[GUIDE] Downgrade firmware 2.1x to 1.5x (S-OFF) - HTC One A9

So you want to use the latest custom ROM but you're on 2.1x firmware. That's not an big issue as long as you're S-OFF. If you're not S-OFF download, install and run Sunshine-3.5.8 (or higher when available). Follow instructions and pay the $25,= You'll be S-OFF within 5 minutes and it's really worth the money considering the functionality you get in return.
Now that you're S-OFF it's time to downgrade the firmware. In order to do so you need the right RUU which can be found in this threat. Download the RUU (zip) to your computer.
Within this RUU you'll find the firmware we need but it's encrypted. Now download the RUU_Decryption_Tool.zip and extract it to any folder of your likings. Let's call it c:\RDT\ e.g. The executable in this folder is a command, not a GUI. Copy the RUU to the same folder RDT and rename it to RUU.zip.
Open up a commandprompt (windows-key - cmd.exe) and head to the folder RDT. Now enter RUU_Decryption_Tool RUU.zip You'll be asked what to do in a menu. All you need is to extract the firmware, nothing else! The tool will decrypt the firmware and copy it to a subfolder. Move to the new folder "firmware" and compress all the files within this folder to a ZIP-file called firmware.zip It does not have to be signed since we're S-OFF.
We've got two important files now. The firmware.zip and the RUU file. To be able to use the RUU rename it to 2PQ9IMG.zip and copy it to the root of your SD-card. While we're copying anyway you might want to copy your custom ROM, GAPPS etc. to the SD-card as well!
Copy the firmware.zip to your adb fastboot folder
Boot your device into download mode. It will ask you if you want to install the RUU (2PQ9IMG.zip). Press volume down to pass. Open up a commandprompt and enter the following fastboot command: htc_fastboot flash zip firmware.zip First time will fail but no panic. Your device will reboot and repeat the command by itself. The firmware will be installed, this doesn't take long.
Once finished, reboot your device again into download mode and install the RUU (volume up). When it's done reboot your device and android will show up. Wait until setup screen so that all partitions will work and reboot again to download mode. Now flash the latest TWRP. Open a commandprompt and enter: htc_fastboot flash recovery twrp-3.1.1-0-hiae.img Reboot into recovery mode and do a data wipe. TWRP will ask you to comfirm this by typing "yes". Once done select advanced wipe and wipe the dalvik/cache and system partitions. After this it's business as usual. Flash your custom ROM, SuperSU, GApps etc. and reboot.
done. :good:
I hope this will help out some people. I've done this several times and it's pretty safe. Nevertheless, don't blame be for wrecking your device if something goes wrong!

As I can remember Qc 3.0 support came with an update. If I downgrade to 6.0 will I continue to use Qc 3.0 ?

You need s-off to disable signature verification on all partitions since your home-made firmware.zip will not be signed with HTC's key.

Any htc one a9 device supported

It's there a way to extract those HTC Keys and Sign the zip with them ? I mean to get the ''certificate.Perm and Key.pk8''.?

The only key that can be extracted from a signed RUU or a signed firmware is the public key present on every phone. The private key used by htc to sign their files is, afaik, impossible to know. I'm pretty sure devs wouldn't waste time on S-OFF if signing your own file was possible...

please help, I kept getting this error about sensor_hub.img
it never flashed successfully

MOD hboot 1.55 X920D Remove Red Text

You must be S-Off to do this
Just do in bootloader
1) fastboot oem rebootRUU
2) fastboot erase cache
3) fastboot flash zip firmware1.55MOD.zip -- in this point please wait a moment
4) fastboot reboot-bootloader
optional reboot in recovery for test
Important: The flash process halts at around 75% to 90% on phone screen! This is normal and a safety precaution!
The last few percent is the reboot, which is NOT happening automatically, so you get a chance to check the console output before
reboot to make sure it is safe to reboot!
note: if needed for another hboot just tell me

[Q] Help to recovery Sensation after bad flash

Hello everyone.
I am hoping someone might be able to help me out.
I had been using the sensation for a while with the s-off bootloader with no problems.
Recently I tried to update it to see how it would work on the lolipop builds that are out.
I updated the recovery to 2.8.3.0 TWRP and tried to flash the rom.
It looked like it completeled normally but when I went to restart the phone it will only boot into the fastboot of the boot loader. I can not get it to boot into the rom or recovery.
I have tried to reflash the recovery using fastboot but get the following error:
FAILED (remote: image update error)
I used the command (fastboot flash recovery recovery.img) to try and flash a previous one that worked.
I can use fastboot to boot the recovery though and then it will load.
But when the recovery is loaded or by using the adb terminal I can not access any of the partitions.
It seems like the partition table is corrupted.
I have been trying to find a hboot to reflash but I also can not seem to use the command
fastboot OEM reboot RUU
That command gives me the following error
...
(bootloader) [SD_HW_ERR] read data fail in CMD18
(bootloader) [SD_HW_ERR] SD: Read data fail..
(bootloader) [ERR] partition_read_emmc(732): error 2

(bootloader) Start Verify: 0
(bootloader) erase sector 130560 ~ 131071 (512)
(bootloader) emmc_erase(1852): sd_write_sector failed!
OKAY [ 0.081s]
finished. total time: 0.082s
Currently the phone is on Firmware 3.33
s-off
hboot 1.27.110
Does anyone know where I might be able to find the firmware / hboot to reflash to see if that fixes the partitions on the phone?
Or any other way to fix this?
I am finding it hard to try and dig up files that have working links for this device anymore.
If I am not mistaken, reflashing the firmware should be able to fix it though.
I think I might need to find the RUU and just reflash back to stock and am waiting on the download for that as we speak. Just dreading going through and rerooting the phone again.
The wire part was really tricky.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you for your time to read this.

Okay so the only good news I can see is that if you can make the RUU run it will not s-on your phone so rooting will be easy but, if fastboot oem reboot RUU doesn't work then your in alot of trouble. When you download the RUU (any I'd one for the sensation of XE will do) run it and then extract the .zip (search on Google if you are unsure how to) when you have that extract everything and then move system.img data.img and anything rom related out of the folder. Your aiming to only have hboot related items and the android txt file in there. Zip it back up by highlighting all the files and make a zip file, not by zipping the folder. Rename the zip file to the device model number with img (i think its pg58img.zip) then pass it to your sdcard and then reboot to hboot.
If your hboot can "update" it will hopefully be able to restore/remake your damaged partition table but if that fails your options are really limited. A J-tag would be able to restore the devices partition tables forcefully but you would need a repair shop to do that.

Yeah I think I'm toast then.
I tried grabbing the default Rom .zip and flash with boot loader and that failed.
Not sure if it needed to be on a gold card or not though.

Shouldn't make a difference as you are s-off.
What happens if you issue the command. Fastboot getvar all
Does it work?

TUTO : Unbricking HTC one mini M4 by Mayafthecool

HOW TO UNBRICK HTC ONE MINI ( M4 )
Hello everyone I’m new in this forum and this my first TUTO so if you have any suggestion or question about this TUTO please comment it down
Firstly I’m not responsible of any damage even XDA but otherwise If you do exactly like I’m saying you will not get damage or re-brick your phone and some part of credit are gone to XDA members , GSMHOSTING Forum and 4PDA ( Russian’s forum) so I’m just assembling all threats that helped me to unbrick my phone and to make a full TUTO 
This Tuto has two parts
PART I ( UNBRICKING THE PHONE )
REQUIERMENTS
1) Firstly you must have a PC and a bricked phone
2) You can be S-ON or OFF ( that’s not matter )
3) You must use TWRP recovery (TWRP 2.7.0.5 here )
4) You must have a Nandroid backup ( if not you can also download one , link here)
5) And finaly you must have ADB and FAstboot tools ready on your computer ( link here )
6) And also a little knowledge about Android’s , ADB and Fastboot’s world
Lets begin !
1) Power up your phone into bootloader mode and then into fastboot mode
2) Flash the TWRP recovery and get into the recovery
3) Plug your phone on pc and still on the recovery
4) If you have your own nandroid backup just push it through ADB at /data/media/0/TWRP/BACKUPS/ and restore your phone.
5) if don’t have a nandroid backup please download it from the given link
and unzip it somewhere in your pc . Create 3 new folders and rename it as
1- folder 1: SH39HWA00635
2- folder 2 also : SH39HWA00635
3- folder 3: 2015-02-04--09-34-05
Now copy all the files that you unzipped before and paste them to the last folder
i.e.: folder N° 2015-02-04--09-34-05 must contain 7 files. like in the image
And after that copy folder (3) into folder (2) then Folder (2) into folder (1) like in the image
6) prompt command windows by holding “shift” and “right mouse click” somewhere in the ADB folder.
7) Now use this command
- adb push SH39HWA00635 /data/media/0/TWRP/BACKUPS/
wait few minutes while files are being copy
8) after the copy done unplug your phone and in the TWRP recovery , restore your phone
9) Now just do a wipe and reboot your phone
YOU JUST HAVE UNBRICKED YOUR PHONE
PART II ( s-off and superCID )
it's not ready now , i have not assembled all files yet !
sorry for my bad english ^^ but don't hasitate to ask quation please
It worked

First of all I wanted to say thanks for the tutorial it worked, however I did have to change the name of the first and second folders as depending on the region you are in the phone will have a serial number so just posting this to help other people who might be in the same situation. If twrp does not register that the backup is there it may be because the names of folder 1 and 2 doesn't match your devices serial number but thankfully theres an easy way to find out what your serial number is, simply boot into recovery mode and create a backup (even if you have no OS or anything on your device) then navigate to /data/media/0/TWRP/BACKUPS/ whilst in recovery mode and you will see a folder with an ID similar to SH39HWA00635 but not quite the same (in my case it was SH3BDWA01229) now go back on your computer and simply rename folders 1 and 2 with your serial number and push it to your device the same way you did before and twrp should now recognise it

Need help finding stock sprint recovery from nougat

Here's my issue. Some time back I installed TWRP in order to install the Pixel Launcher as a system app. When Nougat came out I tried to install the ota. No go. So I installed a stock recovery and relocked the bootloader. Still no luck. I've tried every way possible to install Nougat: ruu.exe, from sd card, flash through adb. Nothing.
I think my stock recovery is problematic. When I try and get into it through the bootloader I get the dreaded red triangle with exclamation mark. So I've tried two ways of extracting the recovery.img from the Nougat update. I've used process monitor and the trick of looking in %temp% after starting the ruu.exe. I get the correct size zip, but when I unzip, whether through 7zip or winzip, I just get a series of 22 smaller zips and have no idea where in all those the recovery image is hiding.
Anyone have any ideas what I'm doing wrong or where I can download the nougat recovery image for sprint?

The recovery isn't related to anything in the RUU process, it doesn't matter what version you have. If you want to upgrade from marshmallow to Nougat using a RUU you'll first need to update the firmware so your phone can read HTC's new digital signature, without doing that you'll always get signature errors when flashing the ruu. You can find the sprint RUU and firmware in my RUU collection thread (general section).
FYI, ruu are encrypted. You can't simply unzip these files. You need to decrypt using the correct decryption key.
Thank you. It's been a while since I've dived down into a phone. Is there a step by step on how to update the firmware?
So, tried to update the firmware. Here's the result (after doing the "fastboot oem rebootRUU" step):

Sorry I thought your phone was S-OFF, this firmware package is decrypted so it can't be flashed on a S-ON phone. If you can find the 2.18.651.2 ota zip file, you can extract the signed firmware from it. (signed version can be flashed with S-ON). You should be able to get the ota file from your phone by selecting "download and install later". Once downloaded you can transfer the ota from your phone to your computer and extract the firmware.zip file from it using winrar / 7zip.
There's another thing I don't understand about this.
The FAQ directions in https://forum.xda-developers.com/one-a9/general/wip-ruu-htc-one-a9-t3240344 say to " rename the RUU zip file '2PQ9IMG.zip'". But there is no RUU zip file. There is RUU.EXE and the firmware zip file.

These instructions are for flashing ruu in zip format. how to flash.exe ruu explained just below.
.zip ruu can be extracted from the .exe version if needed (on some pc, a .exe ruu can be problematic, e.g. you double click the file to launch the process and nothing happen...)

Btw if you can share your firmware.zip extracted from the OTA it would be really nice for other Sprint users in the same situation. I wasn't able to find the Sprint ota zip file anywhere yet.

For the M9 it was in data/data/com.htc.updater/files I guess it should be similar for the A9. Maybe someone else could confirm this...
Well, I'm dead in the water. I've tried every way possible to dl the ota, but when I go to /android/data/com/htc.updater/files there is nothing there. A 2.18.651.2 ota zip file is nowhere to be found. If anyone has that for spring I would love to get my hands on it.

Okay here is a link to download the rom becuase , i just finish uploading it and its around 4gbs or so.
https://anonfile.com/E1P1E7mdbb/TWRP_zip
Steps to recover
1) First thing you should do is extract the rom, DO NOT FLASH THE ZIP FILE !!! .
2)Delete any old twrp folders in your sd card or phone storage, dont worry it will not affect the recovery itself.
3))Put the twrp folder in your device or sd card, however you can transfer it, its better if its on an sd card(make sure the folder says twrp).
4)Turn off the device and reboot into recovery.
5)Afterwards format the entire phone (Dont use factorey reset, use format data)just make sure you dont delete anything from the sd card.
6) Next go into restore or backup whatever its called and restore the rom from your sdcard, it should automatically detect the folder and if it doesnt try choosing the folder manually.
7) reboot the phone and give it sometime and if doesn't boot up after 20 minutes delete the cache or factory reset.
8) let me know if you got any questions email: [email protected]
