[Q] Flashing single sim stock firmware on dual sim phone. (Samsung Galaxy S7) - Samsung Galaxy S7 Questions and Answers

Hello,
I was wondering what would happen if I would flash an SM-G930F firmware on my dual sim phone SM-G930FD?
Will the device get bricked?
Will it lose dual sim functionality?
Dual sim phones have 2 IMEI, will it become only 1 IMEI?
also, if I flash a firmware lets say from sammobile via odin, will I lose warranty? How they can know?
Thank you

It'll work fine, same firmware for both, no warranty lost

Yes, as long as the 5.1 1 ROM is for G920F you can flash it both for the single SIM (G920F) and dual SIM (G920FD) versions.

Of course you have the dual functionality after flashing XtreStoLite because it recognizes you phone as dual sim and automatically flashes the right files for a dual sim. But when you flash a single sim rom you wont have the dual sim fuctionality.
Lol....
Ive downloaded from sammobile g920f... bcoze g920fd doesnt exist as firmware. Idk how it works maybe all g920f packages have included dual sim function. Every official rom stock one, g920f you flash you gona have dual sim. Ive tested it... and others can confirm. Go in general there is a thread "s6 dual sim" and you gona find a lot answers. One of them is what i said
i have installed a variant for g920f egypt by odin mode but nothing changed at all even the csc code of my device is for iran ...it didn't change as nothing happen
You can safely flash the ROM for single SIM G920F to your dual SIM G920FD.

Single SIM Firmware on Dual SIM device

Hi guys,
I' currently thinking about getting the Xperia XZ.
I'd like to take the Dual SIM version because of the bigger storage. However, I don't need the Dual SIM feature and rather have quicker Firmware updates.
Therefore I'd like to know if I can flash the Firmware from a single SIM XZ to the dual SIM XZ?
Will I still have the 64GB of storage?
Thanks in advance

Flashing a single sim firmware on a dual one can throw your Device in a bootloop, although I've never tried it but I think flashing the wrong modem & baseband can definitely screw up your Device.
Thank you for this answer, although I have hoped for something more positive
Okay, I think I'll refrain from buying this phone then. Hmm...
Sorry to dig up an old thread. Did you end up trying this? I'm curious too.
Cheers
This should work. Remember having done this (actually the reverse) some years ago flashing the Xperia M Dual FW to the single SIM variant because -interestingly- the Android version of the Dual-SIM was higher (believe it was 4.2 vs. 4.1 or something). Anyhow, if it doesn't work, well, just flash the correct one and you're up and running again.
It may work if after flashing the single sim firmware, you use flashtool to flash only modem and baseband from a dual sim firmware.
Has anyone figured out how to do this yet? Is it safe? I want to flash a Single-Sim variant on to my Dual-Sim XZ as well, but I can't find any guide/tutorial on how to do it and also how to get the correct modem and baseband files.
Can anyone assist with a quick guide?

SIM 2 Locked after Custom ROM

Hi! My Second SIM Slot got locked up after installing a custom ROM. Is there a way to keep the second SIM Unlocked, I tried changing the CSC to the default one and it's still the SIM. BTW I got mine from Smart here in the Philippines.
If the second SIM is important, I'd go back to the working setup, until I researched a working, DS Exynos (?) ROM.
Why don't you install the original ROM, that supports Dual SIM capabilities?
Try that and see if it works.

930FD Dual Sim Network Lock

Hi, my phone is currently locked to carrier smart. Before flashing my first rom, as long as I had 1 smart sim card on any sim slot, the other one can read any other carrier. After flashing rom, if I insert 1 smart sim and another one from a different carrier, I get the network lock notification. It works fine though if I just use 1 smart sim only, or smart sim for both sim slots.
Any ideas on how to revert this? Or are there any unlocking apps I can try for free? Thanks!
Got that same phone few days ago, and as far as my knowledge goes the F and FD version shouldn't be network locked as they ship world wide (international model with exynos chip). From what you saying, its after you flashed the ROM you got the second card locked, so my first question would be what ROM have you installed ? and can you link me to it. 2nd idea or question.. Did you flash the FD ROM or the F one? the F is a single sim version, it does have the second slot in there actually but its disabled or locked, so it might be that the 2nd slot is disabled or something. 3rd, have you tried other ROMs ? or even stock firmware, you can confirm if the ROM is the issue.
And my advice is to not try the apps, most of them are either outdated that only work with exploits in old android versions, or a complete scam. Waiting for your reply.
Hi Salazar, thanks for answering! I already forgot what rom it was - that was about 6 months ago. I remember then I had a backup of my EFS and baseband using TWRP. I remember restoring those when I first encountered the problem - that's how I got my 2nd sim slot working again. Problem is I've already lost that backup, and when i reformatted my phone yesterday, the 2nd sim slot wouldnt work anymore. Just tried flashing a number of custom and stock roms earlier today - problem still persists. If you happen to have the same device (G930FD) - mind sharing your TWRP backup for baseband and EFS?
