I have added my country CSC to your G955 ADD CSC file and my csc is picked up by phone with my sim with VoLTE working in India (Jio carrier) (This network is solely 4g network with only VoLTE calls.. no fallback to 3g 2g. So Volte is a big deal for us)
If i were to unroot keeping CSC i flashed intact and have stock rom with original boot with Spay working... is that a possibility?
Am losing CSC if i flash stock files (AP/BL/CP) on odin even though am not flashing CSC.

Can't get flashfire to acquire root, busybox, & TiB both work. fine

@jrkruse, Hello OP thanks for all your hard work. I am on Verizon, rooted and flashed your rom and followed your directions and all is well except in settings, about phone I have a red #1 in status that tells me my os has been modified and to call customer service for help. Any ideas or thouhts?

How do I get rid of these greyed out apps?
Edit: they went away upon reboot, strange.

Well went with this method but VOLTE is not working on sprint. And i dont see advanced calling in settings.... gonna try dl the newest update and flash it in flash fir

@jkruse any plans to make a more modified Rom? Been using your work forever and you never disappoint. Thanks for everything.

SystemUI Crash
@jrkruse, I have setup your new QG2 rom twice now and once it is done setting up I reboot the phone and systemui crashes and is not recoverable. Going into safe mode does nothing and wiping cache does nothing. I didn't have any subs installed either time. Sorry I have not had a chance to get a log, just wanted to let you know. Not sure what is causing it.

Verizon, all is okay untill I reboot. I made a change to the csc zip file to get more volume steps and also change the boot animation. But don't have any issues at first boot and I let it sit for a few minutes and then reboot, go through setup process and install all my apps and then reboot and get the systemui FC. I am running the QCG4 system image now and have no issues with systemui fc.

I was able to get VOLTE and enhanced messaging on Sprint
working by flashing the system.img from the latest July update with the August security update and sprints New VOLTE and enhanced messaging. After that I flashed the CP [modem file] because phone would reboot after making a phone call.
Now I'm fully rooted with latest security and running flawless. Minus 80% battery.
Wish I could get your Rom control @jrkruse but I tried with your package and volte did not work with sprint even though it displayed In status bar...
But now I got a bunch of icons in status bar...... annoying...

On my s7 edge root thread there is a volts icon fix zip. It will work on s8 and get rid of those. RomControl only gives you access to stuff Verizon needs for volte it does not do anything else

With us having root now, do you know if we can create custom ROMs that are deodexed and flashed with flash fire or are we limited to stock system images still?

You stud. I was thinking of getting a deodexed base and then upload to my git and make it so mods can be easily added and tracked. Then anyone could sync and pick their mods and zip it up and flash.

Common ICS leak bug: shutdown/Reboot "stick"
Fixes: try whatever you want
1. Pull battery after first boot
2. Superwipe before installing my superlite
3. After install take a nandriod backup and reload that backup.
3. Last Resort fix. Backup your Internal SDCARD data which is the /emmc to your computer via usb cable, boot to CWR, format /emmc, superwipe and reflash superlite. Again this is a last resort, and will delete all of your data. MAKE SURE YOU HAVE AN EXTERNAL SDCARD TO FLASH FROM.

Fix:
Recreate the MMS shortcut!
No LTE at first boot
Fix:
Pull battery after first boot (or move to a LTE service area j/k)

Fix:
Call your voicemail or call your cell# from a land line, time is updated over the air from your network provider

**Common if you load backups. #1 or #2 should fix it quick
Fixes:
1. Reboot to CWR >> Fix Permissions
2. Settings >> APPS>> Clear App data >> Uninstall app, Reinstall APP from market
3. Reinstall Superlite, dont load your apps data, just load the apps.
4. Dont load backups, just reinstall all your apps by hand from market.

No I didnt do anything for it. Its random. Its some sort of first boot up cache/db.
If you have this trouble pulling the battery after first boot fixes it.
Does this come with romracers kernel already in there or do I need to flash it separate? I ask because I see a separate link for it

Repeat the installation instructions 3 * it should work
Installed over 'Working Rogers ICS' ROM, and it worked fine, home button still doesn't work, but screen lock and receiving calls work, so that's two steps forward. I then decided to go for broke and installed 15 toggle, ICS camera, romracer kernel, and agps fix. Something in there broke it, since I lost the background and notification area, I imagine it's the 15 toggle, so I am reflashing the ROM right now. My fault, I know, too ambitious.
Update: reflashed, home button works! Now I just need 15 toggle ICS theme to work, and I'll be running a perfect ROM for me.
everything is awesome except my market keeps FC-ing. any advice, should i just install another ics market over it?
I just keep getting boot loops. Installed it 3 times as per the instructions.
Update: Ok its booting now. i had to do a Dark super wipe. Then i followed the instructions and now its loading. Will report back if i see any other errors.

*Disclaimer*
For more information please refer to GPe RUU and ROM thread. ROM is compatible with all M8 variants except Dual SIMThis is not a general discussion thread, please keep off topic chatter to a minimum.
This is a stock ROM with very little modifications.
Modifications made to this ROM are for Verizon network connectivity. framework-res.apk for apns.xml and eri.xml, build.prop
Added CDMA device support to stock boot.img
If there are issues with the ROM that don't pertain to those changes, those comments and bug reports should be directed at Google and HTC not here.
Special notes:
[*]Built with the AROMA Installer. Options include... Stock, Traditional Root and System-less Root.
[*] Its recommended to be on the latest Verizon firmware 6.21.605.3
[*] If you were using any partition as f2fs, you must switch back to ext4 first.
[*] When prompted to insert SIM during setup, just hit skip and continue on with the setup.
[*] Unknown phone number may show in settings under Sim Status. You can still make and receive calls, your number automatically populates after first reboot.
[*] If you have issues with 3g/LTE data hand off, do a full RUU and do a factory reset with the stock recovery. Alternatively just flash the stock recovery and do a factory reset. Theory is the stock recovery rebuilds NV data. Getting a new SIM card has also been reported to work. Calling customer service and asking them to reset your connection has also been reported to help.
Install: using TWRP is recommended
1. Reboot to recovery
2. Wipe/Factory reset if coming from another ROM
3. Flash ROM
4. Reboot
5. Enjoy, First boot will take 5 to 10 minutes, on average I've noticed it takes about 7

FAQs & Issues
FAQs
Q. 3 dot menus have a lot of lag. Whats going on?
A. In order to add the low quality Mms fix and add other values to fix sms for some users, the framwork-res.apk must be modified.
Apktool breaks some animations, until apktool can be fixed the only workaround is to set your "Window animation scale" to "Off" in the developer settings. This will eliminate the lag.
Q. Do I have to be S-Off to use this ROM?
A. Yes, unfortunately Verizon devices aren't supported by HTC Dev unlock so you need to be S-Off in order to flash a custom recovery. If you didn't get your device S-Off with KitKat rooted and unlocked with Sunshine, I'm afraid your only hope now is finding a forum member who can unlock it with a Java Card. Sunshine now works with sense marshmallow. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2792487
Q. I can't get RRO layers to work, what am I doing wrong?
A. Nothing, RRO Layers was not included by HTC. So in short it doesn't work nor will it ever! Don't even ask!
Q. How do I enable the SystemUI Tuner in 6.0?
A. Pull down the notification shade, Long press the settings gear. It's hard to see but the gear will spin under your finger. Press and hold, this may take a long time and may take multiple attemps but you will get a toast saying the "SystemUI Tuner is active". The menu will appear in the settings under About phone.
Q. How do I enable multi window in 6.0
A. You need to edit the build.prop, look for ro.build.type=user change it to ro.build.type=userdebug save the file and reboot. If you haven't already you need to enable developer options. In About phone you have to tap the build number several times to enable. In developer options you'll find the multi window switch about 3/4ths the way the down the settings list.
Q. Does the duo camera Ufocus and 3D effects work on GPe?
A. Yes it does. Google camera supports the duo effect. HTC FX editor is a stock feature of GPe so Ufocus and 3D effects all work.
Q. I don't see Trusted face in Smart lock, am I missing something?
A. Trusted face was removed in 5.0.1, probably to make room in the /system. Trusted face for (M8) GPe Marshmallow. Ported from the Nexus 6
Q. I can't get Titanium Backup to work with my sd card, I keep getting an insufficient free storage error.
A. Take a look at this post. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=64064833&postcount=3714
Q. I'm having Ext. SD card permission issues with ***** app. It can't write to my external microSD card.
A. In Lollipop and Marshmallow your app needs to be granted permissions to the root of the Ext. SD card by DocumentsProvider Storage.
1. The app may need updated. Usually the app will open the DocumentsProvider so you can select your card.
2. Make sure when you selected the Ext. SD card in DocumentsProvider that you were in the root directory.
Issues
* MRA58K.H15 Backup account fix, also includes the DND priority mode fix
https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=24686680535467942
* WiFi may drop out when the screen is off. This issue involves more then just firmware. 5.0.1 and 5.1 used new DHCP protocols, 6.0's protocols are updated and work better on legacy devices but you may have less or no drop out issues with newer WiFi routers.
* Do not disturb / Priority mode is broken... HTC added some code from sense that has broken your notifications from starred contacts when DND is enabled. When DND is enabled with "Priority Only" and a starred contact sends you a text or phone call the ringer should sound and vibrate depending on what your configuration is, but what happens is when the contact is validated its looking for a column "VIP" in the contacts.db, well "VIP" doesn't exist in Google contacts only in Sense contacts... so it doesn't validate and you don't get the notification. Flashable fix.
Thanks to @kbitz for the fix.
* Android 6.0 has an MMS bug that will require you to reboot your phone every couple of days or sending and receiving MMS will become proplematic. Issue tracker on the subject.
Special thanks:
Our families for putting up with us being on the computer for so long.
Lots of features were not possible without the help of these awesome people.

So same GPE ROM in new thread? Looking forward to some tweaks! Also, my SIM issue came back so I'll be getting a new one tomorrow. Will definitely report back.

Yep same rom new thread. I'm not gonna go crazy with AROMA and mods but I figured it was the best option for an optimal user experience.
Looking forward to it!

New sim and all is well. Just wanted to report back because a few other users experienced similar issues. Hope this helps someone else!
Just wanted to share my experience so far!
I flashed this firmware from DigitalHigh's ROM: M8_FIRMWARE_VZW_001__4.17.605.9.zip
After, I wiped completely and installed your ROM + Beyond Stock Kernel.
Pulled out the SIM and started my phone. Did the initial setup over WiFi and got my phone back up to speed.
I shut down, put the SIM back in, and turned back on. Got 3G.
Only other issues I've had so far are hangouts crashing occasionally and something happened with Google Play Services (on second boot, I got a message saying that it's not compatible with my device and to contact the manufacturer.)
Nevertheless, it's been good.
This is the same as the last Rom posted by undarated, right? Just asking because I flashed that on my primary slot in multirom and I didn't pull my SIM card and everything's fine.

Yes it's the same, he didn't have anything to do with my build so... I started my own thread. I'm in the process of building an AROMA version too with a completely stock option and a custom install with a few options.
I'm glad to hear everything is working for you! :good:
Just wanted to check in and say thanks for this - I've been using it for 3 days now and it has performed flawlessly. I really appreciate the ability to install the stock kernel - I always seem to get lag with any GPE-style ROM for this phone which tries to mod the kernel, install 57 hacks and mods, etc. I also installed xposed to do some minor tweaks. I'm pretty sure this is going to be my daily driver. Hoping for a new version once the latest stagefright patch is released.
OK, put together that AROMA build. Need some testers to make sure everything is good. Pretty sure I nailed it though.

It's striped down significantly... Since there is no mods to the ROM, you can install a stock ROM with no mods or the stock ROM with add ons like sense camera, viper audio, xposed, debloat, su, init.d, busybox, stock or beyond stock kernel, Kinda what I thought the most popular things one would want in a stock ROM.
Sent from my HTC One_M8 using Tapatalk
I haven't had time to flash this ROM but will be very shortly.
I ported over the Lyapota MOD Pack to this ROMs files.
Thought I'd share.
Lyapota thread
The thread says the Aroma installer has 3 choices:
First item for those who have SkyDragon ROM or reflash MODPack to change options.
Second item for those who have Stock rooted ROM and flash MODPack first time.
Third item for those who have pure Stock ROM and flash MODPack first time.
You want the Second choice.
Third choice would be if you don't have busybox/SuperSU it will add these, only difference between 2 & 3, so if you don't want busybox,SuperSU choose Second choice as well
Ignore First choice as it has no reason to be in the installer (for us that is) but haven't had time to remove it yet.

(Flash in Recovery)
ROM is fully functional. No issues, no bugs, great performance.
Did advance wipe in TWRP, on latest firmware .9, chose full wipe in aroma, but got stuck on bootanimation. Any ideas as to why?

Flashing instructions
There are two main ways to flash files onto your phone: local and sideload. Most people are only familiar with local, but sideload is much quicker and easier if you are at a PC.
Sideload
Download the ZIP file(s) to your PC. In TWRP, select advanced and then sideload. Swipe the slider to begin, then on your PC run "adb sideload <filename>".
Local
Download and/or copy the ZIP file(s) to your phone. Note whether they are on internal storage (the default) or the sdcard. In TWRP, select install, find your file, and select it.

Can't wait for those issues to be fixed so I can use it. Surprises me how fast you're working tdm
EEEEE I LOVE YOU
thank you so damn much tdm, i was scared this phone would be developmentally dead
Just installed and it works...pretty alright!
Bugs:
-Wi-Fi range seems to have shrunk ten-fold (LTE works perfectly fine, so it seems to be a problem with whatever Wi-Fi module(?) is being used with the ROM)
-Can't hear anyone on calls (What you already addressed)
That's all I've found so far. I was able to install SuperSU v2.79, which is super dope, and I've tested it with my good friend Titanium Backup to great results. Thanks a whole bunch for all the hard work, TDM!
P.S.: If you're dumb like me, and you're pretty new to all of this stuff, follow this guide that I sourced from the Open GApps FAQ to install the ROM:
A 'Clean' install consists of the following:
Factory Reset (or manually wipe (format) Data partition - Internal Storage wipe is NOT necessary)
Manually wipe (format) your System partition <-Unnecessary
Flash your ROM
Flash GApps package <-Use opengapps arm64 7.1 micro
Flash SuperSU v2.79 <-Use the arm64 version of SU found on the LineageOS website
Wipe the Dalvik & cache <-Unnecessary
Reboot (Because of the SuperSu install, there may be a bootloop or two. It also warned me before I rebooted that I didn't have an OS installed, even though I did.)
NOTE: YOU WILL LOSE ALL OF YOUR DATA AND APPLICATION SETTINGS using this method. Be sure to do a NANDroid backup prior in case you want to restore later.

Glad someone else got it to work, and thanks for the instructions. Note formatting /system is not necessary, neither is wiping cache or dalvik.
If you want su, lineage has a flashable root package. Check on their site. SuperSU may work but it's not supported in any way.
I'll check the WiFi stuff, I probably missed a config or calibration file or something.
The in-call audio is probably an issue in the amplifier code. I just got that working yesterday, so no surprise there. Fix should be relatively easy.

I need a log from stock and I don't really want to flash back and forth. Can someone do me a favor and get a log of a phone call using stock 7.1.1? Just run eg. "adb logcat >call.log" and then make a call, establish voice communication, hang up, and hit ^C.
Thanks!

Okay been working away on this. Got the WiFi MAC and the notification light working. Still haven't figured out call audio, which is the biggest show stopper right now.
Got a question though....
As far as I can tell, the notification light hardware only seems to support a single color at a time (red, green, blue). They can't be mixed to provide eg. yellow or orange. So, it can't do the typical yellow for the "medium battery" color. What do you people prefer for that? What does stock show?
Thanks for your work again.
Stock:
Constant green when its fully charged (and blue blinking when notification arrived).
Constant blue when its charging.
Red Blinking when level is below 15%
In my opinion you can leave it like that.

Update Rooted Tab S6 SM-T860 without wiping data using Odin

Normal disclaimers, I take no responsibility if things go sideways. While this worked for me you should probably backup anything you care about.
My tablet was only rooted with no TWRP. I haven't needed TWRP installed permanently for quite a while now.
Have working adb tools
Download the current/updated firmware with frija or other tool
Extract the firmware
Adb push the AP_XXXX.tar.md5 file to your device sdcard
adb push AP_XXXX.tar.md5 /sdcard/Download/
Open Magisk (I'm using the canary version, may not be needed but I know it works for A11)
Select Install
Select and Patch a File
Choose the file you just copied to the device
Magisk will patch the file and return a file name and location
adb pull this file back to your computer
adb pull /sdcard/Download/magisk_patched_xxxxxxx.tar ./
Turn off all your magisk modules. (If your modules are all compatible with the version you're going to this is ok but mine were not which sent my tablet into a bootloop after the update)
Turn tablet off
Open Odin
Hold both volume buttons and plug in the usb cable to your computer
Push the volume up button to continue to download mode
Add the AP, BL, and HOME_CSC files to Odin.
NOTE: If you use the CSC file instead of HOME_CSC you will wipe the device/factory reset. This can be used on a fresh device to gain root as well.
Cilck start and wait for the process to complete
If you forget to turn off the magisk modules and end up in a bootloop like me, hold the volume up button. Eventually the the tablet should go into safe mode which will cause magisk to disable all the modules. Mine finally booted after this.
Passing SafetyNet:
Turn on Magisk Hide
Get the safetynet fix test 2 module from kdrag0n
SafetyNet should pass with basic attestation
Fix Bluetooth with the BluetoothLibraryPatcher module. If you don't you will need to re-pair bluetooth devices after each reboot.
Thanks. I have been hoping the this was possible. I guess a kernel install needs a wipe then? SELinux is really getting on my nerves.

Can't say. I primarily root to block ads and route my hotspot traffic though my VPN. The stock firmware with root gives me that.
Using my steps you would end up with a stock rooted kernel. If your existing setup plays nice with that you should be ok. You could always try and see, worst case you have to wipe anyway.
I'm using successfully this method: https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...unencrypted-and-retain-all-your-data.3798256/ to update the s8. The tab isn't rooted (yet) so haven't use it here.

I'm afraid very little of that will apply to the Tab S6.
... well, when I'll be rooted, I'll definitely try it Maybe someone will try it earlier and report it ... .

Thanks OP. This worked easily for me and I'm now updated. The S6 is working far better - less lag, more battery. I'm a happy camper.
Did you have the boot loader unlocked and Dm-veity disabled when you did this?
i used this meathod and it checked my file system booted into download mode and gave me this error: there is a root hash in your system.
I have managed to fix this issue with no data loss though

Hi, I have a short question.
I tried to update my Samsung Tab S6. I downloaded the latest firmware file from November and copied the AP*.tar.md5 file over to the tablet. I started Magisk (v23) and tried to patch the file, but every-time I select the file nothing happened. Where is my mistake, please?

Well I had some issues, I'm sure by some error on my part. Perhaps instead of just turning off my modules in Magisk, I should have uninstalled them. I couldn't get out of the bootloup, holding the volume up button did not work. I was able to get into recovery, and factory reset it. Then it booted up no problem, with Magisk installed. Was able to root no problem. Luckily I predicted there would be problems, and I used an app on Fdroid called Neo Backup, which successfully restored all apps and data, and cache. Samsung cloud was used to restore all settings, WiFi passwords, wallpaper, etc.
Arobase40 said:
You said nothing about your configuration and if you have TWRP or not, if you used normal CSC or HOME_CSC.
If you used normal CSC, this should be the problem as it needs to factory reset your tab !
Finally, is your tab updated now and running and with which version and from which initial version ?
Finally, if you have Magisk up and running, you can also download and install "Magisk Bootloop Protector" module...

I did have TWRP installed, and was careful to use HOME_CSC, as I did not want my device wiped. Tablet is fully updated to 12, and rooted and running well. I updated from latest build of 11 stock firmware. I had Riru and LSPosed modules and Busybox modules. I'll probably put Busybox back on, but I only put LSPosed on, for Gravitybox, which I don't think I will use anymore anyway.
Didn't not know about the Bootloop protector module, good tip.

correct me if i am wrong, i am outdated
1 with home_csc, it won't wipe if you are rooted with encryption disabled (in the past). is it true that if i am on stock firmware and root it, twrp can handle the data partiition properly without wiping my data now?
2 i havent set any password. this was required for decryption in twrp for reading the data partition partition. so without any password set, will twrp able to keep my data, ie without wipe?
and,
3 as @l7777 mentioned "I have managed to fix this issue with no data loss though", how did you do that?

It's been a long time since I did this. My only issue was Magisk module compatibility. I don't use TWRP anymore so I can't speak to that. I have to imagine with the changes to Magisk and Android 12 things will be different.

Spoiler: Updating BeyondROM to latest version
When upgrading FW to flash the latest BR these are the recommended steps.
It is assumed that you are already on BeyondROM.
Download the latest/required version of the firmware (Samfirm, Frija etc...)
Unzip the stock ROM zip
Boot the phone into Download mode
Load up Odin and uncheck auto-reboot in Odin settings
Insert the relevant files into their slots (BL = BL, AP=AP, CP=CP, CSC=HOME_CSC) **It's important to use HOME_CSC to keep your data intact**
In the USERDATA slot insert your TWRP+Patched VBMETA tar file (Device Specific)
Start Flash
When flashing completes, keep USB plugged in, hold Volume Down + Power, as soon as the screen goes black hold Volume Up + Power pressed to enter TWRP
When in TWRP, flash latest BeyondROM
When complete, save logs, reboot to system
Enjoy!
Enjoy flashing good people !

I'm sorry, I think my words were very basic. It's a language translation problem. maybe i meant. "If I'm lucky, perhaps in the future, you'll have time to make the ROM for the phone version I use"
Sorry but I never had a snapdragon device. Chances to do a br for it are very slim.
The rom have been updated to latest Oct FW AVI7

Nice, thank you!
So, considering the installation instructions, does that mean we need to go to AVI7 firmware in order to flash your ROM, or what is the situation when updating the ROM? I'm on your first build.
yes, you need to flash first stock AVI7 fw + twrp_patched_vbmeta in USERDATA slot, reboot to twrp and flash BR16

So most likely it will result in a data wipe. Till now I didn't succeed to flash stock ROM without wiping. (Works fine in TAB S7 + and S8U) but kills my data in S22u even when using the home csc.
Thanks anyways.
If you use HOME_CSC when you flash stock, it will preserve your data

I already tried it multiple times, it wiped my data regardless. That's how I do it on my TABs

maybe because of flashing TWRP with the vbmeta patch? disabling encryption formats data partitions, doesn't it

if you use stock fmw rooted you can update firmware using home csc without wiping data
if you are using beyond rom make sure you use latest twrp from afaneh92 android file host
if you still have data encrypted you need to flash twrp+ vbmeta, format data and reboot to twrp. after this you can flash beyond rom and no need to format data anymore
great rom Andrei
using with my s22+
0 bugs, everything is running smooth
good job
Hi, this rom is really awesome, is it possible to flash the "Loki Kernel" on it...?

Since this gets rid of some Knox stuff, is it possible to then use the Samsung health app with a tripped knox?

Is it the latest one though? Or is it the older one that worked with a tripped knox?
Edit: yeah I looked and it is, cool thanks man
For many years I have been using exynos samsung galaxy cellphones. For reasons I dont know Samsung decided to make the S22 series for latinamerica with a snapdragon chip. Even when I should be happy cause snapdragon its said that is faster than exynos, I cannot keep having BR. Its a pity.
