Rollback Package for Honor 6x BLN-L21 (C185) Middle East - Honor 6X Questions & Answers

Hay Guys,
There are many many people with Huawei Honor 6x BLN-L21C185, the one which is released in the middle east region and may the same in the European countries too. But the number starting with C and after the L21 is very much crucial in Huawei type of devices, because I've tried three to four rollback packages available for BLN-L21, to go back to MM and got failed in the middle. With the same error every time.
May you guys out there have experienced or seen such rollback package for this specific version?
OR can you guys share what to do if there is no option to rollback at all.

Well, I don't know exactly because after B131 I have never used official OTA to update or simply official OTA didn't work bcz I've used FF to flash B342 (the beta version) of Nougat without registering for beta version. So, FF has been my updater app, indeed it was available in the settings menu but it didn't work bring any OTA update for my device at all. But for last 7 months and some three updates my device's theme had no problem, it didn't had FM radio though.
But now after I have unlocked the bootloader and flashed twrp and rooted the device to check whether I could install LineageOS 14.1 or not, the theme is not working too. I failed to install LineageOS and flashed B360 recovery via fastboot and than flashed B360 ROM via dload method and official recovery.
The other time I flashed Magisk just to try, but failed again to flash LineageOS. And the same procedure to come back to official rom.
Moral is; I still don't have FM radio in my phone and the worst is its theme is not working too. Its official updater also doesn't work for OTAs, I have almost bricked my device once.
Can some guy give me a link to the official B360 or B361 for BLN-L21C185 which would have FM radio in and working theme? Because all the FF suggested roms have FM fix in the included other zip which i have flashed indeed but it does not solve the problems of theme now, and also can't bring FM radio.

Rooting back isn't a big issue man, my concern is the way we work on. Because this phone is my main day to day dude so I have to make it usable every minut.
By the way do you think there is a way out there to go back to a working B130 by having root access.
OR simply
If you could tell me how to ditch out required files from update.app, may be we would work a little harder on it. I have used the winrar but it couldn't ditch out files. I think if we would know what version of stock rom has FM app and we would flash it via adb fastboot, it might have done the job.
OR simply by pushing FM app in the current stock rom and than unrooting and unlookcking the bootloader, is it so easy that I am so excited?

Nope. We can go to b130 without root.
My suggestion for root was to flash the the radio apk manually to system to integrate it.
We have similar things when on 5X, system messaging app was missing in rom, we pushed it manually and had it working

So, let's get started on how to push the FM radio in the system to get it working, are gonna guide me step by step or we have a separate thread on such kind of things?
BTW how do we get the FM radio? Is it the same apk which is available in the "update_data_full_BLN-21_hw_meafnaf.zip" and we can get it in the data>hw_init>product>app>HwFMRadio or something else is gonna be done?

Huawei MT7-TL10 - what is the latest official update/how to update if already rooted

Hi All,
I am having trouble looking for a thread that would help me update my rooted MT7-TL10, my current version is TL10V100R001C00B120SP04. Is it easier if I just unroot it first then install
via OTA? The new pending version under EMUI updater is TL10V100R001C00B130. I dont think it has a noticeable change with my current version but I really would want a Lollipop OS
for my MT7 (better if its an official update) Hope you could help me and give me the step by step procedure for this since my phone is getting really boring without the lollipop or marshmallow update.
Thanks! :fingers-crossed:

Here is the correct link to root and Custom Recovery

You can also root each version KK,LP or MM.
In my case never has a Ota update works, but you can do all by Local Update.
But you must go back to Stock Recovery
Thread is not working anymore.. What version do you have now? How did you upgrade?

I have version 4.4.2. The kitkat version. Never updated it ever since i got the phone. Received a notice on a new OTA update.. But it is more on for stability. Not the lollipop update i guess.
what do you want exactly?
Just want to know if there is an official lollipop update for my phone. And on how to install it while im rooted.

I had the same version on my TL10 (120SP04) and I went directly to B331 from dload folder. No problem in it. Just one difference - my device was unrooted. I made root after that and then flashed KangVIP 3A which is really fine ROM. I think I can recommend you the same however I don't know if there is any problem in your root (but I don't think so).

Hi again, Im receiving error tying to install this in TWRP. Hope you could help. Thanks
Mine was B120 SP04 also. I did the B130 update and kept it that way quite a while, unlocked, CWM recovery and rooted. Also had an older version of Xposed working with some modules. I tried a mod that stuffed it up recently, although it still booted, so decided to go Lollipop seeing as I had to work on it anyway. First thing is to use ADB and flash back to stock recovery, then I unrooted.
Next I applied B324 via local update. It ran fine so I applied B331 via local update.
Running good. Now have TWRP recovery and root. It's a shame Xposed doesn't work on it
I‘ve also not been able to apply lollipop incremental updates. Only a full ROM. Decided not to risk MM yet.
I‘ve noticed that on LP and debloat system apps, I have more free RAM than with KK. It also runs smoother. I installed EX Kernel Manager anyway and with a few basic tweaks the phone flies!
Seriously considering rolling back to Kitkat.
B331 Lollipop runs fine as a daily driver, it's just that even with it rooted, it's so hard to install any mods to customise it how I want.
On reflection, Lollipop doesn't seem to offer me any real benefits over Kitkat

Updating rooted L09 B381 to latest stock, or custom rom?

Hi,
I have a L09 B381 stock firmware installed, twrp, rooted with magisk installed. I would like to update to latest stock available, B389. HiSuite inform me about the update, but not my phone system.
Is there an easy way to update, or will I have to factory reset, update, root again, and reinstall every apps?
Alternativly, do you have a up to date custom rom to recommend?
Thanks
If you would like to update, I recommend you to go back full stock and update through dload (if updater don't work)
About custom ROMs, any ROM is stable and good.

Ok, so, I install the latest, downloaded with firmware finder, and flash it with TWRP. Will I have to reinstall all my apps? To root again?
Thanks
Don't install experimental stock rom versions.
You can update to B389 via FF with a number of options.
Whether through the proxy install or via TWRP ( with unlocked bootloader ofc) you should find guides for that in their respective threads.
As for custom roms they all randomly reboot on high accuracy gps and battery life is generally somewhat worse than on stock.
About 3-4h SoT for me but obviously that depends on your usage
Edit: You should be able to update to 389 without factory reset though, right?
Might be wrong but maybe just flash the smaller ota file or update via proxy?
Should be in the FF thread though

Official Nougat firmware for Honor 8 (FRD-L04; USA)

Hi,
Does anybody know when the official Nougat firmware will be available for the Honor 8 US Model (FRD-L04)?
I received the Nougat update via OTA back in February but downgraded to Marshmallow due to battery drain issues. I haven't received the update via OTA again, so I'm looking for official Nougat firmware to try it manually.

You can try Firmware finder to have the latest firmware.
Sent from my Honor 8 using XDA Labs
I received OTA Update of B385 on my L04 couple of months back in Karachi, Pakistan
I have downgraded multiple times to Marshmallow and have always reviewed the OTA update.
Incase you're not recieving it, unlock the bootloader, flash TWRP. Then use Firmware Finder to download the firmware shown in the screenshot below. Flash all the downloaded files using TWRP. You will be updated to nougat without wiping anything.
(In future, remember that all firmwares that end with PV can be flashed using TWRP)
Thanks for the suggestion on using FirmwareFinder.
I tried different packages from FirmwareFinder but the installation stops at around 5-6% and throws an error saying it's not compatible, even though I seem to have selected a FRD-L04 compatible Nougat package. So I gave up on that.
I'm a bit surprised to read comments that OTA update has been pushed even after downgrading to MarshMallow several times. I downgraded sometime around March and haven't received OTA update not even once (in the US).

Ah dload won't work to install the Nougat update.
As I said, unlock the bootloader and flash TWRP recovery. Then install those zip files from TWRP as you would install a custom ROM. However, instead of installing B360, you can install B385 update to be on the latest version. Use Firmware Finder to download the update but ensure that the update is FullOTA-MF-PV as shown in the screenshot attached.
Or if you don't want to unlock the bootloader, then no problem. When you hit the firmware in Firmware Finder, along with Download there are other options too. Select 'Get an update through DNS' and follow the instructions.

You won't get any Nougat upgrade notification until you update your device up to B162 which is the last MM version for your FRD-L04C567.
If your device is stock and locked you just need to push the B162 FullOTA (version 66280) using Firmware Finder proxy installation method. Then you should get the B360 update notification. But if for some weird reason the notification doesn't come up automatically, then go ahead and push the B360 FullOTA (version 72309) using the same FF proxy method. For B385 (version 83098) it will be the same procedure.
I've done it myself before and it works.

Nougat on FRD-C900?

Background: I got my Honor 8 today, model # FRD-L04 (important later), updated to EMUI 5.1 and Nougat via Updater on phone, and decided I wasn't satisfied with EMUI. So I rooted and that went smoothly, but when I tried to flash a custom ROM, I bricked pretty hard. Long story short, tried flashing multiple ROMs until I found one that worked. The ROM I'm on right now has EMUI 5.1 and build number FRD-C900B131, which is completely different from my original build (FRD-L04). Looked it up and turns out it's a variant of the H8. Unfortunately, I tried to update via Updater and there were no updates available, so I'm stuck with EMUI 4.1 and MM for now (not complaining, since at least it works again). I also tried flashing the rollback ROM for the L04, but I got an incompatibility error when I tried dload method. So now, question is how do I get back to my original stock FRD-L04 ROM, or how do I update to Nougat on this model version (C900B131)?
Thanks for the quick reply. Could you guide me through how I would approach this? I'm not sure which TWRP to use for my (incorrect) build. Do you think using the TWRP for my correct build (L04) should be okay? I'm on EMUI 4.1 also, I think the EMUI version matters too when choosing which TWRP to flash.

That's true, I think u need twro for M. Make quick search for Modaco twrp 3.0.1

I did, all of them are 3.0.2, none are 3.0.1. Should I try 3.0.1 from TWRP website?

Awesome, thank you. I've installed it and it seems to be working fine with no issues. So I found the rollback package for my model (L04), so I should just install this through TWRP? And then install the Honor 8 upgrade firmware? Does that sound right?

Try just flash full firmware, no install rollback. Put zip to sdcard install over twrp and hope for the best, here can happen some unspecific problems. Firmware is right

I get "Could not find 'META-INF/com/google/android/update-binary' in the zip file". Is there somewhere I can download where it has META-INF?

Dude, i have the same problem, i´m stucked on android 6.0, my build number is C900B131 and it´s FRD-L04. Did you find an update for that exact same number? If so, could you please send it to me?
How about FRD-L09C900B131?

Need help fixing an Honor 8. Stuck on EMUI 4.0 after failing with custom ROMs

Hello! So I tried flashing a custom ROM to my friends Honor 8 after reading around a bit and such but it ultimately failed and now we're trying to get it back to the default ROM. We found a ROM download but it was for the version FRD-l09C900B120 which was running EMUI4.0 and Android 6.0. I also read that the "C" version he has doesn't receive any further updates, I'm failing to find anything on the correct "C" version anywhere. If anyone could guide me through the installation process for the correct and latest firmware it would be great!
On another note, the build in eRecovery doesn't seem to want to install the update package. It always fails pretty early on after connecting to WiFi, any fix for that would be great. Thanks!
Thanks for any help!
On which ROM was the custom ROM based? You should try to flash the rollback package with dload method and then flash B120 or another EMUI 4.X ROM with same method

The custom ROM was Linageos 14.1, so it wasn't anything EMUI based.
I'm gonna try and manually flash the ROM from an update.app that we downloaded from the app Firmware Finder.

We did not make a twrp backup (In hindsight we should've....)
We don't have twrp on it right not but can be fixed if needed.
We were on the latest update available to the phone which should be latest today as well. (OTA)
Flashing it manually made the phone enter a bootloop. It didn't even start the firmware. Any suggestions?
EDIT: We got into Fastboot. What are our options?
Right now your best option in my opinion is to flash Boot.img, recovery.img,cust.img and system.img that you will extract from the UPDATE.APP of your CURRENT Rom. Then just try the dload method again and again, it may not accept the firmware you try to flash but in this case just try another, but not a lower one because you need the rollback package to do that

Right now your best option is to pray for USB debugging to be enabled and then unlock the bootloader if you didn't do it earlier. After that you should try to flash TWRP

What should we do after we've flashed TWRP? When I tried flashing LineageOS 14 it decided to fail the installation somehow and be at an endless boot animation. So I'd like to get the phone restored to EMUI5.0.
Sorry, what I said was garbage, I just edited my comment, you're so quick lol

Well currently there's a broken firmware on it of FRD-L09C432B943... Or something like that.
I think at this point he's looking at getting a new phone all together.
No matter if the firmware inside isn't working properly, with fastboot you can manually flash each partition that is needed as long as USB debugging is enabled and bootloader unlocked. After flashing these cleans parts you can properly use the dload method , and if you get an error using dload method can you tell me which one is it? At least the device behavior.
I have to sleep, I'll be right back on the morning hope you'll make it this night , if don't , please be more specific and accurate when you describe the errors you faced, that way we will be more efficient when answering
Sorry for language mistakes, English isn't my native language :silly:

Currently there's no working OS on it so I'm gonna see if I can find a firmware that I can flash. Do you have any idea where I can get one?
Yeah on honor official site: Hihonor
Or with firmware finder

If you need a full firmware then you should visit official honor site..
If you flash LineageOS on a phone without OS it won't work just because LineageOS patch the current installed System, if there is no system there is no way it will boot

I can't find any Honor 8 FRD-L09 downloads anywhere on the Huawei sites or Honor sites. They must've removed the downloads just like they did with the Honor 7..

I get that now and I know how to proceed in the future.
On another note, I got a good UPDATE.APP available but it refuses to install using the dload method because the versions are different. Does anyone know which partition the USERDATA.img file goes to?
You don't have to flash each single partition but dude in my opinion it's better to flash the whole UPDATE.APP, just use the rollback package and flash a lower EMUI.
Another thing: I'm currently on honor official site and I can download firmwares, you're searching in the wrong place.

Thank you for that link, I downloaded it and flashed it, I couldn't find it on any other hihonor site but this French one had it.
Again, thank you, it worked flawlessly installing and it updated instantly. You saved me from a lot of worrying and anxiety about breaking my friends phone lol.
I'm really glad to read that dude
thanks for the firmware been looking for it for very long!
btw you just saved another honor 8
