Wow motorola is so messed up!
Updated it via the official OTA and I'm stuck in a bootloop.
Anyone knows how to fix this?

that is the problem, you should not have installed the update if you had the Bootloader unlocked o ROOT.

Before install OTA update, you MUST in stock ROM without any mod like flash custom recovery or root or uninstall any apps.
No need relock bootloader.
Solution : flash newest stock MM by cmd command or RSD Lite.

For people who had tried to flash the soak test and failed have no way to upgrade to nougat at this moment.
I myself had tried to update the soak test via stock recovery and stuck into bootloop.
I unlocked my bootloader & rolled back to 6.0.1, but yesterday when I got the official ota for 7.1.1 I simply downloaded the update was halfway through the upgradation process suddenly it showed the android logo with red exclamation mark & when I tried to turn my device on it was stuck in bootloop.
I again flashed the stock 6.0.1 rom and found some strange issue i.e. when I am getting the marshmallow ota (3 otas of MM), the device is restarting to the bootloader instead of getting into the recovery and updating automatically which used to happen earlier, once I click the volume down button and enter the recovery manually the update automatically starts to get applied.
After all the 3 ota when I once again got the notification for 7.1.1 upgrade it was again struck midway with the android and red exclamation sign.
So had to again roll back to 6.0.1
Earlier I had the moto g1 and things were not this complex back then, it was so easy to flash the soak test or captured ota via stock recovery
People who are facing this issue have to flash 6.0.1 and wait for moto to release 7.1.1 fastboot rom or if someone releases a twrp flashable 7.1.1 zip :crying:

When you downgrade to 601, dont flash 2 file: motoboot and gpt.bin. Flash all except 2 that file

why in my x play i didn't get update yet??????
???????

I just got the OTA update today too.
Edit. I am a thai user.

Exactly two years after me buying this phone, I am glad the promise is finally delivered on by Motorola (now Lenovo I guess). A little late, yeah sure. But none the less it is here and happy I am! If I had bought a Samsung/Asus/LG or any other top brand's phone worth 15K INR (it was a big billion deal on Flipkart) in 2015 I doubt I would be able to say the same now.

Can anyone upload the update file??

Anyone capture the ota:
When you receive an OTA notification, DON'T download it. To capture the OTA, follow the steps mentioned below:
1. Download Terminal Emulator from the Play Store (https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...ww.apk4fun.com).
2. Open Terminal Emulator and type: "logcat > /sdcard/ota.txt" (without quotes).
3. Go back to the OTA notification & click on download.
4. When the download process is starting, switch back to terminal emulator & close it.
5. Browse to your SD Card using any file manager. There you'll find a file named "OTA.txt". Open it & search for OTA download link in it.
That's it.

My tedious update of M8SW to Marshmallow with TWRP backups

Hiya People,
Just wanted to share my journey and my TWRP backups with you all.
I have a M8sw (dual-SIM) mec_dugl which many thanks and :highfive: and respect to DutchDanny, I converted it to a M8sw Europe/UK version running near stock Lollipop 5.0.2 Sense 6 RUU 2.33.401.6.
When I saw the Marshmallow update, I was over the moon and decided to download it straightaway but as I had TWRP as recovery, the phone was rooted and had xposed installed, I knew I didn't have much of a chance.
So guess what? The Marshmallow update downloaded OK and then tried to go into recovery but since it was TWRP, it failed. So I took the OTA zip file from the phone's downloaded folder and extracted out the recovery.img from the firmware.zip and replaced TWRP. I then uninstalled xposed and turned off SuperSU. This time round, I go a similar message as http://forum.xda-developers.com/one-e8/help/help-htc-e8sd-mm-update-install-error-t3345406
So I decided to follow a mixture of DutchDanny's [REMODEL][S-OFF NEEDED] M8SW China Remodel to M8SW EU and yourmate's guide get OTA updates.
To cut the already long story short, I went back to L5 Stock 2.33.401.3 then use OTA updates to L5 Stock 2.33.401.6 and then finally to the part 1 of the Marshmallow update L5 Stock 2.33.401.8 and at each stage, I reflash TWRP, wipe and then backup and then reflash the OTA recovery.img in readiness for the next OTA
So I have the last Lollipop 5.0.2 Stock HTC Sense 6 Europe 2.33.401.8 factory reset TWRP backup AND Marshmallow 6.0.1 Stock HTC Sense 7 Europe 3.07.401.1 factory reset TWRP backup in all its glory with bloatware and all.
Enjoy!
I have remodeled my phone following the DutchDanny guide. I rooted the phone and installed xpose. BUT to install marshmallow I first install the lolipop RUU from hboot. then enter to system update to marshmallow without any problem. finally I flash TWRP and then flash supersu and that all for me.
bro help
i have same porblem and i kinda even forgot how to i rooted phone.. man i have rooted it before and i hate twrk recovry.. i also had super user.. and bootloader minu says s on.. i clocked super user and chose unroot and it did.. then i cant find twrk any more.. and i wanna install andriod 6 s bad please tell me how to do it

good day sir, that is a Marshmallow TWRP backup right? if i restore the file with my M8sw (dual-SIM) mec_dugl, will it work and give me an MM firmware? coz mine just got recovery loop after i updated with MM and is it converted to EU version already? Thanks!
I have downloaded your "Marshmallow 6.0.1 Stock HTC Sense 7 Europe 3.07.401.1 factory reset TWRP backup" and recover it in twrp but after the recovery it just stuck in bootloop. What must I do to make it working?

I also had the same problem after upgrading to MM.... my guess is that it's the kernel module for wifi which need to be updated.... seems like HTC isn't putting much effort to implement the new update...
I went back to lollipop with a twrp backup.

I actually has stock rom with no modification that will cause bootloop when upgrading.. I only had to unroot.. Flash stock boot and recovery and let OTA do the rest
I haven't tried the twrp backup on this thread.

Keep in mind that you'll need an unmodified stock ROM for OTA to be a success... Being rooted or having xposed framework causes bootloops.
As for the Chinese store.. You can easily replace it with Google apps.... Just follow the direction in this video.. You can skip it to 1:50mins....

Thank you so much for your reply. I tried to update(OTA) my kitkat[1.21.1402.11] rom to lollipop last night but when I woke up there's this error saying that I should have unmodified rom in order to download the OTA. this ROM that im using is the stock RUU from this link. I dont know why it says that it is modified. does it something to do with my location? because im in the Philippines and this is phone is from China. Hmm, really having a problem updating to MM. Sorry I'm new in HTC's because I'm a Samsung user from the past.

Fail to load wifi driver on marshmallow twrp rom
Hello
My device is a HTC e8 Chinese version that is remodeled to EU version.
After upgrading to Marshmallow with twrp, everything seemed to be OK but Wi-Fi persists to be in OFF situation and it couldn't be ON.
And then I put the phone on Airplane mode and then I start Wi-Fi again, when I did it, a notification appeared that it told me:
"Fail to load driver, reason: Module is not compatible (8)."

It seems that mostly everyone with the china unicom is facing this issue... It has something to do with the kernel or kernel module for WiFi... Unless a developer is able solve this problem... We're gonna have to wait for HTC to fix this via an OTA update.

AU/Asia firmware update for MAY security android release

Woke up to an alert saying there is an update for the MM XT1752 I have.
Managed to extract the firmware since I am S-OFF, rooted and using TWRP 3.0.2-0.
Have not been brave/stupid enough to try to just flash this file yet as I can see it's an updater script one and am not up to speed on how to handle this kind of ZIP file.
I am hoping someone else can figure out if there is a way to use this as is, with out having to flash stock recovery, update, then flash TWRP back.
Phone currently stuck looping between the updater triggering and rebooting the phone into recovery mode until I can nerf that.
Wasnt aware TWRP was trying to flash that update zip (since when was that ever a good idea)?
flash fails with error code 7 and text to the effect that my device isnt a motorola/clark_retasia/clark:6.0/MPHS24.49-20-3/3:user/release-keys or a motorola/clark_retasia/clark:6.0/MPHS24.49-20-4/4:user/release-keys and is instead reporting a ro.build.fingerprint of motorola/clark_retus/clark:5.1.1/LPH23.116-18/18:user/release-keys.
Which makes sense since I was hunting around for a MM ROM a while back and appear to have flashed a US release onto my device (my carrier is VFAU in Australia).
For everyone's info, this is still 6.0 with the May 2016 update, according to http://vodafone.intelliresponse.com...stion=Motorola+Moto+X+Style+-+Software+update
psyvenrix, I had the same error as you even after flashing stock recovery. It might have to do with the custom kernel I installed. I had to flash stock system, boot and recovery before it worked.

My Moto notified me of the update (24.221.4) last night. Is it safe to update (I'm rooted, xposed, adaway, layers .....)? If it is, does it mean getting TWRP, root etc all back or what exactly?
[Odd thing, I'm currently on 24.201.3.clark_reteu.reteu.en.EU.retfr and the update screen is in French, but the phone is in English. I flashed this firmware when I needed to start the phone fresh and this was the only firmware that worked.
Doesn't really matter, I'm in South Africa, and there is no firmware specific for South Africa anyway - probably best if I had the UK firmware in fact.]
Keep looking you'll find it.

Who knows how Motorola work these things. Got to say I have no real complaints with my Moto X Style. Stock and still locked and running very well. Yes it has the 'paste' lag but I can live with that for now. No phone has given me the upgrade itch [emoji83] but like everyone here, like to have the latest software version! Wonder when we'll get Android N [emoji8]

Can I just update while rooted etc?
Or must I go back to stock first and then update and then redo everything?
Is there an easy way to get back to where I was perhaps, like backing up and restoring data or something?
Sorry guys, but I'm not sure what to do, and others have already updated, but I'm not sure what route they followed.
EDIT: went back to unmodified stock and updated..
TWRP 3.0.0 and rooted. Clicked "Yes, I'm in" and now it's automatically rebooting into TWRP trying to flash that stuff. After booting into system, it starts the update process again and soon ends up in TWRP. Luckily I made a backup beforehand . Be careful, don't click "Yes, I'm in" yet. Do a backup!
Is there anyway to flash the Aus modems for the MXP? I'm running CM13 and I am unable to get mobile data, just get 4G! symbol.

I had the same result. But I went back to stock and updated.
So now a new question pops up:
How do systemless installs help if the recovery is TWRP and the update won't go through on TWRP? My supersu was done systemless (didn't work unless I forced systemless).
But this time around I'm looking at doing the xposed systemless (by romracer) as well. For now, I'm just rooted, but should I do everything systemless and an update comes along, how would one go about it? Possibly "fastboot flash recovery recovery.img" and then do the update without TWRP - if that removes TWRP?
In bootloader it still says "Device status: official"..
I chose systemless because it is claimed to be the "neater" solution. I don't really care about OTA anymore - paid attention last time, but after flashing back and forth I don't mind doing it again when another update comes out.
But back to your initial question: reflashing the stock recovery is certainly a part of the solution. Might be possible you also have to flash stock boot.img. Don't know how systemless xposed works (probably similar), but systemless root works by modifying the boot.img. So it is not stock anymore.
Regards Grtschnk
easiest way is to reflash stock system, boot and recovery. no need to wipe data (for minor updates only), then flash update. or, wait for the full system image to be posted.
as posted systemless really doesn't matter unless you just want android pay and titanium backup.

Sorry, but my bootloader is still locked. so I can't root my device and capture the OTA file.
I hope it will be soon share by another one who don't bother Motorola warranty.
But I think the best way is to wait it's will officially purpose on your device. As you don't have to wait too much , like it was the case for 6.0.1 UPDATE for me.

No problems, thanks for replying in any case. I received the OTA myself as it happens a short time ago here in the UK.
I managed to capture the OTA via ADB from TWRP, download linked below. (EU ROM running on a GB phone with an unlocked bootloader to install Nougat reteu.) Tested by performing an adb sideload from stock recovery from 25.200-15. This is essentially the August 2017 security update for Nougat 7.0.

Was this on a retgb ROM (i.e. a ROM for a phone sold in the UK) or a reteu ROM (i.e. a ROM for a phone sold elsewhere in the EU)? My phone had a 6.0 (not 6.0.1) retgb ROM, and as far as I know, there have not been any Nougat versions for any phones on 6.0. Have you received a Nougat update for retgb?

I'm on one of the Nougat roms posted in this forum which was from a TWRP backup image. No idea where it's from to be honest. I do know that it keeps telling me that I have an update to the August security patch available but it won't install as I have modified it.
Can't install via stock recovery. When i put update from sdcard the phone get stuck
You can try install it with flashfire app(root) or modify updater-script in zip file or wait for another twrp backup. @lmulli

Already tried with flashfire, no joy alas. I'll install the default recovery and see what the exact error message is. From recollection, it was saying something about the key expecting 7.0.0 but it being 6.0.1, although it is Nougat.

I have had most success via adb sideload in stock recovery, but because it's an OTA, you also need to ensure you're at the correct patch level before trying to apply it. This installs over the initial Nougat reteu (NPH25.200-15).
I have received it yesterday in Poland
Just got that update myself this morning on my Style...
In Poland, on stock firmware, also update applied. However as mentioned, security patch level is 01-08-2017, so it doesn't cover latest Bluetooth Blueborne problems - we have still to wait for September 2017 Google Patch. Hope that Motorola will issue it soon.
I got this security update 2 days ago here in Germany. I was a little bit confused, because my bootloader is unlocked and i already rooted my phone when 7.0 came out and i thought that i can't receive any future OTA updates. Because i'm using TWRP as recovery the installation of this OTA security patch always gets me into TWRP when i try to install it. So i have to use the Bootloader -> Start to start my phone again normally. Someone has a TWRP installation file for the (german) 1572 model security patch? Thanks in advance.
OTA NPH25.201.3 is now aviable on dl.prazaar.de
Thanks to @Prazaar
hey i need help
hey
i just lost da original backup after root on moto x style XT1572
its possible if someone share backup ?
its possible to install with TWRP ?
thanks
I just get an error message when I try to install the update. I think it's because I had magisk installed previously which I think had to modify the boot.img file. I tried resetting my phone and applying the update but I still get the same error. How can I fix this? Can I just go into the bootloader and flash the original nougat boot.img or does that not exist yet? If not then can I downgrade to marshmallow and update to nougat again?

Hello all,
I have a rooted (with CWM) Mate7 TL10 EMUI 3.0 (4.4.2) B131, (Middle East) and need to update it to Marshmallow, can I do it directly? or do I have to update to Lollipop first? either way, please guide me on how to do it, I have been looking online for days for B131, but couldn't find anything for it.
thank you in advanced

I just had this problem a month ago, same build number and barely any help. But, I was able to find helpful posts in the end. So I'm here to help... and yes. First Lollipop then Marshmallow update.
As you probably know, BACKUP what you need before proceeding.
Then you need to:
1- Unroot your phone if you have root.
2- Have EMUI's stock recovery. You can reinstall it in case you've installed a custom recovery on the phone.
3- Factory reset your device (HIGHLY ADVICE to do but not mandatory).
4- Download Lollipop update (to B326) from here: http://ministryofsolutions.com/2016/02/huawei-mate-7-lollipop-511-upgrade-for.html
5- After you finish the download, extract the "UPDATE.APP" file from it (no need to extract anything else from the archive), create a folder called "dload", and put "UPDATE.APP" in that folder.
6- Once you've done that, you should go to updater in your settings, select "local update". This time, the phone should detect the file "UPDATE.APP".
7- Next, attempt to update. The device should restart and attempt to install the update.
From my experience, the update took about 30 minutes to install, since I didn't factory reset before update. So, I don't know if it'll take less time with a clean device.
To update to marshmallow AFTER you've installed lollipop, simply find the OTA update online, download it, and repeat steps 5 to 7.
If anything of what I said was unclear, missing files to download, or you have any questions, feel free to post again here and I'll try to reply back.
Hopefully everything goes well with you, and have a good day.
Credit goes mostly to Mutahhar Bashir for posting the above site of the update.
EDIT:
P.S.: For bootloader re-lock, I personally don't think it's a must, since it worked updating ota with unlocked bootloader for me.
Highly appreciated my friend
Thank you so much for the help, quick question though, where from can I get the correct stock recovery for my device? Is there a chance I would brick it if I try to install an incompatible recovery?
Again, thank you so much for the help.

Found it on another site. This should be it: http://forum.android.com.pl/topic/2...recovery-sterowniki-mt7-l09-mt7-tl10/?page=27
Sorry I took long, had difficulty finding the file. Install the recovery version that you are CURRENTLY in. The file is called "Recovery mate7 mobopx v2.2". You'll find it on a specific reply on that page.
Keep me up-to-date with your progress for me to see if I can help.
Thanks mate, I really appreciate this, however, you kinda lost me when you said "Install the recovery version that you are CURRENTLY in", I'm not sure I get what you meant, u mean reinstall the same recovert I already have? Or check what version of CWM I have and install the same version of the TWRP recovery?

Oh I was unclear. Sorry.
What I meant is, that the stock recovery you want to install should be the same as the android version of your phone currently. As in you are currently on Kitkat, then choose to install the kitkat stock recovery from the application.
I hope it's clear right now.

Uhm... just a few suggestions:
-Install adb drivers
-Install hisuite (It contains drivers for the mate 7)
-Enable usb debugging (which I'm pretty confident you've enabled)
Universal ADB drivers can be found on the official Clockworkmod website. Hisuite should be available on Huawei's site. Also bootloader must be unlocked (which I'm also confident you have already) if it's not.
Other than what I said above, I still can't think of any other way to try and fix it... Sorry if I couldn't help.

Stock recovery with root installed is no problem. You can do that after installation. When you get to the OTA update part, uninstall root before so. So, you're not forced to as long as you are still at this step.

You MUST have stock recovery for OTA updates. Sorry.
You can try relock then unlock. But i specifically dont know how to. I think there is an app you can find on the tools/utilities tab of this device for utilities for the Mate7, which i think has a relock bootloader option, and many more utilities.
Other than that, I don't know yet how to help you man. For the meantime, surf the internet if you can find anything that can help.
I apologize.
EDIT: Doesn't your phone reboot into bootloader when trying to install? And have you made sure if the recovery has changed?
thanks man for all the help, yes my device reboots into bootloader and it says device unlocked in red on that screen, and yes i'm still on CWM recovery.i even tried
-adb reboot recovery
-fastboot flash recovery d:\recovery.img
but still get the same error, i think the bootloader lock might be the problem, will look around for that utility you've mentioned and let you know how it goes.

Unlock your bootloader again and it might fix the problem. Also you can check out DC Unlocker.
If there is a TWRP for KitKat you can use the terminal to flash your stock recovery or you can use Flashify with root.

Well I got nowhere. The moment I reboot into bootloader, the device isn't visible in adb anymore, but only under "fastboot devices", so "adb sideload path-" fails because it can't find the device. What gives?

Hi guys,
is it necessary to sideload OTA updates? Can I just update the system in settings and then flash a rooted boot image corresponding to the update version?

This is for people like me who are not able to run twrp on their phones. If you have twrp you should be able to flash the zip file easy. This guide assumes you have stock recovery
Update: confirmed working for July update as well.
I'm sorry if this seems dumb, but I'm kinda new to all of this. I have TWRP and now I want the July patch, how can I do it?
Update: I gave up and flashed stock recovery.

In twrp it should be straight forward to flash a zip file which includes the update. Another option or if this fails, start sideload from twrp like in the following photos

Sorry man I relied on the other developer's repository so much that I can't offer any tools nor files. I can help you get to stock easy. As Nokia offers the original Rom on their website officially. I believe it can be found here

The web page requires a validation code that you get from the unlock app from your phone and as we know the app gives a nice "Device not support" if you try running it on Pie. Tested myself just in case.

In the end I've decided to just go for it and see what happens. Shouldn't make things worse. Flashed the stock boot image for my security patch right on top of TWRP. The phone booted, but I still couldn't install updates. Tried flashing the next update (May) from both ADB and the SD card - failed with the same download state initialization error. Figured I may as well try the same but with the full .zip of my current OS version (April) and while it took pretty long, it finished with no issues and OTA's started rolling in without a hiccup. Surprisingly I didn't even lose any of my data in the process, which I was preparing for. I guess all that's left is to lock the bootloader?
Anyway thanks for the help!
