Android O OTA - Google Pixel Questions & Answers

Does anyone know when the OTA will be released for the masses? Non dev, just OTA from 7.1.2.

If you get fed up waiting just enrol in the beta program and you will get it straight away

I was looking for more with the ambient display. I thought there was going to be more colour and information brought to it like Samsung's. I'm sure when it first started up I did see some blue touches to the information and not just icons however all I do see now is icons unless I bypass it and go to the lockscreen.
Also I thought there are options to do more with the notification dots but seems not. Looks like I'm going back to nova again.

Is that for 7.1.2 to 8.0 or 8.0 beta to 8.0 official?
NVM, that's from anything to 8.0 being that it's not an OTA image. Will it successfully boot if upgrading from 7.1.2 if you choose to not wipe userdata? I know the beta required wiping.

This is 8.0 beta factory image. Should be flashed via fastboot commands or run the flash-all.bat script "follow instructions" . Also, edit and remove "-w" if do not want to wipe the internal storage.

Maybe I'm missing something, but isn't the final out? Why would I want a beta version?

If you were already rooted you could flash an oe rom plus firmware only. BUT, if you were on that OTA update you couldn't downgrade to root. At least that's the way I think it works. I'm rooted and on og5. I did read though that with either the 5.1 update or marshmallow update that it requires you to update the bootloader, which means og5 is high as we can go and stay rooted. Unless something has changed.

Agreed, except that you can maintain the OD5 bootloader throughout, and still upgrade ROM further. I think? You keep the OD5 bootloader and only upgrade the ROM?
So, currently we stuck in Super Lollipop 5.0 (og5 will be last one, if next one is 5.1) by verizon's locked bootloader..
Anyone can go further, it really good for all of us.
I will be staying with og5 with bod5 bootloader unless someone comes up with a exploit again to root anything after bod5

Out of curiosity, when you food that what version were you on?
I had downgraded to ncg, plugged my phone into the computer and ran kies. It said I had an update (of course), to android 5.1. I got pretty excited until I read the details. It said it was og5. So kies says og5 is 5.1. Maybe Verizon update manager says same thing.

I installed earlier and was able to get recovery and root, but not to long ago I was debloating and I guess deleted some knox files and got stuck on a boot loop :/, now I have to flash all the way back to PI3 and update one by one to QB1, which i'm hoping works or else i'm gonna be out of a phone until a flashable stock rom releases.
I updated and have root and recovery.
Does anyone have the odin stock firmware yet? I also tried to download via Sam Firm app and get the same error. I also talked to Sprint and they basically wont give me the ota as of now.
Why it doesn't show at websites such as live.samsung-updates.com, then?

The Nougat isn't available in any online service that I could find. It's OTA, only. I had to unroot my G925P in order to get the OTA update.

Nougat and Edge app issues
A friend is not liking Nougat did to her Edge. Seems like all the edge apps are different or non-functioning. I tried to help, thinking it was just a setting she missed, but all I could find were Samsung edge apps on the Samsung store. Specifically she liked the slide-able, colored bar notifications for each individual favorite contact. Now all she has is all contacts. Any idea what I am missing? Thanks!

This will work but you will need a factory reset afterwards cause lot of things won't work after clearing this cache especially push notifications.
The best way to update is to update google playservices to version 12 stable and check ota.

But why my phone doesn't update automatically the Google play services ? I still have the version 11.9. I guess that's why I don't don't have OTA update. There's anyway to make the Google play services update by itself ??

There you go
Note that you don't need twrp or anything to install this on top of the regular global rom -- just put the zip on the phone and select it with system update.
I appear to be having a problem with this update. Its just hanging at the Mix Screen (powered by Android). I patched from inside the updater app.
Edit: I had to wipe and start again with new update. it wouldnt flash back to 9.5.18. Only thing that worked was a fresh install of 9.5.19.
It need be flash from global rom , if you flash from other version?

Definitely disable any overlays and such first. You don't have to unroot though. Just do a flash-all.bat (remove the -w) in fastboot too update, then boot system and let it finish setup. Then you have to root again.

Not running TWRP, had root, did the flash-all.bat (with the -w removed), but I cannot get the boot.img to patch in Magisk Manager, keeps crashing. I had the same issue and had to use one that someone else uploaded. Anyone know what is causing this, or someone have a pached boot.img from November they could upload?
I just got it on my Pixel XL by booting into Safe Mode and checking for updates:
