confused on battery life - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy Note5

I'm running the latest 7.0 Nougat on my Note 5 just as a background if anyone asks.
I can't tell if I have battery issues or not but I'm trying to track it. I took the follow screen shots. The two you see where my battery is around 8% and then the recent one is from a short time ago. Basically I let my battery drain completely to recalibrate it, charged up to 100 and am now using it. Now I feel it's still off. Can anyone determine from my pictures what's going on or if my battery life seems off? Thank you in advance for your help.

[Q] High display %

Hi guys
I have a galaxy s2 and im having problems with the battery. In the battery usage section the most that takes up the energy from the battery is the display. Even lowering the brightness settings the display is still sky high. Now having flashed it few times the warranty has now gone. Tried different roms and still the display on my galaxy is like 45 to 55 percent. Some say its normal some say its not. Once i fully charge the phone within minutes the battery starts getting drained. Seriously what is wrong with it and what can i do to resolve it. Im past my month that i could send the phone back and samsung obviously will find out its been tampered with ie me flashing it
Is there anything i can do to solve the problem with firmware or am i stuck with a faulty phone and just make the most of it till something else comes along?
Any help or ideas will be appreciated

The battery might be dying. How old is the battery? Li-ion batteries will work for 3 years or so only regardless of whether you used it or not.
The display might be taking up so much battery because that's how you use the phone. ie you don't use much of other battery heavy stuff. Make sure you have a low timeout for battery as well.

The display battery usage will be relative to how much screen on time you have. If you are having problems with how long your battery lasts, download BetterBatteryStats (from my sig) and run it for 24 hours or so then check the wake locks to see if any rogue apps are draining your battery.
If you want to return the phone. You can always flash the stock rom and if you buy a USB jig from ebay, you can reset the counter, so Sammy shouldn't know that you have flashed any roms.
For further tips about your battery, why not look at some of the custom rom threads, like Villainrom. They have very good battery stats and there are plenty of tips in the thread.
Hope this helps
well i have it charging at the moment and i am using cognition rom and the phone is like sleeping as we saying. i quickly went into battery usage and display is like 85 %.
Shall i charge it to the max calibrate it then wipe battery stats and let it drain out till its empty fully charge it and then use it till the end of the week and then post a picture of how it went for you guys to see and you give me your ideas on it?
thanks again i really appreciate your opinions
I have never bothered calibrating my Battstats, but it makes some people feel better.
As I said above, the percentage used by display is relative.
If your phone has been on for 24 hours since charge and your display is 85%, then you have a major problem, as your screen on time must be massive.
However if it is 10 minutes since charge and the display is 85% then that probably equates to a few minutes screen on time.
Once you are charged. Run the phone for as long as possible then post screenshots of the Battery Usage (both pages)

Agreed with killall. Battery stats are relative. Say you have used your for ten minutes after charging and the screen was on for 5 minutes or more, an 85% for display is nothing big.
Like he said, see the overall performance of the battery and its life. Display percentage doesn't make that much of a difference if you use your display a lot. I mean if you don't do much CPU intensive gaming or stay connected to wifi and stuff.

Very curious quirk On Android Open Kang Project ROM... Near Unlimited Battery!!!!

hi all...
soo after my comments over a week ago on the aokp website for this build, i decided afterall to take the plunge and update. i was on b26, so subsequently had to flash b27 and then this. everything has gone absolutely swimmingly with no issues at all so far....
HOWEVER>>>>>
I am faced with a very puzzling quirk. its by nooooo means a problem at all, infact it quite the opposite!!! let me explain.
i've started charging my phone in the evening these days for some stupid reason and then, when charged taking it off and going to bed. After getting this milestone on, my battery has been killed over night, draining to around 15%. Normally, it would drain to around 70% and be flat by the end of the day ready for charging again.
This continued for a few days when i decided to root out the cause of the massive overnite idle drain. I installed a fantastic free app called Badass Battery Monitor (which i highly recommend btw!), and over a period of a couple of days the offending app was weeded out. It was Nova Launcher. This had never happened to me before and couldn't understand it. So, as part of my diagnostics, I decided to confirm the findings by removing it and just using stock.
Over a couple of days monitoring, with exactly the same charging method, my battery levels returned to normal drainage with around 75% battery left by the morning. Fantastic. I had found the problem fixed it and got back to normal. Soooo where is the quirk i here you say!!!? lol Well......
On average, from everything i've read in forums, battery drain overnight while phone in standby is around 20/30%, so mine WAS right up there with the majority of you.
Last night, i decided to charge to full and then wipe battery stats. Which i did. Now, bare in mind here that I ONLY have the standard battery that is supplied with the Galaxy Nexus. I got up this morning, and to my utter amazement, my battery had only drained 2%
Now been incredibly realisting here based on average overnight drains, i was 100% sure that this was deffo an error. I have done everything from restarting the phone, taking the battery out, but still the level in my battery was saying the same.
As I sit here writing this, I have been streaming a radio station via wifi on the phone for the last 2 hrs, and atm my battery is telling me that it is STILL 85% full.
I am DEFFO not complaining, but i'm sure now, you can see why the hell i am so puzzled! HOW THE HELL IS THIS HAPPENING, because i can genuinely find no explanation at all for it
as a follow up, it is now more or less 5 hrs since my orginal post, and my battery is reporting that it is 75% full
Jeesh, 20 to 30 idle drain overnight? My phone drains about 3 to 5 overnight which is typically 8 hours of sleep.

Interesting quirk. Are you a heavy or a light user? It'd be nice to see how it drains after a full drain and recharge.

well, to see if what was been reported was correct, i've been an absolute heavy user today. i have wifi on, ive streamed radio via internet for around 3 hrs, ive been playing all sorts of games and watched a few youtube vids. and my battery is atm reporting 74% life left
so here i am, STILL very very puzzled..
my battery life is just going and going with no signs of running flat... have a look at these screenshots and give me an explanation as to why i suddenly have a super battery!
MAYBE you really have a super battery or your mobile is glitched and shows the battery like that due to laG?
I'm on miui and I lose 0% overnight. It just depends on the ROM, but 20-30% is ridiculous!

Your states do not seem super impressive. On most phones the screen is the biggest drain. You show 49% battery with a screen on of only 1 hour. After 33 hours you've only used your phone for 1 hour screen on. Thats VERY little.
I usually get 2.5-3 hours of screen on time for my galaxy nexus.

Thanks for the app recommendation! Been looking for something like it all day.
This will depend on ROM/Radio/Kernel user installed programs/sync etc but 2-6% is normal drain over night anyone with 20% needs to seriously look @ battery stats and work out what's causing wake locks.
Also not forgetting most phones need to bed in after a flash which can take 2-3 days before we see real battery info.

4.1.2 Jelly Bean battery HELP!!!

Hi! So I've been using this rom http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1782009 for about 3 weeks now and I'm very happy with it but I've noticed my battery has been really really bad! Here's a screen shot and this was on a full charge :\
I replied on the thread with the screen shot but no one answered.
If anyone can help I'd really appreciate it
You need to check in better battery stats and see if your getting a wake lock. Read on google or xda how certain wakelocks can be bad. You can isolate the app causing the wake lock by using better battery stats and then fix the situation. Also could be the rom but likely it's a wakelock. Once you fix your issue, it will be much better. You can get better battery stats at the market or here on xda. Best wishes.

I'm having the same problem with the same ROM, I just installed a few hours ago.
18.18: 99%, stopped charging.
18.26: 89% battery left.
18.31: 84% battery left.
18.46: 72% battery left.
18.49: 70% battery left.
Until now I have used stock 4.0.3, and never experienced anything like this. I did barely touch my phone during these 30 minutes. It still has S-ON, could this be why?

No, S-ON/S-OFF has nothing to do with battery life. In your case though, since you said you just installed the ROM a few hours ago, you need to do about 3 full charge cycles before you start worrying about your battery life.
Drain the battery right down (not completely dead though, 10% is enough), charge to 100% and repeat a few times. Then if you are still getting bad battery life you can start looking at what is actually draining the battery.

Bad Battery life or Bad Battery on Nexus 5 with 5.1

Hello,
I've searching for like 2 months about problems with battery life and Lollipop with nexus 5. I understand the issues but since it was released, i never had much problems with it. I used to have 2h SOT for like 40% battery or so.
My daily routine allowed me to reach home with a bit more than 50% battery with 2h SOT more or less. (a lot of messaging on viber/whatsapp)
But something changed since 1 and half months ago. I can no longer do the same and it seems that i have a CONSTANT battery drain. I remember when i unplugged my phone i would reach my workplace (1:30h after unplug) i would have like 2-4% less battery depending on the usage. Currently when i get out of home the battery is already at like 92% or more depending on the usage. If i let the phone stay idle all the time, i usally get home with 30-40% battery now. I'm already thinking that my battery has gone bad. This started to happen from one day to another and i never let the battery stay too much below 30% usually, but nowadays it's impossible to predict the battery life since some days it seems to drain more than others.
I've used some apps to monitor the usage but i really don't understand much about it and can't seem to find a pattern. I've already did factory reset with all Lollipop versions and i remember doing a KK regression for some hours but the drain seemed like it was still there (can't use KK on my nexus 5 anyway, it feels weird after Lollipop experience ) but i didn't even fully charged the battery as i remember. Anyway if it would be an app, there should be some kind of logging in battery stats which doesn't, and i can't think about anything else.
I finally gave up and decided to ask help here, since i don't know what else to do. I'm actually leaning towards getting a nexus 6 but after reading about so many issues (screen/battery life/burn-in) i'm not sure what else i can do with my nexus 5.
If anyone can give me a hint i'd be very grateful
PS: already tried Cataclysm ROM and using currently ElementalX kernel. I notice a bit better battery life with ElementalX but i think the pictures speak for themselves.
Judging by that constant drain with very little shown awake time I'd install Better Battery Stats and check for kernel wakelocks. I had a similar situation with a wake lock from using a wireless charger that did not show in the regular battery stats.

i already installed it before, but currently don't have it installed. I have Wakelock Detector app i can post a screenshot if helps
Installed Better Battery Stats, i'll post results tomorrow (battery at 19% already).
As promised, there's still some battery left but i didn't even use the phone today mostly... in days like these i should be over 70% as usual or maybe close to 80% that i remember.
Can't seem to find the cause
bump i guess
will some full discharge cycles fix this ? iirc that can make things worse.
I feel your pain...when I was on Kitkat, I'd get to work running just Waze and Pandora and my battery life would be at 80%. Installed Lollipop 5.1 and now half way through my trip (15 minutes of use) the phone shuts down with a dead battery. Maybe it's just a coincidence that my battery decided to give up the ghost at the same time I install 5.1, but I find that very odd...the phone is only a 1.5 years old...lithium battery's tend to last 2+ years and even then they don't fall off a cliff in terms of capacity. At this point I think I'll buy a new battery and see what happens, LG OEM are about $25 on Amazon.

Wakelock battery drain [Need Help]

Hello, guys!
I have a problem with my phone for the past few months and after clean flashing 7.0 Nougat it's still present.
My problem is that when I'm home, my phone drains not even few percent of battery. Specially when I'm sleeping, I can go to bed with 100% battery and wake up with 98-99%. BUT when I'm out, specially when I'm working since my work involves a lot of walking the battery just drains like hell and I mean like 7-10% per hour considering I don't even use the phone. Sometimes I will have 30min to an hour of screen-on time and after 10 hours of work I will be home with 15% of battery left.
Now I know that this is mostly to some rouge app that keeps my phone awake and drains my battery but I'm not really sure how to pinpoint it.
I will provide my stats from Bettertbatteystats and WakelockDetector if you guys can help me.
Thanks in advance!
Edit: I just want to explain that the straight line on the first picture with the batter drain graph is when I went home and left my phone on the table for about 3 hours. You can clearly see that the difference in battery consumption during my phone being in my pocket and on the table.
