I see threads on how to downgrade but none explaining how to upgrade to latest build. Most threads are years old 13.1.2-ZNH2KAS3P0 being the latest i could find
My phone came with V.6.0.1. Cyanogen OS v. 13.1-ZNH2KAS1KN.
why not custom roms ? like lineage os , resurreciton remix etc.
The best way to upgrade is via a custom rom.
Follow this: https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2788632
13.1.2-ZNH2KAS3P0 indeed the latest official version. If you want to get further updates, only customized ROMs can help you with that.
That was what I was trying to do was install custom ROMs, both new and old failed with TWRP error 7...so i figured there was an update i needed before i could install them. I installed 13.1.2-ZNH2KAS3P0. Still no go...
I already had followed that threads instructions but all ROMs failed. TWRP error 7.
I was finally able to install a ROM. Lineage-14.1-20170814-nightly-bacon-signed https://download.lineageos.org/bacon I am still confused as to why this one worked and the others didn't though... now I am too paranoid to flash any other ROMs until I figure this out .
Any explanation or advice would be greatly appreciated I Hate not understanding how I did something lol. Thanks for all your help!
once you follow the Lineage Os guide your unlocked and good to go. I usually sideload the install using TWRp..

Has anyone around here flashed OOS 2.1.4 using the recommended method and then flashed a different rom, Im tired of using OOS but i cant seem to find a way to flash CM13 again.
Just flash cm13 in a version of twrp with working firmware flashing. The firmware is included in official cm13 builds.
install TWRP again, and download and flash cm13?
Yes, as long as it's an offical build and you have a version of twrp that supports firmware flashing, like 2.8.6.0 or 3.0.0-1, it will flash everything it needs. If you flash something like sultans bulids flash offical cyanogenmod first then flash the modded build.
Hello!
First of all I'm sorry I'm late to the party ?.
I bought my OPO yesterday and I'm a newbie with all the flashing and so on. It happens to run Oxygen OS 2.1.4 as well and I was wondering if anyone could give me (a link to?) a tutorial to flash a new recovery and everything? I'd really appreciate it.
Thanks in advance

After this, you should be considering this one as OOs 2.1.4 is pretty outdated: https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-one/general/guide-return-opo-to-100-stock-t2826541#login
lineageos has a good tutorial on flashing
Hi,
I unlocked My bootloader successfully and installed twrp. Everythings fine so far.
Now I saw a thread mentioning a rollback to stock 6.0.0 is neccessary before installing cm13 because of the baseband. Do I still have to do that?
I also read about supersu. Do I have to install it before cm? In a rooted device? I thought supersu is for rooting the device?
And finally I thought cm13 is stable for My A9 but there are only nightly builds. Recommended for daily use?
Sry for all those noob questions, but I already read around for hours, without coming to a solution. Although flashing cm to My S5 Mini was alot easier.
I appreciate any help with that stuff.
?
Btw. I saw the supersu Thread and I found instructions on how to root the device.
The Instruction says I have to install supersu to root the device. In the supersu thread they say my device has to be rooted to install supersu.
Confusion is complete
On all devices I've had, never had to root (SuperSU) to install CyanogenMod. Just unlock bootloader and install twrp.
The SuperSU thread is wrong, I read the same thing when I had a nexus 5. I think it means just bootloader needs to be unlocked.
Only time I used SuperSU was if I was on stock rom. CM13 has root built in. Enable it in developer options.
As far as having to downgrade to 6.0, no idea if it's still needed. It's one of the reasons I'm still on stock. I don't like methods needed to downgrade.
thx
Thanks for your reply.
I installed CM13 nightly successfully on my A9.
No Rollback neccessary.

Really? Your phone had latest stock update and you installed cm13, and have no issues with it? No boot loops?
I've been using cm for some days. Some apps a crashing once a while, voice recording in whatsapp doesnt work without crashing the APP. AS far as I use My phone it is fine.
I booted the phone two times since I installed cm and no bootloops.
Bought it in germany.
Edit: Don't know it was the latest stock. I left the Version that was already installed on the phone. AS far as I remember it was 6.0.1
I was using cm 12.1 and wanted to update it to newer version, but after flashing it stuck in bootloop.
Now i can only flash cm 12.1 and don't know why ?
I've tried many types of different rom's but all end up in bootloop, only version 12.1 works.#
Thanks for help.
Fastboot doesn't work for me, when im trying start it, screen flashes and goes back to bootloader.
I dont care about any files so i've tried wiping everything mounting unmounting, factory resets etc. but still it boots only cm 12.1
Will someone be able to help me please ?
It's really important.

well you can only flash lollipop roms until you update your bootloader as far as I know. I haven't messed with any custom rom though, but I at least read the threads.

When I search for " bootloader update nvidia shield " there is no such thing on the internet.
I read a lot of threads and still haven't found a solution to my problem.
Still thanks for the reply.
So basically i can only boot CyanogenMod 12.1 on mine device. No other ROM boots.
You can find the Marshmallow bootloader (4.2.0) under Firmware Update of the OP of the CM13 thread. First, make sure you're using the latest official TWRP 3.0.2-2 before flashing the bootloader.
*PROBLEM RESOLVED*
Firstly i had to unlock bootloader through fastboot - I haven't checked it at first.
After that I flashed updated firmware from upper post.
Had a lot of problems making fastboot working on my pc, but after few hours spent on searching I finally got it running.
Then I flashed CM13 and it worked !
Thanks for help !

If you want to switch to a completely different ROM, you will have to do the wipes in recovery then flash the new ROM. If you want to flash an update of the same ROM you have then you don't need the wipes, you can just flash the update without wiping, this is called "dirty flashing". Dirty flash usually only works when flashing an update of the same ROM that you have.

Thanks in advance

What do you mean the latest CM14.1 update?
NitrogenOS and CM 14.1 ARE BOTH custom ROMs, they are NOT firmwares. Some devices were manufactured and sold with CyanogenMod as the stock firmware but CM is still predominately a custom android operating system.
And, as I said, if the update is an update to the exact same ROM as what is already installed, then all you have to do is flash it without doing any kind of wipes(this can even be done when updating stock via OTA, it's actually recommended to not do the wipes when updating stock via OTA). For example, if you have CM13 and want to update to CM14, or if you have CM14 and want to update to CM14.1 or if you have CM14.1 but want to flash a newer CM14.1 update, understand yet?
BUT!!!!
If you have some other ROM(something other than a version CM) currently installed but want to update to CM instead of what you have then you would have to factory reset, wipe cache and dalvik cache before flashing.
Let's make this simple since you can't seem to make sense of what I'm telling you. Tell me what you currently have installed and what you want to update to.

Hello,
I am currently using Nitrogen OS for Redmi note 3. I have flashed the firmware and installed the OS according to the procedures. I run nougat(7.1.2) on my Mob

You have nitrogen OS installed on your android and if you want to install update of nitrogen OS then no need of wiping.
If you want to change to different rom ( nitrogenOS to CM) then you need to first wiping/factory resetting or clearing dalvik and cache.
So, you are changing your rom then wipe/factory reset first and then flash CM. That what @Droidriven trying to say you.
Again you are confused. ROMs like Nitrogen runs on CM firmware ( or you can call it architecture). It's not the OS again, It regarding firmware. please someone help me on this I dont want my phone to get bootlooped or any other sort of issue. FYI : I don't want CM ROM/OS. I want Nitrogen itself but want to upgrade to the latest firmware. Please check the link i had provide before replying

This is making sense now. You see, you are the one confused. You aren't asking the right question because you don't understand the difference.
You aren't looking for the "CM firmware", this does not even exist. This implies that the firmware was created by CM. It wasn't made by CM, it does not contain CM in it so it can't be called "CM FIRMWARE", it's a STOCK FIRMWARE that is COMPATIBLE with USING CM and other custom ROMs.
What you are looking for is the "stock firmware" that needs to be on your device BEFORE using CM13/14/14.1/AOSP Nougat ROMs.
The thread that you linked basically explains that if you want to use any kind of custom 7.0/7.1/7.1.1 Nougat ROMS then you need to flash this updated STOCK FIRMWARE in order for the device to be able to use those custom ROMs. It is not "CM FIRMWARE"
You're looking for the STOCK FIRMWARE that is compatible with CM and other nougat ROMs.
The thread that you linked explains what you need to know and how to do it, it says that you flash the updated firmware via TWRP and factory reset, wipe cache and dalvik when you flash it.
If you are looking for a newer update than the one in that thread then you'll have to find it in a TWRP flashable .zip. If there is not a TWRP flashable zip to apply the new update then the only way to flash the new update is to flash it via PC then root the device again, install TWRP again and then flash your NitrogenOS ROM again.

I just explained what you needed to do, did you read it? It is simple, are you even reading the thread that you linked? What you are asking is irrelevant, just do what it says to do in the steps below.
1) Boot to TWRP
2) Flash the updated firmware via TWRP
3) Factory reset, wipe cache and dalvik
4) Flash NitrogenOS
5)reboot, enjoy.

I have been trying unsucessfully tryiing to install Havoc OS on my phone for 2 days now and I believe the common theme seems to be TWRP.
I have tried to install different versions of Havoc, and then other Roms too and all fail in the same place.
There is no error code.
I have also tried to install different versions of TWRP going from 3.4.0.0 to 3.3.1.79 to 3.3.1.70 and none of these work
The steps are not complex and I have followed them to the letter
the bootloader is unlocked and magisk got installed although not needed for this part.
I also tried to install the rom via USB OTG and didnt work
please assist I am having so many issues with stock OS that i would like to try something else
TIA Bart
This can be closed I found it a much older version on the TWRP site itself and that actually allowed me to to flash the ROM
