Can't Find Adware on Android Phone - General Questions and Answers

I have an LG G3(D851) that seems to be infected by Adware. Last night my device was fine. I was on crdroid 3.6 since it's release with no issues. To prepare for crdroid 3.7, I backed up all my user apps with Titanium Backup and then rebooted to TWRP and ran nandroid backup. I then wiped my data, system, dalvik/art cache, and cache. Flashed crdroid 3.7,opengapps micro, and magisk 13.3. Rebooted and installed TiBu from the play store and restored all my apps. I downloaded 2 new icon packs for Evie launcher from the play store. Suddenly I started having random ads pop up on my screen while in use. Naturally I removed those 2 icon packs thinking it had to be one or the other(one said it contained ads). Despite deleting them both the ads continued. I grabbed ESET from the play store and made a scan. No results. I removed ESET and tried Malwarebytes but again it found nothing. The ads continue and I am sick and tired of them. Any help?

The easiest solution without doing all the monotonous hunting through system files?
Boot to TWRP, select wipe, then select advanced wipe, select system, data, cache and dalvik cache, swipe to wipe.
Go to home in TWRP, flash your ROM, gapps and magisk, reboot, install TiBu again and restore your apps. This should bring you back to what you had before installed the icon packs, this time don't install the icon packs.

Market Issue

After having issues with my Gallery and other things, I have flashed up to TNT 4.2 and did the supplicant and the market fix. I can see most apps in the market and I can install from the market, but when I go to MY APPS the only ones showing are my purchased apps. I manually restored apps from Titanium one by one, as I was not sure what I was doing. All apps are working but don't show under My Apps in the marketplace.
They do show in Settings under Downloaded applications. Any idea how to fix this? I have redone the market fix, numerous times.
Did you wipe your data/cache before or after you installed the supplement? I had the same problem because I didn't. So I did that and then did the market fix and it worked perfectly.
If that doesn't work try side loading a older version of the market and replace the current one. For a while I used the market apk that was on my moto droid, because i was having some problems with the one that comes with the rom.

Keep in mind that it seems that each one fixes the market, but hides apps that you could see previously. I have tried all three and have seen different apps that other wouldn't show.

Download one free app, from the Market. Then check "My Apps" again. This seems to be a requirement for all the sideloaded apps to show up.

I wiped data and cache before installing the ROM but did not wipe data and cache before the supplement. Should I just go to recovery and wipe data/cache now and then retry the market fix?. Will I lose anything by wiping data and cache? I am not sure what that does.

It wouldn't hurt to try. So I say go for it.
Robeet,
I d/l a free app and and that app along with my paid apps show but none of other free apps.
AJkid93, will I lose anything when I wipe data and cache?
Yes you will, but if you don't want to lose everything you can dl titanium backup and backup everything. You can also do a nandroid backup just in case wiping the data/cache doesn't help. This way you can just revert back to the way it is before you wipe all of the data.

Some things I learned from personal experience

I received my G Tab yesterday and within 4-5 hours last night I had installed 4 different ROMs, installed multiple kernels, and tested a ton of apps on each. I even got in to a boot loop, couldn't get the standard market fix to work, when installing at one point it FCd and then said it couldn't install more, etc, but I worked them all out. A few things that I learned that may help people (All instructions are with TNT 4.4 but work with other ROMs in different directories)
Market fix:
The standard market fix that is floating around is not always sufficient. To be sure that it will work, you need Titanium Backup installed.
Steps
1. Settings->Applications->System applications->Market then Clear Cache (if any) then Force Stop
2. Go back one and then Google Services Framework then clear data then Force Stop
3. Go to home and open Titanium Backup
4. Select Backup/Restore tab
5. Select Google Services Framework
6. Select Wipe Data
7. Go to home and open market (it will error and close)
8. Reboot your tablet
9. Open Market and you will have full market (I can't find anything I don't have)
----------------------------
For me, my boot loop came after installing 4 ROMS and on TNT 4.4 it crashed while using an app and went in to a loop. I had cleared everything in between all the installs but something must have been left over. I needed to repartition my sd card in CW. It worked great, but remember, select 2048, and for the second option select 0 or it won't work http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=865245
Also, remember to back up the titanium backup folder and anything else to your computer before doing this. It will wipe everything.
-----------------------------
The last issue was when I was installing a few apps the market FCd and then when I went back in it wouldn't let me install the apps that were going to install. I tried all the regular things like wiping data and cache but it didn't work. What worked was removing the corresponding asec files within the .android_secure folder at root.
-----------------------------
Almost every single app I have installed works great. The only major problem so far? The Grooveshark app. TinyShark works though.
I just got my Gtab too. I installed VEGAn and the kernel to go with it with the latest ClockWorkMod. When I installed Titanium I got an error saying 'ROM is not rooted' or something similar to this.

Playstore keeps crashing on CM9 OS

I noticed that playstore keeps crashing everytime i try to install an app.
i installed the last rc1 build and it worked fine initially, but since yesterday night, since i installed the last maps, currents, street view etc...
But since this morning i tried to install facebook, and now play store just keeps crashing
Anyone else with the same problem?
i deleted cache and delvik, deletede play store cache. uninstalled updates, tried to install the new jelly bean version but it didn't help.
Any ideas?
tried reflashing the rom over it, deleting delvik and cache, and reinstalling gapps package, no success here.
Try clearing the app data for playstore.

Yes, i forgot to mention it, but it is the first thing that i did...
i removed phonesky.apk from /system/app, installed new apk, didn't help, from the second play store tries to update or download something, it just crashes.
I will wait and try a bit further before considering full wipe... :-(
here's a logcat

Did you try to completely uninstall Play Store then reflash the GApps.zip from recovery?
It sounds like something is glitchy with the app or files associated with it. If you just tried to install new versions over it you might have kept what's causing the problem. So do a full delete of the Play Store.
It can't hurt!
yeah i had tried that, the second the phone booted, the crash notification appeared right away.
I wiped everything except sd card, installed other rom, and so far so good,
i guess i'll wait for the next release of OS...

Problem moving to another rooms

Hi,
I was on Cataclysm and tried today to move to PureNexus and Chroma, but when I finished I only got 5 apps installed. In both methods I made a clean install: system, data, dalvik, cache. I checked sum5 when I downloaded twice the files needed for installating. The reason I move to a new room is because Cataclysm is not supported anymore and I wanted to have the last Google security patches.
When I boot and appear the pop window detailing the apps installing, I can see that some of them are not installed because it goes from app nº1 to nº4, for instance. I´m in TWRP 2.8.0.3.
Any idea why this is happening?
Thanks.
Done, it seems it was the TWRP version. I updated to 3.0.2 and solved it.

Play Services force-closing - fix?

Yes, this is a straight-forward fail - I am running a CM13-based ROM and flashed a nightly build (has been redrawn meanwhile) onto my N5 without backing up first. Right after the first reboot, I received a "Play Services has stopped working" error message and this keeps appearing all the time. Additionally, the Google Now Launcher has disappeared from my launcher list - and of course, all the Play Services-dependent features don't work, i.e. Chrome, Contacts sync, Play Store and so on. So, my phone basically is useless.
I suspect all the problems arise from the non-working Play Services. I managed to uninstall them after deactivating the Android Device Manager and re-installed the latest version, but this didn't fix the problem. Is there anything else I can try? Or is there no way around a complete wipe?
have u flashed Gapps?
Tried it, but didn't help either. I'll just go for a full wipe now. But thank you for answering!

try clearing Cache and dalvik cache and then delete the host file from "etc" folder!
I should've tried deleting the host file. Wiping Dalvik and Cache didn't work before...
Anyway, I took the opportunity, put my 32GB mainboard in and set up everything from scratch.
Are you using amplify?
No, I didn't use that.
