How do I get back to stock on Huawei GR5 2017 BLL-L22? - Honor 6X Questions & Answers

I've tried every single method I can see online, from fastboot flashing, to the dload method, to flashing stock via fastboot and then attempting the dload method. Nothing works. Right now I'm on TWRP 3.1.1-0 and RR 7.1.2. I really need to go back as with custom roms the fingerprint reader refuses to work, and not having HWC is a big deal to me. I was on EMUI 5.0, and I can't seem to get back. Any attempt at the dload method always fails at 5% and the fastboot flashed method (Where you flash the recovery, system and boot.img via fastboot) refuses to boot, (Just sits on device booting screen for 15+ minutes and does nothing). I've spent about 5-6 hours on this and I just can't figure it out. Any help is appreciated (also if anyone would be so kind as to throw up a BLL-L22 EMUI 5.0 TWRP stock backup, I'd really appreciate it).

Not paying for unlocking software I'm never going to use other than flashing stock. If I'm desperate I might but currently looking for a free way to restore stock as this is my hobby phone to mess with and not my daily driver.

I do have TWRP OpenKirin 3.1.1-0. I wiped everything beforehand. and I'm going to try and flash the firmware.
EDIT: No go, error 7 once again. I might just stay on 7.1.2 as this is getting very frustrating.

WARNING: THIS HAS BRICKED PHONES! It is suspected that having an encrypted phone causes these bricks, but that has not been confirmed. If your data partition is encrypted, it is extra important that you perform a factory reset before taking this OTA. Doing this will remove the encryption.
WARNING: INSTALLING THIS ON A LOCKED BOOTLOADER WILL ELIMINATE ALL CHANCE OF YOU EVER UNLOCKING YOUR BOOTLOADER.
If your bootloader is unlocked, it will not be re-locked after this update.
Do NOT flash this using TWRP. If you want to do that, use this version: http://forum.xda-developers.com/droid-turbo/development/rom-mcg24-251-5-100-stock-t3512949
So if you're a bad enough dude to flash this anyway, follow these instructions:
1. Backup all data on your phone. It will be lost.
2. If your bootloader is locked, make sure you are on SU4TL-49. If you aren't, take all available OTAs until you are.
3. If your bootloader is unlocked and you have TWRP installed, flash SU4TL-49 using this package: https://mega.nz/#!3xRhiaSR!KxH2Ya_BYK4zBjrxmej7dqaaDJVT1coTFJVJ5Fvb2WM
4. If you have TWRP installed on your phone, download the stock SU4TL-49 recovery here: https://mega.nz/#!L1AkQD4T!qoZIlLa-wuUBLMEi_gE574meiHd6Pehb34a-x3Gb-V8 and install it using the install image option in the install menu in TWRP. Reboot to recovery.
3. Perform a factory reset using the stock recovery menu. This will wipe all data and ensure that everything is formatted exactly as it should be.
4. Boot the phone normally and place the marshmallow update on the root of the directory that pops up when you plug in your phone.
5. Boot to recovery and at the stock recovery menu, select "apply update from sdcard."
6. Select the update and cross your fingers.

Strange. Try reflashing SU4TL-49. If my TWRP package doesn't do it for you, use the full firmware package and do it manually with fastboot.

As a tip, if anyone else with an unlocked bootloader runs into this,
what i had to do was restore my su-44 unmodified backup, OTA to SU-49, and then, after confirming my

How to update FRDL09 Honor 8 to Oreo 8.0.0.521 FRD-L09C432B521

Hi I just saw the update 8.0.0.521 FRD-L09C432B521 is available in Firmware finder android app
I tried to use the method, I used before to update my rooted phone, flashing stock recovery first, but it s not working :
-Classic OTA (no firmware finder ) cant find it
-firmware finder proxy method, I got a "checksum control error at the beginning of the 1.16GO OTA download
I actually have B406 installed
I check the 3 "FullOta-MF-PV" available in firmware finder, but there are "not approved for installation"
Is there a way to bypass and install anyway, or should I just wait for another update to be usable?
Thanks

DONT, I Tried To Use HurUpdater To Get Oreo Early Even If Its Not Approved, I Got Bricked, I Was Stuck At A Fastboot Error Screen, My Bootloader Was Still Unlocked Because I Put Another Custom Recovery With HurUpdater. So I Booted To ER Recovery And It Looked Different, It Looked Much Better Than The Android 7 ER Recovery. Then Next In Order To Get Out Of This Brick, I Pressed The Button To Dowbload Latest Firmware And Recovery And It Worked!! Usually That Does Not Work With Android 7 ER Recovery. So I Typed In My Wifi Password And It Installed And Removed Everything, So I Was Back At B406 FRD-L09C432. But I Had An "Appdata" Back up in twrp before i did this. Then I Got All My Data Back (Apps, Saves On Games, Even My Settings Were Back From The Appdata Backup From That TWRP Appdata Backup)

IMHO, you have to understand that modifying anything from stock room (root, bootloader...) will prevent you to get any official update easily.
By rooting, you chose this.

I have Oreo witch HurUpdater and work fine.
The best way to upgrade to Oreo is to use method 2 with root on this guide :
https://forum.xda-developers.com/honor-8/how-to/guide-flashing-unapproved-firmwares-t3668306
Assuming that you're on Nougat and Oreo is available for your region (or you already rebranded).
If the phone doesn't boot, go to recovery and wipe data.
Then use multitool v8 to install emui 8 compatible recovery, it's not perfect but Magisk can be installed (but uninstaller doesn't work ... Be careful with the modules you use ?)
I received and install B407 Today, stock usual OTA way... Maybe B521 soon..

Really... Guys...?

I think i bricked my device forever....

Tried like many others to flash RROS, but once booted it does not do anything, just a black screen. Tried using the dload method but it fails right away (i used Full-OTA same build as i had before trying to install RROS). I have Bootloader and FRP unlocked, Fastboot mentions AP_S_ABNORMAL. I can also enter TWRP, but i just cannot boot or reflash anything... Do i have to use B131 for the dload method ? Or is there anything else ?
EDIT : Resolved, see last post.

HuRUpdater. You just need TWRP, all of the firmware zips and huru itself. It's guaranteed that HuRUpdater brings back the phone from dead.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/honor-9/development/tool-flash-official-firmware-recovery-t3769279
But remember: after you rebooted your phone, please go to eRecovery and perform a factory reset there. If you perform a factory reset with TWRP, your phone stays bricked.

Downgrade from 9.0.2 to 9.0.1?

Hi, just tried to do this by flashing the old zip trough TWRP, but i always end to boot in recovery, maybe i'm doing something wrong...?
I tried this today and happened the same, i guess you have to clean flash to downgrade.
Also a tip, if you got stuck in recovery and yet cannot decrypt (doesn't ask for password/pin in TWRP), boot to fastboot mode, use the command "fastboot boot <the img file name for twrp>" so that you can boot directly to the img file from your PC. This way it will ask for your password.

You might try flashing again when you get booted back to TWRP. That way, you can get 9.01 flashed to both slots if it's not already. No guarantees, but it's worth a try.

Can you link me to the exact fastboot rom you flashed? Some said I have to use the downgrade zip from OnePlus to Oreo 5.1.1 then only upgrade to 9.0.1. The OP of the fastboot rom said the rom is not for downgrading.
Did you downgrade to Oreo first or directly flash the 9.0.1 fastboot rom?

I've wiped everything, then downgraded to Pie directly, but I was in a slightly different situation (only fastboot available).
Just to be sure flash the Oreo one and then upgrade to Pie.
With the whole A/B partition layout it should be easier to downgrade too right?

Will we get an OneUI compatible TWRP and/or kernel? Also what can be causing this?

So, I've flashed OneUI on my phone (I only flashed AP and CSC, no new bootloader), and TWRP doesn't seem to work with it since it can't read or wipe the data partition. Also, booting is a little weird. Sometimes it works perfectly, but sometimes it goes into a freeze bootloop thing where the boot animation freezes, and a few seconds later it reboots. I'm wondering if this has anything to do with me having a treble gsi on the phone before OneUI. Maybe the partition table didn't go back to stock after flashing? (the fstab must have though, since it's in the boot img) Or maybe it has something to do with having a different csc on the phone? (phone is XEH, but the firmware is DBT) I've tried re-flashing it with no luck. (it even freezes just randomly too, then goes into the bootloop.)

I'm gonna try that one now (actually a little later 'cause personal stuff)...

Working twrp for ab 2018.
Oh ok, I'll try it soon.
Any idea why do the freezes/bootloops happen tho?

Idk, currently I'm on stock 9.0 recovery and I'm getting freezes, bootloops but just randomly. I'm thinking maybe somehow it's related to treble... The stock recovery is even complaining about not finding /vendor, and some other partition.

I would do a reflash .
what did was updated to the new Oreo bootloader then flash a rooted pie backup.
I had no reboots but I rebooted it could take a threw times to reboot.
Since I flash the new twrp I can reboot without issue.
Did you flash your region pie it should not really matter I have a the Russian pie and I flashed a Canadian csc to get volte working.
If you root use magisk 18.1 zip and use the twrp I link you.

Remember you have to reformat after installing twrp.
It took me only two minutes to find the new twrp.
20 reboots without issue.

You mean wiping data right?
'cuz that's what's failing on the screenshots.
For me the first about 12 hours was normal, then the freezes and bootloops started happening.
So it didn't fix the bootloops, but at least TWRP works now!

I was able to install TWRP and root with Magisk when the pie update was uploaded on this forum.

And yes you need to erase everything
Well, I was able to root and fix twrp, but I still get bootloops and freezes...
I think I'll just wait for pie to be released on my csc and until that, I'll either get used to it or go back to Phh-treble (I've never tought I'd say a custom ROM that is not even meant for this specific device is more stable (for me) than the official)

I am having the exact same issues you are. In fact, are you using my phone when I sleep?
If you want to try out a 9.0 gsi that'll run pretty darn good in the meantime, try aospext's 9. Works well enough to use daily and you'll get a "4g" constant connection.
And since you have the same issues, this should give you a flawless run. If you are just entering a clean treble, wipe it all. Everything including internal. Just not your emovable of course.
Flash the vendor in from A8 that says 8.1 and 9.0 compatible. Flash the .img. Reboot recovery flash vendor again and then gapps. I did magisk after a normal run through and the latest was a 50% pass on safety. Gonna try it again right now for a third time. No issues with booting at all. If you do it differently all hell breaks loose and you'll be booted but with a severe case of "no system webview syndrome" or "chrome ain't no system app useless-lee-itus" The force closing of apps could be mistaken for an old Atari video game..

Don't do what i suggested unless you've got a frikken system webview handy from a rom. all nicely in a folder. Toss it rightly in twrp.

Lol
Well, it's good to see it's not me being stupid or my phone being broken
Soo.. looks like I fixed it.. What I did is downgraded to stock 8.0 and let OTA do it's job. I know it must have updated my bootloader (thus adding new locks to my device) but so far no bootloops, freezes, or anything. It might have been the bootloader, or the modem, or idk.

Their where no freezing or issues on Oreo.
Android pie was released and it would freeze at boot and watching videos.
