Camera issue (not always) - ONE Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I am having a problem with my camera.
Sometimes my pictures are divided in two, one side is darker then the other.
Here a normal picture:
and an other picture taken a few minutes later but with mentioned issue:
You can clearly see that the right side of the picture is darker than the left.
Already tried several Camera's, but they all give me this problem. I am using LineageOS 7.1.2.
Friend of my who has the same OPO and is running on Cyanogen 5.0 is having the same issue.
Wonder if there is some fix for this

Tried clean flashing through fastboot? AFAIK,this is purely a sw problem.

Awesome, i'm not the only one with this problem...
I thought my phone got damaged in a drop or something. Mine has always been and since half a year or something I sometimes get this from the phone rear camera.

[Q] Front camera is broken?

Hey guys,
My front camera on my transformer just started to act funky. The front camera no longer works and only shows a green screen/other weird artifacts. I've used the front camera to video chat before and it was working fine. Anyone have any ideas as to what is wrong? Should I RMA it?
Android: 3.0.1
Kernal: 2.6.36.3-00004-g069b8b5 [email protected]#1
Build Number: HRI66.US_epad-8.2.3.13-20110511
Any ideas?
Did you try going into your settings->applications and force closing the camera app and maybe clearing the data. It seems like it might be a software issue. Try that and see if it fixes your problem.

I definitely think it is a software issue. I thought they stated that it was fixed in the .13 update, but obviously not. While in the camera app try switching from the front camera to the rear several times. That used to fix it for me when this happened. I have not had it in some time, at lease not since the last update.
Does it mean anything if I don't hear the mechanical click of the camera switching back and forth? I hear it when it switches to the back camera, but not to the front? I've already tried to switch it back and forth multiple times, all I get is artifacts.
Things I've tried:
Factory Reset
Clearing camera data and force stopping it
Switching back and forth between front and back multiple times
Another thing to note is that the camera was working AFTER I updated to the latest firmware. I only just noticed it doing this the past day. I'm debating on RMAing it because I don't really use the camera much, but it would be nice to be able to web chat with my girlfriend once in a while with my tablet. I have another tablet coming in today. Depending on the shape of this one, I may or may not decide to RMA.

My front camera works and I only get the click when switching to the back as well.
Good luck, one way or another I hope you get it to work/replaced.
I definitely would not live with it though. I did not think that I would use it all that much, but I have found myself chatting with family a couple times a week on it, its very handy.

So the tablet that came in today is like near perfect condition. No creaking, no alignment issues, the camera works after updating to latest firmware (will have to keep an eye on this) and NO backlight bleed. I'm going to just return the other one. Walmart returns should be easy.

Camera problem help!!!!!

My camera is weird, sometimes it will work (tried roms, kenals, camera mods, fixes you name it) This is what happens when it works, fine in one area like my house for example, go out, come back then it crashes. Looked all over this thread and like i said tried everything. Or have i missed something. For the love of God, what IS going on?.......................
What ROM's have you tried with it?
Not sure what the problem is exactly. Might be a hardware fault if it occurs on different ROM's.
Have you tried using another SD Card?
Maybe some big temperature differences between outside and in the house?
That was just an example, It will work one minute then crash the next, then nothing. different SD card makes no difference

Hi,
So, you are saying that no matter which ROM you are running, you are having camera problems?
That sounds like an hardware issue, and you should consider returning the phone...
i have suspected hardware, but why does it work on occasion? Not working at moment btw. But did three days ago, no problem. Went out for a bit, phone in me pocket, came home. Camera, snafu
Latest on camera problem. Fixed!!!
Here's what you do..
1. Find a hard surface
2. Hold phone in your thumb and first finger (important! face down)
3. Your phone needs to be approx six inches above hard surface (face down)
4. Drop the 'kin thing square on flat on surface
Voila!! Camera fixed
IMPORTANT NOTE!
It worked on mine probably because of hardware problem,
If you try it and it phux your phone it's not my fault,

Galaxy S6 Camera Randomly Makes Loud Buzzing Sounds?

Hi all,
I wasn't able to find any threads related to this in the S6 forums but I wanted to see if anyone else has this. When I open my camera app, sometimes the camera takes 1-2 seconds to initially focus and during that time it makes a loud buzzing sound. It sounds like a focus motor or something in the camera and the camera output on screen flutters while it focuses. Once it focuses, everything is normal and it doesn't make any more noise to refocus. This also doesn't happen every time I open the camera app, seems mostly random. Has anyone else experienced this? I am already on my 2nd S6 since the first was defective for different reasons and I'm starting to get very disappointed with Samsung quality control.
I have the dame problem.
I don't know if this is normal.
I don't think so
Waiting for some explanations

going to bumps this too because after having the phone for a month this problem has just started to show its face.
I've first noticed a small buzzing just after a boot for 3/4 times and than I had a long one opening the camera. After that it's gone...
I have it also! Started a couple of days ago. I have dropped my phone a couple of times. What about you?
Had this happen for the first time today also. Had hdr off, switched back on and it went away. Coincidence? Phone never dropped.

Try to clean up your camera lens.
Did your device take some damage in the past?
Did you take it underwater? (The S6 isn't waterproof anymore...)

But it's not that loud.
Otherways, you can't record videos properly, because the microphone records those sounds.

Same problem here since last week.[emoji26]
I tried hard reset and another camera app (Google photo), nothing work.
I think it's a hardware problem, it occurs after shaking the phone and launching the camera.
I feel that the OIS makes more noise when app is off.

This started happening with my S6 today. I think it's the OIS that poops out. I can make this happen with a light tap with my finger on the backside of the phone with the camera open and using the rear camera. And this happens with all camera apps: Samsung's bundled camera, Snap Camera and Camera FV-5.
Update: ..and just as sudden this started happening, it went away again. I hope it's a bug - with a fix in 5.1.1.
Update 2: No, it didn't go away. It comes and goes. I may need to take the phone to the service centre.
Mine has gotten worse. Almost every time I open the camera now, I have the buzzing.
Just checking in to say that mine started doing this, too, about four weeks after getting it. It does it randomly when I open Snapchat, too.
I am having this problem too on the Sprint version sometimes it is pretty loud. I'm planning on taking to service center I think.
I also get the waves before it focuses. I read on another forum that someone said they went to a Samsung service center and Samsung replaced their OIS sensor so I'm guessing this may not be something that is simply part of the design.
*Update #1*
I just got off the phone with Samsung customer service. The representative actually heard the buzzing from my phone over the phone while I was talking to her. Since the phone is still under factory warranty they are emailing me a shipping label to send the phone back for repair.
I also have Asurion insurance through Sprint but do not want a refurb for a phone that is less than a month old with no damage caused by me.
Unfortunately the turn around time from Samsung is about a 5 business days and that was after they told me 9-11 days in which I said I couldn't be without a phone that long.
So, I plan on going to Sprint to see if they will swap out my phone for a brand new one. I think if it is a manufacturer defect they will replace the phone without going through insurance for a refurb but I am not positive. It they won't swap it out for a new one I will go through Samsung.

Yes it appears to be hardware related.

I tried and initially it doesn't seem to happen when the mega pixels are lowered but I haven't tested extensively.
I went to Sprint today and the technician concluded that he was ordering me another phone so definitely seems hardware related.

SM-N915F takes long time for the camera to focus.

Hi , I've just purchased a note edge SM-N915F.
The problem is that the camera takes quite some time to focus.
Maybe it takes 1-2 minutes to focus.
Sometimes just an instance.
Is there any issue or things i can do?
Did you buy it through official channels? If so, return it. If not, I would download a 5.1.1 rom to flash with Odin.

Will downgrading the rom stabilize it ? I got it from an SME , a 3rd party shop.
Yes, yes it will. I am in the middle of doing what I suggested to you, for the same reason. goto this link http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/download/69273/N915FXXS1CPD3_N915FOLC1COJ2_XME Then find Odin and USB Drivers if you don't have them already. I am not going to give a tutorial on Odin.

I could always be wrong but I'm 99.99% sure that changing your firmware isn't going to help, the camera module itself is most likely what's causing the problem because it's a pretty common issue with this phone. Mine started doing it the exact same thing about a week after my warranty expired (go figure), so I've basically just dealt with it because I've been too lazy to order a new camera module and replace it.
What happens is the auto stabilizer inside the camera module will stick from time to time instead of moving freely like it should, and it might sound barbaric but here's something you can do to test if it's your problem (and to speed up the focusing until you can get it fixed).. When you first open up the camera app while it's not focusing.. smack the phone onto the palm of your hand (or just give it a good shake) and it'll focus instantly.
If it does then you know for sure that it's hardware related and changing the firmware isn't going to do anything, and until you can get it fixed at least you can make it focus instantly instead of waiting almost 2 minutes every time! This is what I've been doing anyway and it has made it bearable at least, hope it helps!

jeep447 is correct!
Your phone is fine, nothing wrong with it. The phones camera is just not that great. I have found it better on some roms then others. Also 3rd party camera apps sometimes focuses better than stock app.

Overheating issues

Hi, first of all sorry for my english
I have the one plus for about a year now and never have a problem but since a month ago the phone started to show a yellowness in the top left corner and it gets extremely hot when I'm watching YouTube or even when using Instagram. I'm pretty sure its a hardware issue but I want to know if someone know if there is a way to fix it.
Also I have tried a lot of rooms official, unofficial, sultan, darkobas, omni, slim, COS12/13 and non of them seems to have a differences in my problem
I will add some photos of it later.
