Hey guys,
Here's the situation, I have a 128GB/6GB model on Euro FW '401'. Mine is the DUAL SIM DUGL model.... I am hoping to convert to UHL.
I know there is no 'S-Off' available yet... although Sunshine team are looking into a release as beaups has it working on his device. Quote from jcase in Sunshine Thread.
Anyway, I have 'trusted reboot' option and I can change CID and MID as required.
Trying to get everyone ready for when we do have s-off lol.
I REALLY DON'T WANT A BRICK THOUGH, LOL
Anyway, I have done the 'leg work' and extracted and compared MANY RUUs to find difference in the files (main one to look at being bootloader (abl))
Any thoughts?
@Kisakuku you seem to be on to it with this stuff + only S-Off model I know of round here
Please find Google Sheet where I have compared MD5s of the extracted files (from RUUs) and colour coded
Main Idea would be to get to UHL 401 and from there I could get to US 617.
To me it looks pretty safe, especially as all the ABLs (new bootloader) are the same across all variants, incl JAPAN and CHINA.
I.e even if device didn't boot then we could still get to bootloader to flash something else
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1y2tOFBzktLdWfw8xVcS79NHXSwKHFPTwcs4dHms3gT8/edit?usp=sharing
Thanks in advance to all.
On a side note: did HTC turn off OTA for Unlocked bootloader (/with s-on) as ive had M7->10 and have always been able to get OTAs. i.e download

Thanks for the input thus far.....
P.S Still hanging out for the 1.27.401.x OTA
any thoughts anyone?
Hi everyone,
I have a DualSIM U11 with CID HTC_A07 and there is no updates in sight, while the HTC_001 is on Oreo already. Since we now have the S-OFF from Sunshine, would the OP's idea work? Can I change the MID and CID so that I have the HTC_001 European UHL version, to get all the updates first? (UHL because I don't use the second SIM slot and the little number 1 by the signal icon is kinda triggering my OCD. )
The european version's Oreo update isn't available yet and was delayed due to some "complexities".
If you want Oreo now, you should choose TW or US CIDs…*or install a custom ROM.

Nope. Not true. Cid HTC_001 (401) is not on Oreo. BS_001 (617) IS on oreo. Eu wwe is still waiting.
Yes changing the cid works but you might want to wait as BS_001 is htc's Guinea pig. HTC_001 won't be getting oreo before February, or at least I highly doubt it.
The problem solved itself - HTC released the update for EMEA. So thanks for the input.
I couldn't install a custom ROM as I didn't have the firmware for Oreo. I'm not S-OFFed.

Hi, did you manage to get the "cross-flash" done? (Dugl to uhl)
I am thinking about to do the other direction at the moment!
I have U11 eur ocean uhl and the question is if there is the posibility to cross-flash to eur ocean dugl?
Is the second sim slot only deactivated by software, or isn´t it present on the Hardware?
At the moment I use a stock system image from a dugl on my uhl with the dual sim manager, which only finds Sim 1 even with 2 Simcards in my U11, but I cannot flash a firmware for dugl because I am not S-OFF....so, the second sim slot is not working at this moment, hopefully that it is only software related!?
Do you have some information about this?
Thanks and Greets

Did you super cid? I believe doing so would keep carrier updates from being sent to your device.

Sorry... I think you misunderstood me. I was asking if you were already super cid'ed. Because if you were, that would explain why you were not receiving system updates from your carrier.
Setting your CID to super CID will not help you in this matter.
Ok, now undersdand.
I'm not sure did i replace cid or not.
How to check my current cid?
And finally how to rollback original cid. I'm in o2 uk

Here is how I know to check the CID on your device (and a lot of other details):
Code:
adb shell cat /proc/cmdline
That should result in a lot of text on your terminal. You want to find the value that follows: "androidboot.cid="
If you are super CID, it will be a bunch of ones (like 1111111) and nothing else.
I'll get back to you on the thread for a list of valid CIDs.
Thanks a lot.

Here is the thread that provides the most help for what you're trying to accomplish (at least from what I assume).
In it there is a mention of another thread where CIDs are being collected.
hth...
i can confirm that i had cid 1111111 in my phone.
i changed it first time for valid o2 cid but still not got any updates, then replaced for htc cid but still any updates got.
btw i'm sure, htc has released 2.3.4 for my device, and i'm stuck by 2.3.3

I think this is the best there is for finding stock ROMs.
There is a FileFactory link in the 1st post (or right here) for a grip of RUU files. Those will contain the original distributions from the various carriers.
I wish I was able to point you to the correct one, but I really have no idea.
Happy New Year!
Is there another place where

Tried over and over again on Filefactory but it just didn't start downloading.

I would suggest following the instructions here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2723159 to update your firmware then flashing a 4.4.3 ROM or if you want the full, stock, update, follow these instructions here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/ver...ent/ruu-m8vzw-4-4-3-s-off-onlynewest-t2873144
you should be S-off first, of course

The update is being sent over the verizon phone networks wireless system.
Since you are not in a country that has verizon wireless you do not have access to the update direct from the phone issuer and will have to use alternative means.
You can try "weaksuace / Firewater combo" but this method seems to only work with the first batch of M8 sold by verizon.
You can try "Sunshine" which is a paid app that will unlock and S-off your phone, success rate to my knowledge is 100%
After successfully completing one of the above you will need to comeback and read the M8 Dev section thread for installing the new firmware, then read the section for installing Stock Rooted 4.4.3 rom or whatever 4.4.3 based rom you like.
Just remember all 4.4.3 based roms require the updated firmware first.
Weaksauce / Firewater combo and Sunshine alternatives were developed by the same dev, you find his directions, discussions and links to his tools and app here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2699091

HTC doesn't deserve our support anymore...
At least in Europe.
I got that update here in the states but I'm wondering when will give us 9.0 pie
This is the reason why I convert my European model to TW device...

Short story before I get to my question.
I have a U11+ bought direct off HTC in Hong Kong.
I have had no updates since Dec 2017.
Wrote to HTC in Europe about the lack of updates and got this amazing reply:
------------------
Thank you for contacting HTC.
In regards to your enquiry about updates, kindly note that after running the serial number provided, your device ship country is Hong Kong.
Which means, it is not from EU region, and devices from the Asian region most of them cannot be updated and have no option to update.
------------------
Soo I checked through the XDA forums seems the TW version of the phone is the only one that gets regular updates.
Then I unlocked bootloader and downloaded HTC_U11+_TW_1.24.709.93_Images_OTA from nene bear.
I didn't install TWRP as I was going to return to stock and just be happy with the updates hopefully coming from the TW version.
all went smooth thanks to all the excellent posts and help on the forum.
378 fastboot flash -S 1G system system.img
379 fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
380 fastboot flash boot boot.img
oh and I relocked my bootloader
Yesterday I got a message about new update (I'm currently on Vodafone in Ireland)
I downloaded but it wouldn't install see the 2 screenshots.
ahh can't post the screenshots because i'm a new guy
its says:
cant update cause i may be running a modified version of system software....
I wonder is that because i turned of the boot lock once?
Or is this because of my CID is still HKG ??
I'm going to fire up fasboot and try and side load the update I downloaded from nene bear as I don't have root access and i couldn't find the update on the phone
I saw an interesting thread from handsome_hell about changing cid
Would the TW version or the WWE version the best for updates.
RGDS W
I have both TW and EU version of HTC-U11+ (both rooted with Magisk 18.0) and will apply OTA on TW only when RUU will be available (as I had - probably self-caused - problems during previous update of TW version).
I am not too advanced but AFAIK the phone needs to be "s-off" to change the CID to apply other region version updates smoothly, which is not available yet for HTC-U11+ (maybe I am wrong).
I hope for the EU version updates a "shortcut" directly to Android 9.0 (which was announced for HTC-U11+), otherwise the neglect of EU updates is really weired.
Today I got an answer from HTC support why European version U11+ did not get security updates ...
Sorry for for the answer but we can't say why 11+ is not getting security updates.
That's all [emoji1787]
Okay. I switched to a Pixel 3, great device and just the right size compared to the U11+ for me.
Bye HTC. Great devices wasted by a poor support...

Ah Thanks for the reply
I did have further conversations with HTC customer service regarding updates they said this:
------------------------------------
note that your phone is due to receive Android Pie very soon and this will be communicated via system notification message on your phone once the update is available for your phone, we are sorry for any inconvenience.
------------------------------------
It still doesn't explain the lack of regular security updates on the U11+ but my friends U11 has had 2 or 3 updates bought the same time as my U11+
I tried to get into recovery last night but got a red triangle Ill try it again later, got into the bootloader and download mode fine.
Think Ill end up going down the TWRP and Magisk route and change the CID just a bit more reading up to do.
Rgds
u11 + model is selling in taiwan because the small updates take that region. I think he's looking at the sales figures. But if it's just Taiwan for the update, it won't be able to sell anywhere except Taiwan. International brand, will be the domestic brand.

Has anyone had any luck flashing Tmobile's OP8 with the firmware from the global model? When I had my OP7Pro, I recall flashing the global firmware to improve the overall experience, as TMO is TERRIBLE when it comes to updates. Is this even feasible with 5G?
