Help explaining how to root/flash etc. - Xperia Z5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have a little experience with this custom ROM scene as I rooted and flashed a ROM to my old Xperia Pro. My battery life on my Z5 has been awful recently so I've been thinking about trying to flash something to it to make it run better and give me more battery life. Thing is I have no idea how to start. My bootloader is locked and when I looked up on the phone if it could be unlocked it said it couldn't. So my question is, as a noob how would I go about doing this? What do I need to get and download, do you have a ROM and kernel that you think is best. And if there is some guide tailored for the Z5. Any help for the dummy noob would be really appreciated.
Thanks

[Q] Xperia Ray Questions (downgrading firmware)

Hi people,
I'm very new to Android and xda forums and I've got a question to ask.
I upgraded my fairly new Xperia Ray (stock unrooted) from 2.2.3 to 2.2.4 recently and would like to downgrade it back to 2.2.3 because of the lack of CRT effect and also the new firmware seems to drain battery life a lot more. From the research I've done on these forums,
1. can I download the generic world 4.0.A.2.368 ftf file and using flashtool to do it?
2. also, after flashing to the generic world 2.2.3 firmware, will the stock operator bloatware be removed? or do I have to root my phone to do so?
3. the bloatware from my operator can be uninstalled but somehow they auto-reinstall on reboot all the time. is this normal?
Thanks in advance for any help & answers.
Cheers!

[Q] Rooting Xperia Mini

Hi everyone. I'm new in this website and I REALLY need your help. I want to root my cell phone (xperia mini st15i), and I want if possible to give me a trustworthy video so I can root it step by step. The reason of this thread is having a video from you guys that I know I can trust. My build number is 4.1.B.0.587 Kernel version is 2.6.32.9-perf and I'm using Android 4.0.4. Hope that you'll help me and not being pain in the ass. Thanks!
There's a sub forum for xperia mini. Better to ask it in there. I had the same device one year ago. Easiest way is unlocked the bootloader and install a CWM added kernel and flash superSU zip file. There are many ways to root it without unlocking bootloader.

[Q] Upgrade while maintaining root

I currently have a xperia z3 running 4.4.4 rooted. I would like to upgrade to 5.0.2 or even try out other roms. My problem is I don't know the do's and dont's when messing with android (previous iPhone user).
I know that the DRM Keys are a big deal and I have those backed up. I just want to know what is safe and how I can ensure that I won't end up bricking my phone.
If anyone could point me in the right direction it would be greatly appreciated, thanks!
If you want to upgrade, you have to flash pre-rooted 5.0.2. Its the best and easiest way for you. Just flash it and you are done. Check the guides in general section.

HTC Desire 620G Dual Sim

I recently came into the possession of a HTC Desire 620G Dual Sim (it was my father's) Android 4.4.2, Kernel 3.4.67, Chipset Mediatek MT6592 (Online is liste as android 4.4.4 but that is a lie). After days of searching the web and reading countless forums I came to the conclusion that this is a very unpopular and abandoned smartphone. I really want to change the android version on this phone, I know how to root, I learned from this forums. The only problem I have is that I can't find any android versions ported for this phone, I need anything newer than 4.4.2, I would like 4.4.4 or lollipop as i heard it runs better. I checked all custom androids none has support for this device, I cant even find this phone on the clockworkmod and TWRP list of devices. What do I do now? If I can't even install a custom recovery on this phone? So to sum this up, I need a custom recovery mode for this phone and a ported android version newer than 4.4.2. I would appreciate any help.

Hi, even if my answer has nothing to do with what you asked, you seem to have the abilities to make a backup copy of your stock rom, that's waiting that you still have your stock rom in that phone and it's european model.
Could you please be so kind to make a backup copy of your rom?
And by the way, there's at least one russian guy that has cooked one rom for this phone, even if it seems to have some issues yet.
Thanks in advance

Hi, I'm very sorry I flashed MIUI v5.8.27 Beta, a rom found on these forums ported by a guy, maybe the same guy you speak of. I regret it now, I need the stock rom back, I liked it better. I did found something over the web a stock rom but I'm to wuss to try it because there is a chance I'll brick my phone and this is the only phone I got. Do you want to try that stock rom? I'll find it again for you.

That's very kind of you. I have in fact found also a stock Rom, but is not the same the version as my phone's, plus is a Rom for phones sold in India and I bought mine at in Europe, so I prefer not to "risk" this time.
There are some sites that really have all the roms, but they want money to let you download anything, is quite "strange" and I will not say anything else about that.
Sadly, HTC doesn't provide free download for any of their devices, like they used to do and I am not sure about what could happen if I download and install one of those branded roms that can ba apparently downloaded.
Finally, what I want is simply recover the "normal" functionality of this phone, because after rooting, I lost the camera function, the whole system became absolutely unstable and getting worst, so now it resets itself without warning just like that and it's not providing any acoustical messages anymore, so I know I will never root again a phone with any of those "tools", I will do it old style, connecting with a command line terminal.
So maybe that Rom you're using may fit the bill for me, but I couldn't find a way to install cwm or twrp on this phone to install any cooked Rom and I've been really out of this chores for quite some time to know enough to find the right way to do this on my own.
So thanks for any help you can provide and I think it would be really nice to provide this Rom here because it's more than one person who needs it and apparently no one really cares about this phone, there are several people with these problems.
