I have problem with more encoded Opus track in MKV container with MX Player Pro (tested with Android 5 and 6)
one example with problem: OPUS 224Kbps VBR
( another without problem to compare: Opus 192Kbps VBR )
I not know english word to explain audio effect.. it's a vibrate each 2sec for less 0.5sec.
I not reproduce the problem if enable HW OPUS audio codec (but HW not support 5.1).
No problem on MPC-HC or VLC with PC.
I reproduce the same probleme with KODI on Android 5
I add this new MKV test file with x264 video (not all device can read x265 for test)
MKV x264-OPUS 224kbps VBR
-VLC can read without problem on Windows and Android (but not found other player can read without problem this x264 mkv)

It looks like a FFmpeg side issue & the latest version also has issues. That's why the issue is there with KODI.
Probably VLC might have implemented some workarounds.
The issue is forwarded to our developer team & they are looking into the issue.

It looks like a bug on mkvmerge or ffmpeg.
We will add a workaround on the next version which can be enabled optionally.
Hi,
for the update
- https://github.com/mbunkus/mkvtoolnix/issues/2099
- https://trac.ffmpeg.org/ticket/4178
after extract opus track with ffmpeg, and add it with ffmpeg, it's GOOD.
I not understand all word in explanation, but initial opus track is not very good (even if reading has no problem)
If mxplayer can read without problem it's good; but if I correct my file it's better.

We will add a workaround for this. But, it is not supposed to be used for all audio tracks. So, it will be made as optional.

Hi Devs,
I have custom codecs installed in my MX player and I have no issues playing local files with aac audio. But when I play a hls stream with aac audio, the sound is disabled by default. In order to enable the sound I should manually open sound menu and tick the checkbox of "use software decoder" and select the audio steam. As this doesn't happen for local files I believe it should be a bug. Let me know if you need any more info.
Regards
Edit : I checked again and noticed my local file audio codec is AC-3 and network steam codec is AAC. So they are not having the same audio codec. May be the problem is AAC audio codec. My device is nexus 10 running stock android lollipop.
I'm having this same problem (with version 1.7.33, could not make 1.7.34 work) both with local (SD) and network (NAS) versions of the same files. All audio will work however if I turn the S/W audio decoder switch on. See my thread about the problem here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/apps/mx-player/aac-h-decoder-version-1-7-33-t2955189 .
My problem with AAC (streamed from a NAS) has been solved with published version 1.7.34 without the need of any special setting, thanks to devs for fixing it!
The problem has been resolved for me as well Thanks devs.
Hello,
I use MX player on MXQ S85 Android TV Box. It is working very well except audio stream changing, even I can click on the other language audio available, it keeps playing sound in first language when movie started...
I have tried with different files, it is always same problem. Other video players doesn't meet this issue. I would like continue use MX player because H265 files are well played.
Thank you

Sorry I did not put infos about it... apparently it is due to DTS ... The first stream is played well but it seems dual channel DTS makes troubles:
Video is Codec : H264 - MPEG-4 AVC (part 10) (avc1) Résolution : 1920x1058
Two streams are DTS and the second can't be played is DTS 1509 Kbps
Is it enough info ?
Thanks !

Probably your device may not have native dts decoder. Kindly use custom codec from the sticky post. When you use custom codecs you can play ac3 or dts tracks even if it's not natively supported by your device. But, the disadvantage is the 5.1 audio will be downmixed to stereo

But the first stream is in DTS and is well played and detected on my speakers system so it is not the device. I have found another video player who can also play both stream in DTS but I would prefer use MXplayer... :silly:
hello,
I might buy the Galaxy S8 Plus ( Snapdragon Model ) soon but need to make sure it can play an h.264 10-bit video using hardware decoding.
name of the video: [1080p][16_REF_L5.1][FLAC_5.1]Suzumiya Haruhi no Shou****su BD OP.mkv
this is a link for the sample video:
https://www.koi-sama.net/files/hi10/
I really appreciate the help, thank you.
I tried them on my Verizon 8+ and get "unsupported video codec" using the default video player.
I have not tried d/l VLC or an alternative to see if that works, it may.
could you please check using mx player h/w+ or h/w
MX Player hw+ doesn't seem to have a problem with any of the sample video decoding, got a complaint about unsupported audio (AC3) on one of the files though.
thank you for your help, I just purchased the phone ( G955U ) and it isn't working on hw+, is there a Rom or kernel you are using?
I'm using bone-stock as provided by Verizon, with all current system updates.
Videos d/l to local SD card and played off that from within MX Player. I noticed some traffic where spawning video playback via file explorer may not work in some cases so I opened the file directly in MX.
The MX Player I used was the free edition, freshly installed.
I have since bought MX Player Pro, and of course it works on my device.
System performance settings are at the default, no tweaking so far (phone is 4 days old).
Good luck, sorry I don't have more help to offer, still new with the device.
thanks for all your help, I really appreciate it.
If you haven't installed their codec pack, get it. I think it will fix your problems: MX Player Codec (ARMv7 NEON)
hello, tried it and didnt work, it does run 4k hevc 10-bit using hw but cant run h.264 10-bit unless I use sw (works well but fast battery drain).
thank you
Runs smooth and without problems or lags with the mx Player pro with the sw decoder. The hw decoder doesn't Work.
i use hw+
along with a custom codec for ac3
Yep custom MX codec canm be found here on XDA forum - use search.
It's up to 1.9.0... Anything older will get an "update codec" message....
I tried but no luck, it works on sw only, what is your phone's model?
mine is G955U Sprint Unlocked. all other codecs work ( even hevc 10-bit 4k ) but h.264 10-bit is only working on sw.
How do you setup the custom codec for AC3 (I recognize I'm being lazy by just asking...but I have a headache...)?
For C0derbear
Put on root directory of phoner or sd card and start MX player. Go to settings, and select "custom codec at bottom of list in decoder settings. Select codec with browser it opens.
That's if it doesn't detect the custom codec and ask to use it.
It will restart to apply codec...
Sorry for bad english and not uploading logs.
I was playing x265 10bit videos with MX Player on X96 Amlogic S905X Smart TV Box.
Some video files are freezed after 1-2 minute of playing.
When I checked that videos with MediaInfo on PC, That videos are HEVC [email protected] with HDMV PGS Subtitles.
After I demuxed out PGS Subs and remuxed with SRT/ASS Subtitles, No more freeze.
But some x265 8bit files are stuttering. [Edited: x265 encoding commands are ref=8, b-adapt=2, ctu=32 and early-skip]
Only HW+/SW Mode can play it fine. But not as sharp as HW Mode.
And subtitles are delayed 1.3 second for every HEVC videos on HDD with HW Mode.
The last problem maybe because of Smart Box itself because playing from SMB Share with ES File Explorer is fine in HW Mode and HW+/SW Mode is fine on HDD too.
Thanks for reading.

Hi,
We need for bug report for both issues. You may just collect the bug report from MX Player immediately after reproducing the issue & save it in the storage. Later you can share the report from another device / PC. It will be better if you can share a sample clip that has issues.
regarding the first problem, do you have problems when you just remux it PGS sub?
Logs and more info

>> drive google com /open?id=0B7oDTHhlvusyZzhpbndSTlM5QlE << Here is the logs file. I can't find the buttom to attach so I uploaded to Google Drive.
And sorry again for unable to upload sample clips.
And just remuxing with PGS with mkvToolnix wasn't worked either.
I reproduced this problem on internal eMMC Storage and 1.3 second subtitles delay is still happening.
For more bugs,
Resume make subtitles out of sync for every HEVC and Skipping video just before fully loaded is cause that too.
mkv with HEVC video and Opus audio is stuttering/freezing in HW Mode and it is fine when I remux Opus audio with other H264 video and play it.
Thank you so much. :victory:
Dear MX Player community,
This video has track #2 in AC3 format (44.1kHz, mono). When I switch to this audio track it starts lagging (voice trebles, some sounds are dropped). I have tried enabling/disabling S/W decoder (Menu→Audio→Audio track→Use SW audio decoder), but it does not help. Perhaps it is related to the fact that both audio tracks are muxed with 1/2 stretch ratio into MKV container. Nevertheless AAC track #1 is played correctly. Both tracks are known to play correctly on Media Player Classic v1.7.13.112 (LAV Splitter v0.70.2.80) on Windows 7.
Is given AC3 track playing smoothly for anybody?
I use MX Player Pro v1.9.16 with ARMv7 NEON custom codec on Samsung Galaxy S5.
The issue might be related to this thread, but I am not sure.
