Phone won't tether - Samsung Galaxy Young S6310

My Samsung gt-s6310 won't tether to my pc. The phone tells me "No usb device connected". I have checked the pc usb port, tried different leads & updated Android software. Despite the fact that the phone can't find the usb device it still charges the battery through the pc. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

[Q] Nexus 5 not connecting to computer (usb), does not show in device manager

Hi,
I would like to see if I can get anyones assistance with solving my problem. I have lost the ability to connect my Nexus 5 to my computer via USB. I had previously been able to connect the phone without any problems.
Connecting my phone to PC charges the phone but no drivers are loaded, nothing changes in device manager and I cannot see a change in windows explorer to view the memory card.
So far I have tried the following:
searches on various sites
rebooting phone, starting in safe mode, wiping all data, performing a hard reset
connecting other phones to usb cable to check that it is not a charge only cable, also trying several other USB cables
connecting phone to other computers
connecting other phones (HTC) to load drivers (then uninstalling drivers)
displaying all hidden devices in device manager and removing all drivers that resemble something to do with mobile phones
uninstalling programs I no longer require on the PC
using "wugs nexus root toolkit" to uninstall and re-install drivers
checking & unchecking MTP, PTP, developer options, USB debugging in various combinations to elicit a response from the computer.
I have also tried to visually check the connections of the USB port on the phone wondering is there is a break but I cannot see very well.
does anyone have any further suggestions to get this phone connected to a PC?
my only last thought is to attempt to open the phone and check the resistance of the plug connections.
Have you tried enabling and disabling usb debugging while plugged in?

I just did it, no change in Device manager or explorer

Are you sure you're using a data usb cable and the usb port is good?
Same Issue
same thing happened to me today when i connected the device to PC.
Mine says unknown device on PC under other devices. so i hope my USB port is ok.but im not using the original SUB cable. i wonder that's is the issue. but it didn't bother me until today. my original cable is at my friend's house.
Tried updating drivers manually. But following error message occurs once i select the drivers folder and hit ok.
Windows was unable to install your unknown device
Please help.
so, not really a solution but while at work my phone fell on to a nice rock cracking the screen. I have replaced the phone and the new phone connects to the pc fine, drivers come up without a problem (I will put this down to a fault with the phone)
Thank you for your assistance

OPO no USB functionality

I've had my OPO for a little over 7 months now. My issue began when I had my desktop at a friend's house and plugged my phone into a USB 3.0 port to grab some videos off the phone when the phone suddenly shut off and would not turn back on. I thought it was bricked somehow but after leaving it plugged into a USB 2.0 port for some time, the charging screen came on and I was able to turn the phone on, but since then both OTG and MTP/PTP transfer doesn't work. If/when the phone is plugged into a computer, it gives an error and Device Manager shows
"Port_#0001.Hub_#0004 Unknown USB Device (Port Reset Failed)" and I'm not only able to charge the phone with one out the dozens of micro usb cables I have. I've tried several cables and a handful of different computers and OSs (Windows 7,8,8.1,10, Ubuntu 15.04, Kali Linux) all to the same result.
I'm running COS 12.1-YOG4PAS3JL, rooted, and have TWRP installed. The phone doesn't show up when in Fastboot mode or the bootloader either. Nothing changes when I disable or enable USB Debugging as well. With DriveDroid if I set the USB system to "Standard Android" the phone reboots and that seems like the closest I've been able to get to any kind of progress. I've gone through unbricking threads as well as Googled until my fingers bled but I'm yet to find anyone with a similar situation where the phone isn't bricked, the micro usb port isn't broken, I can't pick between MTP or PTP mode (USB Connection just says USB is now disconnected), and I'm not running a custom ROM. I tried replacing the micro usb on the phone so I now know that it wasn't that that's been messed up but I'm not sure where to go from here. Any suggestions or help is greatly appreciated.

[Solution] USB Device Not Recognized (Riddle Me This)

After hours of troubleshooting, uninstalling/reinstalling USB drivers and Samsung Mobile USB Drivers, modifying Windows' registry, etc. I've come to the conclusion that the problem might be the USB cable that came with my Galaxy S6. But there's a catch...
When I plug my S6 into my Win7 desktop (back USB port, regardless of 2.0 or 3.0) using the cable that came with it, a fresh device installation results in the phone registering properly, then reverting to "Unknown Device" just seconds later. If I plug it in again any time after that, it will say "USB Device Not Recognized" and register as an "Unknown Device" in Device Manager - all it will do is charge.
BUT, plugging my S6 into the same USB port in my desktop using both a cable that came with the S3 and another that came with the S7, they both result in a properly registered device in Device Manager which allows both data transfer and charging.
Riddle me this: The catch is, when I plug my S6 into my Win8.1 laptop using the original cable, it registers properly and allows data transfer and charging.
Is there an explanation for this? The fact that the original cable doesn't work with my desktop but works with my laptop sounds like a driver issue - though using different cables in the same desktop port working properly makes it sound like a cable issue...

If the phone doesn't ask for permission to transfer files when plugged in...

Hi,
Thank you for the forum (first post).
Trying to get the S6 recognised by pc:
When the phone is connected to the laptops usb port via micro usb and cable (usb debugging on, samsung usb drivers downloaded, mtp:usb on) the computer makes the 'plugged in' audio sound but there is no 'permission to transfer files via usb' type message.
It does charge.
Does this maybe mean the charging port is broken/damaged, or the usb is broken?
Only other detail is that I once got the computer to say in a pop up that it was labelled as a 'samsung s6' rather than unknown device, which it normally does. This any symptom maybe its just a software issue?
Trying to get my computer to connect to the phone and have tried most if not all software solutions so far (including factory reset) and now looking if its hardware. Any tips to get it connected welcome.
Thank you,
David

Same happens here, it was fine after flashed Rom now it wont recognize it for some reason

Computer Doesn't Recognize N20U Connected Via USB A

I can't figure this out. For some reason my Windows 10 computer doesn't recognize my Note 20 Ultra when it's connected to a USB 3.1 type A port. It's not my cables, I used them with my S10+ and they worked fine. The only way my computer will recognize my phone is if I use a type C to type C cable in the USB 3.2 type c port. Otherwise it shows up in device manager as "Samsung Mobile USB Composite Device" with a conflict and tells me the USB device malfunctioned and isn't recognized. I can't for the life of me figure out why my computer won't recognize my phone in any USB A ports.
The drivers are installed, the cables aren't faulty, and uninstalling the drivers and letting them install with PnP doesn't work. Does anyone have any idea what's going on here?
