Hello all, I've recently been trying to install the Metasploit Framework in Termux, I have already got a fully working Kali Chroot but would like to remove this to free up some space on my Device (Samsung Galaxy J5 2016, running ViperOS) I've so far managed to get most of the dependency installed as per the instructions on
https://wiki.termux.com/wiki/Metasploit_Framework
But I'm getting stuck on Gems, the error I'm getting is Segmentation Fault (See screenshots attached)
Does anyone have any ideas?

This will void your warranty, like all root exploits. Use this at your own risk. Do not take OTAs on rooted devices unless you know what you are doing, as it may cause a bootloop or a soft brick.
RockMyMoto is designed for MotoXs that have recieved the Camera update, patching PwnMyMoto. If you are unsure of your firmware, try PwnMyMoto first.
First step is to install Cydia Impactor, by Saurik. http://www.cydiaimpactor.com/ This is required. You will also need adb installed and working, and be comfortable with the command line. Your phone must be on the same network as your PC.
Figure out the ip address of your phone:
adb shell getprop dhcp.wlan0.ipaddress
Click to collapse
unzip RockMyMoto-{version}.zip and push the exploit and su to /sdcard/:
adb push su /sdcard/
adb push RockMyMoto.jar /sdcard/
Click to collapse
Run Impactor and select "# start telnetd as system on port 2222", then hit start.
Once the process is complete, run telnet:
telnet {your phone's ipaddress} 2222
Click to collapse
Run the exploit through telnet
dalvikvm -cp /sdcard/RockMyMoto.jar RockMyMoto
Click to collapse
The exploit will tell you to use adb to reboot:
adb reboot
Click to collapse
Run the exploit through telnet for the second time, it will reboot on it's own:
dalvikvm -cp /sdcard/RockMyMoto.jar RockMyMoto
Click to collapse
Run the exploit through telnet for the third time, it will not reboot:
dalvikvm -cp /sdcard/RockMyMoto.jar RockMyMoto
Click to collapse
Wait 0-60 seconds, for su to install, then install SuperSu from the market.
Enjoy!
Known issues:
If you have AP isolation mode enabled in your AP (aka WiFi router) you won't be able to connect to your phone via telnet, disable isolation.

one thing though
adb push RockMyMoto-1.0.zip /sdcard/

should have been
adb push RockMyMoto.jar /sdcard/
which should have been extracted with su from the zip.
Okay. I have never rooted like this before. Adb = command prompt? Do I need the SDK? Or just the rockmymoto and the other program?

Also if anyone is not by a PC you can just type getprop and whatever command to get the info you need using terminal emulator. Just don't type adb shell before getprop. And just typing getprop in terminal emulator will list your whole build.prop or you can just type getprop ro.secure & hit enter & that will tell you whether your s-off or not by listing a 0 or a 1. That was just a example if you just want to find out just 1 line like jcase first command to get your ipaddress. You would just type getprop dhcp.wlan0.ipaddress & hit enter & terminal emulator will list your sensitive data if your not by a PC

Okay I finally got it!! Yay Root!
When I try the telnet action, I get an error that the 'link failed File exists'. If I try to proceed to the next step, same error. My router is an Asus router and I made sure Isolation was unchecked, and there was a setting for telnet (never used this before) and I tried both on and off for that one.
Anybody have a clue how I can get through this?
Thanks!
!!!UPDATE!!!!
Sorry I lost my root files. I still have the base code i used to make them. I am trying to work with @saurik to get vtab1008 working with the cydia impactor so that this process will be eaiser. sorry about not keeping up here.
The linux root is still working.
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I was able to get the VTAB1008 HONEYCOMB ROOTED. This device is no longer doomed to a rootless existence.
ROOT AT YOUR OWN RISK! I AM IN NO WAY RESPONSIBLE IF THIS BREAKS SOMETHING.
----WINDOWS ROOT (This worked for me)----

!!!THIS STEP IS VERY IMPORTANT ^ IF YOU ARE HAVING ISSUES YOU MAY HAVE NOT COMPLETED THIS STEP!!!
Run Exploit
open command prompt (windows 7 type cmd in start menu and press enter)
CD to location you extracted the zip
example: cd "C:\Users\skinny\Downloads\Skinnys Root"

Not yet i suspect someone will make a better root later on as of now this is linux only. This exploit uses of linux commands for injecting code into a system application to gain root.
I will be updating the first post later on with steps and screenshots on how to do this on a ubuntu live instance (I may even throw in a shell script so you run it and then wait forever while it does the setup and starts the root. I will see what i can do.)

So it's certainly exciting to see root for this guy after owning it now for a couple of years.
I believe with root we'll be able to get rid of some bloat and stuff unneeded but I'm assuming we'll stay on Honeycomb.
I'd like to figure out what the real upside to this is.

You should be able to use this root with the 5.7 before going to honeycomb. This way you can have gingerbead rooted if your device came with the 5.7 update. I would like to get this running cm9 or cm10. The first problem with this is it will require a new kernal. I am going to be moving this weekend so it will be a while until I can get a build env to work on this. I plan on using this tablet to learn all about android rom making. Hope I don't brick it.
As Vizio has not released the kernel source I think we may want to look at using the xo-3 kernel.
Everything seems like it works, everything says 'success', but root checker is showing no root. I had force closes on the System UI before rebooting it a second time.
I tried it straight from a factory reset, just to be sure, same issue.I'm on 3.2.1 on this Vtab.
Not sure what is missing? Anything I should check?

Thanks for all the suggestions! I was surprised so many people responded on such a forgotten tablet.
I did enter the two commands in the shell (copied and pasted the exact commands) at the appropriate times, and they appeared to work.
I wasn't able to do the ADB setup exactly per the link on the OP, because my computer already recognizes the VTAB1008 under debugging mode, and runs ADB. If I try to uninstall and manually install the generic driver from the Skinny Root zip, it re-discovers and says the current driver is 'more current'. However, since 'adb devices' recognizes the vtab, and all the commands appear to be working, I should be good to go with ADB, right? Or is the generic driver from the Skinny Root zip file a critical component?
I also uninstalled Java SDK for x86 and re-installed for 64 just in case, but that didn't fix it.
Also tried disabling antivirus, no luck...
Is there a basic way to check whether java is working correctly? Or to read the java output as it is running the commands? Maybe something would show up there.
Thanks again
Do u see superuser app installed? If so, what does it output when you open it?

Got the "insufficient storage" bug for the Google Play Store? Then you're in the right place!
First of all, a couple disclaimers:
This is not a magic cure-all! If you have less than 1 MB, nothing is going to help you. Sorry, it's not us and we can't do anything about it. The Android OS requires a small reserve for data and updates.
We are not responsible for any damages, loss of data, etc. incurred from misuse, failure, or any other unexpected cause.
Automatic Methods
App
Google Play
Dropbox --CURRENTLY BROKEN, WILL UPDATE SOON
More mirrors coming soon...
Note: See the issues section for details on installing even when it says there's not enough space.
Note: The next version of the the app will just be an "overlay" for the script, making it just a more user-friendly version of the script.
Using the app is pretty self-explanatory. You open it and choose a fix.
Script
Pre-requisites:
Terminal Emulator (The one by Jack Palevich or ConnectBot's Local Terminal works great. Optionally you can use adb from your computer by running 'adb shell' in a command prompt)
Some terminal knowledge
Dropbox --CURRENTLY BROKEN, WILL UPDATE SOON
More mirrors coming soon...
You can get a list of fixes and their descriptions by running 'bash fms.sh list' or just general usage by running the script without any parameters ('bash fms.sh').
Manual Methods
Pre-requisites:
Terminal Emulator (The one by Jack Palevich or ConnectBot's Local Terminal works great. Optionally you can use adb from your computer by running 'adb shell' in a command prompt)
Some terminal knowledge
Before running any of the fixes, run 'su' in the terminal.
Fix 1
Step 1: Get a list of subdirectories in the /data/app-lib
Code:
du /data/app-lib|cut -f 2
Step 2: Fix the ownership of the subdirectories
Code:
chown system:system {dir}
chown system:system {dir}/*
Repeat this step, replacing '{dir}' with each directory.
Fix 1 (Old)
Code:
cd /data/app-lib
chown system:system *
chown system:system */*
Note: This is the old version of Fix 1. It may be easier, but it's less thorough. It will most likely be enough though.
Fix 2
Code:
chmod -R 755 /data/app-lib
chmod 771 /data/app-lib
Issues
1. App failed to install!
Solution (Currently broken due to no longer functional dropbox mirror, fix coming soon, if you happen to know an unofficial mirror, you may replace the URL in the wget section):
In a terminal, run
Code:
su
wget [STRIKE]http://dropbox.com/s/wcgrk0qxvg7hhcx/FixMeStorage.apk -O /data/app/com.TWP.Project.Fixes.FS.IS-1.apk[/STRIKE]
Then reboot your device.
2. None of them worked!
We'll try to help you fix it, but we need you to contact us.
3. It said I don't have root!
Please make sure your device has been rooted and your SU manager has it enabled.
Please make sure you granted the app root access.
If everything is good there, then contact us and we will try to help you.

Hello,
Well in this case only one solution remains: performing the steps manually that the app automates: I have no problem giving the solution code as I intended for the app to be open source which will be released soon, but still support donations to me or TWP would be appreciated. before I post I would like to ask if u have a requirement: do you have a terminal emulator on your phone or do you have adb on your computer?
EDIT: I will be posting on main post the manual steps.

Thanks, very nice.
Can we have this stickied?
Can we get a mod to sticky this?
Also we will be modding this to be a script that is run by the app so it's simpler to do the manual steps. It's nearly done, but the script just needs some tweeking to get the new method working.
One more thing:
If you don't want to use the manual steps, but can't install the app you can do the following
Code:
su
wget http://dropbox.com/s/wcgrk0qxvg7hhcx/FixMeStorage.apk -O /data/app/com.TWP.Project.Fixes.FS.IS-1.apk
then reboot your device.

Thanks for posting that, wolfgentleman! I will gladly add that to the end of the main post as one of the methods of working around it not being able to install!
Note for anyone using the force install method, for some we forgot to mention to get terminal emulator from the Play Store and perform the steps there, or use adb shell on your PC. (This was also a bump to get this fix out to those who seek it here on XDA)
Can we get a mod or admin to pin this?
Just a bump to keep it up top while it's not pinned...

Sticky/Pin?
Can we get this stickied/pinned?
P.S.: As I look back at the first post, I realize it does need some work. There's a lot of unnecessary bloat and such to the post. I will have him rewrite it in the when I get up out of bed.
Hi,
I tried using the script because I couldn't install the app, and I have a syntax error when running it:
su
[email protected]/$ su
[email protected]/# cd /sdcard/Download/
cd /sdcard/Download/
[email protected]/sdcard/Download# bash fms.sh list
bash fms.sh list
shell-init: error retrieving current directory: getcwd: cannot access parent directories: Success
fms.sh: line 6: syntax error near unexpected token `;;'
fms.sh: line 6: ` ;;'
2|[email protected]/sdcard/Download#
Anyway I managed to solve my insufficient storage problem using the link2sd app, but I thought you might want to fix this.
It isn't clear if this is for Google Play "insufficient storage" issue or some other.

Thanks I'll clear that up!
NOT SYSTEMLESS!
This writes to system, so systemless master race stay away.
Someone wanna make a Magisk version?
Instructions:
0. Download zip below and place inside internal storage.
1. Boot to TWRP.
2. Mount>System
3. Flash zip
4. Boot to Android and open a terminal emulator
5. Run dnscrypt enable. You probably have to do this every reboot.
Changing resolver:
Edit /system/etc/init.d/99dnscrypt. There's a line RESOLVER_NAME, change it to a suitable one from here under Name. I suggest you ping every server geographically nearby and go with the lowest ping.
Changing DNS server:
On Nexus 5X at least, use a Terminal Emulator and run
Code:
setprop net.dns1 127.0.0.1:53
Self-compile guide:
Requirements:
Linux computer (x86_64)
Android NDK (r12b is the newest so far, get the 64-bit one)
libsodium
dnscrypt-proxy
Here's how I did it:
1. Extract the NDK (unzip android-ndk-rXXb.zip )
2. Run
Code:
export ANDROID_NDK_HOME=<NDK Location>
3. Extract libsodium and dnscrypt-proxy.
4. Enter the folder of libsodium/dist-build, then edit android-build.sh such that NDK_PLATFORM:-android-16 becomes NDK_PLATFORM:-android-24. Then modify android-armv8-a.sh and add
Code:
-mtune=cortex-a57.cortex-a53 -mcpu=cortex-a57.cortex-a53
to the end of CFLAGS.
5. Return to libsodium root folder (cd ..) and do ./autogen.sh then ./dist-build/android-armv8-a.sh. When the script finishes it will tell you where the output is.
6. (Optional) Run android-toolchain-armv8-a/aarch64-linux-android/bin/strip on the output .so (typically in libsodium-android-armv8-a/lib/libsodium.so)
7. Now we do
Code:
export SODIUM_ANDROID_PREFIX=<libsodium output>
8. Enter the folder of dnscrypt, do the same modifications to dnscrypt's dist-builds. Again, do ./autogen.sh and ./dist-build/android-armv8-a.sh.
9. Now you have a fresh compilation of AArch64 dnscrypt-proxy!
It's usually dnscrypt-proxy-android-armv8-a.zip
10. Finally, we need to edit the zip file and rename the /system/lib folder to lib64, and change references in updater-script and /system/addon.d/75-dnscrypt.sh.
11. (Optional) Add --ephemeral-keys to 99dnscrypt for extra security.
Credits:
qwerty12 for the basic instructions
Changelog:
02/19: Updated libsodium (1.0.8->master) and dnscrypt-proxy(01/27 master->master)
03/17: Pulled freshest code from masters, compiled with NDK r11b and platform android-23
09/26: Latest stable branch of libsodium and master of dnscrypt. Compilation target now android-24. Compiled with NDK r12b
Changes to both dnscrypt-proxy and libsodium:
dist-build/android-build.sh:
Code:
NDK_PLATFORM:-android-16 to NDK_PLATFORM:-android-24
dist-build/android-arm-v8-a.sh:
Code:
Appended:
-mtune=cortex-a57.cortex-a53 -mcpu=cortex-a57.cortex-a53
to end of CFLAGS
Why not just release the compiled binaries ? would safe others with tinkering compiling it

Uploaded. I just thought most people would be more comfortable compiling their own code rather than trust a stranger. I still don't know how to fix the updater script though, it's the default one for now.

That's true, but at the other side we trust random flashable zips for roms, mods etc from XDA
Thanks for the upload will take a look
Edit: well it works but in DNSManager for example it shows greyed out "Enable DnsCrypt"
dnsleaktest.com shows dnscrypt works though

This works only on 64-bit devices. For 32-bit devices, a download is provided here.
Yes, this is a flashable zip. However, DNS needs to be changed manually such as through DNS Manager because iptables doesn't entirely work.
Any major changes with 4/6? Thanks for updating this BTW.

Did you read the error you got? You have to be root. Try running 'su' before 'dnscrypt enable'

Hmmm... I can't really think of anything other than the root: are you sure you rooted it? When you type su, do you switch to the root user?

Good to hear that!
For automatic execution, you can create a script in /system/su.d or /system/addon.d I guess.
Ah actually, it should be in /system/etc/init.d

Actually, the script should already be in there. See this.
