Smartmanager drained battery - Galaxy S 4 General

Hi. Just wanted to give you guys a heads-up. Smartmanager absolutely destroyed my battery life, it kept my s4 lollipop from going to sleep/ woke it up constantly, android system was always the biggest consumer in the battery stats. So I removed it and rebooted my s4 and now it uses battery like one percent in couple of hours when idling :good:

"Smart" Manager: software created by your "friends" at Cheetah Mobile. It's a stripped down version of CleanMaster, and you are wise to remove it from your device.

[Q] Heavy battery drain issue - help troubleshoot

Of late, I have been having heavy drain of battery on my Atrix 2. I am running JB 4.1.2 (672.300.404.ME865.Retail.en.05). Trying to troubleshoot it (including recalibration) since the last few days without luck.
The symptoms...
- Sudden shut down - Have had 50%+ charge levels. Goes down to 5% and shuts down within minutes. (You can see the random drops in the charge levels in the pic)
- Completely drained out battery charges from above 40% when plugged in & charges to 100% in no time. (that 67% charge in the attachment is within 5 mimutes of power plug in)
Does the battery need a replacement?

Try changing battery... even i had same problem with Custom rom. Battery used to last only for 10 to 12 hours but now its more than 17 hours on JB 4.1.2 leak,,,,...Use stock rom. and remove any unncessesary apps and installl ROM again if u want :good:
How old is your Atrix 2? If over a year then battery surely begins to give lesser performance. Disable any other task killer / memory manager & just let OS do its thing. See if installing Media Scan disable from play helps & do not keep using random chargers, make use of original charger as received with phone. Finally see Better Battery Stats. It is said battery stats should never be wiped but see if it helps you and finally search for Apex's better battery life guide for many handy tips.
I disabled notifications, sync, froze higher wakelock apps & my battery life improved a bit but then it is no fun existing in a bare bones environment.

The phone is just about a year and half old. The drop in battery performance is just too drastic, sometimes it doesn't even last an hour after the charge. Will try to go back to original ROM and see if it improves else will probably have to go for a new battery pack.

Look like a battery problem to me its not the ROM but anyways turn off location services and wifi they are a big battery drainer
Use 2G when u dont need high speed.......
Try this app called Greenify https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.oasisfeng.greenify
(it helps to reduce wakelocks and improves your battery life)
 Let me know if it helped (btw chck your battery and see if its defected they are amny ways to chck it read up the forums )
i have the same problem whit any rom of 4.2. when the custom rom shows 5% i change to stock ics rom an that show me 45%

Think mine is clearly a battery issue. Replaced the battery with a new one yesterday and now the phone lasts 6 hrs at least on a single charge.
CM 10.1.3
I couldn't write to developer's forum so I'm asking here.
I've recently firmwared my AT&T A2 CM 10.1.3 and battery drains really fast! The previous build was CM 10.1 (25th of June). I wiped cache and dalvik cache and firmwared CM 10.1.3. At least 3 people report that thie batteries on this ROM drain slow.
What did I do wrong???

Battery life varies so much from user to user that it is impossible to answer your question without A LOT more information.
Go here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1179809
Download the app and follow the directions in the op. That and reading through that thread itself should tell you everything you need to know about what is using up your battery.
That being said, everyone has different habits and expectations when it comes to their battery. What one person says is good battery life, another will likely say is bad. So just keep in mind that there is not a right or wrong, just what is right or wrong for you.
If I had a dollar for every time I said that, I'd be making money in a very weird way.
Thank you fro your answer. When I used previous version of CM the battery lasted 3 days with minimal using and turning the flight mode at night on.
As long as I installed newer version with JBX kernel the battery lasts 20 hrs max.

[Q] Bizarre Battery Drain

Dear XDA Members,
I'm having some issues with the battery of my Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini. About 2 weeks ago, 2 phones in this house, a Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini and Huawei Ascend P7, started (quite simultaneously) to have battery issues. They both are on the stock rom and are not rooted. To sketch the degree of the issue: the Huawei had about 40% after 7 hours standby with 3 minutes screen on time. The Samsung lost 65% in one night just being idle.
At first we thought it were the phones that were having the issues, so we returned the Huawei to the shop (about 40 kilometers away). The people of the shop called yesterday, saying that the phone is lying in the shop for over 3 days now, still having 40% percent of battery. This made us think it was something with the antennas here in the neighbourhood.
In the mean time we had already bought a new battery for the Samsung (an original Samsung battery), and I have performed a factory reset. The battery still drains quite heavily when airplane mode isn't enabled. However, last night the Samsung still lost over 15% with airplane mode enable and all recent apps killed.
I completely lost track about what the issue can be. To me it seems that the fact that the phones started having issues at the same time is caused by an external factor. But in that case, I cannot explain the 15% overnight battery drain on the S4 Mini on airplane mode with a new battery. Should I return the Galaxy S4 Mini to Samsung to have it looked at and fixed, or should I try some other things first?
If anyone wants some more information about the issue or the devices, I'll happily provide it.
Thanks in advance!
Note: It is not my intention to root the S4 Mini or push settings to the limit to have 0% battery drain, I just want 1 or 2 days of battery life again, depending on the usage.
Edit: There are also a OnePlus One and Galaxy Gio being used in our house, who do not seem to have severe issues. This confuses me even more about the external factors (antenna failure?) that might be draining the battery. We all have the same provider...
There are many ways to save your battery life:_
some of them are as follows:---
***Go to recovery and clear cache this will help improve the battery.. Use clean master from play store, which will disable / stop unwanted apps, clear app cache.
***Try using Greenify
***I recommend GSAM battery monitor app from play store. It's very easy to understand and is very good at locating battery issues.

In settings>battery check your mobile network signal of last night and see if there is any app that is sucking your battery.
You should try greenify but you need root access.
Thanks for your answers. If the problems do not get solved I will indeed try some of those apps (I've used Greenify earlier, I know it's great )
I've monitored the apps draining the battery, and in fact there aren't many apps that use a lot of battery. It's mostly the screen or mobile radio active, which makes me think it's something antenna related.
I've spoken to my neighbour who is a customer of the same provider, and he indicated he has issues to since a few weeks. I mailed to my provider and see how things turn out
Thanks for your tips!

Yeah i also think the problem is in network quality, you should try another sim for some time and see the difference.

Having headaches with my battery life

So I'm getting pretty bad battery life on my Spring Galaxy S6 Edge. I got the S6 last week and I can still return it to Sprint and get a different phone. (I'm looking at the G4 right now). I've been reading almost every battery thread on XDA and reddit and I just can't figure out how to get better battery life. I'm running the latest stock software. I am not rooted. I've already tried a factory reset and disabled all unnecessary apps.
Right to the point, I get around 2~2.5 SOT on my phone usually with only Wifi on, low brightness, and location set to battery saving. Now, I'm happy with how the phone drains when I'm actively using it. I got about 50 minutes SOT of reddit, instagram, facebook, etc and it drained about 15%.
What I'm not happy about is the idle battery drain/screen off drain. On multiple occasions, I charged my phone to 100% and let it sit over night. I would almost always wake up around 90 or 91% with around 8-10 hours of sleep. Other times, the battery just drains at a crazy 5%/hour. How do I minimize idle battery drain? It's driving me crazy. I don't think this is a problem with the S6 specifically, as I had this problem with my M8 running lollipop before.
I look at CPUspy and it looks like my phone is going to deep sleep around 60% of the time. I'm would like that number to be higher, but I'm entirely sure if 60% is good or not.
On GSam, I always notice that Android System and Kernel are top of the list. Not sure how to tame those. Other apps seem to be doing okay.
So I'm looking for tips and advice on how to make sure I'm getting the best idle drain without going into airplane mode. I know that if I get get idle drain down, then this phone or really any phone can last me all day and get 5-6 SOT. I also read somewhere that reflashing the firmware might help, but I'm trying to see all of my available options before I do so.
Thanks everyone!
EDIT: I'll also try to add screen shots after using it for a few hours!
You may have a defective battery. Return your S6 back to Samsung for warranty replacement.

Disable Location service when you don't need it, it drained lots of battery and install the above ver of Google Services will help battery. A new battery will take at least two weeks to completely optimize the battery.

Sorry, I don't buy that it takes two weeks to fully optimize the battery. I'm not going to take the chance and wait it up and hope it gets better when I can go back to the store and get a new phone.

Tips for newbie - battery life

Hey!
I am the owner of this phone for a few days, everything is almost perfect but there is one thing that bothers me much. I'm talking of course about the battery life. My previous phone was the Sony Xperia Z2 and on Z2 battery life was better than on S6, really. After one year of using Z2, battery was so great, that at the end of the day I have 40%, but... mobile Internet was always enabled, awesome. Today my S6 was in my pocket about two hours, mobile internet enabled, I took the phone to my hands and... 10% battery is gone, why? I don't know. Maybe wakelocks, but i don't want root my phone, not now. For a 3 days of using the phone, I could ONLY to use it up to four hours a screen on. For me, this is tragic. New phone, which can not stand whole day in the pocket.
I never have samsung, so I would ask for any tips which will allow me to extend battery life without rooting. I've read most of the guides on xda but most of them are such obvious things like turn off location services etc. Perhaps thre are things which I don't know.
Thanks guys for reply!

In battery settings, enter optimizing apps and change all apps to always optimizing! Use a dark or black theme like BlackSky or Weyo! Download package disabler pro app and disable bloats without needing root! Mobile data and WiFi use a lot of battery for this phone for unknown reasons or bugs.. And the S6 has $#¡tty battery life indeed! The battery will never be as good as the Xperias! Only 'compensation' is the super fast charging!
Enjoy your S6 and forget the battery issue as ultra powersaving is always here! At 1%, UPS helps for an extra 4-6 hours!!

Thank you so much i'ill enjoy this phone, but you know, my eyes are always on this %
I'm at somewhat of a loss on what to think about battery life on this phone. It seems inconsistent from model to model in my limited experience. I had an at&t sgs6 - 920A. I gave it to another employee so I could get a 920F international with unlocked bootloader. I should state that I'm now rooted but prior to rooting the 920f everything was identical from phone to phone. I used smart switch to backup and restore. App optimizations ran over a week or so and after all was said and done, this international version seems to have a lot less battery than the at&t version. It wasn't at&t's software either because I had it all disabled with package disable app. Instead of having 50-60% at the end of the day I now have 30-40%. Not really sure what's going on...

Battery life is worse on Nougat

Is it just me or is battery life worse on nougat?
Did you do a factory reset after updating?
Back up your data and do it. Use the Recovery Mode (Phone off -> Hold power / Vol Up and Home Key) and wipe Cache/Factory Reset.
If possible install everything fresh and don't use backups (except for messages etc of course). Especially on an Exynos model of the S7 Nougat's battery life should roughly equal or be better than Marshmallows, Snapdragon also, but since i don`t live in the US, i can't verify, since the majority of my friends and myself use the Exynos version.
Also check your apps for wakelocks and the like. Disable/uninstall apps not needed (for example if you don`t use Samsung VR/Gear, deactivate it. It will help improving battery life).
Other than that, enjoy nougat
I did a fresh install and battery life is horrible.
I am facing this too on the exynos variant after updating to Nougat via OTA. BTW what does formatting have to do with fast discharge after update? I mean it shouldn't make any difference.
try changing mode
is it possible that you might be constantly in high performance mode?
as it increases screen resolution and backlight , might be the cause of battery drain.
I've gone up from 5 to 5.5 hours SOT on MM, to 6 to 6.5 SOT on N. Should definitely be better.
Make sure you turn off all the junk like smart stay and gesture sensor crap.
I feel nougat battery life is better either.

My battery life is a JOKE after the upgrade (via ODIN) to Nougat. I did flash HOME_CSC to keep all my data. I've disabled all the extra settings, knocked the resolution down to 1920x1080 and made sure it's on optimized performance. I've also put every non-essential app to sleep mode. I do use my phone more than average, but I haven't gotten a whole day's battery yet. It also is back to burning 5-10% overnight night on cell standby that it wasn't doing with 6.0.1!!
I love the look and feel, but this isn't worth it for me. I use TrueCaller, so I don't need the advanced call blocking. I use Nova Launcher, so there's that. I haven't found another major advantage yet to outweigh the bogus battery life.
I'm going to wipe the whole phone and restore only text messages and see how that goes this weekend. :crying:
try reseting all app permissions by going to :
settings> applications> click on the 3 dots on top right> click reset app preferences.
now restart ur fone and enjoy the awesomness of nougat !
*please not that this trick will only benefit people who are having high android os or system drain by default ( or since the install of nougat), which could be caused by nougat new permissions conflicting MM.
Battery life idle drain had increased for me in nougat. Now get 4.5 hrs earlier never got below 5hrs sot.

WOW I just can't believe how bad battery life is on Nougat. It has similar battery life with AOSP based ROMs that are early in their development. I was hoping that either the reports are not true but not only they are true but I wish I could show everybody how bad it is. I will flash Marshmallow back and stay there until this mess gets fixed. This is seriously scary, I can't believe they released the firmware at this state. Even more I hope they will eventually bother to fix it because something tells me they won't.
How bad it is for you? For me its bretty good. Today i put my phone to charge on 1% battery left. Before that i look battery usage. 49h online and 5h31min sot. I only use 4g not wifi
Sent from my SM-G930F using XDA-Developers Legacy app
I have atleast 6-8% draw per hour with it being in my pocket without any radios on or doing anything at all. This is a disaster. I flashed back MM and Ithink I'm gonna stay here. TBH I didn't like the changes in Nougat. I thought I would but I didn't. There are alot of stuff that make no sense to me but having a terrible battery life on top of that it's a deal breaker.
EDIT: Oh did I mention that this draw is with PSM on? Without it it's even worse!
Also I feel that PSM on Nougat is inferior to MM. It makes no sense.
Even worse is UPSM, the MM equivalent was better.
Ugh, I just really wanted to like Nougat but I'm so dissapointed.
Hi, I have G930T US t mobile variant of gs7, t mobile is pushing update cant turn it off. Last time when i had PG1 update battery life was awesome! at least 2 days of normal usage, after PK1 update phone was getting hot and battery became lasting for only 1 day! It is loosing power when i am not touching the phone average 5 persent in standby. So i am hoping after nougat my 2 day happiness of battery life comes back.....
Back on MM and battery life is day and night difference. It can't be on my mind. Went for jogging for a bit over an hour with music playing and it just went 1% down.
G930T. Yesterday updated to Nougat, after PK1 Nougat defenately wins in battery life. Phone is not getting hot, stable battery. After update battery was 70% so i got 23 hours of normal usage calls texting facebook + AOD with 70% battery. Perfect!
I am terribly disappointed at nougat. The battery drain at MM was 1 procent during 5 hours (!!!) with some tweaks but nougat is totaly crap.
I have 2 procent every hour with nougat at standby and after I have deleted a lot of bloat.
But I have a problem. When I go back to marshmallow by flashing via ODIN I cannot hear sound during calls. Why?
Also having battery issues since the Android OS update. My battery usage indicates 'Android System: 21%' and 'Android OS: 15%' which seems abnormally high. Have tried the 'reset app permission' solution that has been suggested and see how it goes.
This is very disappointing as I just got my S7 and had been enjoying great battery life until the Android OS update. Is there a consensus on a solution/any indication from Samsung as to a fix?
Thanks.
If you have battery issues try to disable Chrome and use the Samsung browser or Opera Mini or pretty much any other browser. Chrome is a battery waster of gargantuan proportions under Nougat for me. Only using another browser wasn't enough for me, I had to disable it in the settings.
Thanks. Actually Chrome hasn't been giving me problems. It seems that the 'reset app permissions' trick worked (OS and System items in battery usage window are back down to 2-4% which is as it was).
Thanks for help.
