Xperia XZ Package Installer problem - Sony Xperia XZ Questions & Answers

I have the following problem: when installing an APK, the Package Installer is stuck on the access list (which doesn't appear) and only the 'next' button appears, no 'install' button. Clicking 'next' does nothing, but the click registers. I'm on a stock XZ with Android 7.1.1, no display dimmers or other overlay apps. I have cleared the cache of the Package Installer, rebooted again and again to no avail. I'm really at the my wits' end. Thanks in advance!

What are you trying to install?

It doesn't matter what APK I try to install, none work. Except for fonts. No app or widget will install. Even those which worked a couple of days ago...

[Q] can't sideload apks after rooting

Nexus 5, 4.4.4, dalvik runtime. Currently on cyanogenmod 11, but this problem started prior.
I rooted my phone, initially to run xposed framework. I actually got it installed and opened, but I noticed I couldn't install any modules. Uninstalled, tried to reinstall, found I couldn't sideload any apks. Cancel button works fine, but install button does not respond to touch in any way.
Everything I have tried:
Rebooting
Unrooting/reflashing stock
Rerooting
Using various apk installers/file managers. They all still bring me to the install screen where I can't push install, so they're unless
Clearing caches (dalvik, package installer)
Making sure all screen filter apps are off
Making sure all security options are correct (do not verify app, allow unknown sources)
Flashing a new Rom entirely (cyanogenmod)
I'm at a loss. Are there any options left to try that may fix this?
First, root has nothing to do with your issues. When you say install button doesn't work, what install button are you taking about? And how are you trying to side load an apk? Are you using an app, recovery, or what?

Do you have echo lock screen notification installed?

Unfortunately I can't post an image of the install screen because I'm still a new poster. I usually just try to install apps by navigating to them in my file manager and clicking on them. Nothing special. The install screen is the default holo one that pops up.
Welp, turns out it was Echo Lockscreen. That's a massive bummer...loved that app! Thanks Pirateghost.

[Q] Downloaded APK's do not install

Hello,
So, I've recently bumped into this situation I would download an app's apk online but it won't install. I'm on CM 12S YNG1TAS17L. Downloading the apk is perfectly fine, but when I install the app, it just goes to a "app not installed" screen where I can only press on the "done" button. The 2 specific apps are SnapColors, an xposed module, and Mango, a manga app. I have no idea why these apps won't install all of a sudden. I would greatly appreciate any help given. These apps have worked perfectly fine before until an update came, and now, all apks not from the Google Play Store do no install.

Yeah, i do. I just ended up factory resetting and starting all over. However, when i did that, the nandroid backup i had caused a bootloop. any ideas why this would be?

What partitions did you restore with the nandroid? Did you fully wipe first?

Xposed framework : Unable to complete the download of modules

Hi,
Facing some weired problem with xposed. Using stock MM 6.0.1.
When trying to download any module via xposed, the download progeess bar complete its process but no install button is displayed to install the downloaded module.
What I tried :
1. Unchecked the option for greenifying system apps in greenify app and rebooted (of course).
2. Ensured that there is no such app which draws over another app by changing the app settings.
3. Cleared the cache and data for Android download manager (not the app but the default download manager, i mean the one which comes with the OS)
4. Checked the proxy settings of my WiFi network just to ensure that xposed is getting the Internet connection as and when needed without any blockages.
5. Checked system time and date.
Still no luck. Anyone has any clue about it? Am I missing anything? Any help would be appreciated.
Attaching logs with name "exposed error" which indicates there is some error but I can't figure that out on my own.
Also attaching the screenshots when I press the download button and screenshot of system info.

Cannot install apps on Mate 9

Problem Solved: Looks like the Dark EMUI Rev A/B theme was the culprit. Changed themes and all is right in the world
Lately, I haven't been able to install apk's directly from storage.
No problem with Google store or from 3rd party sources.
As you can see from the screenshot, what was the 'INSTALL' button is now 'NEXT' but nothing happens when I click on NEXT
Tried rebooting several times but the problem persists.
I've deactivated several systems apps. Maybe one of these interfered with proper installation?
Any suggestions are welcomed
Thanks!

(Sorry, cannot get the 'insert image' to work properly)
It's true that some themes will cause 'install' or 'next' button greyed when we try to install apk directly from storage.
Congratulation for your problem has been resolved.

Weird App behaviour after upgrade to 11

Hello
Info:
Updated recently to 11 using full factory image with wipe (with - w flag).
Rooted with Magisk (canary update channel, see images)
Patched clean boot file and flashed with fastboot flash boot magisk_patched.img
All good.
Problem: trying to open a .docx file from storage with M$ Word. Screen goes black and phone restarts. On first restart I get the dreaded "cannot load android system - try again or factory reset. Luckily try again does boot my phone.
Attempted solution: remove and reinstall word - click uninstall -" the app wasn't found in the list of installed apps" - see image.
Went to play store to reinstall - only have "open" button - when clicked, screen goes black and back to "cannot load android system" screen ?
Any ideas/advice much appreciated
Many thanks
*Update*
Couldn't resolve via normal methods -
Used App Inspector (UBQSoft) from playstore to see if M$ Word showed up in there and it did:
From there, clicked the cog wheel to go through to "App Info" screen and was able to successfully uninstall from there.
Installed the Office full suite as a work around and am now able to open the document as needed.
Any thoughts or info still appreciate - especially if anyone has had a similar bug, even with different apps.
Many thanks ?
Further Update
So, I've gone back to the same document about an hour after being able to open it - same prob, screen goes black, phone restarts to "cannot load android system - try again or factory reset"
Tried open again from within Files,
got message "none of you apps can open this file"
I have office installed - see images.
I think I'm going to go back to Android 10 - this is quite the inconvenience for the time being
Not sure if it's 11, Magisk or kernel (using the latest EXKM)
but it's system UI that keeps crashing - I cleared out storage and cache as I am currently unable to uninstall Office, even via App Inspector.
*Solved*
Removed one of my Outlook/Micro$oft accounts to which Word and Office were both previously syncing - removed Office via playstore Uninstall button and rebooted phone.
Tested opening the same document both from Files, SolidExplorer and from within Word, opens for editing no probs and performs as expected.
Root and EXKM still installed and fine.
Sorry for multiple updates, just thought it might be useful for anyobe with similar issues.
