Phone is running on the stock unlocked U1 firmware with a Verizon sim card. When I go to configure Mobile Hotspot - tap on "Show Advanced Options" it suddenly crashes with an error, "Setting has stopped" with an option to tap on restart app.
I have no idea why this is happening. Hotspot works fine though. What could be causing this? Could someone post a screenshot of what it shows on advanced options? Thanks in advance.

In the Settings > Phone > Services > Network Service pane, I changed my Preferred network to "Home only" because I live close to the US and don't want my phone switching to an american tower without my knowledge.
Because I did that, whenever I power on my phone or do a Soft Reset, there is a "Network Status" notification message that just says "Home Only"
How do I get rid of this annoying message?
LoL, sorry to bump an old thread, but I used the SEARCH function for this same problem I'm experiencing and this thread came up
Here's the fix! Found it myself
hi. can anyone help me please?
i have recently updated my sgs2 to android version 2.3.6. i noticed that network data mode doesn't seem to be working correctly. even if i have enabled it already still no connection. The notification icons are not even showing. Already enabled the "use packet data" setting under mobile network settings but still not able to connect. also tried resetting the apn settings still no luck GPS icons are also not showing when trying to enable via the notification bar.
After upgrading to ics, i cannot see the "network" option in the settings menu, which means that i cannot select mobile provider manually, i cannot enable data roaming abroad etc.
Any idea where it went??
When you are in settings, tap on the mobile network icon to go in specific settings.
Got it. Thanks!
I would like to use my old At&t Galaxy S3 phone like a tablet, though keep my old deactivated sim card in it. Of course with that comes the same popup message after every reboot. Does anyone know how I can disable the popup message "Sim not provisioned mm#2"? The phone is rooted.
Do I need to edit the build.prop like you would with the "No Sim card in the phone" message?

Did you ever find the fix for this? I also want to do the exact same thing.
I found this fix, that seems to work:
1. Turn on airplane mode. (Settings > More > Airplane mode to turn of cellular connection)
2. Then turn wifi, Bluetooth etc back on.
Thanks
I have an unlocked US model (SM-N986U1). I remember when I first purchased the phone I was able to use mobile hotspot or usb tethering through my ATT plan. Today, I tried to use that function and it doesn't work anymore for some reason. Anyone has this issue resolved? I am on One Ul Version 3.0 and Android 11.
I had the exact same issue after installing One UI 3. I have a Note 20 Ultra Factory Unlocked on ATT as well!
What worked for me was the ",dun" trick.
You just need to duplicate your current APN and add ",dun" to the end of the "APN type" field.
Heres how:
Settings > Connections > Mobile Networks > Access Point Names.
Tap your current APN and take a scrolling screenshot of everything.
Open that screenshot in a floating window or splitscreen mode (for reference).
Back out of the screen you had just screenshotted.
Tap "Add".
Duplicate all the values from your previous APN into this new one (using that screenshot)
Make sure you did not make a typo!!
Now before you save,
under "APN type" add ",dun" to the end of it.
Now tap the 3 dots at the top right, tap "Save".
Select the new APN you had just created and your hotspot should work now!
If it doesnt, try toggling airplane mode on then off. This worked for me. I shared it on Samsung Members and others had reported back with success as well!
Hope this helps
P.S.
I got an OTA update today and now i have wifi calling (finally!).
(I had to manually check for it to appear)
