Mi A1 Android One ROM is available now - Xiaomi Mi 5X Guides, News, & Discussion

Hey guys
Now the Mi A1 Android one ROM is avaialble
you can download it from here and as you can see it's a normal fastboot rom from xiaomi
the question here remains if we have a Mi 5X device and you tried to flash this what the outcome will be ?
I noticed a different codename as well Mi A1 called "Tissot" and Mi 5X called " Tiffany"

not working

your mi 5x will break :highfive:

Some russian users on PDA4U confirmed that the Android One firmware is not compatible with the Mi 5X. Yes the hardware between the two devices is identical but the partitions are different between the two devices due to the A1 using the A/B system that the Pixel devices uses. The A/B systems means that when the device gets an update it will be downloaded and installed on the second system partition and when you restart that second parathion will swap to become System A instead of B to make the updating process seamless. Mi A1 is the first device to get this feature aside from the Pixel as far as I know.

got my A1 today, have used the logcat caught the OTA link, seems the OTA file may have a final check by google after they received it from Xiaomi, because the download link is from google server.

So at this point there is no way to install the Mi A1 ROM unless someone just make custom ROM out of it to suit the Mi 5X partitions and in this case no ota and it will be included a custom ROM or custom builds for very update that come out for the Mi 5X. It's a mistake to trust Xiaomi with any solid release anyway.

Chinese Fastboot Mode?

Hey everyone!
So, I flashed dalvik and bionic optimizations for the OnePlus One that I found over on the Nexus 5. When I booted back up into Android, all of my apps were missing, and everything kept on crashing. So, I booted into Fastboot Mode, but instead of the Cid logo which is usually presented, this message came up:
己进人fastboot...
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
The English translation is roughly "You have entered fastboot...". Everything still worked fine. I flashed my system partition back, and everything was okay. But, strangely, the Chinese fastboot message still appears instead of Cid. I kinda want Cid back...does anyone have any solutions? And yes, my phone is the international model.
i also have the same screen for fastboot. to make it worst i dont have root access but have a chinese version of cwm on the device. donno what to do.

Well you can also try flashing the logo.bin partition from the CM11S image cyngn has at https://cyngn.com/products/oneplusone/, but if your bootloader is already in chinese, you might just want to flash the device back to full stock using the fastboot image.

Yeah, it will fully revert your device to the factory image. Once you are done, if you have the 64gb model, make sure to flash the userdata_64gb.img manually after otherwise your system will only show as 16gb.

Yeah...that's a bit too much to lose just to change how my fastboot looks. Thanks for your suggestion though.
So upon further research, it looks like this is the exact same fastboot screen that OPPO devices use!! Somehow, I've gotten the OPPO fastboot mode one my One! And OnePlus denies involvement with OPPO....

I did'nt provide two builds for K428. You flashed the wrong one. I provided only one build. Read the first post again.
You got that error because your bootloader is locked. I extracted the original recovery from the KDZ file, just for testing.
I need the original recovery image from K428. If you can extract the Recovery Img file from the Recovery partition, extract it and send it to me as PM.
How did you enter fast boot mode?
Oops my bad, I thought I saw you say it was for all k10 variants...yeah ill get you the 428 recovery img as soon as I can...as for getting into fastboot, I did it the old fashion way that I usually do for T-Mobile phones...adb reboot bootloader, then fasboot oem unlock...took me straight into fasboot mode instantly...ill be in touch, thanks
full functional without any bugs? neat.
can you provide instructions on how to flash?
yes my bootloader is unlocked btw and I tried the 428 image you posted as well...same result...still working on getting the stock recovery image for 428

easy...enable developer options in settings by hitting build number 7 times, once in dev options enable OEM Unlock and enable usb debugging, plug phone into PC, then open Minimal ADB and Fastboot cmd window and allow phone to communicate with PC, type adb reboot bootloader which will take you to a screen with instructions to unlock, which is basically just to type fastboot oem unlock...then your phone will go into fastboot mode and you can check if your bootloader is unlocked by typing fastboot getvar unlock
pulling the stock recovery image is proving to be more difficult than I thought as I do not have root, which is why I was trying to install twrp so I could do systemless root with supersu...kingroot doesn't work for 6.0 MM...get back to you as soon as I can.

I am able to reboot it using RSD Lite and then the phone goes into fastboot mode:

TRansfermode : USB connected
I must be missing a step, I also noticed that the RSD Lite Vanishes and yet in the task manager it still shows SDL.exe running for a while then vanishes.
But in the program it changes state:
I'm using the latest Version of RSD
Thanks in advance.

I was on open beta 2 is why I received very first. That's the order they put rollout in. To ob 1& 2 before stock devices.
Install in inactive slot (after ota) in magisk is working for upgrading from android 12 to 13 (using oxygen updater zip file) ?Edit: this doesn't work because the device reboots when the installation starts.
Remove magisk boot image from magisk app, update and turn off the device...boot to fastboot and do a fastboot boot magisk_patched.img (you have to extract the boot image with payload dumper and patch it before or after the installation with magisk. Then do a direct install from magisk (on the temp root boot image).
On android 13 you will have this warning on every reboot: Orange state, Your device has been uplocked and can't be trusted.
Thanks for this! I have not had root on my Oneplus 9 for a while and it was driving my _crazy_. Had to do fastboot flash boot boot.img instead of fastboot boot boot.img to get magisk to work properly.
I had to jump through some extraordinary hoops to get it done including breaking out an old Win10 laptop since I could never get my new Win11 laptop to recognize my phone in fastboot, despite hours of work trying to install the drivers to no success.

I will build pixel experience and few ROMS more, now that device tree is set up. I still remember the first ROM I built for this phone. I just had to change battery, phone is like new still.

Pixel Experience build will be ready for weekend, probably. Will be last build for this year until I come back from New York for holidays. I have a threadripper so builds finish within 1:10 hours.
I like it so far. I notice a bit of a battery drain. Could just be my device.

Kernel needs some adjustments still.
I think it might be the G apps as part of the issues. I am now using NikGapps core and the drain is not as bad.
The rom by itself is not too bad on the battery.
I got trouble installation failure.
E1001: Failed to update system image.
Updater process ended with ERROR: 1

Before instllation it have LineageOS 17.
My twrp version is 3.5.2 fbe.
I tried to flash PixelExperience and DotOS, it worked.
Does someone have any idea?
Just out of curiosity gave it a try today: same twrp, same error msg, twice. Formatting data etc...nothing works. What's going on?

Use recovery.img and adb sideload. Our twrp is outdated for Android 13.

Thanks, that did it with the OS. What's strange is that after rebooting I don't succeed in adb sideloading any v13 Gapps package, i tried 5 different versions and after adb sideload starts sending the package and does start on the phone there's always "Error: recovery error in package..." Any ideas?
For gapps use twrp, its a bit messy having to change but it works.

after installing the rom, I flashed recovery back to official Twrp 3.2.1 to install gapps but when I boot to Twrp the touchscreen doesn't work. Which twrp do you use?

thank you so much. you breathed new life to my old pal.
I've spent 1 hour with it and so far so good. Only bug I found is Night Light being glitchy but very minor.
Hello, where can I download the boot.img to root with magisk? I copy the one that is in the zip of the rom but it gives me a corrupt message. Thanks a lot!

It's in the sourceforge folder
Can anyone help me how to install this custom ROM on my Xiaomi Mix? This is my very first time on how to install a custom ROM. What are the basic things to do? What to download, where to download and how to download and install.
Thank you very much.
