference with 7 pro bring heavier. Dimensions they are fairly close if you check. I definitely missed all the Google pixel features but a lot of roms have same experience plus more such as omnirom tresk mod. For the display alone is worth moving from Pixel 2 XL to 7 pro I think. Good luck man.
I've had pixels before, then I tried the OnePlus 7 Pro and have never looked back...
You will miss the Pixel quality camera. Works on Verizon really well. Best Android skin ever. Screen is great, speakers good. I have a 2XL and the 7pro. Android user for a long time. First time I can say in 15 yrs I have been looking at an iPhone. Google can't seem to get out of their own way. Pixel 4/4xl is just the latest example. Good luck.

Great info thanks!
1- What about buying?
2-I want to stay with my current line would I better off buying direct from One plus? They have the finance offer.
3- How is their launcher? customization ? At least equal to the Pixel Launcher or close to Nova?
4- What features did you miss from the Pixel?
Thanks
I came from the Pixel 2XL om Verizon network. I've had mine just a few days
1 - Bought mine direct from OnePlus. Guarantee it would work on Verizon network that way. Just make that phone call to switch to CDMA Less.
2 - I pay cash for all my phones. I did see financing on OnePlus site though.
3 - I used Nova Launcher on day one that I bought the Pixel 2, I also used it on the Nexus 6P before that. I'm currently using the Stock launcher on the Oneplus. I can honestly say that the Oneplus launcher feature rich and that I don't miss Nova at all. Probably the only reason I ever really used Nova is because of the stupid Google search bar on the Pixel 2 and 6P. You don't have that problem on Oneplus, You can remove it I would say its closer to Nova to answer your question.
4 - I think the only thing I'll miss is the free original quality uploads to Goggle Photos. The pixel 4 does have the original picture quality upload and no finger print sensor so those 2 things were the deal breaker for me for the price point they are asking for the Pixel 4XL with only 6 GB / 128 GB
I bought the 12 GB / 256 GB version. Gotta love those specs more that anything over the pixel series.
Hope this helps in your decision. Feel free to ask anything else.
Hey Jeff , nice write-up!
I thought that one of the beefs is that the p4 does not upload original photo quality for free.
How would I know if I should get the 7 or 7t?
Plus is it true that it comes with a screen protector out if the box.?
Thanks

1. i have the 7 / 7T & the 7T Pro, if you're into heavy gaming i'd suggest you pick up the the 7T Pro, if not, the 7 Pro performs really well on the 12GB ram version.
2. Yes, all of the OnePlus 7 devices come with a pre-installed screen protector & a silicon case inside.
If you have more questions, feel free to shoot them my way
Jeff,
What about warranty advice?
Also, do you think my pixel sim would work or do I ned to contact Verizon for a new sim?
Plus, the One Plus website doesn't offer the 12GB ram version yet, only Amazon. . I think I may go for the 8. I can't justify the price and as is I''m going from 4 to 8.
Thanks
I must say... If you rely on a good cam, the OP should be not your choice. Unfortunately.
But if not, everything speaks OP7pro. The screen is amazing, performance great. 90hz ftw!
And i don't think the 7t pro is necessary. Unless you game a lot.

Did anyone see my last couple questions-
Warranty advice
Can I take my pixel sim and plug it into the OP?
On buying I think I'd go with the 8GB. May this time around to enjoy a little money saving. I'm kind of tired buying super expensive phones. Plus I'd be going from 4 to 8GB.

What advice do you need regarding warranty ?
Yes you can use your sim on it
Since you're going for the 8GB ram one, If the difference between it and the 7T Pro is not sky high, take the 7T Pro.

I decided to swap my Pixel 2 xl on Oneplus 7 Pro 5g and it was serious mistake. Advantages of Oneplus 7 pro in compare to old one Pixel 2 xl are;
- ultra wide angle
- phone is a little more responsive but it's not really something which makes noticeable difference for me. I know that most nerds cannot prevent erection while talking about oneplus 7 performance but I don't share their experience at all
- fast charging is huge improvement especially in compare to Pixel 2XL
However the Pixel 2 XL also has a lot advantages in compare to Oppo Oneplus 7 Pro;
- Absolutely everything else is much much better in Pixel 2 XL. I even prefer Pixel screen because of curved display is probably the worst 'improvement' in smartphones history.
Pixel 2x is much better overall device in my opinion than Oppo op7p. I was able to find out three Oppo advantages over Pixel however if compare to g8s and probably any other flagship it's worth nothing. As example I will compare with LG G8s;
- ultra wide angel in LG is wider and overall camera experience are better mainly while recording
- G8s is still very responsive and in daily tasks the same lightning fast like OP7P
- Faster charging in Oppo is worth absolutely nothing because of limited compatibility with my chargers and it will never replace wireless charging
OnePlus is not water resistant. It's not a problem for me at all in normal circumstances but this phone has quite large gaps not only between frame and back which collect a lot of dirt. It's look terrible and I have never seen that in any other flagship. Overall Oneplus is good phone but it's not flagship. This phone is rather very good mid ranger with flagship soc because everything expect soc, ram and storage is in oneplus far worse than in any flagship phone on market. I regret that I bought this phone. Swapping Pixel 2 xl on Oneplus 7 pro was huge downgrade for me.

First of all, it's his own opinion, it should not affect what you decide on buying or not.
To simply put it out for you, if you want an AMAZING camera, don't buy the oneplus, if you want a good camera, then go for it. That's for the camera only.
As far as the reply from the guy/girl above, i have really no idea why the negative bash over the OnePlus, i've been a OPO user since their 1st device, and tbh i've never..EVER.. considered any of thir devices a Flagship or a Flagship killer like they say.
The OnePlus 7 Pro and the 7T and the 7T Pro, i have all three, and all three are performing AMAZINGLY for me in all situations, except for the camera, when it comes to taking pics i user another device, but that does NOT mean the OnePlus camera is bad, no, you just cant expect it to perform like the Pixel phones, that is all.
You want the OnePlus to perform super good camera wise? Get the GCam port APK and unleash the camera powers with that
Again, like i said, go for the 7T Pro, since you're aiming for the 8GB Ram 7 Pro, if the price difference is not huge

Jeff,
What about warranty advice?
Also, do you think my pixel sim would work or do I ned to contact Verizon for a new sim?
Plus, the One Plus website doesn't offer the 12GB ram version yet, only Amazon. . I think I may go for the 8. I can't justify the price and as is I''m going from 4 to 8.
Thanks

1 - I do not have a warranty on mine. You have 30 days after purchase to signup for whatever it is Oneplus is selling. I probably won't get insurance at all.
2 - I just switched my sim from the Pixel 2 to the Oneplus 7 Pro and called Verizon's 800 number and talked to tech support and they did the switch my device to CDMA less over the phone. Took just a few minutes.
3 - I though about going for the 8 myself over the 12. I used my sons student beans discount so I got mine for just a little over $700. If I did have the discount I would have gotten the 8 for sure. Plus buying from Oneplus you can avoid paying tax. That is it or miss on Amazon these days. Far as 7 pro 12 Gig Ram, I see its no longer available on Oneplus web site. They must be out of them.
To answer a few questions from your other posts:
1 - I know can always pay to have your photos upload to original quality to goggle photo/cloud service. But free is free. And it was free on the Pixel 2, lol.
2 - Yes the screen protector comes pre-installed. They also give you a nice clear silicon case as well.
3 - I would of considered the 7T if it came with 256 memory or a Micro SD slot.
4 - Far as that negative review. I would take that with a grain of salt. You show me a new flagship phone and I will show you a negative review, lol.
IMHO, I feel that OP7 Pro is superior to the Pixel 2XL in every way. Even the Camera with its 3 lenses. You won't be disappointed.
To Inpain and JeffBea, Thanks!!!
Now I'm a bit on the fence for the 7T pro or the 7pro.
I'm not a gamer
I want a good camera, but it;'s not a deql breaker.
I'm a performance guy but I'll probably go for the 8 Gig on either model. Can't see spending the extra $200 plus unless you have a serious case to persuade me
Thanks Again,
Rich

If that 200$ is the price difference between the 7 Pro and the 7T Pro, and you're not a gamer like you mentioned, then go for the 7 Pro
