Next Phone: Oneplus 5 or Xiaomi Mi 6? - General Questions and Answers

Hello I would like to buy a new phone. What I want from my phone is to have a good camera, fast android updates(oxygen os or MIUI does the job faster?), lineage os compatibility and good performance. So which one do you suggest? I am really into the modding part of the phone but I want my phone also to have a great original rom if I want to go back to stock. I am switching from an iPhone welcome me to the club with the best option [emoji16][emoji16]

the Xiaomi. The UI ain't that different from the iphone, MIUI is no longer as slow as it used to be, they do get good updates, have more sensors I think and ROM compatibility should be very good as long as it Snapdragon. Camera is decent on both, same as build quality.

Go For Nexus 5 ,because it have pure android experience with gives better performance and better ram usages.
One thing is great of nexus devices that it will gate android update firstly than other devices.
So, Go for Nexus 5
The Nexus 5 has more development than any other phone. Being a Nexus, it's the quickest to receive official updates from Google. Combined, these 2 facts mean even custom ROMs and kernels get updated quicker than other devices.
Apart from that though, the LG G2 is a better phone. Basically the same dimensions, but .2" bigger screen, a much larger battery, and a far better camera. The G2 doesn't really lack for development either; there's plenty of ROMs and kernels, plus the stock ROM has some cool features and can be tweaked to your liking with Xposed.
thanks all... if i bought N5 can add more Features like knock on multi tasking .ect ?
and what about battery usage ? good or what ?
any opinion !?

Mediocre at best.
Very good battery with some kernels like CodeBlue, Uber, Franco, etc.! Congratz and enjoy!

You should buy Nexus 5 because it is the phone made exclusively for developers. And the best thing is that you will get Android Updates earliest than any other phones in the world
Nexus 5 all nexus' are great (except camera) and come with stock android, fast updates, great for developers and can show off by having it.

Low activity for the X play

While I'm still waiting for my phone to arrive I'm wondering why the dev community for the X play is so small. The LG G4 also suffers from this problem. Coming from a nexus device this is new for me. Maybe someone might have an answer for me. Too new phone? no code from motorola to work on Marshmallow builds? Unattractive phone? Everyone waiting for the MM code drops?
I'm happy there are devs at all, you're the reason I decided for the phone, so keep up the good work

Nexus as everyone knows has a huge fan following. This particular device hasn't much fan following. The stock firmware is already out. Unattractive I won't say.

The more owners any given model has, the more likely it is that there are programmers among them capable of android development. Then there's the question of how much of the drivers/firmware is available as open source or compatible third-party stuff. Finally, there's the question of how much the phone actually benefits from custom anything.
Currently, i am on a stock ROM stock kernel with xposed and gravitybox and i currently have no open wishes ... except maybe the LED notification light, that would only work with a custom kernel.
X play is great, even with stock
@AtomicStryker I totally agree. Stock 6.0 is fast and smooth. Really not missing the bugs or broken features of the latest CM versions
Get a themeable launcher, like Slim launcher form Xda, root for adaway or netguard if you don't root, and basically you're done ! Enjoy.

For systemwide themes, layers is there and everything is settled.
Even the sound performance on earphones is so good, no need of any sound mods. ?

I'm waiting on my phone too, but the community will hopefully pick up as more dev teams get their hands on the device and whatnot. Things should gain traction after the overall international release of Marshmallow on this device is done, I'd say. Fingers crossed.
That's true. I was using xiaomi mi3 . great hardware for its price. But hated to use KitKat forever. It has got great developers .
But once I lost the mobile I got mxp. Honestly it's got very less support at the moment. I expected lot of activity.
I used to have so many notifications in xda when I was using mi3

Best thing i did was go from the Nexus 5 to the MXP. The N5 needed all the dev work to be usable where as the MXP is great out of the box.

The battery life and the camera are the only noticeable upgrades of the Moto x play, but performance wise, the nexus 5 is superior.

I do agree with you on the superior performance of the N5 compared to the MXP. But let's focus on the important things, do we want to charge our smartphone everytime at the end of the day?
This is one of the reasons I moved from my beloved N5 to this new phone. Regularly, I use my smartphone for IM, browsing and e-mail. Do I need to have the best performance ? Certainly not.
More important is to have a phone that brings a battery endurance that lasts up to 2 days. The N5 in my 2 years of usage was like driving a ferrari. Unprecedented performance but an appalling operating range (battery life), charging the phone twice a day was nothing special.
As for the dev activity. The nexus community is unmatched when it comes to this. It can certainly be better but we have xposed framework + gravity box and also an unoffical cm13 build that looks promising to reach official status soon.
Cheers,
Ynternet

No Nexus phone offers Bluetooth aptX or µSD card support, the bright screen of the MXP is excellent in itself, the front facing speaker is loud etc.

Patience friend, Marshmallow is coming.
Joining the family soon.. To be precise Tomorrow.
I wouldn't compare Motorola's phones to Nexus line at all. Dev's love Nexuses, they always did. Sure, Moto's look kinda similar, being so close to stock and all, but it's not actually stock android right? You can kinda see the dev scene picking up slowly and I think it's only going to get better once MM is available worldwide.
On a side note, it's nice to see I wasn't the only one coming from Nexus 5 to MXP. Turns out there are plenty of people willing to trade off some pure benchmark performance for actual quality-of-life improvements, like battery and screen.

My previous phone was a nexus 5 also, roll on MM.

Is nexus 5x still a good choice?

Hi, I currently own a huawei p9 lite and I miss the stock android UI and the ability to flash custom roms. So I was wondering if is the Nexus 5x still good choice for 2016/2017 on the hardware and software side. Or can you guys recommend me some other device(s) that can meet my requirements? Thanks
Since he's got nougat, and from my opinion it is still good phone.

Worth it for Stock?

I really like the look and feel and hardware of the Honor 8. I hate the software though. Is it worth it to unlock the boot loader root it and then flash CM14.1 on it? Is CM stable enough for everyday use? Having stock Android on the Honor 8 would be awesome if it worked good.
Can i ask you what you dislike about emui? I thought that i would had hard time with it, but since i bought H8, i've never had the feeling to switch back to AOSP because everything it's quite good and even the look and feel is not so far to the AOSP ui (particularly with N)...

Same here. Really like 5.0 Emui nougat.

I've used AOSP based ROMs since the HTC Evo. Once you change the launcher and use your favorite 3rd party apps, there's very little about EMUI to actually dislike.

The software is just OK IMHO since N update. The lineage 14.1 ROM is still in testing and not ready for daily driver yet. I will flash it as soon as everything is working including FPS but until then I will stick with stock EMUI Nougat. The worst thing about this phone is the battery. Literally the worst battery life of any phone I've ever had.
Does anyone know as far as camera's go, which one is considered better, the Nexus 5X or the Honor 8?

Moving from Pixel to Poco?

Hi all!. I used to be flashaholic guys and when they released Google Pixel series I immediately fell in love with them. However after using Pixel phones my flashaholic side seems to be gone because what I now want it GCAM for decent photos, + Google Stock ROM/Pure Android ROM. Long story short, I had to sell my pixel phones and currently I cant afford to buy new pixel phone. So that's when I saw this device Poco X3 with good XDA community where I can find pixel + pure android based ROMS. It would be really great if you guys can help me out with below question.
1. Are there any almost perfect/bugless pixel/pure android based ROMs for android 10?
2. Is there any perfect/good GCAM port for this device?
Like I said before, I highly appreciate you guys input and I asked those questions because I need to make a decision. I have high respect for the devs and the community.
Hey,
I have exactly the same story, always been flashing custom roms, kernels and stuff. But then pixels came in, i always loved stock android thus usually flashed aosp based roms, so pixels came in i got myself a pixel 2 and didnt flash a single rom on it to date, had been using it for like 3years now (since release date till this week)
Now i wanted a good phone but didnt want to spend a lot of cash so got myself a poco x3 because i saw developers community was active on xda, it has already got few roms and i think gcam port will be available soon but honestly for me the stock camera is pretty fine
It is a good phone, i like the camera too. For my usage which is social apps and books usually, it works fine. Havent faced a major bug so far except for that my camera switch was taking 2 - 3 seconds, cleaning the camera app data fixed that too
I think it is a good buy, gives a premium feel too. As

No problem
I haven't tried all roms but this far Arrow OS seems pretty nice, I tried both Pixel Experience 10 and 11 and I can't say they're good yet, 10 gave me a headache with Play Protect not being certificated and 11 has poor performance, Arrow on the other hand is really really smooth and looks clean, I flashed 'Fixy' kernel as well and performance wise runs so much better than MIUI with also better battery autonomy, you did a great buy, the Poco Is a great phone, the only thing I miss from my old OP5 is the oled panel.

Hey, i'm in the same boat. Recently my Pixel XL battery died (too old to repair) and was thinking of getting the Poco X3 due to buget. @crazykas did you buy one, would love to hear your feedback, especially from a person switching form pixel to poco

I'm so sorry mate. I didn't see your post and seriously don't know whether it is good time to reply back considering the time. Anyway I had some other urgent matters to fulfill , hence I couldn't buy the phone. However I'm planning to buy it by the end of this month (hopefully) and will let you know my experience if you still have not but the phone. Again I'm sorry for my late reply
