Hi guys,
as you know some of the Galaxy S4's batteries are defective (batteries are swelling), especially in Europe. Samsung acknowledged the problem and offers free replacement.
Here's something from Samsung (not official yet though AFAIK) :
You can check the Serial Number of your battery. If the S/N starts with BD1D and the date is in the range of 401 - 529 (1st april - 29th may), it's probably a defective battery.
Any battery with S/N between BD1D401XX and BD1D529XX needs replacement.
Hope this will help some of you.

So you had to pay half the price of a battery anyways. What a rip-off! Free means FREE aka paying NOTHING!
I agree! Especially since Samsung acknowledged the problem. It seems like the battery should come directly from them, but either way, you shouldn't pay a single cent for that replacement.
my battery is BD1D415 and it is defective and swelling and my phone was bought from Saudi Arabia and i live in EGYPT so my warranty doesn't cover it in EGYPT
My serial number was BD, it became defective.
I got 2 free batterys from Samsung.

You might be OK, its not one of the bad batch. Where is it made in ?
I have SN: AA1D606yS/2-B Made in Koreea, assembled in Vietnam. Is there any problems with this one? i got only 2-3 hours screen on on every ROM i tried, with everything off except 3G.
Am I safe?
Mine says YS1D419S/2-B, Cell made in Japan, Assembled in China. I bought it here in KSA way back May this year when it became available, and stocks were low (good thing I got contacts from a known local retailer ).
So does it mean I'm safe for the time being?

Thanks, OP
Thank you, my battery model is not deficient
my battery starts with bd1d, and Im living in the Philippines, will my battery be replaced?
Samsung Service (Greece) replaced my battery today.
Maybe, this topic should become sticky.
@axlinside, I tried to find more information, like an official announcement from Samsung, but failed. Any links?
Edit: Luckily for me, none of my four batteries fits the description.

Hi everyone
Does anyone have a clue what is happening with S5 accessories? Everywhere I look in Europe at reputed retailers (Amazon DE / UK) all official S5 accessories (wireless cover, wireless kit, S-View Wireless cover, Extended Battery) are out of stock with no restocking date.
It looks like Samsung is phasing out all accessories for S5. This is quite weird, since I see official accessories being available for S3 / S4 even today.
Yep. Same deal in Australia. Plenty of stuff for the S4 nothing for the S5
Just got myself a S5 recently, but without wireless charging.
This is pretty annoying that they discontinued the original accessories after only 1 generation...

You need to check ebay, as there are loads of official on there inc austrailia
Yeah I had hard time finding a original battery without buying from Internet it really sucks how samsung wants us to be like apple users.
i thing s5 has been abandoned because it was not successful. s4 is still good and s6 is more better. however in my home vietnam its accessories are still available but of course not many left. if you have friends in vn contact them for a shipping
I live a frugal life. As much as I like the S7, S6 is a great phone for me and will give me all that I need. I was thinking about buying a refurbished one off of ebay since they are so cheap. What are the chances that screen or other parts may have been replaced with non Samsung genuine parts?

It depends on the seller.

Look if the seller has a good reputation ?

I recently purchased a "seller refurbished" S6 AT&T variant on eBay and, while it looked okay and powered on okay, I ended up returning it for an original but used international variant. I'd echo the suggestion of checking their reputation as well. If authentic hardware and cost are your concerns, I would consider getting a gently used, non-refurb model that offers a return policy.... just in case!

I dont know about China but I have a TQTHL branded one that really holds up better than the stock battery. My stock one lasted a little over a year before it started to not even boot at full.
Edit: I have the same Signapore variant phone I bought over amazon (international edition but Signapore variant).
