I am new to rooting an need to move my apps to the sd card - Sony Xperia L

Hello everyone, I am completely new to this thing, and I had two options. Buy a new phone or try to do something with this one. So I decided to try the cheaper way and I have succesfully rooted my phone with kingroot. I was happy until I tried to do the thing I was aiming for. I just cannot move my apps to the SD card. None of the apps detect it after I patrition it. I tried Minotools on PC and Apps2SD tool. Everytime I do it, my phone does not detect the card, says it is empty or damaged in the notifications and gives me the suggestions for format it. It only works if I click on format, it has to be done inside the phone and it erases the patrition.
Any suggestions what I am doing wrong ? Thank you.

what can i do?

for some reason my G1 is no longer reading the sd card. even when hooked up to windows it is not seen. is there anyway i can update through fastboot and if so how do i go about doing that. any help would be greatly appreciated. i have search all over the forum but cant find anything to help me. im lost right now.
First of all you should choose better topics.
Try reformatting the sdcard.
ive tried that. the sd card reads fine when i put it in the computer sd reader it my g1 thats not seeing it.
Is it the origional card that came with the G1??
Have you tried using another SD card in the phone? If that doesn't work - it's possible something messed up with the reader.
Although I don't think this would do anything : You may want to try wiping the phone. Ofcourse back it all up, if you want to save your apps and data.
thanks for all the help but my g1 sd card reader is not reading ive tried 4 other sd i have and none work. but i forgot i did a nandroid back up like a month ago, just totally forgot so i got the .img files i needed im going to fastboot those and see what happens.
well that didnt work but i feel so dumb now because i have been racking my brain and pming people to get help and nothing worked. then all of a sudden i though, why dont i just do a back up of my girls phone and flash all the files to my phone. and of course that worked. once again thanks for all the help. and if anyone out there havent done a back up i strongly suggest you do.

Flashed Raphael and now the files on the SD card are gone

I flashed to the newest build and now nothing shows up in my storage card....on the phone and through device center. I tried reverting back to the previous build, but still nothing is there. When I plug it in to device center, the storage card is recognized and it says that it does have memory used on it, but there are no files to be seen in the explorer on the phone and on the device center. Any help please?

anytime you flash, you are suppose to remove the sd card cause it wipes out everything on the phone and card, sorry to say but your stuff you had on your sd card is gone.
Out of everytime I have flashed roms on a phone, this has never happened. The thing is that the sd card still says it's half full which shows me there is still data, but I just can't see it.

Ive never seen that flashing deletes files on sd, too and i flashed a lot of times, always with sd- and sim card in the TP.... Try to rescue data on the card with Norton Utilities ... i ve had good experiece with sd cards from a camera that i could save the data on it. Did you try progs like pocket mechanic?
Greetz &good luck

I tried some of those tools and other recovery tools as well and nothing. Anyone else have anymore information on this?
I think you get the disappearing card when you have mis-matching FAT tables (it's happened to me before). I suspect that you had a growing problem and that the flash was just a coincidence and not the cause. You should try the demo version of Wizcode Scandisk and see if it can fix the issue. The also have a data recovery app, but that could be more trouble than it's worth (I think it recovers files but not file names-sounds like hell to me, lol).
Thanks, I'll give it a shot and if that doesn't work then I guess I will just format it

[Q] Nothing will install

So, randomly nothing will install on my droid eris (kaosfroyo v39)....no ideas why this has happened. Any help would be appreciated
Do you have Unknown Sources ticked under Settings -> Applications?
yes i do should i not?
Just a bit more on this. I tried to install an app, it failed. But I changed where it installs (from sd to phone) installed fine. So I tried moving it to my sd card and that was fine as well.....any ideas?
I've had this issue when I had everything installing to my SD card and then took it out. When I put it back in it wouldn't install to it again until I installed something to the phone first. I can only assume that its an SD card mounting issue.
This shouldn't happen often as its only happened to me the one time
Any fix for this?
I guess u need to reformat your phone memory and memory card? Do a full restore and see what happens... but make sure u backup your stuffs...

[Q] SD formatting tool on the phone itself

I am stuck at work and can't install any formatting tools on my work pc (gee go figure they would block those, haha). However I want to set up the ext4 and swap partition on the new SD card I just installed. Any suggestions for a free partitioning tool I can use on my P500h itself without needing a pc? Pros/cons etc... I don't want to start filling it with apps until I get the SD card sorted and I ran out of time this morning before leaving because of a stupid boot loop issue after flashing.
Running the new CM11 Kit Kat Rom, fully rooted unlocked...blah blah blah and if I have to wait another 8 hours to play with it again it's going to suck so if anyone has any suggestions - hit me with them. Looking for stable, won't kill the card, easy to configure, no pc required solutions.

You should be able to boot in to your recovery and format the SDCARD from there. At least you could with older CWM versions, pre KitKat. Not sure about the newer ones.
I installed AParted on my phone and it worked like a charm. Was able to set up all 3 partitions using one screen, a slider button for setting sizes and a drop down for the type. It was amazingly easy with great instructions. I have been happily redownloading all my apps and setting things back up. Next step is to read up on best ways to save battery whether I use an app or play with voltage settings or maybe both....gah - so much to learn!!!

Does any app exist that does not require root permissions that will allow me to reformat an SD card with a format of my choosing

Minor update I'm no longer really needing a solution to this problem although it would be very helpful for everyone if one was found as I'm sure this has been a problem too many people at this point)
I'm over here trying to root my S6 Lite tablet without a computer just a bloody cell phone and I am oh so close but I have no way of reformatting this SD card cuz xxxxx Android wants to put it as FAT32 for god knows what reason it's an 8 gig SD card and I've even tried reformatting it in both devices I have same result Android just being stupid and I am at the end of my rope here cuz I have not been able to find any apps once so ever that actually allow me to reformat an SD card with a format of my choosing or at least one that's usable
Now please tell me that someone on this xxxxx website has a solution to this problem because once again the weird stuff I'm doing has led me down a path no one else has seemingly took
(And if anyone's asking why I'm rooting this tablet it's because Android 12 works like crap)

I am kind of stuck between a rock and a hard place as I have not been able to figure out any method of formatting this SD card with something usable because Android is for some unknown reason only formatting it with FAT32 despite using two different devices to attempt to format it normally and I have not been able to find a single application that exists that does not require root permissions that would allow me to change the format of the SD card I have legitimately spent like three or four hours now trying to figure something out and have come up with nothing please someone here help
I'm just going to add this year that I obviously don't have access to a computer or this wouldn't be a problem
Root your phone and use twrp to change filesystem.
But in your case when you don't want to root. Unplug SD card and connect with adapter to your pc.
Go to this computer and right click on the SD card
Click format And select filesystem
Quick format is fine
Format and when finished
Put SD card back.
Done

Both of those are a problem because I don't have a computer to use and I am trying to root my tablet and the only other device I have is an a20 cell phone that's not rooted either and I am so close but I can't Flash the modded firmware because Android is formatting the SD card with xxxx FAT32 so besides this SD card the only other option I have is to attempt to do the flash over wireless ADB I mean seriously if I had a bloody computer I would have been done like 3 days ago

It's not or I would have found it by now I've tried everything you can find easily on Google and the Play Store absolutely nothing has worked or been anywhere near what I'm looking for besides a couple of apps that require root permissions I was coming here hoping that somebody would have an actual tool for this application not someone giving me the same
trash that google did, now I do appreciate you attempting to help but I need somebody here that is a lot more knowledgeable than you

Normally a person would update the result and from there we look for another solution. Goodluck finding someone knowledgeable lol, if you weren't such a special one I would have suggested something more advanced
Greetings from a well respected Samsung SSD technician
