Gear S3 eMail App - Samsung Gear S3

This is my first smart watch.
The stock eMail app on my new Gear S3 presents a warning that it needs access to Contacts.
I am looking for input from more experienced users regarding the security risks involved. In particular, I try to avoid 3rd party storage for any of my personal information (i.e., eMail, Contacts, Calendar ...).
Is the app limited to data on the Gear S3 or does it interface with a Cloud data base somewhere, either at my carrier or Samsung? I do not use a Samsung account to sync the Gear with my Galaxy S8.
I thank you in advance for your responses.
Thanks >> Joe

Samsung Galaxy would like to access your Facebook/Twitter account

After installing and running Facebook for the first time, I receive a notification with the message "Samsung Galaxy would like to access your Facebook account". Similarly, after installing and running Twitter, I received the notification "Samsung Galaxy would like to access your Twitter account".
For Twitter, after clicking on the notification, I'm taken to a page that states:
"Authorize Samsung Galaxy to use your account? This enables Samsung Galaxy to work with your Twitter account, with your permission."
"<<Allow>> or <<Cancel>>".
For Facebook, after clicking on the notification, I'm taken to a page that states:
"Samsung GALAXY will receive the following info: your public profile, friend list, email address, birthday, events, photos and tagged places. This does not let the app post to Facebook".
"<<OK>> or <<Cancel>>"
But For what reason would Samsung like to access my social media accounts? Work with my Facebook/Twitter account how? Does this provide any benefit for me?
I would like to know, how to disable this and stop Samsung asking for access?

You can long-press on the notification and choose the ⓘ symbol, then toggle the "Block notifications" option to "ON".
However, I still want to know what Samsung will do with this information and what the benefit is for me.
Pair that with facebook demanding Id scans.....and you'll start thinking about how fb and all its partners mine, store, and sell your info. Ever notice how you can't Uninstaller fb from your device now? Like it's creator said "people are dumb ****s for willingly giving fb all their personal info"
Certainly you must realize that your device wanting to connect to fb is along the lines of tightening the noose around your own neck.

What exactyl does the Facebook Sync do?

Hi,
in the settings of my Galaxy S7 device exists the following option:
Settings - Accounts - Facebook - Sync with your device
When I activate this option, I am asked to grant the app "Samsung Galaxy" access to my contacts. Dispite having a bad feeling about it, I was curious and granted the permission. What I am interested in now is: What exactly got synchronized? I can't finy any new data on my phone nor in my facebook account. My facebook contacts are not on my phone and I can not find anything from my phone on facebook. So what's the utility of this? (besides providing Samsung/Facebook with a bunch of personal data..)
Somebody? Anybody?
You should at least see the upcoming Facebook events in your calenda/SPlanner. Might have to activate the calendars in the settings of the calendar app though

Looking for a google keep or equivalent app for gear s3

Hey all,
I have been enjoying the gear s3, but I was looking for an app that can function as a shopping list.
I bought My Notes in Gear, but it seems be unable to install on my gear s3 paired with a Nexus 6p . Do any you know a solution for this or have an alternative app that you recommend?

I have been using the Shopping List Gear Voice app. It is only used for shopping and does cost $1.50. I have a rooted Nexus 6.
I have the Frontier and S7 edge. My Notes in Gear works perfect just like Google Keep.

Me too, surprised no free samsung apps to sync text notes.
Many apps for shopping list (or todo)
- Listonic
- Lister
- My Tasks (Google tasks)
- ENoteGear (Evernote)
- Your Grocery List (ourGroceries client)
- Shopping Lists (standalone app)
-Notepad+ (Notes standalone app)
I'm using reminders
Reminders has a built-in checklist as well. No need to buy a third-side app which may sniff your notes. Do you need that?

Android at Work and Gear

Hi all,
my company use Adnroid at Work for the corporate apps.
I've just configured it and the relative GMail.
The problem is that using Android at Work and the relative GMail, the Gear S2 don't show the notifications. I've setted in the GEar Manager App to notify for "All App", but nothing.
Seems that the GMail running inside Android at Work is not received by GEar S2.
Anyone successfully configured notifications for GMail for Android at Work?
Thanks in advance

Galaxy Watch track direct to Google Fit

Good evening, could anyone tell me if an app exists or even is it possible to record step/heart data directly from Tizen on Galaxy Watch to Google Fit?
I'm aware we can sync data but I need the steps to originate on Google Fit itself rather than S Health.
I ask because in the UK my health provider allows data taken from Google Fit, Fitbit, Garmin & Apple but not Samsung. When I tried to bypass this by synching data from S Health to Google Fit, the company didn't take the steps from S Health, only those that originated in Google Fit.
No idea how they identify which steps came from where but they can so I need to track directly from Galaxy into Grit.
Any ideas really are appreciated
Thanks

I presume your health provider is Vitality, because if it is I'm in the same situation as you. From my understanding from their CS\Dev team the data synced to Google Fit using Health Sync is tagged as not being originated from google fit. But it seems those that use google fit API is fine.
It's a late answer but there is an app which transfers the data recorded from your Watch and Samsung Health to Google Fit including Heart rate and floor data.
But unfortunately the app is just free2use for 7 days. Afterwards you'll have to pay (except your phone is rooted. Then a bypass is possible).
The app is called Health Sync and you can find it in the Play Store!
Hope I could help

You beat me to it. I use Health Sync as well for my work insurance. I waited until the trial ended and pay for the $0.99 six month subscription. It has been great and you can adjust how often it syncs the data.
What about MapMyRun?
What about MapMyRun? It syncs to MyFitnessPal which then syncs to Google Fit. MapMyRun is a better (I think, I'm just new) watch app than Galaxy S Health native app. And this set up would be free. I'd expect this to be API integration so maybe this works? I hope so, or I will send my Galaxy back
Health Sync is $2.99 for one time purchase. Skip the cup of coffee or bottle of water for the day if you don't have the spare change, and you'll have a great product that you'll take advantage of daily.
Health sync is the best to use. Have been using it for over a year now and have never had a problem with it. Had a missed sync here and there but it ends up fixing on the sync. Definitely just do the one time buy tho.
i use SyncMyTracks - very good
Will Health Sync even work it Samsung Health isn't installed or disabled?
The reason I'm asking is because I plan to root my Note 9 with Magisk and read that S-Health isn't working any longer if I do so.
I wouldn't care, if my steps from my Galaxy Watch are synced to Google Fit with Health Sync though.
