Hello everyone!
it seems like HTC Sense Companion didn't like my rom changes, since I ran the 1.13.401.1 ruu, it asks my personal data and if I'm interested in this or that suggestion and that's all, no more footsteps statistics or weather update like it used to give me every day. Back on Maximus HD, just the same... I tried to uninstall updates, clear cache and data, to no avail...
Someone's got an idea what the issue is ? Please, help!
Logged into your HTC account? Stupid question, but that's where people forgot the most.

1st, thanks for the answer!
Yes I am logged into my HTC account, you're kind of forced to when you set HTC Sense Companion up.
But what I don't understand is why sync is off and can't be turned on in accounts and sync ? Could it be the issue ?
When HTC Sense Companion did work, I did nothing special but set it up and log into my HTC account the simplest way...
HTC Sense Companion
I am having the exact same problem and no one seems to have a clue what to do. I know it's not a big deal but it's driving me nuts! I was on stock ROM and Sense Companion was working perfectly. Then I switched to ViperU 1.7.0 (full wipe), and now Sense Companion doesn't do anything. It asked me to opt-in but after that no cards or notifications. If I had to guess I would guess it's some weird HTC server glitch. Others on the same ROM are getting it to work. If you find out anything please let me know. I contacted HTC chat support and the chat rep supposedly contacted the HTC dev team. They said the app will not work properly on any custom ROM. I believe that's bull since others have it working obviously on a custom ROM.

What ROM did you use to initially setup the Sense Companion app? That is normal for the sync to be off. That has nothing to do with it. I have a theory that the app somehow gets messed up if you switch to a different ROM and try to set it up again. I was actually thinking about switching back to stock ROM to see if it goes back to working normally, but the app isn't worth all the hassle.

Perhaps you're right. 3rd party roms has no guarantee of it.
I disabled the Sense Companion...It doesn't help me a lot.

I do use Sense Companion for my daily footsteps. I 1st set it up on stock/locked status. It still worked when I set my U11 up again after unlocking it. It still worked when I dirty flashed Maximus HD. It went nuts when I ruu to 1.13.401.1 to get the ota in order to have the 1.27.401.5 firmware correctly flashed...
I wonder if there's a way to completely reset Sense Companion...?

What I believe happens is when you first set it up it collects your software info and numerous data and sends it to some HTC server. I believe those who have it working on a custom ROM dirty flashed like you did once it was already setup on stock. It's also possible that HTC started checking what software the user is running at a later date. Once you wipe the App's data and start over again, it collects the data again and if the software is not stock, the App will not work properly. This is my best guess. The only way to make it work on a custom ROM once you've wiped the App's data is to flash back to stock, setup the app (opt-in etc.), dirty flash to custom ROM and it should work as long as you give the App time to collect the data on the stock ROM. I'm sure there is a way to fool the App into thinking you're on stock, but no one seems to care. I've reported it in the ViperU ROM thread and most people have uninstalled the app and could care less. Unless a developer cares there is no other way IMHO to get the app to work properly. Sorry you're having the same problem. I think you and I are the only ones that seem to like the app. I pretty much have given up since I don't have the technical knowledge to hack or fool the app.

I'm now waiting for the 1.27.401.1 ruu (being already on the matching firmware and not yet S-Off), hoping to sort it out...
Yes it stops working on custom ROM's I guess. It's no longer working for me either. There will have to be a fix. I'm just gonna disable it until there may be a fix.
By the way, I'm currently on stock (nandroid backup restored), but uncomprehendingly Uncertified in play store. I think it has nothing to do with this issue because I'm certified again if I flash Maximus HD and Sense Companion still not working properly...

I can't believe it. The app started working late this afternoon. There was an app update 2 days ago. Not sure if that has anything to do with it but it's working perfectly fine now. I guess it works on a custom ROM after all.

Manufacturers and service providers will tell you nothing works properly on custom ROM's and your phone will explode. Never even mention custom ROM to them they don't have a clue lol. I took my HTC 10 into Verizon for a new SIM card and the rep must of thought I was too stupid to install it so he was man-handling my phone and we he saw the red writing on boot up he automatically went into panic mode lmao. I told him to just give me my phone back I got this.
I'm back on Maximus HD 2.1 after I ruu my U11 with the freshly available 1.27.401.5 dugl ruu.
I shall see if HTC Sense Companion works again as it used to.
I'll report about it asap.
I've just received an update for Sense Companion, hoping harder it'll work again very soon...
At last, Sense Companion's working great again since last Saturday and this after I ruued my U11 with 1.27.401.5 ruu, reinstalled TWRP and flashed Maximus HAD back 3 days before...
I'm still puzzled, but hey Sense Companion's back on the saddle

this has been going on for a few months now, when i try to shut the phone down completely it just reboots itself. the only way to get it to turn completely off is by pulling the battery and leaving it out. as soon as i put the battery back in the phone it autoboots up. at first i thought this was a CM7 issue but in the past 2 days ive tested leedroids rom, honeysenceHD, and a few others and the phone still acts the same. its never been an issue but i would love to be able to turn the phone completely off if i ever needed to. someone suggested that its possible my bootloader is corrupted. is there any way to fix this issue?
This is a problem with the Advanced Power Manger, search for the fix.
Sent from my Inspire 4G
ok well can someone point me in the direction to fix this problem.....search finds NOTHING for a fix
what apps do you have installed can you list them? They can sometimes cause problems...
Make sure "Fast boot" is UNchecked under Settings, Power.
i dont see a POWER sub menu in settings nor can i find Fast Boot.
apps are as follows
everything that comes stock with CM7
Battery Calibrator
Beautiful Widgets
COveroid
Dev Tools
DSPManager
FasterFix
Linpack
Quickboot- just to see if it would turn the phone off and it doesnt
setCPU but not using it currently
Spare Parts
thats about it a few of those apps i think are part of CM7 but im not sure
Look for fastboot in settings, applications.
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA Premium App
theres nothing in applications that allows me to turn on or off FASTBOOT
ok so i was told theres no FASTBOOT option in CM7 so anyone else out there have any clue as to why my phone will not turn off and stay turned off when i power it down?

Well at this point, if you think that continuing to try other roms other than what you've already flashed won't help, you might just try flashing a completely stock image, with the stock hboot/recovery, etc., and see if indeed something went haywire with your bootloader, as you mentioned someone had suggested to you.
Try the RUU in the stickied thread, for example. The recent OTA ROM by Attn1 has the hboot removed from it so I don't think that would be a good choice for this attempt, because you want to get the stock bootloader back.
Now, I can't speak to the validity of that suggestion about the possible corrupt bootloader... I don't know either way whether or not that could be the cause, but if you wanted to at least try it, then my suggestion above would be the way to do it, I would think.
There would be no reason for it to continue to behave like this on a completely stock ROM, other than there being something defective with the phone itself.
It's a clockworkmod issue with daylight savings time. Change your date from automatic to a date before the time change (I just go to Jan) and your phone will shut off and stay off.
"Change your date from automatic to a date before the time change (I just go to Jan) and your phone will shut off and stay off. "
i dont really understand what you mean by change it to a date/time before the time change. i turned off the auto time but dont see where your talking about with setting the date change

So you have re-flashed to stock and the issue went away.
What rom are you flashing after root?
Did you check the MD5sum of the rom?
Have you tried a second rom?
Try just flashing to a stock rom like TCP;
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=982963
Edit, just read yer above post... None this is going to help. Lol
i havent tried flashing anything, i flashed it back to stock, rebooted worked fine. So i decided to just reroot it. its stil STOCK atm just rooted. its obvious that its a software issue id just love to know what and how to fix it.
When you're flashing to a new rom are you clearing all of your data every time? If not you might want to give it a shot when you try to flash to another rom.
Hi all great forum. I have rooted my desire s to saga 0.6.0 but i don't think it worked that well. so now i have formatted my SD card and and done a factory reset on the hand set. The rom 0.6.0 is still on? I want to return to stock then retry again? Any ideas? Many thanks.
Afraid it doesn't work like that. The SD card is mainly used to store your personal files and some application files. The ROM that you installed is actually stored within the phones internal memory.
In order to try again you do not need to go back to stock, just boot into recovery and install a new ROM. Typically you will need to do a full wipe, LBC has a zip for this on his website.

When you say I don't think that it worked so well? what do you mean? What happened that you weren't expecting?
LBC v0.6.0 custom ROM is a good stable ROM I am running it myself.
Did you ensure that before you flashed the ROM you ran LBC wipe script as mentioned above?
Did you also ensure that after you flashed the LBC ROM, that you also flashed a selection of additional Add-on's, that add Sense 3 functionality. You don't need all of them, but this is down to personal preference. (I use Lock Screen & Weather, black lock ring, SMS app and camera.)

Without trying to influence you too much. Rather than go to the effort of returning to STOCK now that you made you device S-OFF.
You'll find that the LBC ROM you have is very close to stock but generally improved in all areas. It's based on the latest HTC released stock base.
So why don't you try.
Running the LBC Wipe script then re-run the LBC v0.6.0 ROM ZIP.
Once you have installed the base v0.6.0 ROM and booted and setup your phone. You should download ROM manager from the market and use it to take a backup of you device/ROM, so that if you then don't like any of the add ons that you then try you can always restore back using your back up without having to setup all over again
Once you have a backup you can boot into recovery and try a few of the Sense 3 add ons that you'll find at http://saga-lbc-mod.de/add-ons/
good luck with your decision.

So just to confirm you ran the LBC WIPE script and then the LBC v0.6.0 zip? then booted? have you installed any add ons?
When you say doesn't work what happen's when you turn Wi-fi on? does it error?
Can you go into Settings->About Phone->Software
and write down the details Kernel version, Radio (baseband) version etc...
EDIT: did you test the wi-fi previously after first LBCC intsall? as we've not done anything that you've not done already? so this is strange? daft question, rebooted router? and tested connection to internet via a PC?
EDIT2 : back in two hours got to watch MANCHESTER UNITED NOW!

Hi, i've bought an unlocked T-Mobile HTC Sensation and was running Android Revolution HD for Sensation gingerbread. my Camera app has suddenly stopped working... I've tried updating to latest ICS from Android Revolution HD 6.5.1 but still the camera is not working. when i start the app... the screen flashes and then again I'm back on the home screen. Strangely, when using application "mirror" it starts the front camera... and that is working fine... and i've tried multiple apps from market for back camera...but its not working using any of them... can you please help me out with this... any help in this would be deeply appreciated.
Thanks

this is weird did you tried other camera apps?
if its still not working then
do a superwipe and flash rom again and see(this method erases data ..so backp them before hand)
Similar problem, if i click the camera or camcorder icon the screen goes black, it either stays black until i take the battery out or it crashes and restarts?! Weird, cant use it to take pics in any other apps either. front camera is fine on skype though...!? everything is uptodate nothing was updated recently?! Anyone
(Im on stock)
This happened to me once when i was stock. I would do a battery pull and it would work again..but finally did a hard restore through recovery and cleared all the caches and that worked. Now im rooted and on energy GB rom and I have not had that problem anymore.
Just flashing a new rom did not help. I actually had to do a factory reset on the ROM as well..in the Setting/storage.
Never ran into this problem
Sent from my HTC Sensation using Tapatalk 2
Have u tried maybe a different rom??
sent from thy phone
I would suggest clearing the app data.
Have you news. I have the same problem and have yet to find any solution. If you have one I'd be grateful for it.
LuckyD
Go to Task Manager>>Advanced>>All apps>>Find the Camera app and select it>>Force Close if it is running & then Clear Data.
This should fix it.
If not, get this app. Go to primary and secondary camera, & check if they both work.
If it works, then there's a problem with the stock app.
If not, there is either a problem with the camera or with camera access.
I would suggest reflashing your current ROM, since this seems to solve issues, many a time.
Try installing another pyramid
have you tried to download a special or customized pyramid from the sensation android development department and then tried out your 4g??? a customized pyramid + tweaks will allow the htc camera to work because the htc family usually creates htc's like as if they were real babies.. the htc's adapt to you and then little by little all the problems like "over-heating reset, camera faults and random keyboard touches" are common problems with the htc... installing a different pyramid or returning it for another new one will usually fix this..

As far as I can tell, your camera is not being detected.
I would recommend that you do this:
1>NANDROID backup
2>SuperWipe (it can be found in this post at the very end)
3>Re-install ROM (Remember to check MD5 before installing)
4>Check if the Camera works.
If not, then Super Wipe and restore your previous backup.
If it works, get back to me. (PM me if I don't reply)
If you have further questions, feel free to ask.

Sorry if this is a repeat but I can't seem to find a similar problem. After staying on froyo for 2 years my phone started to slow down and give random application errors. I decided to try a new rom for the first time. I tried installing clockworkmod recovery and almost bricked my phone. A flash with gingerbread using odin got a working os on my infuse again. This came with red recovery already installed. For 2 weeks I used this rom and found that my dataconnection was super slow, random app errors and almost no wifi reception drove me to try something else. I flashed gingerbread bootloaders to get rid of the rainbow recovery(literally could not see a thing in recovery) and factory reset, cleared cache and flashed CWM 9 for infuse this post. This rom is running fast, data and wifi are great but there is a serious error. When I make a call, after selecting the number to call the screen goes black and unresponsive. No amount of button pushing will bring it back. Also you can see that the IR light on the front of the phone next to the phone turns on. The call is made and when the recipeint hangs up the phone will come back. If there is no cell signal this does not happen, the call screen normally appears and you can cancel the call. I have cleared cache, wiped data and dalvik cache, then reflashed this rom and the problem persists. I also downloaded a 3rd party dialer which displays the same symtoms. Is there a way to fix this? Is there a better rom to use? Any suggested workarounds would be nice. I would just like to get my phone back to a stable working os as I use it for android development. Some things specific to my situation: I live in Poland now. My phone is unlocked from ATT&T to work on european networks. This was working fine on froyo. I would post this on the developer thread but I don't have permission to do so yet. Thanks in advanced for any help/suggestions.
Go to delopment section and find cm10.1 by scott hart and odin back to stock with root/cmw follow instruction exactly the way the are coming from stock and should be good to go. And install GB bootloaders it will take care of not seeing recovery clearly and u can find how tos in stickies in delopment(I think) but do or research before u ask a lot of question and post bug. Its a good idea to read last 3-10 pages on a tom or going to install to know if there are any major issues or bugs.
This is just advise I have done what I telling and have not problems but i am not responsible if u brick ur phone

Thanks for the help!! How is JB running on your infuse? GB boot loader was installed before CWM 9. Recover is working fine now. As far as I can tell no one else is having this problem with the dialer like me.

Thanks for the help. I did try a different dialer which I downloaded from the market, but it had the same problems. I have already moved on to Jelly Bean and so far everything is working great. One problem that I still have is my Titanium Backup of my contacts wont work. This happened in ICS as well. Titanium says it works and suggests a reboot. After rebooting still no contacts. Unfortunately I didn't have these contacts synced with my Google account. Any ideas on how to extract the contact information from titanium and import it to the contacts app? I know the backup is good, I was able to use it when I updated to Ginger Bread.

I've got an idea, I think my problem is because I didn't make a fresh backup after I flashed ginger bread. I think the 'contacts' app must have changed database formats between froyo and ICS. If I were able to take that backup file and load it into an AVD, then restore my contacts and export them to my gmail account I think I could recover them on my phone without reflashing GB to do a fresh/compatible backup. Do you think it's possible or would most likely fail. I've never tried to bring files into an AVD but I do know that I have internet connectivity while debugging apps. It seems possible that I should be able to send files to the AVD as well.

Long story short.. I believe my Galaxy S5 runing CM12.1 is being hacked by an individual I have upset.
Symptoms include:
-Gmail account password changed(not by me)
-SMS from email addresses, spam.
-SMS from random numbers with random characters (vs6ve&$+ugevbs)
-Root icon in status bar wont turn off anymore
-Recent task list showed my system files being accessed by my file manager app when I did NOT access.
-Tons of FC's from all kinds of apps
I have wiped all possible partitions in TWRP 2.8.5.0 and reinstalled newer CM12.1 nightly.. No change.
Changed my cell number, wiped, only enable root when needed, and contantly disable mobile data out of paranoia..
STILL got 1 text from random number with random characters on first day after changing my number and wiping..
Googled and found this info:

Any help?

Never seen/head of anything like this before but my advice would be to flash your device back to stock using Odin and the stock firmware for your phone. That should wipe it completely and remove and kind of root access that a malicious program could be using. If it continues then all I can think of would be to perform the above procedure and keep the device off until the person you think it is gets bored and stops.
It does sound very strange though as I haven't heard of anything like this being used on average user devices after being wiped.

Good idea about stock firmware. Although after re-rooting I would be just as susceptable to another intrusion as I am now..
Considered staying with stock TW for encryption too..
I just want my AOSP! =(

I know how you feel wanting AOSP but when I said flash stock I meant full stock with no root. At the end of the day it's worth it to be able to safely use your phone if you're being targeted.

I gotcha.. But it's like he wins.. Kinda
Sigh..
Thanks for the great advice though.
Your device can only be hacked if you have physucally installed spy software on your phone

Solution:
Install a DIFFERENT recovery (or a different version, your current one might be infected or the stock recovery)
Wipe everything.
Pull SIM card out.
Install OFFICAL STOCK ROM via the OFFICAL flashing tool.
Don't use your phone until you change your number or mobile operator.
DO NOT ROOT!
Use this app to check if your phone can be hacked via Stagefright: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.zimperium.stagefrightdetector&hl=hr
Profit.
If you are still getting hacked burn or boil your phone and make sure to video tape it, upload to YouTube, and post link here.

There is no way to do it without root.
You could just root, set density and unroot, but then the program you are using to root (iRoot, KingoRoot, etc.) might infect your phone.
Also remember to have USB Debugging ALWAYS disabled (if you are not using it) and download apps only from Play Store.
This is completely hackproof (unless StageFright Detector detects that your device can be hacked).
(Make sure to always update your frimware to the latest version.

Done, done, and done, thank you.
I thought after all that.. it would be ok to install twrp, then CM again.. fail..
Just got a notification that my sim card is invalid. Exact time coincided with my verbally denying home internet access to said hacker..
Wow
After reinstall sim card is fine
Something else to remember: There aren't *any* Android
phones out there that are 100% impervious to all the
Stagefright attack vectors. Not even the latest Nexus
devices running the latest Lollipop 5.1 varieties.
My supposedly SF-patched Desire 816 is still vulnerable
to 4 possible SF attack vectors!!
I was worried about possibly having been hacked
via my baseband, but visiting the links you supplied
has probably shed a little light on how I was 1st
hacked.
You've really gotta love Android to put up with all
the security holes!
