if you have a custom recovery
download aroma recovery file manager (here https://www.google.co.in/url?sa=t&r...hp?t=1646108&usg=AOvVaw3IrkRJtoE8dYTO2APQ7bWj)
flash it and copy the file to your sd card
open it in pc and then change the lines back
put it back in the sd card
then again go to file explorer and then replace your build.prop with the new one

dwnld aroma file manager, then flash it with cwm. go to location of build.prop, and since you used root explorer (dats good), rename current build.prop to "build2.prop", den look for "build.prop.bak" and rename it to "build.prop". Now reboot your fone and see if issue esolves
Better u can use twrp [way beta than cwm]
Moreso, dwnld MiracleBox to help with the fix.
Good luck

I'm trying to install some of the standard apk's on my rooted Evo (myn's warm 2.2)... like footprints and setup wizard... without success...
method 1: I open up root explorer, make sure that read and write is clicked on, go to the apk file on my sd card and click on to launch, system asks me to confirm what to do.. so i click install.. asks me again to confirm if i want to install application and lists the permissions.. again i click install... goes to the screen with the progress bar for about 2 seconds then at the end shows an exclamation symbol that says "application not installed" and my only recourse from there is to click a button that says "done"... unknown sources option is checked on also....
method 2: take all the apk files and place them into a single zip file on my sd card... reboot into recovery and clear the cache... flash the zip file... confirm that it says flash complete and reboot the phone into android.. check my apps and confirm that nothing was installed...
method 3: same as method 2 but with each individual apk in their own zip file... same result...
I just have one more thing to say.................. WTF?!
Try pushing them through adb
Sent from my HTC HD2 using XDA App
Root is required. Make a Nandroid backup! (I accidentally deleted by build.prop file and bootlooped my phone)
1) Download ES File Explorer (Or any other root file editor)
2) In ES File Explorer, go into Setting > Root Settings and enable both check boxes
3) Navigate to /system/ and copy/paste build.prop to /sdcard/ (just in case)
4) Open & edit /system/build.prop
5) Change the following lines to make your phone think it is a HTC G2:
ro.product.model=HTC Vision
ro.product.manufacturer=HTC
OR
ro.product.model=Nexus S
ro.product.manufacturer=samsung
6) Reboot the phone
7) Install the netflix apk (if you haven't already)

HELP!
I've run into a problem with this. My phone has gone into bootloop.
Is there a way to copy the build.prop I backed up on my sdcard to the /system/build.prop without booting the phone,... I.E. from the cyanogen recovery mode?

I have the same issue right now but I don't have Cyanogen Rec Mode. I just have the ENG Bootloader and that's it.
Same issue with Samsung Fascinate
Anyone have any ideas how to copy back a build.prop if the phone is stuck in a boot loop? Adb won't work as it doesn't get far enough in boot to connect and it won't connect in recovery mode. As I can get into recovery, I may be able to flash a rom but that would be a worse case scenario.

I haven't yet tried ADB but since you've already answered my question then I guess we're stuck and must upload a stock rom and run it. I will try it once I get home but for now any new info would help. Sucks not having a phone at all
Can you not boot into recovery, mount system and use adb shell to copy the file from the SDCard?

Thanks. I forgot to mount system. I'm back up and running now. Using clockwork recovery, I mounted system and then adb was able to connect. I then used "adb push build.prop /system/" to move a corrected copy from my pc to the phone (I had originally used an on-phone editer that reformated the file and caused the issue). Rebooted phone and it booted. Netflix still doesn't work, (I changed the ro.product.model=Nexus S & ro.product.manufacturer=Samsung) but at least my phone is back.
FYI Update: I changed my build.prop to ro.product.model=HTC Vision & ro.product.manufacturer=HTC and now no longer get the unsuported message but Netflix now closes after log-in. I guess this was all for nothing for me.
Having problems with captivate
ES explorer wont work, so I had to buy different one. Changed it to Nexus S, rebooted, opened netflix, get an error message saying my device is not supported. Please help.
I'm rooted and unknown sources is on and I dl'd es file explorer and went into settings and root options and click on root explorer it asks cyanogen or HiAPK rom. Is there a specific rom I should be running? When i click root explorer then i get "test failed. This feature cannot run on your phone, and then pops up to grant superuser permissions. Any suggestions? Thanks
And now I'm running cyanogen 7.0.3 and select cyanogen from the pop up but still get same error please help I have the apk for Netflix but says needs update and won't find update and just closes so i believe editing build.prop will get it running but cnnt get in to do the edits thanks in advance

Hello,
I am exactly not sure how, but right now, I am stuck at Factory Mode. Call, Message, WiFi everything is working.
But there's no lock screen and power menu, it directly reboots phone and there is this yellow overlay of my phone information (attached screenshot). I tried ODIN and flashed the rom, but nothing works. Used my old Nandroid backup. But it's same.
From http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s3/help/fixed-exit-factory-mode-t2424015 and http://forums.androidcentral.com/sa...10-1-how-exit-factory-mode-into-usermode.html , I tried removing /efs/FactoryApp, but there is no FactoryApp on my efs directory.
Can anyone provide me their efs directory's content? Or any solution, how can I fix this myself?
It's Galaxy Core Duos, i8262.
Problem solved. I just deleted all the content under efs directory. Rebooted my Phone. And God, everything is back to normal.
not working

Just browse to ...\efs\FactoryApp with root file manager like Es File Manager, open file named "factorymode" as text with an editor and change state from "OFF" to "ON". On exit save changes, reboot your phone and thats it.
for all those who suffering from that problem ..
i managed to fix it this way ..
1. Extract/Flash Attached file as PDA in Odin ..
2. Root and Check EFS Folder (Now it's not Empty) ..
3. Go to "/efs/FactoryApp/" and open "factorymode" by TEXT Editor ..
4. Change Value "OFF" to "ON" ..
5. Reboot
>>>DONE.

i had the same promblem with my n7100 and here is how i fixed this efs folder being empty.
1st i reflashed the phone stock firmware then after i rooted phone and installed ES file manager.
2nd NOTE you may be able to see the efs folder but it will be empty unless you enable root access on the ES file manager tool menu.
meanwhile the efs folder will appear as empty but the files will be there. so just have to enable ROOT on the es file manager menu.
thanx

Thank you so much my brother! my cousin and I have been trying to figure out how to solve this problem for days and days. When we followed your method the phone was just back to normal. Thank you again. :good::good:
Hello guys. Maybe you can help me. I tried this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/att-...using-t3088431
As the step 6 says, there wasn't such a line so I created it. As some of the first comments stated, when I restarted, I got stuck in the AT&T logo screen. After a few attempts of restarting it wont do anything else. so I tought that a master reset would fix it. I was able to reset it however, it asks me to set up the phone (common stuff, set language, pick wifi, set google account etc) but when those steps are done it takes me back to language screen, and then repeats all over again
Im stuck in that infinite loop. One thing is that at certain screen I'm able to access the settings, and we managed to put the phone in "easy mode" which allows me to use the phone, however, I cant go back to normal mode because it will get stuck in that same infinite loop. This is what I have:
LG-H950
Android 5.1.1
Kernel: 3.10.49
V: H95011x
I need HELP!!
Thanks
First of all, the link doesn't work. http://forum.xda-developers.com/att-g2/help/enable-tethering-att-lollipop-using-t3088431
So you said that your phone is stuck in a boot loop. I think that you have to reflash the original kdz.

I just checked the link and is working. If you still cant see it, this is what it says:
Things needed for this
Root
ES File Explorer File Manager
SQLite Editor
Steps:
Open ES File Explorer and from Fast Access Bar, From "Tools" Turn "Root Explorer" on
Go to this folder "\data\data\com.android.prodivers.settings\databas e" and copy "settings.db" file to "\SDCARD\Downlad" path
Open SQLite Editor and go to "FILES" tab from the top and open "settings.db" file from "\SDCARD\Downlad" path
Hit "system"
Search for the term "tether" in all fields
Change the value of "tether_entitlement_check_state" to 0 (If the entry is not there, create such)
Copy and replace original "settings.db" file from "\data\data\com.android.prodivers.settings\databas e" with our edited "settings.db" file from "\SDCARD\Downlad" using ES File Explorer
Restart the device immediately
Enjoy your ability to set up a mobile hotspot!
And, sorry for my ignorance but, how do I reflash the original kdz?
Can someone help me?
Use LGUP, select refurbish, choose the tot file, press start.
As many have asked about this, I am writing this tutorial. It is a simple trick. But for that you need to root your device or atleast have TWRP recovery installed. I am going to give two methods, if first simpler method does not work (it does not for me), then go to second.
If you know how to edit build.prop, then just do this, add 3 lines given below:
Code:
ro.hdmi.enable=true
ro.hdmi.mirror.enable=true
persist.debug.wfd.enable=1
If you have any issues see method 2.
If you don't know what is build.prop don't worry, I will say steps.
Method 1
This method involves directly editing the build.prop using es file explorer.
Download ES File Explorer from play store
Enable "Root Explorer" in ES and give root permission. Click the "Root Explorer" and then "mount R/W" and then mount system "RW".
Now click "device" in ES and then go to "system" folder, you will find a file named "build.prop".
Open that file in ES note editor which is already installed by ES. Click pencil icon to edit.
Scroll to last and then add the 3 lines I mentioned in this thread and save the file.
Now simply exit the app and restart your device.
Now open settings then display then cast, click 3 dots on top right and enable Wireless Display.
Method 2
As I seen in many phone, the build.prop file restores to original during reboot, which is causing the method 1 to not work, so use this method to to do the edit from TWRP file manager. This method worked perfectly in my phone. See steps below:
Follow till 3rd step in method 1 and just copy the file "build.prop" to Internal storage.
Now edit the copied file in internal storage as mentioned in 4th and 5th step of method 1 by adding 3 lines.
Reboot to twrp recovery, you may use the app named Quick Reboot [ROOT] from play store.
Now in TWRP go to Advanced and then choose file manager.
Scroll down and go to the folder "sdcard" that is your internal storage. Now click the build.prop file there and choose copy.
Now go to system folder and copy/paste the file.
Reboot to android. Now do 7th step in method 1.
Screen cast can be enabled by magisk too. See this https://www.xda-developers.com/magi...iracast-and-tethering-and-disable-adb-notify/
For me that did not work so I myself made magisk module zip. Please check the attachment. Just download and install from magisk or twrp. It is tested to work in magisk 15.0+
Note this method may work in other phones too, but I don't have those phones with me. I have received many messages asking how to do this, so I am making this to help all of them.
Thanks to Dhruv_Agarwal in Telegram for giving me the 3 lines of code.
Please help me im using lenovo k8 note oreo. I have entering that 3 lines on build.prop then i rebooted my mobile it got stuck on bootloop,
Many many thanks your magisk module worked like a charm
i tried ,but still doesnt work
