[Q] Gratuitous posting thread?

Is there a thread where n00bs like myself can post gratuitously until we get past the 10 post limit, so we can contribute to ""Development" threads?
Please use the Q&A Forum for questions Thanks
Moving to Q&A
yes... questions and answers
Yeah, I feel dumb commenting on existing threads just for the sake of it so I can up my "posts" count.
I'll just use this one, only one more to go....
...until I hit that magic number! Of course now that I'm there I'll probably get banned!
One more for luck.

Skyrocket Section Etiquette

ok so this is to help keep the peace i am posting this on top of the forum rules they may overlap or intersect. My goal here is to help keep down on the issues of repeat threads, wrong sections, trolling, and any other hijinx that comes here.
1. SEARCH
yes sometimes its hard especially on your phone with taptalk because we all know how that works. Solution: Try using google search using keywords such as xda, skyrocket, and whatever your issues is this always works for me.
If your on a computer use xda's built in search tool or google as i stated above.
I personally promise 90% of all issues can be found on the web with answers if you just take a few minutes to search
2. IF ITS A QUESTION IT BELONGS IN Q&A
It does not matter what the question pertains to it is a question and belongs in Q&A i have reported tons of these here recently having them moved. i know you think that its a general question but no it belongs in Q&A ok.
3. READ
This one is kinda broad for a reason here we go
If you ask a question within a thread at least have the decency to read the last few pages to see if anything comes up that may answer your question im not talking the whole thread but maybe 3 or so pages. The reason for this is that i have seen alot of threads where people have a question answered then not 2 or 3 posts later the same question comes up. This leads to cluttering of the thread making it much harder for others to find information.
This also goes along with wanting to make a thread look at like 3 pages of threads to make sure you dont have a reapeat post this thing happens alot again it comes from lack of attention.
4. TROLLING/FLAMING
This ones a big one and im a massive perp for this and will be the first to admit it.
We need to stop the trolling its just getting worse and not fixing anything yes its hard to ignore especially for us old timers but we need to set the standard now this forum is too big for us to be going on like we have been.
Solution: squash the issues by reporting if you wanna report multiple times fine get your buddies to report fine but lets stop the hate i personally am working on this as well.
i know you guys are gonna ignore this and whatever but my hope is the message gets across to you guys and makes this section a more peaceful place for all
wanted to thank you for posting this even though most of it should be common sense but i only got 8 thanks per day

that would be a good idea considering the amount of people we've got in the community
I'll do my best to help in this. I'd love to see the old XDA again.
This should just get pinned
Great job Bro! Very needed thread IMHO.

You might mention in the OP that the best way to Google search the forums in to prefix the search with:
site:forum.xda-developers.com
So to search for 'skyrocket ics update' within the xda forums only would be:
site:forum.xda-developers.com skyrocket ics update
Also you could add links to the existing threads stickied in Dev. We all know their stickied for a reason, but many people overlook them and head straight for the new thread button
If you are going to help somebody, have the courtesy to check back on the thread so you know they are in the right direction.

forget pinning it.. this should be the first thing you see in like, 48 point font, obnoxious colors, when you open the forum.

Experiencing poor battery life on any jelly bean?

After installing this kernel http://sourceforge.net/projects/darksidevenom/files/latest/download?source=files my battery life improved by 1000%.

Reported the post? What's wrong with it?
One you didn't have a question so this section didn't work for the post.
Two don't endorse one persons work demeaning all other developers hard work.
Three post on a ROM thread somewhere don't make a whole thread devoted to the endorsement of one kernel that's dumb.

1. It's a questions and answers thread, so therefore it's an answer to poor battery life
2. I wasn't downplaying anyone's work. That's why I didn't post it on anyone's roms thread
3. I was just trying to help people out having poor battery life
Times I try to help people out and I get is flamed for it. This used to seem a friendly forum, now it's the opposite. I was in the sharing business for years and we never had such rude people even in warez.
Warez well that explains alot
Normally there should be a question before the answer.
You are demeaning others work by creating a single endorsement when really its based on how you use your phone I may get better life using a different kernel. Its all based on your own experience.
I wasn't being rude I gave you an answer if you don't like my answer then don't ask why I do what I do.

Saying x kernel improves my battery life doesn't mean it will for every one. Also Q&A as in ask a question and get a answer. So wrong section and technically considered a "best" thread. Locked

AOKP Rom - Standard Music Player

So I just have a simple question and would appreciate some feedback on the subject as the title implies, I installed AOKP Rom onto my Skyrocket and am loving it super fast and responsive. Only thing is there isn't a stock music player, so whats up with that?
Reported one it's a question two why not post in aokp thread

Because I tried to but Iam not allowed to post on the thread that they are discussing bugs and such from the rom. So I decided to post in the general forum, Im new just ran into a bug and posted a question.
So post in q&a where questions go let's use our brains maybe read the rules

Why not go to the market and DL I had to on my ROM install?

God you condescending little kid. Just politely answer his question and remind him to post in the Q/A section next time. Who the hell would listen/want to please a snotty little **** like you. You even suggested a thread that he shouldn't post in. Your spam is more annoying than people who don't follow the rules. OH, and guess what? Acting like you are is against the rules too.
Anyway
Answer: There just isn't, because there's plenty of apps to download from the Play Store. Google Music is what I use. He's an ass, but he's right by the way. Try to post questions in the proper section.
Yea basically reporting is awesome, do it to your hearts content, as it can only help the community... but when you report and then post everytime just trying to get some emotional response out of someone, your just a worthless troll... drama queens need to get the **** out.
Ever consider I have a reason like keeping track its hard to know what I have reported if I don't I've double reported a few times instead I have a tracking method

Locked, wrong section and nothing but trolling and flaming.

Why did the mods move all discussion to questions?

We used to have topics discussing next phones to buy, ubuntu porting to this phone, monthly cm7 stuff, etc.
Someone moved them all to the questions forum because... They had question marks in the title?
There used to be at least a couple posts per topic a day in them, now nobody says anything.

Unfortunately moderation on xda has always been uneven and of variable quality.

This is due to the disproportionate amount of users to moderators. As new moderators are added so are more forums. The moderator system has just been overhauled and things are going to normalize.
The policy is that ALL threads that ask a question go in the Q&A. even if is about a ROM, app, theme or accessory.
If you feel that your thread was improperly moved, then just report it for a review.
