Keep your headphone adapter on your keys - Essential Phone Accessories

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01MSYT8HH/
I wanted to point out that with Apple going 3.5mm jackless last year we now have lots of nice adapters to allow you to keep your adapter on your keychain. I picked one of these up and it works perfectly with a snug fit, I don't see the adapter coming off unless you want it to.

I don't know.. I think something that kind of combines a clip and cable wrap might be more secure and convenient. I feel like something like this might be too easy to pull off the adapter if there's tension. Keys get snagged once in a while.

Yeah, I'll stick with Bluetooth. I only use wired Beats in-ear buds when walking or running. I only use my Bose cans when traveling, so Bluetooth again.

When are we getting a car mount

Samsung announced before the galaxy s line was released that all phones were getting among other things, a car mount. Its the only accessory I have really been pining after. Anyone have any idea about when its coming out?
car mount
I got a generic one off of ebay for $5. the suction cup is worthless but it came with spring loaded vent hooks also which keep it secure in my truck
i have a feeling it has something to do with the line out not working till froyo comes out, like with the home dock. at least i hope so. if we see froyo without a car dock i'm gonna be pissed.
I've ordered two of the Media Docks, $20 each shipped. One will stay in my office on my desk, the other I will be customizing to fit into the ashtray of my X5 so I don't have to fumble with the car charger and headphone cords anymore since 2.2 will enable the headphone jack on the dock through the MicroUSB port.
I finally just got rid of Sirius because my new car has bluetooth that I can play slacker through. Soooo I went and ordered one for $5 off ebay. I dont expect it to be top notch.... but as long as it holds the phone I am good.

This is one thing I've been waiting for since I got my epic on release day. Starting to get sick of waiting. I want to probably get the Arkon beanbag mount but I hate that it doesn't come with a car charger and it's so freakin hard to find a car charger that has an angeled head (on the point that plug into the phone) so I don't have a goofy wire curved around the top of the phone.
I still do not have any mount or car charger yet as I still want to wait for the official dock but my patience is wearing very thin on this issue

Proclip vehicle mount with adjustable ipod holder works 100% perfectly and allows enough adjustment to use with Epic bare or with any of the common snap on cases and such.
This was my biggest concern when I got the phone as well as I wasn't a fan of the top-mounted usb input Samsung chose to go with when most other devices are (logically IMO) bottom-mounted precisely because of cradling convenience.
I picked up a Bracketron universal vent mount. I then got a 3' car charger (straight) and a 3' stereo cable to input the audio into my radio. I lashed the two cables together about every 6" with black wire ties. It's really only a little over 1' from my radio to the mount, but I just let them loop over and hang down the left side onto the center of the console when I'm not in the car. And the extra length is nice as it allows you to easily pull the cables to you when you hop in the car for a quick/easy plug in before putting the phone in the dock. Perhaps not the most elegant solution, but it's passable and semi-efficient until a more official solution comes out (and even then I'm not a big fan of the landscape layout.)
This thread needs pics and links! I recently tried some little cheapy one at WalMart for $7, and while it was a super tight fit, it bounced around too much while driving to make it reasonably viewable to watch movies at the same time.
I did this with my epic and used a cheap crappy case I found on eBay and the cradle/mount from Garmin Nuvi.

Works amazingly well and is custom fit for our epics.

Search for this on ebay:
Samsung Epic 4G Rubberized Hard Case Cover Black
Although any generic hard case works.
I ordered one from talkietech.com. $48.90 shipped.
http://www.thecellguru.com/Products/26862
$32 shipped.
Anyone get one? I am guessing by the look that it does not work with a case.
Can anyone post a few more detailed pics when they get it please? I'd like to know a few things like if it has a connection for audio out, and does it work? If not, can you plug in a 3.5 audio cable or does the mount obstruct the jack? How does the "cradle' attach to the "mount"? Could one use just the cradle part with their own mount? How much tilt/swivel does it allow for? TIA

Review - Brodit Active Car Holder

Hi,
I searched a long time for a good car holder. Now I bought the brodit active holder and want to give you some feedback on it.
Positive:
- Build quality is very good. The plastic doesn't look cheap but very good.
- Despue the fact that the brodit holders are not glued or drilled to the dashboard, it's very very stable.
- The holder is active, that means if you push it in into the holder it gets energy
- The cable to the cigarette plug and the plug itself is looking good as well. A little light on the plug is showing that energy is.
- The car specific part can be fixed without drilling. So in a leasing car you can remove it after some years again.
- Inserting and removing the phone is easy. It's not to tight and not to loose, just perfect.
Interesting to know:
- I read that the brodit car holders a consisting of two parts, the car specific part and the device specific part and therefore you can switch the holder between the cars. That doesn't work as I expected because the device specific part and the car specific part are connected with a screw. So you can't easily take it to car A today and car b tommorow.
- The same applies to the orientation of the phone. Landscape is possible. But you have to open the screw with a scredriver. Adjust the holder as you like it and thight the screw again. You won't change it from day to day or even during the drive.
Edit 01/31/2011: Both is probably possible if you have the right extra parts from Brodit. Thanks for your feedback guys.
Negativ:
- There is a "open area" for the headspeaker plug in the holder frame. But this one has to little tolerance (or HTC changed the dimensions of the phone). I couldn't insert the plug. It's not important for me as I have a bluetooth connection to my auto radio.
Summary:
I would buy it again. It's a bit expensive (ca. 75 EUR for both parts of the holder) but worth the money as I haven't find something comparable.
Any chance of some pictures to see it in action? im after a car holder aswell
Good one
Brodit are the best car holders in my opinion i use them for years now and in different cars never had any problems whit them it wont fell of the fit is perfect if you get the right part to place it in your car they made for every car its own part so look out you get the right part for you brand and type of car
Regards Wielo
Yu cannot movt from car to car because you have to fasten the holder to the clip with screws. But you can buy 1 clip for each car and buy the removable adaptors (I don't remember how they call them, something like clip & move) so that you can easily transfer to different cars.
Orientation: not true, you can just rotate and move at any angle you like.
Charger: bad thing is that it is not recognized as dock which would be very nice to have.
Also, I received one which was very tight for the phone, so tight that I couldn't take the phone out of it and most times, the sim cover would get off and stay in the cradle. I received a replacement which seems to have been altered to allow more room for the phone. If you have similar case, you should request replacement from brodit directly since resellers deny the issue.
Some picture would be really helpful!
I am looking to go Brodit's way - I particularly like the option of the molex connector for getting direct power from the power, thus hiding cables! The price though is kind of heavy...
Regarding the picture, you can see it pretty good on that site. Go with the mouse over the small pictures:
http://www.gps-haus.de/Zubehoer-n-H...nzuenderkabel-fuer-HTC-Desire-HD::104540.html
Regarding the "moving it from one car to another". You are right. There are some extra parts that can be bought.
Regarding the orientation, you may be right as well. I didn't know that there is that much extra parts you can buy. There is probably one that allows it. With my solution it's not possible. At the moment I am a bit overwhelmed how many extra parts there are. It's difficult to know which one is good for what.

That's not a big problem for me. I use tasker in order to configure/control the phone. If the bluetooth connection to my radio is connected, I have a trigger to do whatever I want.

Car Holders and FM Transmitters

I have been looking for something like this:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/3-5mm-FM-Tr...974552?pt=PDA_Accessories&hash=item45fc14f218
I want one i can put on the windshield or dashboard. I have seen others that plug and are supported by the cig lighter holder and i dont like those.
Thinking of getting the one above unless someone has any better recommendations?

Homemade Phone stand for my G2

I've been wanting a dock/stand for some time now, and don't like the docks on deal extreme and im finding it hard to find the first party dock from when the phone first came out. So I decided to make my own stand, one that would still allow me to plug in/charge the phone.
It's really simple and is made from a shisha tin (hookah tobacco tin) and 1 paper clip. The tin's lid still lifts off as well, so I can store my second battery, sd cards, cable, etc in the tin. Sits at a nice angle, is great for making calls over speaker phone since the phone is elevated, works great for remote apps like the XBMC app, and makes for an awesome alarm clock.
It most likely works with most phones (depending on where your ac plug is), so it's not necessarily for the G2, but the G2 is my main phone. Works with both my extended and retail battery in place, and how the paperclip is in the tin, it's easily bendable and can be formed to angle other phones. The tin is haevy enough and the phone sits at an angle that makes it so the stand sits strongly, no wobble or anything, even when I use the phone in the stand.
Everything I used was:
Shisha tin (could use any tin)
1 Paperclip
Exacto knife - to make holes in tin
Pliers - to bend paperclip accurately
I can take more pictures for you guys if you'd like.
actually, that is not bad at all i might make something like that as well
ahaha looks cool
A friend today told me to route a small usb hub inside the tin and to integrate the usb cable for the phone. I like this idea, however, I need to get ahold of a small powered usb hub.

haha starbuzz, the best. My fav is bluemist!
Are you talking about so you can just plug a usb into the back of it to keep it charged and a micro usb coming out the top?
If that's the case all you need is an usb extension cord and a micro usb cord, and chop it if you feel comfy soldering, or find a short enough one, and solder both sides to the tin.
Kinda vague instructions but hopefully you get the idea.
That's awesome, I just got out of work a bit ago and thought of this as well. My soldering skills are way beyond usb cables so it'd be no problem for me.
Awesome custom job, nice to see some hands on creativity.
Looks cool. Do u have an extended battery on ur phone?
How much? lol, it's a cool looking dock, love the DIYness of it.
Did you grind down the sharp edges of the paper clips at all? Or add rubber tips to prevent any scratching? The USB Hub idea would be good too. Should pitch this dock to an OE manufacturer and start making some money off it!
My backlights are white on my G2. How did you get yours blue?
pretty sure they're white, just a bad picture.
so i love anything homemade, love to build and modify to save money and have thing the way on want when you cant just buy it. so i bought it, well no need they sell pretty decent docks for the g2 on ebay, maybe im just getting old and lazy...

RoadWarrior Car Dock FTW

This looks to be a great AIO car dock solution for pre-order (already pre-ordered mine):
RoadWarrior Universal Micro USB Car Holder, Charger and FM Transmitter
http://www.mobilefun.co.uk/roadwarr...-holder-charger-and-fm-transmitter-p38895.htm
I can't even begin to tell you how many cars that will not work for because of the location of the cigarette lighter, including both of mine.... for $5 more, you lose the neato microphone and decade old FM transmitter, but the iBolt xProDock I reviewed works a whole lot better!
Oh wow, that does look really nice. The design is perfect for the location of the cigarette lighter in my car!
Yea, my car (02 Explorer) will not work with that. The front cigarette lighter is near the center console... kind of where the passengers elbow would be on the console...just right in front of the console instead of on top. Would have to turn my head like 90 degrees away from the road to look at it. *starts singing Danger Zone like Archer*
