Help please :crying: I just bricked my phone and I am not able to unbrick it . First , it requires you to install adb driver but I didn't not enable usb debugging before the brick . And I cannot flash the factory image . Any ideas how to unbrick without enabling usb debugging ?

What exactly did you do with the phone?
you don't need USB debugging to flash stock images. Your phone just need to be able to boot into fastboot and have the bootloader unlocked.
What happens when you press/hold power button for 20 seconds?
USB debugging is an ANDROID setting therefore only works or applicable when you are booted into Android

My phone is stuck at boot animation
I am in a dire need to your help. i just got my phone to stuck in the boot animation. This is what happened
i had a nexus 5 for 6 months, it was rooted and had xpose framework installed. Yesterday i updated my xpose app to the latest and installed an xpose module "Call blocker". but after one day use, i realized that it was making my nexus slow and i was suffering from low performance. So today i decided to uninstall this app, by going into settings>apps>call blocker and uninstalled it from there. Just after that i rebooted by phone, but it got into the boot loop (reboot after finishing the boot animation).
This is what is already tried:
I downloaded the nexus 5 image from google and extracted it. I flashed all the stock images (from bootloader) but now my phone is stuck at boot animation. i also installed CWM recovery and formatted system, data, cache and all options that were available, after that i flashed it again with stock images, but still stuck in the boot animation (circles keep on spinning forever).
Please guide me... I can't think of any more ways

did you wipe data and cache with stock recovery after flashing?

Are you sure you have flashed all the stock images? If so, then head to the stock recovery and perform a factory reset and then reboot. It should boot up.

Another newb that doesn't know the difference between fastboot and ADB, two of the MANY things you should be well-versed in before tinkering. Please head over the general forum and read the stickies.

Thank you for all your support. I was able to restore my phone back to normal. What i did, after flashing the stock images, and I rebooted my phone to recovery and wiped the user data and cache. Although i tried if previously but i don't know why i didn't work than. May be, it only works just after the flashing of new/stock rom. Anyjow its good now. thank you for the support
Thumbs up XDA :good::laugh:
Ok here's what happened. I am rooted running Slim Kat with CWM recovery installed. I decide to install TWRP using their app. When I booted into recovery, I got the TWRP splash screen, but the phone immediately rebooted. No recovery. I flashed CWM back using ADB. I was able to get into recovery from fastboot, but once I rebooted into the ROM, I couldn't get back into recovery again! Well, I said screw this! I had been thinking about flashing the factory stock lollipop ROM image, so I guessed this was as good a time as any. That process went well. Flashed lollipop images with ADB . Booted up. Everything fine. Set everything up. Tried to go into recovery. I have no recovery. Pressing Vol up & power buttons just reboots phone. Tried flashing CWM again. It flashed fine and phone will go into recovery from fastboot, but if I boot into ROM, and then try to go back into recovery — no recovery! I extracted the stock recovery from the image and flashed that. Same thing! I am out of ideas! Help!

With Lollipop it will install stock recovery after every boot. You can just boot twrp/cwm and flash SuperSU, that should fix your problem. If it doesn't delete /system/etc/recovery-from-boot.bak and you should be fine

Correction.
Thanks! Looks like I was making 2 mistakes!
1. Had the button sequence backwards for stock recovery. It's hold power button down, then Vol up, release. I was holding power and Vol up simultaneously.
2. Didn't know that about lollipop. That explains why recovery kept "disappearing“.
Sometimes, trying to figure this stuff out at 3 am is not a good idea.
Still don't know why I had the problems with TWRP on Kitkat.

Probably because you will have flashed 2.8.2.0 which doesn't work for most people. Try 2.8.1.0 and you'll be fine

As a matter of fact , it was 2.8.2.0.

I think this above post need to be emphasized. TWRP 2.8.1.0 solved all my problems.
With TWRP 2.8.2.0, I spent hours trying to figure out how to make recovery stick, even after rooting with CF Auto root, and the SuperSU BETA from Android L, AND after deleting the recovery-from-boot.p files and the install_recovery.sh files. It just would not load TWRP 2.8.2.0, using either "fastboot flash recovery twrp.img" OR "fastboot boot twrp.img". Either - it would reflash stock recovery (if I didn't properly delete the recovery script files), or, it would show the TWRP boot screen for a second or two, and then boot android normally! Every time!
As soon as I used 2.8.1.0 and retried "fastboot boot twrp2810.img" from a stock reflash, it worked without a hitch. Here are the steps I used to upgrade using fastboot from 4.4.4 to Android L (Euphoria ROM)
reboot into tWRP recovery in 4.4.4
Factory reset
Format system
Format userdata
Format cache
Reboot into bootloader.
fastboot flash bootloader with Android lollipop version. Reboot the bootloader
fastboot flash radio with Android Lollipop version. Reboot the bootloader
fastboot flash boot (stock lollipop). Reboot the bootloader
fastboot flash recovery (TWRP 2.8.1.0). Reboot the bootloader
fastboot flash system (stock lollipop)
fastboot flash userdata (stock lollipop)
fastboot flash cache (stock lollipop)
***Now, here it's really important not to boot into android!!!!
instead of trying to boot recovery from the fastboot menu, and just to be extra careful I did
fastboot boot TWRP2810.img (to boot directly from the img in my platform-tools folder)
Then when I was in TWRP I used the sideload option and did:
ADB sideload BETA-SuperSu-v2.39.img to load root onto my phone.
Then I restarted into Android for the first time and as soon as I got there,
I downloaded root explorer (or ES file explorer - and enable root options in the ES file explorer menu)
deleted /system/recovery-from-boot.p
delete /system/bin/install_recovery.sh and the other file in the folder which is a shortcut with the same name (probably overkill but I wasn't taking any chances).
Then reboot into bootloader - and pick recovery - and hopefully, if all went well - voila, TWRP will properly boot.
Here you can easily sideload Euphoria OS (or other) and the Bpear Gapps (or other) and away you go.
You can also flash franco kernel or whatever.
Now, your root should stick, and TWRP should stick.
Thank you GrenW for pointing out the importance of using 2.8.1.0 instead of 2.8.2.0!!!
How do I stop my stock recovery from flashing it self again I've custom recovery ? This is causing me great problems!/

You may want to contact the developer of the recovery. Otherwise do a factory reset.

Flash custom recovery with the phone in fastboot mode and use the fastboot menu buttons to boot into the newly flashed recovery. Do not let the phone reboot.

Did that ! This is the only time when recovery works. And after the reboot again stock recovery. What do I do now?
Sent from my XT1033
If you are rooted, you may need to rename the stock recovery by adding .bak to the end recovery file name, boot to fastboot, flash recovery, and reboot to recovery. This is what I had to do with my Motorola Atrix HD. I have an xt1032 and never had to rename the recovery file.
Which recovery are you using? Because on cwm, if you flash on stock the first time you reboot it asks you whether to prevent the stock recovery from overwriting it. Even Philz has a setting to disable that from happening, I think.

I flashed both the roms philz and cmw but neither of them asked me to not flash the stock recovery again!/
Please guide me through this coz u do not want to brick this phone!

This usually happens on non-rooted devices. Have you rooted your device? If not, flash Philz from fastboot and boot into recovery directly after flashing. And now flash SuperSU through philz and reboot. Problem should be solved

I have no idea how to stop flash recovery to stop flashing itself. Maybe contact the devs of the mod and see what they can do.
I've done ****ed up,
i found some free time to update my cataclysm rom from 5.0 to the latest 5.1 version.
ive finished everything and all was good, but i wanted to theme it before my gf arrives.
now i've searched for a cataclysm black theme and flashed one that said it is for stock & cataclysm.
now when my phone boots up it shows the boot animation and then it shows only black screen.
i haven't made a backup nor do I have the cataclysm rom on my phone cuz I dumbass deleted it imediately after installing it.
any ideas how to dirty flash the rom witout booting up the phone? adb?
Can you boot into recovery. If do, if you have twrp, just copy the rom from your pc to the device and dirty flash the rom. Latest twrp supports mtp.

I've managed to push the rom via adb and installed it in twrp, but somehow im stuck in a bootloop now, i've dirty flashed the rom but it won't boot up
