Well its kinda hard to port miui sense miui uses cm7 as its base rom. And we don't have code yet to make a aosp type rom so this port would literally be impossible for a while.

EDIT: Vote for the Sensation!
Why hasn't the source been released yet? Do we have an ETA?
HTC is stubborn, an ETA would be 90-120 days after the release of the phone... We're looking at some time before December.
The sensation isn't similar to our device at all when it comes to porting. Our device is wvga display and the sensation is qHD display. And the resolution on our device has 800x480 and sensation is 1040x960. The sensation and Doubleshot have SOME same specs but overall this device is most like G2 when it comes to porting.

Code for what? We don't need the kernel source code to make a userspace Android port of CM7.
We need cm7. Which miui uses as Its base rom which we dont have.

MIUI China is having another poll, this time the HTC Sensation is gaining a high amount of votes.
A couple of ROMs have been successfully ported from the Sensation to the Doubleshot, including tbalden's Pyroice. If the Sensation wins, we may be seeing MIUI soon
Please vote, even if you don't plan on using MIUI ! a simple click won't hurt, it will take less than a minute.

I agree - more options are always better. Just because I don't like it doesn't mean someone else doesn't want it, if I wanted to get stuck with what someone else wanted me to have i'd get an i-something.
If someone can tell us how to vote without having a facebook account, i'd be happy to do so.

Yeah, I don't think there's another way...
There may be another poll somewhere, I'll look. You could try creating a random Facebook just to vote and then just forget about it (Don't de-activate the Facebook, it would take the vote away)
yea...that's kinda crossing a line I got drawn in the sand - I don't want to entangle myself with Facebook.
If you can find any other ways I could do something to help, let me know, i'll support anything that brings more development to the doubleshot if I can.
Blue and Shady,
I have two friends who have no idea what MIUI or even a 'rom' is who just cast votes for you too. So good job! Hehe.
Everyone! Please vote for the Sensation. It doesn't mean we will get MIUI but it opens the door. Support the effort even if you don't like MIUI. More roms for this device means more attention and more people in the game. More development!!!

And depending on how well it's done, MIUI can be great friends with your battery.
Just my spare change.
Even though we already have a working miui, official miui team is taking poll to make miui for another device official. An official release will mean less bugs and faster updates.

Stop comparing MIUI to iOS just because it has all the app on the launcher, MIUI is more than that..

stop judging and try it, see for yourself.. if you dont like use something else, dont ***** at the people that do use it lol

You guys just sit down and relax, i'm totally sure One S will have official support, because almost every above par HTC has it!
I hope we do. but miui tends to keep a lot of older devices and add the newer one later.
but we have a good head start with the unofficial rom, hope they are aware of that.
I find it hilarious and embarrassing how many phones were added to that list more than once...

I will be updating my ROM every week, just like China. It would be done already today, but there was a delay in China. The other thing to realize is if it does go official, it will be based off sense, so the file size will be at least double of what my port is.

That's the way MIUI has been doing all their official v4 releases. It's called patchrom. By doing it that way, they don't have to really on there being a developed aosp base, which can help the roms be released sooner. Downside is the zips are like double the size, and it's not an aosp ROM anymore

So a while ago, there was a post talking about whether anyone was interested in MIUI for the HTC One (M8). (this one). I was wondering if anyone has heard any more news on whether MIUI will be coming to this awesome phone any time soon. I can't even imagine the epicness that would come out of it...
That thread is for the M7, not M8. That said, I have no idea if anybody's working on it or not. Haven't heard a thing. Would be nice if we did get it though.

Since I was the primary MIUI maintainer for Sprint Evo 3D and M7 (and have since moved to VZW M8), let me address this somewhat old question.
I will be doing a port to VZW just as soon as Xiaomi releases an international M8 ROM. I've been watching their release news somewhat regularly, but haven't seen anything just yet. In fact, I stumbled across this thread searching for possible other releases. Either way, I've got lots of practice porting to VZW M8 from Intl. version via my GPE port, so it's literally just a matter of waiting on Xiaomi.
As far as the comment about MIUI having a large number of bugs...not sure where you're getting your info from, but that's dead wrong. IMHO, MIUI is by far the best ROM I've every used.

Likely to roll out this week. 1st build can be buggy.
Hello all,
I hope your devices are treating you well.
I currently have a Nexus 4, which the support for is slowly dying. Therefore, I need to buy a new well supported phone.
First off, I really like the Mi 4C. However, I fear that it will become obsolete and follow the N4's fate really soon. Is that true?
Second, when I got the N4, I realized that there were some issues that people didn't speak much about such as noise while in phonecalls because of the proximity sensor and some headset buttons not working. Are there any similar - or untold - problems like that?
Finally, some rumors are popping out about the Mi5, do you think its worth the wait?
Any and all answers are appreciated. Thank you.
IMO if you really like vanilla android, fast updates and vast amount of custom ROMs, you will probably gonna miss that on Xiaomi's phone
My last phone was Moto G first gen and my first impression after moving to Xiaomi (MIUI) is that some features from vanilla android are missing on MIUI. I really missed that on the first couple of weeks but I learn to live without that for a few more weeks, had enough and switched to CM12 ROMs
Don't get me wrong, there is nothing wrong with the hardware. It's just I didn't really like MIUI
I think you should try MIUI first to see if you like it or not and you can always use custom ROMs if you want.

Little things like expanding notifications on the lock screen without pulling notification drawer, task switcher design, inconsistent notification color and overall UI experience is less polished than vanilla android.
It looks like a minor thing but once it's gone I really missed that.
Well MIUI isn't so bad, just a bit different and needs time to get used to. The device seems the best 5' vfm right now. Upon release of kernel sources I'm sure it will get proper dev support too.
Thanks for all your answers.
The way I understand it now is that the device doesn't have proper dev support due to the lack of an open source kernel. Was the release of this kernel a rumor or was it confirmed?
Also, can you guys please answer me about the wait for Mi 5 and the device's hardware issues?
Thanks again

4c is probably the best bang for buck phone you can get now, great specs incl ir blaster, great camera, loud speaker although mono. Only thing keeping it back is kernel sources but that hasn't stopped 2 different cm roms coming on it.
I also came from a Nexus 4 and this is a great upgrade and I expect it have support for 3 years at least.
Mi5 will be great phone with flagship specs so at least wait for the official reveal and prices. If I were in your position I'd probably lean towards the mi5
I just got this Mi-4c a few days ago from a friend. Honestly, I love MIUI. I used to have a ROM with it on my old Motorola Triumph from Virgin Mobile. I think it's amazing with the themes. Pair in different fonts and live wallpapers and I'm in love.
I currently use an iPhone 6s as my primary, have a Note 3 for media, a BlackBerry Z10 just because and a Lumia 640 for the same reason.
I can't wait until my official smart wallet case from Xiaomi comes! I love technology... ^.^

I'm using stock MIUI 7. Luckily I'm pretty familiar with the layout, so I can navigate easily even though everything is in Chinese. I figure if I want to modify, I can always do it. For now though, I'm enjoying it the way it came.
Only thing I've done is get the Playstore and the Google installer. Besides that, I liked the phone as it came.

Yes, it is a pretty neat phone. I actually like MIUI, more than I thought. But it bugs me, that I can't set the DPI. That's actually the only thin preventing me from using MIUI. Also, I can't seem to be able to download Theme or anything from the MI Store.
Did you check if you had any malware installed when you got it? Mine was infected when I got it. I just bought one for my significant other, got it today, and found out that it too was infected, had TWRP installed and Xiaomi.eu as ROM. :silly:

You can manually chnange the DPI:
1) Install a terminal emulator
2) Type in "su" and grant Superuser rights
3) Type in "wm density YOURDPI"
4) Reboot.
Just replace YOURDPI with the dpi you want, for example 380.
Horizontal multi-multitasking they way they do it sux. Just give me lollipop carousel and MIUI is everything iOS should be but never will be.
I see a few "home-brewed" roms out there but not with their difficulties to install and possible soft bricking.
I don't see any of these roms beating out simply sticking with stock, rooting, exposed framework w/ gravity box, V4A, and secure settings.
This is all that is needed for me to be happy. Until an official rom comes out that has this phone figured out with gapps and have all these mods built in and a bit safer to flash, then maybe then.
So, all in all, I'm happy until this happens. Any one else happy with their set up as of now and if an official rom comes then fine time to play some more?

Because custom rooms on phones are much cooler. You can flash any color paint you want on the walls and even flash yourself a man cave. J/K. But seriously, this is the first phone I have ever owned that I'm actually satisfied with the stock Android experience. When I was using an HTC Evo 3D back in the day, I grew quite fond of MIUI so I would love to see an Oreo version of that down the line. For now I'm sticking with stock. I never tried Lineage OS so I may try that as things progress, but not as a daily driver. There is a version of Lineage for my Nvidia Shield TV that I may duel boot to and play with before I try it on my Pixel.

There are a lot of MIUI launchers, if that's the experience you're looking for - see https://play.google.com/store/search?q=miui launcher . (An app is an app, regardless of which phone it's running on, so the fact that a particular app is running in an HTC won't change anything about it much, if at all, it's just the launcher that makes the real difference.)

What I was actually stating is that the stock Pixel ROM is actually quite nice and useable even for a power user. Whereas the stock ROM for other phones I've owned were the opposite so I actually needed to run a 3rd party ROM to truly enjoy my phone. As far as MIUI, the launcher was not the reason I liked it so much. In fact, I really enjoy the Pixel launcher. (#1) When running a real MIUI ROM you have the ability to master toggle Root. This is a security feature and you can turn root off entirely when not needed and turn it on only when needed. (#2) The built in firewall is very handy. It not only allows you to select which apps can connect to the internet and which ones cannot but specifically which app processes can and cannot. I am able to stop Google services from sending anonymous info behind the scenes while keeping basic functionality of Gapps. (#3) The built in permission manager. Much more advanced than the permission manager on our Pixel 2 phones being that on MIUI there is a list of permissions most people don't know exist. These permissions are not configurable and hidden in most ROMs such as the ability turn off an apps access to your phones unique ID (IMEI, serial #, etc). These advanced permissions can be configured for both user and system apps alike. Again, just giving an app the bare minimum permissions it needs to function correctly without anything extra or intrusive. In addition, I really like the settings menu layout as well as additional settings not found in most AOSP ROMs. However, the last version of MIUI I really used like this was Jelly Bean based so I can only imagine how far it has come since then and I'm looking forward to trying an Oreo based version on my Pixel some time in the future.
I was about to purchase pixel 2 this weekend. While big brother (pixel 2 XL) having certain screen QC issues, I was thinking to get smaller one (even though - not big fan of small screen, small battery and huge bezels, but whatever). I remember my good old days with Nexus 5 with tons of custom ROMs. I was thinking the is going on right now with pixel 2 family.
I was shocked that there''re no custom ROMs so far. Wow... Even TWRP is in beta stage, but pixel 2 has been released months ago. That's weird....
Am I missing smth or got blind all of sudden? Why there''re no custom ROMs???
