Hi,
I have been using my honor 8 for over 5 months now.. the phone is woking perfectly fine.
Now all of a sudden my phone wont connect to the home wifi network.. it is connecting to all other networks and all the other devices are also connecting to this specific network.
Whenever i try to connect it gives me an error saying "access denied to network" i did "forget network" and tried to re-connect. Now it says that the password is incorrect. I am typing the correct password. I have done this setting with other devices on the same network and they work absolutely fine.
I have restarted, powered off and on my phone but nothing seems to help.
Can someone please help me with a solution.
Have you tried switching ON/OFF your router?!
Change the password of router and try again to connect

One more suggestion, set your wifi to Open and connect, then re-configure it with password again.

Hey.. i turned the security off and set the wifi to open. the phone connected to the wifi and it was working. I again switched it to password protected and my phone gave an error while putting in a password saying "access denied to this network". i went on to change the security type from WPA2-PSK to WPA-PSK and now my phone is connecting..
Thank a ton. Your suggestion led me to try this option as well. Such a relief. Was about to factory reset my phone.

Factory reset may solve the problem.
However, it is good to know that your phone is connecting.

I have a problem connecting to wifi on my home router. Whenever I try to connect to it, it just says "Obtaining IP address from" then it would later go on to say "Disabled". I have entered the password correctly, made it forget the network and connect to it again, and have restarted both the phone and the router. That has not seemed to fix the problems. On other networks such as the free wifi at Border's or others it would connect just fine. I'm currently using Cognition v2.3b8.
Any suggestions? Thanks
Edit: Nevermind, I did a factory reset and it seems to be working now.
Have you tried android id changer? Not sure if the cog version you are on will let you write the new id or not, but worth a shot

Ok...I just tried that, it didn't seem to change anything. Thanks for the suggestion.

Seems to a 2.2 "intermittent" non-predictable issue. Faced this sometimes when on 2.2.
I have the problem but in reverse
I am using 2.3b8. I can hook to my home protected wifi but can't hook to any free open wifi connection
I am also facing the same problem as Slow_DC4...
Any help would be really appreciated ....
Looking forward to hear from you guys
Sarveshsj: I ended up reflashing the ROM and it fixed the problem, so you may want to try that.

Hi, I have a wifi problem on my Nexus S since i turned it off for few days. The Wifi worked before i turn it off. Right now, it always stuck in "obtaining IP address from..." and never got connected. I have done a factory reset but it still the same. I removed the batter out and turn off wifi and make a reboot. All not working. Anyone having same problem?

Not being able to obtain an IP is most likely a router issue. Check your router and make sure DHCP is still enabled and that there are spare IP's availabe.
power cycle the router and see what you get after that.
turn to fly mode, and turn back. maybe it right.

Hi Guys
Just bought a Rhyme for the wife, was working fine but after updating to ICS the phone doesn't detect my router but detects all the others and I can also connect to the others (the open ones).
I have tried factory reset and downloading the RUU and manually flashing it but still the same problem.
I have also searched the net and the XDA forum but no luck, any help will be really appreciated .
Thanks
Since it's your router, you must know the necessary information to connect to it. Try adding a network manually (type in SSID & password).
Hi
Thanks for your reply.
I've tried that but doesn't detect it at all, says "not in range" even though I'm sitting next to it.
All my other devices work though.
Tried resetting the router? If that doesn't work, remove wireless security on the router & try again.

Check in your WiFi settings and make sure it is NOT saved in the list of previous networks. If it is saved, press it and select the option to forget the network. After that, disable and then re-enable WiFi. If you network pops up, then connect and you're done. If it doesn't connect, then follow the directions below.
If your WiFi network is not save in teh list, or it does not show up after following the directions above, try to manually install the network. This is accomplished differently based on your Android version. It may be in the settings menu in WiFi to manually add the network. Jellybean has a + symbol at the bottom of the page to add one manually. ICS and GB both have it hidden in the WiFi menu. Simply input your SSID and password, and tap connect.
Thanks guys
I've reset the router and it works if I leave the name of the ssid alone but when I change it back to what it was before it stops detecting it again.
So I reset the router again, just added a password and all's well.
Funny problem though.
Good to go, thanks & thread closed.
I was able to connect to my home WiFi network. Then, I installed AirDroid which wasn't working. I typed in the IP and port as mentioned, but it wasn't working. So unistalled the app and disconneted the WiFi on my device and restarted it. Now, it detects the network but isn't connecting to it.
Any solution guys?
I tried resetting settings, forget and reentering the pass, restarting, etc.
Thank you!

Restart Your Router.
I tried resetting as well. But, it wasn't working. I guess it was some connectivity issue or something similar. It was yesterday night.
This morning, it connected sans any trouble.
Anyways, thanks for the reply.
So since I got the Marshmallow update on my Moto G (XT1540) I am unable to connect to the WiFi at work, I have the correct SSID and password and it worked fine on Lollipop, but keep getting "Authentication error" now that I have Marshmallow. I have tried doing a Forget Network and rejoining it and doing a Network Reset in the Backup and Reset settings menu.
Our internal help desk and myself are puzzled by it isn't working... We have a fairly current Ruckus WiFi deployment, using WPA2 and EAS encryption. This WiFi SSID is specifically intended for employee's mobile devices, and no one else has reported any issues, but to our IT staff's knowledge mine is the first Marshmallow device attempting to access the WiFi.
Any thoughts, or any way to track down what the real cause is? Would a logcat show me anything?
BUMP
Anyone else having issues with WiFi since Marshmallow? I only have this issue at this one site, always the same Authentication Error and I know it is not the password (on my company issued iPhone I have deleted and added the WiFi network several times, so the password is correct). Our help desk is stumped. I am assuming this is related to encryption type (TKIP/AES) from the error. This worked fine on Lollipop...

Were you able to resolve? I had no wifi issue until today. I am in the process of changing routers and just installed a Linksys 1900ACS. When connecting my phone to wifi, it gets stuck on "Obtaining IP address". However, when I try to connect to the guest network, there are no issues.
Update: I wanted to keep WEP to avoid changing the settings in all my wifi cameras. But when I changed to WPA2 Personal, all worked. Don't know why WEP did not work as it did with my previous router.

No, we were not able to find a solution other than I connected to the guest network, which oddly is on the same APs, using the same encryption, just a different SSID and passphrase, which works fine. Can't explain it or find a solution, sorry.
