Any one not getting message notification when running Android Auto? Well Im not and i think it has something to do with the Do Not Disturb starting up with AA which its is supposed to do, but still let messages through.
Anybody know the app name for the DND so i can wipe the data/cache?
That's interesting. My Do Not Disturb never turned on when I was using Android auto. Even on my S8+.
It seems to be fixed but i had to change text message apps.

Title says it all, but it's still vague as hell. Vibrate problems on ringing/notification? Haptic feedback in general? Elaboration is your friend.
Staying on post, I didn't notice any vibration issues while I had it turned on, but its since been turned off to conserve battery life.
I have this problem all the time, Im vague for everything without realizing it. I meant vibrate for notifications. I tried turning it on in settings but nothing.
If you want it to vibrate for your text messages you must go into the settings in the messaging app and turn it on as well as in the global settings. Same for email i believe.
Well, that did it. thank you very much.
thx that helps me too.
I just want to chime in on this situation and say that I had the same problem on my completely stock evo shift. One moment it worked perfectly and the next it didn't. After several attempts at checking settings and hard/soft resetting, come to find out it was a faulty motor in mine that worked when it wanted to. Had my phone replaced at the sprint store after a supposed cleaning fixed it and then failed again after 3 vibrating notifications. Just another possible resolution/observation.

Actually I have the opposite problem, I cannot disable notifications vibration ( for messages ) on MIUI ... but I found out this was caused by the apps settings ( Fb messanger / Wechat / What'sup )
Does anyone else have this problem or know how to stop it?
The schedule function is off, so it can't be that. I've enabled the exception for alarms within it since this keeps happening, but could be dangerous for some people if it does enable on its own like this.

Yeah I get this too. Looks like it's enforcing the schedule to me, despite it not being enabled. Really annoying

I figured out it was automateit, the app. I had it set to turn the phone down to silent at a certain time of night, but apparently this option enables do not disturb mode on this phone instead of just silencing it. Just poor handling, can't blame the app though, phone is still very new.

I'm having the same problem but its also happening in the middle of the day. I've tried to schedule when its to turn on/off but this has not helped.
"Do not disturb" setting turns on randomly
Same problem. Any advice appreciated. For the moment I've gutted the DND setting by telling the phone to let calls, texts, and emails through when in DND mode.
Are you sure its not some app you have installed on the phone?
JuiceDefender for example does this for me, even when do not disturb is turned off in the main settings.

Thanks. Yes, it's an app, though I don't yet know which one. Restarted in Safe Mode and issue went away.
Do not disturb coming on by its self .
I had the same problem on my Samsung J7 .
What I did to solve that problem was I uninstalled all my apps and reinstalled them one by one and watched which one was giving me problems .....And the app TrackR was my problem now I have no problem with my do not disturb ...The app TrackR seems to have a bug .
Happens w the S8+ too
I have tried and tired to figure this out. I am missing important texts because my DND is turning on in the middle of the day randomly despite turning it off. Any ideas?
I bought a Samsung S8, and immediately started having this problem. It stumped me for a while, until I found this thread. I had installed Tasker and imported the settings from my old phone. It turns out that the action to turn on silent mode was turning on Do Not Disturb instead. The actions that used to say Silent Mode "On" now said "Mode 2". I tested it out and, sure enough, it went to Do Not Disturb. For some reason, "On" no longer appears in the pull down box for silent mode; only "Off" and "Vibrate". For now, I'll switch all the broken actions to say "Vibrate".
I'm just wondering if anyone is having the same issue.
Before updating to Nougat, in App Notifications you could set individual apps to Treat as Priority so you would still get notifications even when Do Not Disturb was enabled.
I like to use Do Not Disturb and allow Priority only. I would set WhatsApp, for example, to Treat as Priority and I would still get notifications despite Do Not Disturb being enabled.
I've now updated to Nougat and the Treat as Priority has vanished from the individual app notification settings. I did see a screen shot from Nougat that had a slightly different, but effectively the same option called Override Do Not Disturb.
After updating and looking at WhatsApp it said Do Not Disturb overridden but I have no toggle to change it. I had to reset apps to clear it.
I've added a screenshot to show what I mean. No Treat as Priority or Override Do Not Disturb.
I know you can slide an app notification to the right and hit the settings icon that appears but this still doesn't allow overriding of Do Not Disturb.
I would just like to know if anyone has Treat as Priority or Override Do Not Disturb as a toggle on their XZ?
Sony told me to do a firmware repair, but I'd rather check here first as I doubt a firmware repair will do anything.
Just so you know, I'm running completely stock firmware, and stock XZ. No unlocked bootloaders or anything.
Any thoughts?
Cheers,
Mick.
Solved
Problem solved by factory data reset.
The option to allow interrupts in Do not Disturb has now appeared in the individual apps notification settings. Must have been a glitch after the OTA update.
Looks like I'll be going back to the days where a factory reset was almost obligatory to get your phone working properly again after an OTA.
So much for seamless updates.

Yo uare right, I'm having several weird issues with the OTA. This same thing occured to me on my various previous Sonys. Silly and annoying for sure. I'm going about reinstalling Nougat from scratch myself asap
Anyone else have this issue? When receiving an SMS message, I will get the pop up notification and sound, but then the notification will disappear as if it has been dismissed. The message will still be unread in the Messaging app, but there will be no notification either on the phone or on my Android Wear device. Strange.
Same here. Anybody find a fix? Driving me crazy
There's an option in settings to check notification access.. probably you can review the applications there or check the notification settings for messages app.. Maybe an alternate messages app is overriding it

I haven't found anything amiss in the notification settings.
My hangouts won't notify me like it used to (on Silent, but with LED), and I've been missing text messages/gmail as well. When I turn on the lockscreen voila! all the crap you've missed. I've flipped every setting known to man. Cleared my cache from recovery. In my frustration, it seems like the only thing left is to drop this brick out the window and get something that isn't messed up by the carrier every other firmware.
Nougat sucks for me. I had to download a samsung theme, to replace the crap they did with it. I am honestly surprised that there are so few people complaining.
Strange. I never have issues with Hangouts. It's only the Samsung Messages app that self-dismisses notifications. I've tried just using Google's Android Messages or whatever they are calling it these days and I actually like it better. Unfortunately, I frequently utilize WiFi Calling/SMS and Digits for a second line and the stock Samsung app is the only text messaging I've found app that does both. This T-Mobile integration is the same reason I switched back to Samsung from my Xperia XZ and why my next phone will probably be Samsung again unless theses features ever become usable on an unlocked phone.
Okay, slightly different problem, but weird and perplexing. Running U firmware on an AT&T A. Stock Email app on mobile data only will show a badge notification for new mail, but no notification sound or light flashing. On WIFI everything works as it should. On AT&T firmware it works fine as well either way. Hmm...
After the Oreo update, any (or almost any) notification shown triggers an notification 'ding', even though Settings → Sound & notification → Default notification sound is set to Silent. Before update, I had everything on silent, only incoming texts on vibrate and calendar notifications with sound, other notifications I would only notice visually (LED or notifications bar/drawer).
I'm sure Gmail app and HTC Sense now do a sound even though they shouldn't and no setting was changed. I even tried setting "Default notification sound" to some sound and back to Silent, and still there is a sound.
Any suggestion how to make my phone silent again?
You can set it for every single App via settings > apps > appname > notifications. Or by settings > sound and notifications > advanced > notifications.

well, that's what I'm trying to avoid - there's a lot of apps there, don't wanna spend an hour disabling them one by one. On Nougat it worked universally.
Thinking of it, I'm looking for per-app whitelisting of notification sounds, instead of blacklisting them. If not possible, which I think is a design flaw, I guess I'll have to cover each app individually.
I can reproduce that but I'm ok with it. Have you tried something like https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.fnp.audioprofiles or https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=Orion.Soft ?

This is kind of overkill for me. I guess in the end I'll just disable Gmail and some others and it will be enough. Thanks for the tip though, didn't know this was possible w/o root!
Just, backup you data, flash the RUU, and set it up again. I always get some random bug when updating via OTA only...

I'm sure factory reset would work just as well, but that's the other thing I wanted to avoid, restoring backups is usually a long and bothersome process for me. This is the only bug I'm experiencing without an obvious quick fix so far and actually the first OTA with any problem for me and my U11, so I guess I'll keep using the system as is.
The easiest way to do this is get a silent/empty notification track and set that as the default notification sound. That way android thinks it's playing a sound but isn't. Then set a different notification sound for apps you do want to hear.
